My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Beyond Friendship is a very cute read that I felt kept me engaged throughout the entire book. The. characters were well developed and relatable to people we all know!
While part of a series this could also be read by itself.
Make sure to have Kleenex handy!

My Pearl Heart by J.N. Sheats – Review by Carrie Reed

My Pearl HeartMy Pearl Heart by J.N. Sheats
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So perfect! The beginning was kind confusing, it was also weird how the story backtracked to how Jasmine and James first met, that part just didn’t flow, but didn’t take away from the overall story. I love Jasmine, she is such a caring and giving woman. She takes care of her employees and is worried bout their welfare over her own, so seeing her, so called, best friend Cadence ruin what little relationship they had was just excellent. I hated to see Jasmine so distraught but Cadence really is a trash person and didn’t deserve anything she had, and it was nice to see her put in her place. James is wonderful. I love how in love he is with Jasmine, and that he has such a sweet dream. I really didn’t see Bryan, Jasmine’s boyfriend’s betrayal coming, but it was a doozy, and made for a wonderful story! I look forward to more from this author.

Hot for Teacher: Shakespeare Made Us Fall in Love by Felicia Carparelli

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Hot for Teacher is a short, steamy read. A modern day twist on Romeo and Juliet. I love that the teacher’s name is Juliet.

Juliet teaches college courses and finds that she’s got herself a Pirate Romeo. When a former student corners her one night her Romeo comes to the rescue. She finds herself in a dangerous situation. Then she finds that she’s falling for Jim. The quote I chose for Juliet is: “For Thursday night, please read the next twenty-eight pages , that will take us up through the wedding of Romeo and Juliet and the fight between the Montagues and the Capulets resulting in Tybalt and Mercutio’s deaths. I have a question sheet for you to take home tonight. It will help you with your reading.”

Jim is a ex Marine and his sons said he needs to get out and about. He decides that a college class about Shakespeare will be a good fit. He finds himself falling for the teacher and has no problem asking her to marry him. The quote I chose for Jim is: “There are rehab programs and counselors even in jail. Charles needs more help than even you gave him. You have to believe that.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

The characters come to life off the pages and are so well paired that the reader can’t help but wanting to continue to turn the page and read more!
I will be looking out for the next books in the series!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is amazing. It is a really quick read but it does not disappoint. You would think that with a name like Clover, you would have all the luck. Not the case in this book. There is an adorable meet-cute in this book between the main characters. One is not living enough and the other is living a little to much. Can they meet in the middle and find solid ground? This book is truly a romantic story full of optimism, love, and fun. You won’t be disappointed to read it and can read it in a day. It is a great little escape. The characters are relatable and the writing style pulls you in from the start. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

This book wiggled its way into my heart and I’m so glad I found it. Scott and Franceen pulled me into their world and I just couldn’t find the will to leave it until the end came. I instantly felt a connection with Franceen I really like her story and character. This story is sweet and a bit emotional but so worth it. It will definitely pull at your heart strings. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters you just can’t help but connect with. I’m excited for more from this series. Five stars and highly recommended!

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters)A Hundred Wishes by Marianne Rice
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and she blew me away. I love a good military romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. This is the third book in the band of sisters series. It can be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I fell in love with these characters right from the start. Once I started to read it, I could not put it down until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Army sergeant Gina Fisher is ready to move on with her life. She was involved in a roadside bombing and lost most of her fleet. It has been two years and she has some serious burns that will never heal. She now wears clothes to hide herself. Gina has found a passion in crafting. She teaches kids how to sew and other crafts online. Gina is at a show one day and she sees this guy that she can’t keep her eyes off. In the beginning they had a miscommunication that almost made them not meet. She is falling for Bryce fast but will he be able to see the real her or will it be too much for him?

Gina and Bryce’s story is absolutely one of the best I have read in a long time. Two people from two walks of life find each other but will the issues that arise in their lives bring them closer or will it tear them apart for good.
Marianne Rice has the knack to make you feel like you are right there experiencing the same feeling that the characters are feeling. I was brought to my knees many times reading this heart tugging great read.

A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sisters) by Marianne Rice

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. This is the first book in the Band of Sisters Series that I’ve read. Gina and Bryce will have you wanting more.

Gina was honorably medically discharged from the Army after a bombing. Three years have passed and she still hasn’t gotten used to her scars being on display. Sex is great if there is no touching, no lights, and clothes still being on. Everything changes when she meets Bryce. The quote I chose for Gina is: “But you did it, Bryce. You touched me, loved me, and weren’t repelled by what you saw. Trust me, I’d have known if you were. I was looking for it. Waiting for it and it didn’t come. You’re okay with my scars because you never witnessed the pain. Your heart is big. It doesn’t make you weak or cowardly. It makes you human. It makes you loveable.”

Bryce is an arson inspector and a former firefighter. Being organized is his thing until he meets Gina. He’s able to break down her walls one by one. Will he be able to get past his own fears and his own demons for her? The quote I chose for Bryce is: “Sh. You know what those scars show? Your bravery. Your spirit. You saved lives and risked your own, as a soldier is trained. You’re freaking bada**. You may sew and work the craft fair like a domestic, domicile, housewife, but underneath those bulky sweatshirts, the thick scarves… underneath is a bada** beautiful woman who I so desperately want to make love to.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.
