Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven Book 5) by AJ Renee – Review by Christine Taysom

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another fantastic addition to the Broderick Coven Series! This time we get to follow an eagerly anticipated Broderick sibling at least for me anyways! Edward Broderick has always been a more mysterious unknown in where he fits in with his powers and the extended family the Broderick Coven has grown to be. I was thrilled to learn more about him and the addition of Mia Hemlock, a FMC who’s personality absolutely speaks to me (I love her)! This may end up being a favorite of the series for me. Can’t wait to read more, I highly recommend this book!

I love this series, I love that each book can totally get away with being a stand alone read but reading them all together in order has been a true treat. Getting able to see more depth and growth within the Broderick Coven family as each book continues has been a treat for those following along. In this continuation of the series we follow Carter Broderick a doctor/healer and one of the more critical and skeptical of the Broderick Siblings since finding out about their families lines and Vanessa Rayne who meets Carter after taking her neighbor in for a nasty infected bite. Steamy and fantastic, Highly recommend this book and this series!

Wow I loved this continuation into the Broderick Coven Series! This book can be triggering so please check trigger warnings. But I absolutely loved following Max Broderick and Claudia and her daughter Katia. There were so many tender moments of healing and it felt therapeutic just to read in my opinion. I have had the Broderick Coven books on my TBR for an embarrassingly long time, and I finally had an opportunity to devote some devoted reading sessions to these books. So glad I made this happen because these books are everything I wanted them to be! I love a good paranormal storyline and this is really serving us some fantastic world building and plot! We follow the main characters of Ethan Broderick and Serena High Priestess of the Coven. Absolutely loved watching these two develop and grow together! Absolutely fantastic and highly recommend this series!

Weep, Woman, Weep: A Gothic Fairytale about Ancestral Hauntings by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Christine Taysom

Weep, Woman, WeepWeep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a beautiful cultural exploration of generational trauma wrapped in a creepy, gothic, horror story. I absolutely loved it! In this wonderful story we follow the determined and independent Mercy, from frightened and unsure child, self-described as “all elbows and knees” teenager to fearless, self-sufficient and generational trauma cycle breaker. I loved how well the author was able to build this gothic fairytale all while clearly explaining how this curse was really bred from the cycles of trauma in her ancestors’ past. It was beautifully written and was a perfect October book choice! Highly recommend this book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this book was absolutely amazing and I just could not put it down, so instead of trying to put it down I sat there and binged it in one sitting! This story was so interesting and not at all what I expected in a Cinderella retelling because it blew my expectations away. The three main characters in this book are Ashling, Prince Callum and his amazing husband, and I absolutely loved these characters. They were written so well! The world this retelling is told in however is much more than meets the eye and with fantastic world building you are thrown into a world where dark magic is what took her father from her and threatens to destroy everything good before the clock strikes midnight. I can not recommend this book enough! Definitely a must read!

Journeys Through TimeSpace (Journeys Through Book 2) an absolute fantastic continuation of this series. The world building goes even deeper in this continuation and I absolutely loved the developments. Characters really fall into their own in this book and it makes for such fun reading through the various perspectives as this collective journey continues. I really enjoyed some twists at the end I didn’t see coming and loved feeling the dopamine rush of another book that I enjoy so much I struggled to even put it down. This book was absolutely spellbinding! The complex world and magic was perfect and the characters were so well written and I just loved every page. It is very fast paced and hard to put down. I loved the lore surrounding Soren and Maya and reading their story as the plot developed was thrilling. There is plenty of steamy romance and plenty of action also. The story revolves around Maya and Soren and their inner circle as they fight for all of the good with magic, supernatural creatures and humans against the evil determined to turn the tide in their favor. The other characters in their inner circle all have complexities and I hope to read more about them. All in all I am in awe of the magical world and lore built in this story and can’t wait to read the next book! Highly recommend this book!

Wow again, I absolutely loved this book and am so glad to have found these books. This book mostly involves Vanessa, Aroz and Antaroz and most of it takes place in the upper world. Finding out the truth of what happened with Aroz and his twin and Vanessa’s prophecy is what is focused in this book. It was again such a fantastic development on the story with these characters and really just cemented this series as a definite favorite of mine. Book 2 of Her Three Immortals was just as fantastic as the first. While the first book took place mostly in the mortal world and Raef, this book mainly revolves around Grey, Adonis and Vanessa in the Overworld. Grey is so hesitant to let Vanessa in and Vanessa is determined to mark her own way/place in the Overworld. She is the color to his greyscale, literally and it was such a fantastic way to continue the series! Again highly recommended, this book series is quickly becoming an absolute favorite of mine!

