Really enjoyed a different genre for a change! This story was easy to read and follow. Character/relationship development was awesome!!!! I had many “what ifs” while reading which is super fun!
I did predict some stuff but not all!
Would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good “who done it” story!

When you commit your life to someone, and decide to accept their marriage proposal, how well do you really know your spouse, or could they be hiding things? Horrible things that could potentially cause your demise? That is the case with Come Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson. Her husband is always disappearing on ‘business trips’ and one day two thugs appear on her doorstep claiming he owed them money. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone. This was a fast paced novel that kept you on the edge of your seat, wondering what was going to happen next. Lots of twists and unexpected turns that will keep you turning pages. I don’t think anyone could be disappointed in picking up this one.

Erica finds out that her husband of only 9 months has been lying to her about his “work.” terry actually isn’t working at all but finding trouble like owing gambling debts to a gangster. When Erica finds out she decides to find a way to help Terry. What she didn’t expect was her life being in danger as she returns to her childhood home. Who is targeting her and why?
This is the first book I’ve read by the author. I really enjoyed her writing and world building. Erica is a character I could connect with and understand her struggles and frustration.

Come Home to Death was my first read by Marilyn Levinson. This twisty turning romance should be added to anyone’s TBR. There were some twisty turns and a good story line. This story was engaging and was a quick read. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Since I hadn’t read anything by this author before, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was getting myself into. The cover grabbed my attention immediately and didn’t even need to get halfway through the synopsis before picking it up. Once I opened this book there was no turning back. I was completely and utterly captivated from the first page to the very last. I may or may not have neglected some of my responsibilities in order to finish this book, but I had no choice! Erica is content with her life as a newlywed until things get weird, and they get weird fast. Strange circumstances revolve around her husband and her family, so who can she trust now? I won’t spoil anything at all because this book is well worth the time. I highly recommend picking it up if you enjoy mystery, suspense, and avoiding chores to read! Definitely looking forward to the next book by this author.

Come Home to Death is a romantic suspense novel full of action, drama, danger, murder, mystery, intrigue, secrets, lies, scandal, deceit, and treachery. The story centers around Erica Parker who has just fled for her life after coming home to a couple of thugs who are looking for her husband. Fearing for her safety, and that of her husband, she returns to the one place she swore she would never go again, her childhood home. From the moment she arrives in her old hometown Erica starts having a string of mysterious “accidents” that leaves her questioning her sanity and makes her uncertain who to trust. With her upcoming twenty fifth birthday looming on the horizon Erica stands to become a multi millionaire and suddenly everyone has an agenda and ulterior motives for wanting to spend time with her. Some stand to gain her inheritance if she meets an early demise which makes anyone, including those who love her the most, as potential suspects. A fantastic story with engaging characters, and twists and turns that kept me riveted until the end to see whodunit. I will be looking for more books by this talented author!

Erica Parker is madly in love with her newly married husband. She puts up with his mysterious schedule until the truth comes out about where he has been. She goes back home, a place she swore she would never go again, to help him get out of his situation. Going home was one of the worst mistakes of her life! This book is well written and keeps the writer engaged and guessing who is behind all the trouble in her life the entire time!

This was a really enjoyable read. The story was so cleverly written that I didn’t know who the real culprit was and my opinions changed all through out the book.
The saying is true that money is the root of evil and it definitely is in this case. This story so full of danger, suspense, secrets, lies, a little romance, and a constant feeling of not knowing who you can trust.
Erica thought her life was good until she finds out things about her husband which put them in danger. As she tries to help Terry out of the debt he is in she realises that her husband isn’t the man she thought he was.
While Erica is left with the feeling she doesn’t know the man she married she is also blind-sided to find out she is set to get a lot of money when she turns 25.
Just when she thinks that’s their problems solved Terry leaves her and then winds up dead. Was it an accident or something more sinister?
When Erica gets a warning about her safety from Terry’s life, Erica is now left wondering who she can and can’t trust. Why would anyone one to harm her? Could it be due to the money she is due to get? Or is it something to do with Terry’s past.
Can she figure out who is trying to harm her and protect herself before it’s too late?
This story is full of shady character so you will definitely be left guessing who is the person who is trying to harm her. I was completely captivated by this book and I couldn’t put it down.

