This book is the 2nd book in this series and I liked it just as much if not more than the 1st book. Hadley the main character is learning to navigate and balance life between high school, friends, and boys. She learns a lot about herself in this book. I love the lesson in this series and encourage others to read it regardless of age.

This book made you feel like you were back in high school with all the teen spirit and teen relationship problems.
Hadley is the new girl and has her sights on Nick and lucky for Hadley, Nick has his eye on her. So it should be golden. Right? With high school drama there comes a lot of jealousy and questioning of everything. This story takes you through all the ins and outs of teen relationships, friend betrayal and total heartbreak.
Will Hadley and Nick last though all the drama that unfolds?

This book teaches a young woman lessons about friendship, love and betrayal. The way Ms. Krysten Hager writes her stories are something anyone young enough to acknowledge can learn from. This book is interesting but brings you back to your teenage years if you’re a mature woman who likes reading the young adult genre. Pick up your copy and you won’t be disappointed!

This is the second book in Hagar’s Star series and it is every bit as good as the last.

So Hadley’s life is a lot better off starting out in this book then the first. She’s living in Grand Haven, where she can see her grandparents and favorite aunt whenever she wants. She’s got a great, sweet boyfriend. Unfortunately it’s not all perfect, since her boyfriend is currently being pursued by a former television star; whom he used to have a huge crush on by the way.

Hagar has the kind of writing style that will transform you back into a teenager. From every insecure feeling, to family, friendships and relationships.

Competing with the Star by Ms. Krysten Lindsay Hager is one of the better stories that I have read this summer. The thing that I love most about Ms. Hager’s stories are how realistic everything is. Everything that is included in her stories is something that could easily happen in real life, and it helps keep her readers glued to the pages. Her main characters in Competing with the Star are beautifully written, both characters have a kindness that will make you feel warm and fuzzy, and their personalities are so caring they will make your heart melt. Competing with the Star is full of friendship, first loves, and the ups and downs of life in general, making it a very easy story to get lost in. So if your looking for a great summer read then I highly recommend Competing with the Star.

Krysten Lyndsay Hager had done it again. I loved this second book in the series. Hadley seems to adjusting to her new life after moving. She has the perfect boyfriend, Nick and lots of new friends including ex star Simone. Could things come crashing down? Hadley had been talking to Simone and letting her know how sweet and caring Nick is. Simone has never looked at Nick in that way until now, could this ruin Hadley’s friendship with Simone and her relationship with Nick? What will happen with these new feelings.

Competing With The Star is the second book in the Star series by Krysten Lindsay Hager.

I highly recommend this series! I really enjoyed this second book and felt I connected with the characters even more than when I read the first book, Next Door to a Star.

Hadley is at her new school with her new friends and her cute boyfriend, Nick. Life is the best it has been for her since she moved to Grand Haven. She and Nick have a great friendship and a great relationship as well and they can talk to each other about just about anything.

When Hadley finds out her boyfriend used to have a huge crush on her best friend Simone, Hadley’s whole world gets shaken up, and not necessarily in a good way! What could possibly go wrong when your best friend is a former TV star?

I really felt connected to this book and series as a whole. Even as an older adult, I could relate to how Hadley felt about that first relationship and the feelings of insecurity and if she was good enough or doing the right things. I could also relate to the friendships, and lack thereof, and how you don’t always know if your friends are who you think they are in the end.

YA contemporary is one of my favourite genres and I really feel this series would be a great addition to any young teens book collection and I highly recommend it for the 12-18 year old age range. I hope that someday Krysten writes a third book to let readers find out what happens between Hadley and Nick and the rest of the gang.

This is the 2nd book in this series, and very enjoyable and I love YA genre books. I had to keep in mind that this is high school teens and their stories. This book is about High School crushes, loves, drama and betrayal all wrapped up in one. Hadley finally is happy in a new school and has a boyfriend, Nick. Hadley is not totally secure on her looks or friendships and Nick is very sweet guy….but they have such a great relationship and also friendship building in this story. There is heartbreaking betrayal with Nick and one of Hadley’s friends, Simone. Will Hadley and Nick’s relationship survive on an ultimate betrayal?

Competing with the Star (Star Series Book 2) by Krysten Lindsay Hager was a great continuation of the Star series. Hadley is navigating new ground as she deals with ongoing teenage drama. Krysten Hager does a great job describing the feelings and development that you feel completely invested in. Nothing feels too over the top and fabricated. The flow and plot feel genuine.

This is a really sweet story about young love, insecurities and heartbreak. It was a really good read because it is relatable and the characters reminded me of situations I have found myself in when I was a teenager.

