Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery by Rosie Pease is the second book in the Matchmaking Baker series. This book can be read as a stand-alone and is a fun and spirited story. There is no way you can avoid falling in love with this book and the characters. They are such entertainment and I was drawn in to them instantly. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have definitely found a new author to look into. She had such an easy writing style that you are pulled into the book without any effort at all. This was one of those books that I expected to enjoy but didn’t expect to read it all in one sitting like I did. This is a brilliant book with a great set of characters – I would highly recommend reading this book immediately!!

This is a lovely little holiday story of sweet romance. Full of magic creatures causing havoc. It has a very unique story line that cheers you up. It’s an amazing cozy mystery you can find yourself curled up wrapped in a warm blanket and this is the book you’d read. Joanie at the bakery and is at the heart of the story.

This was extremely cute and a great read for Christmas! It’s packed full of Christmas and baking but we also a cosy little mystery with magic and matchmaking which of course is happening in the best season. The festive spirit is suddenly gone when things begin to disappear and it’s Joanie’s reputation at risk. This was a really sweet and interesting story it kept me hooked and really engaged in reading and overall it was just so good! A shorter book but nevertheless done really well still!

I love a nice Christmas read so I was really looking forward to this when I found it and I wasn’t disappointed it was a fantastic read from beginning to end. I loved the characters and the storyline. This is a new to me author and I love her engaging writing style, my attention was held from beginning to end. I really felt like I was there at the bakery with Joanie and her bakers, the new imaginative baking creations they created made me want to reach for the cookies! The descriptive details meant that I could imagine exactly what I was reading from the details of the cookies and even what they smelt like. I thoroughly enjoyed this magical, Christmas inspired read and would highly recommend it to others! I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author as well in the future.

LOVED THIS BOOK! I was eager to read this from the charming synopsis. I love a good cozy mystery and love finding new authors. And what a goldmine I stumbled on! This book stands beautifully on its own but now that I know there are more by the author in this universe I cannot wait to get my hands on them all! Where have I been that I missed this sweet and engaging author?? I haven’t read anything by her but when it came across my timeline I saw the bright and sweet cover and knew I had to check it out and see what story laid beyond it. I was so pleasantly surprised with how much this novel swept me off my feet as I read. This book has all the holiday cheer you could want with a holiday book and plenty of other layers like cozy mystery, romance, and some paranormal tidbits as well. There is literally something for everyone in this perfect holiday read. I will personally be going back for more of Heartwood Hollow’s stories and more of Joanie I hope as well. These characters will make you feel as if you have a whole new family to visit from time to time. I want someday to experience a small town Christmas like the Hallmark movies tote because it seems so magical and unique. This book read like a Hallmark movie and has won a spot on my favorite list. I can’t wait to see what else Rosie Pease has available and whatever may come in the future from her!

Christmas in Heartwood Hollow is supposed to be peaceful and loving time with a little magic thrown in to make it special. It is full of matchmaking, magic and roaming Gnomes but when things go haywire and the finger is pointed but is it pointed at the right culprits? Just who is behind it and will they get back on track for a wonderful Christmas spirit? The story is a short read but is a real ‘whodunnit’ mystery, just what is needed to get in the festive mood.

‘Sweets and Santa’ is an enjoyable paranormal Christmas cozy mystery novella and part of ‘The Matchmaking Baker’ series, however it can be read as a standalone story. The storyline is packed full of mystery, magic, and matchmaking which is all happening at Christmas. It is Joanie’s first Christmas as a bakery owner and although she is confident with her perfect recipes she is less happy with her holiday window decorating skills. The festive spirit in the town of Heartwood Hollow is overshadowed when items start disappearing and when an engagement ring goes missing from the bakery Joanie’s reputation is at risk. Having believed her town to be safe baker and matchmaker Joanie wonders if it’s a prank or something more sinister. As well as trying to find the ring and win over the town with her cookies, Joanie is also concerned about the Christmas gnomes that get moved each night. Joanie needs some Christmas magic to help her work out the mystery and I was definitely left feeling full of the Christmas spirit having read this fun novella. An enjoyable and engaging read, I was hooked from start to finish and enjoyed solving the Christmas mystery alongside Joanie. I look forward to reading other books in this series.