An entertaining read with an intriguing storyline which kept me hooked throughout. Full of drama and suspense this was a real page turner, and the mystery element kept me guessing especially with the plot twists and red herrings. Nine months after her wedding Erica’s husband is away on another business trip when two thugs turn up, claiming he owes their boss a large amount of money from a gambling debt. Not wanting to stay at their apartment and fearing for her life a frightened Erica returns to her childhood Long Island home. She’s not been back long and with her aunts who raised her being just as interfering and controlling as always, she remembers why she escaped and has not been back for three years. Erica has a trust fund from her parent’s life insurance and her plan is to ask the family attorney for an advance so she can pay of her husbands debt and return to her life. However, she is shocked when he refuses saying that if she waits until her twenty fifth birthday she will inherit millions. With not long to wait she agrees but discovers that her aunts are keeping secrets, and with her husband still missing and people turning up dead, she realises that someone is trying to kill her and before her birthday. I felt fully immersed in this story as the descriptive narrative brought both the characters and the setting to life. I liked the mix of characters, some likeable and some not but who all brought their own personalities to the story. An enjoyable and engaging book.

This story is a slow rolling mystery. There is a little romance, mostly one sided it seems. There are many secrets being kept in this story, right up until the end. The plot flowed with these secrets and the good number of characters keeping them. The main character, Erica, is too trusting of not only her new husband but of every person she meets. She believes everything she hears. “You’re a gusty, intelligent woman, but sometimes you act like a brainless fool.”
Other characters include Erica’s husband Terry; her well-meaning older aunts; Doug, who is a “friend” of Terry’s; and the Hartley family. All of these characters are on my list of characters not to trust. Every one of them has a secret or two. The author’s writing leads me to believe they are all troublemakers and unable to be trusted.
Erica needs to decide what is happening around her, what happened to Terry and most importantly, she needs to survive long enough to turn 25 to inherit millions from her parents.

Erica falls for and quickly marries Terry, a man she soon realizes she doesn’t know anything about at all. They’d been married for nine months and he frequently went on weird business trips away from home. While he is away on one of the trips, Erica is confronted by two men asking where he is and telling her the truth about him having a gambling problem and owing lots of money. She decides she has to help him get out of trouble, so she moves back to her hometown with her overbearing aunts she despises living with to try and come up with the money in time. Turns out she is about to receive an inheritance that will solve all their problems. But before she turns 25 and can get her money, she keeps having weird run ins with blue cars and strangers, who seemingly keep trying to scare her or kill her. One even tried running her off the road. Erica is in over her head and finds out she really can’t trust anybody.
This book was recommended to me and I’m so glad I decided to read it. I was hooked from the beginning and it kept me guessing the whole time. Plenty of twists and mysteries throughout
Erica has a lot going on, and I was invested in all of it. Between her husband, her aunts and her childhood best friend, it seems like she has things coming at her from all sides. Throw in the fact that she is extremely close to getting an inheritance that she didn’t actually know much about, and you can see how any nearly 25 year old might be overwhelmed, guarded and questioning everything.
I definitely felt Erica’s concerns and confusion when each one person that it seemed like she should be able to trust, there was something that made that person not seem quite as trustworthy. For each wonderful thing that was going on in her life, it seemed like there was something that cancelled it out and made it not so amazing.
I truly enjoyed this book and would read more from this author.