When your young you can be full of insecurities about who you are and how you compare against other people.

So when Hadley seems to have life working right with good friends and a good caring boyfriend she is just waiting for something to go wrong. And go wrong it did but is the person she’s blaming really the one to blame or is there a snake in her friends?

It is a story of finding love, getting your heartbroken and working your way through fear, emotion and insecurity to get what you want.

Hadley tackles dating drama and backstabbing female drama in this latest installment of the star series. Watching Hadley grow from the dilemma is the treat of the book. You’ll be transported back in time to your teen years as you read about the adventures of group dates, exes, dates to the nursing home and other adventures. Refreshing to see the same characters and a continuation of the series that doesn’t leave you confused. Really a good book for your young adults to enjoy. Clean and refreshing.

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. Where I had trouble relating to the obsession about celebrities and trying to fit in to the popular group in the first book, it really built a foundation for book two of the series, where Hadley’s character shined a lot brighter. Establishing a solid group of friends to rely on really helped Hadley shine through with more confidence and allowed the author to really show her kind and thoughtful nature, and she seemed to naturally help her newfound friends find their own footing to be themselves in the process, too. Where I felt like Hadley had come off kind of whiny in the first book, her portrayal in Competing With the Star was more relatable and showed her blossoming maturity. The second book almost makes me feel like I wasn’t giving her enough credit in the first book, as I really started to love Hadley by the end of the second one. The romance that develops between Hadley and Nick in Competing With the Star is sweet and tender, wrapped in honesty and vulnerability that stands in contrast to the fakeness and passive-agressive rude behavior of some of the others in their larger friends group. I also loved seeing more development of the stories surrounding the main characters’ relationships with their elderly family members, especially since that was one of my favorite things about the first novel. Although book two could certainly be read as a standalone, I kind of appreciated all the backstory that book one created for this book to really get the full picture of the characters.

This is the sequel to Next Door to a Star.
Hadley is finally feeling like she’s fitting in, but is she? She has her group of friends, a boyfriend, and it seems like everything is falling in to place. But an overheard conversation in the ladies room has Hadley questioning her relationship with Nick. Is her best friend, Simone, after him and does Nick still have a crush on Simone? After a betrayal by Simone and Nick, who can she trust?
Hadley battles through the book on who to forgive, and finds a friendship in a person she least expected to.

This book gave me all the feels and took me back to my younger days. I was an emotional mess in parts of this book. I was really feeling all the turmoil that Hadley was going through.

This is a follow up to the previous book by this author and I must say that it is another great YA read. As much as I loved the first one, I think I fell in love with the characters even more in this book. It picked up right where the previous one left off so I would highly encourage you read them in order. The characters in these books are so relatable to my own teenage angst years of high school friends and foes. It’s amazing how true to life it seems that even in a book they are trying to figure out who their real friends are and who they can and cannot trust. I think this book is great for preteens and teens. Not to mention adults that like to read young adult genre books.

Competing with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager is the second story in the Star Series. Since this book follows right after the first story line, you should read them in order.

Krysten was once again able to capture the teenage feelings and emotions in this tale. As someone who has been out of school for a while, it can be hard to remember the issues we all faced in our younger years. It’s a crucial time in our lives and unfortunately, a time that normally gets blocked out because of how hard it is. I have a young teen daughter I wish would read this series so she knows she isn’t alone.

You can get lost in the story and feel as though you are back in school dealing with these same issues. I never once had to remind myself where I was or who I was reading about. I was caught up in the story the whole time.

Competing with the Star is the 2nd book in the Star Series by Krysten Lindsay Hager. You should read them in order, as this book picks up right where the first left off. We continue to follow the life of teenager Hadley Daniels. She has recently moved to a new town, and is figuring out where she fits in socially. Over the summer, she stayed with her grandparents, and made some new friends, but teen life is confusing. She and her crush Nick have decided to make things official, which should be great news. They have so much in common and find it easy to talk to each other. However, the insecurities caused by friends comments, and rumors are prying them apart. Add in a love triangle or two, and this story is packed full of drama. Some parts had me rolling my eyes, but then I tried to remember back to what it was like being a teenager, and its spot on. Hager really captured the feelings of teenagers, both boy and girl. I love that we got to see several characters weaknesses, and how they leaned on each other, discovering who their real friends are. I think this is a great coming of age story, geared toward tween and teens, but good enough to enjoy as an adult. I look forward to reading more by this author.

After reading the first book, Next Door to a Star I was thrilled there was a sequel. Competing with a Star did not disappoint. It was full of teenage drama, love and confusion. All in all I liked the book, the drama and the realness of relationships these days.

