Mr. Lucky by Lee Wood

Book105/50 was 4⭐️!

Homeless, jobless, lost his family, and down on his luck. Could things possibly get any worse for James? After losing his family in a tragic accident, his life is on a downward spiral. Instead of purchasing a much needed meal, he decides to chance his luck, and purchase a lottery ticket. This is insane, but he just won £168 million! (That’s over $222 million US!) 😱

With his turn of luck, surely he’s on his way to a new start. Well, not quite yet. That’s when his life turns into a nightmare. A dangerous man has it out for him. Will James be able to handle his newfound wealth, all while trying to put a crazy maniac at bay?

This is the first book in the Trentbridge Tales series, and my first book by Lee Wood! I would definitely read more by him, and more of this series!

As always,
Happy Reading! 🩷

Book94/50 was 5⭐️!

This was the 4th and final book in The Predator Series, and it did not disappoint!! I love a good “happily ever after”!

This book follows a known character from the previous books, along with an introduction of a newer character. Is it an accident they keep coming together, or is Fate playing a hand in this deal?

If you haven’t read any books from this series, I highly suggest starting with “The Predator: Part One”, and go from there! You will not regret reading this series!!

Book88/50 was 5⭐️!

This is the third book (novella) in The Predator Series, and they just keep getting better and better!

This novella follows Beth, her time to shine in the ring, and her decision as to whether or not she should let Scott near the walls she’s worked so hard to build around herself.

You definitely need to read the previous books to know who the characters are and what they are going through in order to get a complete picture of what’s happening. You don’t want to miss out on this series! (4 books in total) So, I recommend you start with “The Predator: Part One” and go from there!

You won’t regret it!!

Book79/50 was 4⭐️! I really enjoyed the dynamics between Chamberlain and Katie! I also love Scott! However, Gwen knows what she’s doing and she’s got to go!! She infuriates me.

There’s a sequel to the book called, “The Predator Two”, and I’ve already started reading it because Book One leaves the reader with a cliff hanger! I MUST know what is going to happen!!

This book is the perfect combination of what’s going to happen next, rooting for love, but hating the interference, spicy, a bit of a mystery as to what’s going to come, and ‘OMG! she didn’t!’ combined into one book!

I recommend this read, as it’s quick and enjoyable!! I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

As always,

The Book of Fears: A Collection of Short Stories by K. S. Gantt – Review by Casey Drieling

The Book of Fears by K.S. Gantt

Book72/50 was 2.5 rounded to 3⭐️!

Honestly, I wasn’t a fan. This book is a collection of common fears/phobias. There’s eight stories with eight different people. Throughout the collection of phobias, these people are faced with their biggest fears. They must do what it takes to overcome them, or succumb to their fate of death by fear.

I believe this book is categorized as “horror”, but it wasn’t horrifying to me. There are MANY triggers and trigger warnings, so if you have triggers, beware. They are listed in the book.

Some of the fears and phobias are understandable and relatable, but I’ve yet to find a “horrifying” book that keeps me up at night. But, once again, I think I’m broken 🫠

If you’re interested in reading about phobias and how Individuals deal when faced with a life-or-death situation, this book is for you! But again, be mindful of the trigger warnings. I hope you enjoy!

Book64/50 was 4⭐️ and 3🔥!

An ARC, which I received, and it was fantastic!!

A love story, with a little mystery, and a twist on how things will go down. What more could you ask for!?

Being a baby sister of 4 alpha-males, Lynn is over the bossy and overprotective male type. She avoids them like the plague. That is… until Joey Martel slides into her life. They keep running into each other. Is Fate out to keep them together?

There’s “cleat-chasers”, then there’s real love. Which one is Lynn classified as? Will Lynn and Joey have what it takes to make a home run or will they strike out before they’ve even had a chance?

Walls are put up for a reason. Let’s be honest- Nobody wants to allow their heart to break, if it can be avoided. Who will be there when life throws a curve ball?

With a sudden house fire, then a family heir-loom stolen, who could be after the Brooks family and why? Will they be able to work together to get to the bottom of it or will Lynn shut everybody out who keeps treating her like a baby and then her bodyguard?

This book was a super quick and enjoyable read! Although there are 3 books previous to this Book 4, “Stout of my League” can be read as a standalone. I hope you enjoy like I have!

As always,

Toasted (Love Burns Series Book 1) by Isobel Reed – Review by Casey Drieling

Toasted (Love Burns Series Book 1)Toasted by Isobel Reed
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My first book by Isobel Reed, and I devoured it! I would say a 5⭐️ and 2🔥 book! The story was great, but it definitely could have been spicier! (In my humble opinion!) 😅😅🤷🏼‍♀️

With moving to a new town, an incredibly small one at that, what could possibly go wrong? Libby’s first night, that’s what!

As Libby is getting settled into her new home, all she wanted to do is make some toast and chill. However, things do not always go as planned. Libby quickly learned that when her toaster caught on fire! Who knew an older toaster and crumb build up could cause a fire!? Certainly, not Libby!

As the firefighters begin to show up, Libby is still standing in her home, staring in disbelief. She finally comes to when the hottie fireman is coaxing her to leave the house for safety reasons. Abruptly, she realizes not only does she feel an instant spark with this firefighter who is trying to help her, but she is also wearing some of her favorite, comfy Disney pajamas. How embarrassing!

As the book continues, we realize we have one who wants an immediate commitment because the energy between them is palpable; while the other is afraid of commitment because Disney’s Princess stories are only for the films, not real life. As a pact is made to be friends, can they stay fully committed to this agreement, or will they let the heat come between them? Or, will they have to call it quits all together?

This book is a great story about resisting love because the thought of a broken heart is earth-shattering enough. To actually have to go through it? Impossible! Read to find out what happens between Libby and Zach!

This is the first book in the “Love Burns” series, and I already cannot wait for the second book to be released!

As always,
Happy Reading! 🩷

Come Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson – Review by Casey Drieling

Come Home to DeathCome Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was another new-to-me author, and she told a good story. There were some twists I didn’t expect, which I love! There were a few sketchy characters in which the author leads the reader to believe one truth about them, but will have you second-guessing yourself as you read.

Being newly married, Erica Parker comes home to find thugs looking for her groom (Terry) to claim a debt he owes. On the lookout for safety, Erica returns to her hometown; a place she swore she would never revisit. While there, family members and close family friends begin to show their true colors when word gets out that Erica is about to come into a large sum of money. In a few short days, she will turn 25 and become an overnight millionaire. Now, she has a target on her back. What are those around her willing to do to get a piece of her money pie?

The author uses extensive vocabulary. 1/3 of the way through, I enjoyed learning new words. However, 39% through the book, it started getting on my nerves. It was almost like she knew what word to use, researched synonyms, and picked the longest word possible to replace it. In addition to that, the chapters were incredibly long, and I’m not a fan of lengthy chapters. They were roughly 22-35 minutes per chapter.

Overall, it was a good read, and I would check out another book by her.

Happy Reading! 🩷