When you get married you don’t fully know the other person. You have to get to know them and grow with them. Right? Well Erica definitely doesn’t know enough. Her husband Terry has disappeared, AGAIN, on one of his “business” trips. She doesn’t even know what he does for work! Well she’s set to find out real fast what his life is really about. Face to face with two thugs has her spiraling down quick in this book. Turns out that he has a HUGE gambling debt. As she returns home to borrow the money she keeps noticing a blue car, but she isn’t sure who owns it. Does everyone own a blue car now?? Was it chasing her. Was that a gun shot? What the heck is going on?! Are the thugs messing with her? And if so, why?!! This book is so good. It’s pretty fast paced too, so you get caught into it well while you try to figure out what the heck is going on. Right along side Erica! It seems she has a target on her back. Things keep happening to her and around her. Will what started as a simple debt, turn into her death? She gets run off the road, her husband is killed in a hit in run, she gets pushed into traffic, and the hits just keep coming in this thriller. You will be wondering up until the end with this one!! You will not be disappointed at all! SO SO GOOD!!!!

This story follows Erica on her escape from some bad people that are after her husband. Her husband left for a “business trip” and these men show up claiming he owes their boss money. Scared for her life, she flees to her childhood home. Once there, she thought she would be able to dip into her trust fund. Erica is comfortable in her life. She has a good job she mostly enjoys. She doesn’t mind her nosey landlady and likes where she lives. Things are heating up with her husband. He recently disappeared and has been gone much longer than usual. Two goons showed up at her apartment to talk about her husband. They told her things she didn’t know.
Now Erica feels she has no choice but to go home to the two overbearing aunts she left 3 years ago and see if she can convince her attorney to give her an advance on her trust fund to help out her husband. This is where things start to get screwy.
Once she has asked for the money, small things start happening. Erica is nearly run off the road by a man wearing a Darth Vader mask waving a gun. Her best childhood friend starts acting weird. Erica learns that she is about to inherit approximately $20 Million. Erica’s husband is killed in a hit and run accident. Her aunts are bickering and reveal they knew about the trust since becoming her guardians. Erica meets a man that says he was friends with her husband. Erica gets pushed out into traffic, almost getting hit by a car.
As her birthday gets closer, the strange factor just keeps getting higher. The only constant is the stranger that claims to have been friends with her husband. The only problem is Erica’s growing attraction to him. As the near death incidents start picking up, Erica is also growing up, figuring out who she is and who she wants to be.
When it hits the fan, it is the person Erica suspected the least. Betrayal by those closest to Erica hits her hard. Erica’s savior is more than he seems. And things will never go back to where they were before.
This decently paced thriller will keep you wondering.

Come Home to Death is my first introduction fo Marilyn Levinson and I would definitely read another novel by this author again. I enjoyed Erica as the main character and found myself surprised a couple times throughout the storyline. I think the story was really well written with enough twists to keep the reader entertained and engaged without being over the top.

Where is Terry? Erica is disappointed that her husband of nine months has disappeared on one of his mysterious “business” trips. As she is walking up to the apartment complex, she notices a large blue car parked in front of the building. Before she can walk upstairs, Mrs. Bressler, her landlady, stops her and says that two men are upstairs looking for Terry. Afraid, Erica runs away to a local cafe. Unfortunately, the men saw her flee and sit down in her booth. Sean and Andy claim that Terry owes their boss twenty thousand dollars for a gambling debt. Tearfully, Erica claims she didn’t know where Terry went but she gave thema note Terry had left her the previous week. Sean gives her a card and tells her to call if Terry shows up.
On her walk towards her apartment, another man pulls up in a blue car. He claims he is a friend of Terry’s and wondered if she had seen him. Erica says no, the man introduces himself as Doug and gives her a card to contact him. Erica’s determination to help her husband leads her on an uncertain path for the future.

This book has everything a good mystery needs, family secrets, money issues and attempts on someone’s life. I thought the characters were developed enough for the story line. There were twist to the story that I didn’t seem coming and played well to the overall plot. I will recommend this book to others as it was a very enjoyable read.

Come Home to Death had a lot of potential, but I just didn’t love it. It could have been a better book than it was…. The story was a good idea, but I really did not care for the main character, which made it hard to enjoy the book. Erica was such a weak character, she annoyed me. Never spoke up or stood up for herself. Made poor choices. Fell in love too quickly, more than once. I also figured out Doug’s character far before it was revealed. I think the author hoped we wouldn’t know until the very end, but it was predictable. I didn’t hate the book. It just was not a favorite… I will try another by the author- the book had a good story line, just needed stronger characters, or something to make the reader connect to them.

