I decided to read this book based on the title, expecting it to be some mystery to unravel. This book was nothing at all like I expected it would be but it is so much better. I was captivated by the story and the way it unfolded. The author really created something that is interesting and attention grabbing. I really enjoyed watching how things developed. I have read a couple of books by this author now and I can definitely say she is one I enjoy. This book has to be my favourite so far but I am looking forward to discovering more.

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose is and intriguing and thought-provoking read. I really didn’t know what to expect going into this story, but the blurb made me curious to find out more. So I snapped up a copy and set off to explore. I really don’t know how to explain this story without accidently giving too much away and spoiling it for you. I really think that you would be better off diving in blind and letting the author and story sweep you up in the crazy adventure- and surprise you, in a good way. It’s fantasy meets adventure, with action, mystery, magic, zany/quirky characters, paranormal elements, humour, dramatic developments, emotion, and a bit of a mystical feel. Happy Reading!

This was my first book by Samantha J. Rose so I didn’t know what to expect. Very quickly I realized I was going to love it! She kept me guessing on who I was suppose to like and what was going to happen next. The way everything was described, I felt like I could see it, like I was there. I would definitely recommend this book no matter what you typically prefer to read. This has a bit of everything.

This book grabbed me from the start and kept me intrigued throughout. This is a gripping story with mystery, suspense, danger, action, twist and turns. I didn’t read the first book in this series but I didn’t feel lost in any way, I will however be going back and reading it. This author did an exceptional job pulling me in and making it hard to put down while trying to figure out what was going to happen next. I don’t want to give anything away so I will just say that there are some unexpected twists and that this is a must read. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Samantha has crafted a curious tale with What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore. Nothing can prepare you for this. Even Isaac himself cannot believe the world in which he finds himself. Is it even real? Is this what happens in the afterlife? Is it even the afterlife? It is certainly not what he thought it would be if that is the case. Imagine being thrown, quite literally into a crazy world that resembles story books with different worlds and the most unusual of creatures and beings. With clairvoyants and shapeshifters, rivers from childhood, Fairies and giant worms (gulp), dragons and fighting mean little old men, and so much more it will keep you engaged and wondering what poor Isaac has gotten himself involved in. This quirky adventure is full of heartache at times and is heart-warming in the next. There is tragedy yet there is humour. There is laughter to be had and the need for tissues in the next moment. Samantha certainly keeps you on your toes. Isaac has seen a lot in his life but this warped world is not reality. It couldn’t be, right? or is it? Does this the end of dinners with mashed potatoes?

What Actually Happened to Isaac Moore by Samantha J. Rose was my first book by this author, and wow, does she have an amazing imagination for storytelling. The world that she has weaved with this expansive story and the unique characters was phenomenally crafted. From the first page, I was already so invested and curious about where this magical story was going to lead me to, and I was not at any point disappointed! This story unfolded into such a beautiful and emotional adventure that left me feeling all the feelings. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone, despite book genre preferences. Read it!

I found this book to be quite entertaining. There were adventures that left you feeling all the emotions. I found myself laughing, crying, etc. Each chapter brought a new tale. I thought the story line was quite enthralling. I know it grabbed my attention from the beginning. The characters were just that. Some big personalities in this book. I really enjoyed the book and I would recommend it to others also.

Amazing! The second book in the Tallie Brown series and what a brilliant suspenseful read. Even though I hadn’t read book 1, the author does a great job of tuning the reader in. I will be going back and reading book 1 though, as I feel there is much more to know about Tallie’s past. This book has it all – drama, suspense, mystery, crime and action. It is delivered seamlessly and I was gripped from start to finish. Highly recommend.