The DonThe Don by Hazel Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Honestly this book deserves all the stars, five isn’t even close to enough to convey how great I thought it was! This book is the beginning of Her Three Immortals Book series, revolving around characters, Vanessa, Grey, Raef Fox, and Aroz. The way their stories intertwined is so seamless and you can never guess what’s going to happen next. Vanessa’s brother is dying of cancer and she would do anything to help him recover.

Honestly this book was fantastic and had me giggling along and feeling emotional as the scenes changed. I have a feeling book 2 is going to give us even more information and development between the characters and I just can’t wait. So speaking of such, I’m off to read it! Read this book, you won’t regret it!

Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance (The Order of the Condor Series Book 1)Code Name: Vulture: Dark Vampire Romance by Maya Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is absolutely fantastic! The paranormal world building was really well done, from beginning to end! As you read and learn more about Vulture and his world and Danielle and her being sucked right into all the chaos. And as things progress towards the end, questions are answered leaving you thrilled at the prospect of what is next to come in the series!

Danielle is independent, adventurous and brave and is so much more than she appears. Vulture is cold and immoveable yet these two get shoved into a situation much bigger than they realize at the start and it only gets better as you read! Loved this book and I am definitely looking forward to reading more about Falcon in the next one! Highly recommend this for a great Paranormal world and romance!

Wow let me tell you, this book was so intriguing! This book is the setup to this series so this book is very heavy on world building but it does not slow it down at all! Sometimes when authors have so much to set up and that it requires loads of world building it can be complicated to maintain reader engagement. Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison however did so fantastic and I never felt like I was struggling to read or stay engaged, I was quite the opposite actually I couldn’t put the book down! This book adds on to the steamy paranormal world created in a wonderful way giving us even more depth to the lore and even more sexy angst. I loved Salvatore and Lucianna’s story. Such a great version of the supernatural world and how it ties together. True to any good vampire story this story is dark and sexy but in a way that felt fresh and new. I loved the mystery and suspense while everything started to unfold. Bared. (Green St. Girls #1)Bared. by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I truly loved this book, I really loved all the characters and just how real they all are!
I know, I know being a millionaire at 21 is not realistic but hear me out. The struggles Athena and Tru each have either individually or together was so very REAL! I loved how much complexity there was within these two characters. They both have been burned in their pasts, and it has had lasting effects like Athena’s hyper-independence. I won’t spoil anything but this led to very realistic issues and conversations and I just loved that. Sure it’s still a work of fiction but let me tell you this book was so refreshing because I could totally see these types of issues and conversations being had in real life. The spice was also amazing and the chemistry fantastic! Athena’s friends are amazing and again personalities were so distinct and you guessed it realistic! I absolutely loved getting to read about Athena and Tru, and honestly can’t wait to read more about the Green St. Girls!

Definitely a must read!

The chemistry between Hawke and Charlotte is absolutely palatable. He’s dark and twisted thanks to his past while she is sweet and full of light, throughout reading it’s clear opposites attract. I loved that BDSM was integral for the story. Then the fact of the thriller aspect was fantastically thrown in as well. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow this novel is by far one of the best books I have ever read, and I feel like I have a consistent history of finding, picking and reading novels that turn out to be just fantastic reads. I sat down and finished this book in one session and let me tell you I could not put this book down! I have had a long standing interest in the myths and legends of Celtic, Gaelic and Irish origin. My maiden name is McCarty and my ancestors immigrated from Galway, Ireland leaving the surname McCarthy in Galway and switching to McCarty upon arrival to the United States. I got such a kick out of reading this book that was inspired by legends and myths of gods and goddesses that have always interested me, set in the parts of Ireland my family originated from. Then to top it all off Kristin wove this beautiful tale that just kept me intrigued and in love with the characters she created. Saorise is an amazing protagonist and I loved learning about this urban world seeped in myths and legends through her eyes and mind. I am eagerly looking forward to November to read the next book in this series because I can’t wait to see how this story and the characters continue to develop and unfold. In the meantime you will definitely catch me rereading this book! Awakening the Gods (Rise of the Celtic Gods #1) isn’t a book you can only read once for satisfaction, it necessitates the re-reading of it in order to surround oneself with the magic for a little while longer.

I had a huge interest in this book due to my own trauma in my childhood and while this book is heavy it was such a cathartic read. My inner-child struggled along with her retelling of her trauma but she also felt such a kinship with the author’s growth. The need for validation and love and accepting them in unhealthy ways is something I related with. Her resilience and strength though are so powerful that it left a lasting impression. I cried along as I read through some of her darkest moments but I also felt the power and strength of her resolving her trauma. This was such a good book and I can’t recommend it enough!