A book that should be added to (I’m sure Lengthy) TBR list, just go ahead and add it right now.
I really enjoyed this romantic thriller (if I were categorizing it). Levinson’s writing is very engaging, and thought provoking. There was certainly twists and turns I was not suspecting, which I enjoy. It’s always a buzz kill when you can figure out the plot twist, it’s best when you weren’t even close.
While reading Come Home to Death, I certainly learned some new vocabulary (thank goodness for the dictionary feature on the kindle).
This was my first read by Levinson but certainly not my last.

You absolutely need to read this book this summer. Starts with poor Erica being tricked and lied to by her husband, and the lies don’t stop there. Erica tries to help her husband by doing whatever she can possibly think of, even potentially severing some lifelong friendships. Along the way, Erica starts to find her voice and builds new friendships/relaionships. Everyone should read this!

Come Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson. This book was amazing. It is my favorite book I’ve read so far this year! It was fast paced and thrilling and left me guessing every page I turned! I can’t wait to read more by this author. This is the story of Erica who was raised by her aunts and once she left home she vowed never to return. She is a newlywed of 9 months and her husband is away on another of his business trips. While home alone some thugs show up telling her Terry, her husband, owes them money. Erica was left a inheritance and returns home to see if she can cash it in to pay her husband’s debts. When she returns home she finds out she has to be 25 to get her money and then she will be really rich. The only problem is some bad people want her gone so she can’t cash in on that inheritance and will do anything to get rid of her. Her life is in danger and Erica is going to have to figure out who she can trust and who she can’t. Such a fun fast paced Thriller. I was sad when it ended!

I absolutely loved this book. It took a bit for me to get into it, but once I was, I loved it. I’m not normally a mystery type person, but this book is so good at sucking the reader in while the FMC tries to navigate the hand she’s been dealt. Absolute 10/10- and I highly recommend!! The honeymoon for Erica Parker is over after 9 months. At that time her life changes and someone is out to kill her. She can’t stay as her husband’s gambling debts need to be paid and her husband has disappeared on a mystery trip. She can’t go home to the little town she is from because someone there does not want her to get her inheritance. This has to be one of the most intense mysteries I have read in a long time. So much going on and so little time to read. The author has written this story to keep her readers engaged. Some of this story could be so true. It makes you keep reading. Fast paced, great characters and a romance to remember. A must have for all readers.

Come Home to Death by Marilyn Levinson is a romantic suspense book. When Erica Parker is found and questioned by two terrifying men about her husband Terry, she is terrified and confused. She has only been married for 9 months and knows little about her husband’s work. Erica soon finds herself in a nightmare turned reality as she finds herself in a very tangled web and does not know who she can trust. This story had a good premise. There are plenty of twists and turns. Watching Erica try to figure out who was targeting her was interesting. I liked her aunts and felt they meant well. There was a very good use of vocabulary, which also helped keep the writing interesting. Lovers of suspense should give this book a read.

This was another new-to-me author, and she told a good story. There were some twists I didn’t expect, which I love! There were a few sketchy characters in which the author leads the reader to believe one truth about them, but will have you second-guessing yourself as you read.
Being newly married, Erica Parker comes home to find thugs looking for her groom (Terry) to claim a debt he owes. On the lookout for safety, Erica returns to her hometown; a place she swore she would never revisit. While there, family members and close family friends begin to show their true colors when word gets out that Erica is about to come into a large sum of money. In a few short days, she will turn 25 and become an overnight millionaire. Now, she has a target on her back. What are those around her willing to do to get a piece of her money pie?
The author uses extensive vocabulary. 1/3 of the way through, I enjoyed learning new words. However, 39% through the book, it started getting on my nerves. It was almost like she knew what word to use, researched synonyms, and picked the longest word possible to replace it. In addition to that, the chapters were incredibly long, and I’m not a fan of lengthy chapters. They were roughly 22-35 minutes per chapter.
Overall, it was a good read, and I would check out another book by her.