This is a sweet story that deals with coming of age, and navigating all the tricky waters of adolescence. Hadley is a teenager who is starting to date for the first time, and although she seems to have found a great guy, it’s not without its challenges. Especially when your friends seem to be blocking the relationship at every turn. Like the first book in this series, Hadley is learning who her true friends really are, and how complex all relationships can be. Despite second-guessing herself a lot, she does manage to sift through her feelings and find a path that feels true to her.

If you liked Next Door to a Star, you’ll be right at home in the second book in this series. It took me back to the awkward days of high school, with all the feels and confusion and new experiences. Hager has a real gift for letting us remember how that time felt, in all its ups and downs.

This sweet YA Romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager, Competing with the Star is the second book in the series. As I said before Krysten is known for her YA romances and it is what she does best. It is full of drama and angst, insecurity and anxiety, jealousy, and high emotions makes life hard enough as a teenager but without confidence and trust self-doubt is a bad thing. Another great book. This is the second book and it’s just as good as the first one. You don’t have to have read the first book in order to read this one but it is my suggestion that you do because you will have a better back story of the characters and because it’s also a great story. The author does a great job in showing us the drama, insecurities, teenage feelings and more. This book is a good read for adults as well as young adults. I had a hard time putting this book down because I wanted to know what would happen in these relationships and friendships. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. I highly recommend this book.

Competing With The Star is the follow-up book to Next Door To The Star by Krysten Lindsay Hager. It is a sweet young adult romance that I really enjoyed (although I’m far from a young adult these days, lol). I had enjoyed Next Door To The Star but I must say that I enjoyed this book more than the first one.
Having moved next door to tv star Simone and becoming friends with her, Hadley is now struggling when she finds out that her boyfriend Nick used to be totally infatuated with Simone. She feels that she can’t compete with the beautiful former tv star. It’s her first ever boyfriend and she doesn’t know how to deal with it.
Added to the is the group of girls she now hangs around with. I mentioned in my review of the first book that every teenage girl should read the book. Well they should then follow it with this one. It’s such an accurate representation of how cliquey, bitchy and nasty teenage girls are, even when they are your friend, never mind them being your enemy.
I love Hadley’s character and see a lot of my teenage self in her. I never really felt that I fitted in with any group of girls and felt like an outsider at times. She’s a fantastic character that I’m sure a lot of teenage girls can relate to.
Another must read for all teenage girls.

I love YA books and this was no exception. I read it in one sitting I enjoyed it so much. Took me back to high school and first love that the world revolves around. Hadley is a down to earth teenager, that has a lot of doubt and insecurities that most of us experience as we mature and discover who we are and who we want to be. She has changed schools and went from having one good friend to finding a circle of friends she regularly hangs out with. But can she trust everyone in that circle? I enjoyed how Hadley struggles with finding who her true friends are and finding connections that were kind of a surprise. She is in love with Nick and I love how their story was sweet and innocent and didn’t just jump in to physical relations. I feel like a lot of high school stories now are all about drinking, drugs, and sex. It was a beautiful story that I would read again.

Competing with the Star by Krysten Lindsay Hagar a fab four-star read. This is number two in the Star series and its best to read them in order as they do follow on the story and build the characters. This will have you harking back to being a teenager if you aren’t one reading this story, if you are a teenager, it will be like reading your diary. Hadley will pull you as she faces her struggles, and they are struggles we all face at some point in life, it just so happens that Hadley’s seem to be happening just as she was getting it all together. I enjoyed this story, but it didn’t pull me like the first, it could be me as I am so crazy right now, so I am eagerly awaiting number three to see what will be happening next.

This is an easy to read, sweet romance that is fairly quick to read. The characters are all pretty interesting, although I didn’t find Hadley to be quite frustrating at times.
The book for me had quite a slow pace, it was a slow build up leading you gently where it wanted to take you. This is one of those stories that is a great way to pass a lazy afternoon. You can get lost in the story and everything going on.
This was an enjoyable book a good follow up to the first one.

Competing with the Star (Star Series Book 2) by Krysten Lindsay Hager. This was such a fun young adult story. I loved the first book and this one is even better. This is the story of Hadley who is finally feeling like she has all that she has ever wanted, good friends, a super cute boyfriend and a little bit of confidence. Nick is her boyfriend and he’s the “perfect” guy to Hadley. He loves sports and just is an all around great guy. One of her great friends is Simone Henderson who is a TV Actress and Hadley loves her but when she starts hearing rumors of Simone and Nick messing around her whole worlds shifts. When the rumor is confirmed to be false Hadley is still in her head about it and is not sure how her relationships with both of them will be in the future. This is such a good young adult read about high school relationships!