As a sailor whose life is centered around canvas sails and the sea, the last person Isaac ever expects to find in a fairytale is, well… himself. Yet here he stands, on the edge of the River from the storybook his mother used to read to him as a child, watching it flow from one world to another as far as his eyes can see. Adding to this absurdity, he’s been dragged here by a beautiful, green fairy with vines for hair and an explosive anger problem—yes, explosive. Also, he had to fight a vicious little old man and his air dragon to get to this point.
How much more will he have to face before he can return to his dinners of mashed potatoes and turkey? His adventure couldn’t possibly include giant worms, massive flowers with eyes, clairvoyants, shapeshifters, or that terrifying man Isaac calls Snowman…

Revenge Never Rests (Tallie Brown Suspense Book 2) by Laurie Lewis. I loved this book just like I loved the first one. I do recommend reading the first book before this one to better understand what is happening. Its the story of Tallie Brown who is strong and independent but when she sets out to help many people who have been kidnapped or drugged she realizes she may be in over her head. With Tallie realizing she could have had a whole different life if circumstances were different in her past is hard for her to swallow. Fast paced, full of action, crime, kidnapping and intrigue keeps you flipping pages late in the night. You will root for Tallie all through this book and the adventure it takes you on is fast paced and very interesting. Do yourself a favor and read the Tallie Brown Series today!

Revenge Never Rests is the second gripping book in the Tallie Brown Suspense series by Laurie Lewis. As this story follows on from book one, I highly recommend reading Secrets Never Die before starting on this instalment. This is a suspenseful story full of dramatic developments, intrigue, twists, action, adventure, mystery, secrets, lies, conspiracy, agendas, plots, emotion, family, friendship, tension, (clean) romance, and a quest for answers. As I have mentioned before, I look forward to reading everything Ms. Lewis produces, and this book was no exception. This story made it so hard to choose a favourite out of all her books, leaving me no choice but to add it to my favourites. Tallie Brown has her work cut out for her here, tracking down missing people- but with so many lies, secrets, and cover-ups- the danger mounts and stakes are raised as she embarks on her quest for answers. Another cleverly woven and suspenseful story, and I really enjoyed how Ms. Lewis kept the tension and intrigue at such a high level the whole way through- it made for quite a gripping read. I loved the characters- they are really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. I loved seeing them continue to develop and grow over the course of the story/series…. and seeing how well Tallie’s circle support, and work together. Can’t wait to see what comes next! Happy Reading…

I loved reading this story. This is the second book in this series which I highly suggest reading the first book as it is just as great as the first. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. Her books are well written and her writing skills bring each story to life. This book is no different. The characters pulled me in from the start. I found them to be connectable and had me coming back for more. The author’s use of details made me feel as if I was part of their world. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. A story you don’t want to miss, a must read. There is great growth throughout the story of the plot which made the story easy to read. I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This book is the second book in the Tallie Brown series. I never read the first book before stumbling upon this book and I will say that it pretty much works as a standalone. I do highly recommend reading the first book first, only because there is a lot of backstory needed that made the first portion of the book hard for me to follow. However, once I got a grasp on the characters and their backstory, I found the book absolutely impossible to put down. As a character, I really liked Tallie. Her back story was hard to relate to at first, but she is such an interesting and complex character that I found it impossible not to root for her. I don’t want to give too much information because anything else will spoil it. Pay close attention when reading this because there are so many clues hidden throughout this book. It definitely hooked me and didn’t let me go until the next page. I can’t wait to continue reading more about these characters in upcoming books!

An entertaining read, which had me gripped from start to finish. In this page turner of a novel, Tallie Brown’s life never made sense, she was brought up in isolation by her mother, Julia. Who would take her from one third-world outpost to another, suddenly and without explanation. Life normalised for Tallie when her mother took a position on a mountaintop in the Pacific northwest. However, when Julia unexpectedly dies, Tallie soon discovers that her mother had a secret life. Meanwhile, Journalist Jackson James’s promising career ended, resulting in him working as the editor of a community rag in a posh D.C. suburb. When a lead about a potential scandal takes him to the dying Virginia coal town, Cutler’s Ridge, he meets a mysterious and beautiful woman, Tallie. Both Tallie and Jackson are loners and do not trust easily, but as their stories become intertwined they come to the conclusion that something terrible happened in Cutler’s Ridge. There are those in the town who want the past to stay hidden, and the couple are soon threatened putting them in danger. This was a fast paced story with great characters, an atmospheric small town setting, and a storyline full of drama and suspense. The likeable and relatable Tallie was a great main character, and I liked how her relationship with Jackson developed throughout the story. The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life and made me feel immersed in the storyline. An enjoyable and engaging read, which I definitely recommend.

An enjoyable and entertaining novel, which had me hooked from start to finish. Having read book one and been introduced to the main character, Tallie Brown, I was looking forward to continuing her story, and I was not disappointed. This second novel picks up where the previous one ended, so I would recommend reading them in order. Tallie was raised by a paranoid woman on the run, and having spent her life hiding from the ghosts of her mothers past, she uses her unique skills to track down those who have simply vanished. When Tallie responds to an Amber Alert for a missing girl, it leads her to discover that General Cai Kaswell, her newly discovered father, and the world’s best hope for peace is amongst the vanished.
Tallie gets drawn into a conspiracy that links her past to the string of unsolved disappearances, and her search for answers sends her around the world. Having nearly lost her trusted friends, Tallie is assigned to a charming operative, but she doesn’t fully trust them, and has to watch her own back as she searches for General Kaswell. Tallie learns that she may be the unwitting catalyst for all the disappearances, resulting in both Tallie and her father being lured into a plot that will threaten the Constitution, and the balance of world power. This is a fast paced, page turner of a story, and I was kept gripped throughout. The storyline is full of drama and suspense and the plot twists keep it from becoming predictable. I love Tallie, she’s a likeable and realistic main character, who is easy to feel engaged with. A five star read and one which I definitely recommend.

I loved the first book in this series and equally fell in love with this the second book, Revenge Never Rests. I enjoy Laurie’s writing style and her compelling way of telling a story. Her first book Secrets Never Die where we were first introduced to Tallie was one of the best suspense stories I had read this year and this one is just the same. The interesting characters are well developed and believable and easy to like. Will Tallie be one of the hundreds who disappeared as she finds herself drawn into this conspiracy? This is an action-packed tale with drama, twists and turns that keep the suspense real. Add this to your TBR list and prepare to be wowed. No spoilers here. I really can’t say enough good things about this book except that you need to discover this gripping world that Laurie has created all by yourself.

This was such a thrill ride for me, so many dots to connect, as well as to figure out. The book takes off very quickly and often leaves you breathless. I was amazed and wowed as I read.
Continuation of the previous book, and this one does not leave you unsatisfied. This one really went above and beyond. Tallies’ story is far from over in this one. I loved her character development in this one as she figures out what happened to a loved one. This book gave a action thrill ride, great depth to everything and anything within this one. Amazing writing with the story development!
A book that really keeps you engaged. It was not short, of well anything. I was left wanting more! I loved it truly! I highly recommend this amazing book, as well as the must read author!

Oh man, book 2 of the Tallie Brown saga. Absolute heaven. It picks up where book 1 left off. I’m not going into it because it would be a spoiler. The story is well done. Our protagonists carry on and have to continue to work on their relationship as they work to solve the mystery of what happened to Tallie’s father. Who are the antagonists? Who did it? The characters are fantastic and developed so well. Again, you feel all the emotion as if you are in the story with them. The book feels like it may end there but I vote for the author to continue on with this and making it a series. I loved this and I would give the whole thing more than 5 stars if I were allowed to. Well done!!!! One of my absolute favorites of 2022.

Wow! I fell in love with this one. Life as Tallie knew it was all a deception. After the death of her mom, she set out to find out the truth. With the help of Jackson, they set out on a suspense trip that puts them in the hands of danger and mystery. Will they find the answers they look for? This author had me sitting on the edge of my seat holding my breath as I read. The suspense was palpitating. You can feel it as you’re reading. The characters are so well written and developed. You feel like you’re in the story with them. That plot, it flows smooth and the, BAM, plot twist, and back to smooth, repeat. Fantastic tale of intrigue, deception, suspense, lies. This is a must read. I would give it more than 5 stars if I were allowed. It’s that good!

Tallie Brown has spent a lifetime hiding from the ghosts of someone else’s past. Raised by a paranoid woman on the run, Tallie learned from an early age how to disappear.

Tallie Brown has spent a lifetime hiding from the ghosts of someone else’s past. Raised by a paranoid woman on the run, Tallie learned from an early age how to disappear. Now she must employ her unique set of skills to track down hundreds who have simply vanished, so when an Amber Alert wakes her in the night, she is the first to respond to the call. But tracking the missing girl comes with unexpected consequences, leading her down a deadly path paved with lies and personal loss that ends in a single devastating truth: General Cai Kaswell, the father she just discovered and the world’s best hope for peace, is among the vanished.
As she struggles to find General Kaswell, Tallie is drawn into a conspiracy that links her past to the string of unsolved disappearances. Her search for answers sends her around the globe, but when it nearly takes the lives of her trusted friends and leaves her alone, she is assigned to a charming operative she doesn’t fully trust. Forced to watch her own back as she searches for General Kaswell and the others, not only does she discover she is the unwitting catalyst for the disappearance of the missing people but she and her father are also lured into a plot that threatens the Constitution and the balance of world power.
Montgomery brings such an original concept to a murder mystery of bringing the stage of musicals into these three fun-filled, page-turnings stories. The main character and mystery solver, Ruby, is part of a traveling musical troupe and although the casting directors may not feel as though she has leading lady material, she certainly excels in sleuthing. Aspects of these stories reminded me of Nancy Drew is how a mystery follows her and feels the need to solve the case. During the tour of the musical, The Sound of Music, one of the casted nuns, Mother Abbess is murdered and it is up to Ruby to find out how and why. Then in West Side Murder, the traveling musical troupe end up in Florida where the mystery takes back a few years ago of a dead body found at a local retirement community’s golf course. Finally in Little Shop of Murder takes the troupe back to their hometown of Bloomington, Indiana with their production of Little Shop of Horrors and the horrors of the musical is what is feared to becoming a reality.

This box set was so much fun I devoured the whole thing before I knew it. The story lines were amazing, the characters were well developed, and of course the musical/theatre aspect if it was amazing. This whole series follows Ruby and her theatrical friends, but Ruby seems to find bodies in the most unusual places. Trust me when I say that you will have a ball following her and her friends on the journey to uncover the mystery. After reading these three I sure hope there is more because I can’t wait to see what Ruby and her friends get into next.
Musical Murder Mystery Boxed Set #1 Books 1-3 by K.L. Montgomery – Review by By: K.L. Montgomery 5*
This is such a fun box set. I love Ruby Ecco, she is such an amazing character. However, craziness and murder seem to follow her and her whole cast of musical actors and actresses. In book 1, Ruby is reeling from the recent events. She recently was involved in a murder. However, she was not the murderer or the murdered. She was the understudy of the girl who was murdered. This made her take over the new role. She has been given a back up role for the new musical. Everyone seems to be extra worried about her right now. It doesn’t take long for her to be embroiled in another murder. Another cast member turns up dead and Ruby is called to help solve the mystery. In book 2, Ruby and her Musical Company are now in Florida. This is awesome because Ruby is near her only family, her grandparents. However, once again where Ruby goes murder follows. Someone in the retirement community has died and no one is willing to look more indepth into the murder. Ruby wants to help solve the case, but her grandparents aren’t so sure. In book 3, Ruby is back in her hometown. Its nice to be back home, however, she is handed a long weekend off. She is invited to attend a wedding for her boss’s nephew. However, this isn’t as innocent as it sounds. Her boss is not sure about the woman her nephew is marrying. So she is sending Ruby and her detective skills to look more into the situation. As a musical lover, I loved these stories. I truly enjoyed reading about Ruby. She was the most relatable and lovable character I have read recently. I found myself relating to her on so many levels. Her inner dialogue reminded me of myself. I cannot recommend this boxed set, and series, to anyone! They are so fun!