Sweets and Santa: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery is the second book in The Matchmaking Baker Series by Rosie Pease. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this author before now- because after reading this, I know that I’ve been missing out on some wonderful stories. I enjoyed this book so much that I will definitely be going back to one-click as many more of her books as I can find. This is a wonderful Christmas story- full of all the magic and spirit of Christmas that makes these types of books such a delight to read, anytime of the year. It has a small-town community feel- with mystery, magic, secrets, a little of the paranormal- and some unique and clever touches that really made this story quite memorable. Joanie’s is one of Heartwood Hollow’s newer residents- a gifted baker, she has spent a long time renovating her bakery and getting everything just right. She opened the doors to her shop some months ago- and even though she has had the bakery for more than a year, this is the first Christmas she will be able to enjoy in her new hometown. Things are getting underway and all the businesses are decorating for the holiday- so she is extra excited to join in all the festivities, decorate her shop front- and even come up with a few unique Christmas recipes. But things begin to go missing from all around town, and adding to the mystery- the town seems to be overrun with decorative gnomes. Things take on an intriguing turn the closer to Christmas we get- making for a sweet, feel-good story. I will be diving in to explore more of Ms. Pease’s stories, and the rest of this series as soon as possible.

I found Liliana Hart by accident about 8 or 9 years ago when I saw the cover to her first JJ Graves book and that book blew me away. I’m a bit behind on the series, but every book I have read has been loved. So, when I was looking for a quick cozy mystery book I came across this one and let me tell thank goodness i did! The setting is perfect, I love that it’s light but has mystery and I love the connection between Agatha and Hank. I would have liked to see a little more build up and suspense in the book like she writes in the JJ Graves series, but I’m hoping that will happy as the series progresses. If you are looking for a light cozy mystery that is a quick read then grab this book!

What a fun read! This is my first book by this author, so I knew nothing about the characters or world this is set in. While I liked Joanie in this book, I hope she grows more into herself in future books. However, this book seems like it’s leading up to things, which is great for me, you are constantly waiting for the next thing to happen. Trying to solve the puzzle is the best part of a cozy mystery and this book exceeds expectations in that part. I love this inclusion of the gnomes too, what a brilliant, fun, and original idea! The other characters in this world really make this good book exceptional.
If you are a fan of paranormal cozy mysteries, I definitely recommend this book.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. I picked this book up because first I love a cozy mystery and the cover was interesting and the blurb was enough to have me hooked. This is my first book by this author and I’m already a forever fan. The second I finish this review I will be going to her page and getting whatever is available with this series and these characters.
I can’t even describe in words the writing style of this author who had me so wrapped up on page 1 that I couldn’t stand it when I had to put the book down for things like “adulting” yuck!
I felt like I was transported to Heartwood Hollow while I was reading, I could envision everything and it just deepened my desire to move to a small town just like it. Suncraft Bakery is like an unspoken dream of mine so living that through Joanie in this story was like experiencing it for myself. Now I want it even more, add a few books and tables in the bakery and call it done LOL The writing in this story made me feel like while the recipes were being created that I had to wipe flour off my hands, I could smell the creations. Simply amazing!
The storyline is so unique and it seems that it’s an ongoing story and from what I’m seeing the full length novels start next, this has me needing them even more since I hated when this one was done. Adding in the matchmaking and the little pieces of paranormal as she did was genius. You don’t even really realize it’s a paranormal although it obviously is.
This is EASILY one of my favorite reads of 2020 and I will have them all as well as following this author for whatever else she comes up with!

I enjoyed this paranormal Christmas mystery. This is a well written story that has characters that bring the Christmas spirit and a whodunit mystery to the holiday season. This story is about Joanie. She is in a new town and has a new bakery on top of it. Things start disappearing around town including her bakery which could put her in a bad position. Will she find what is missing? Will Christmas magic be on her side? I enjoyed how the characters brought the story to life and made it feel realistic. It is a shorter story but it was well done and easy to read. I highly recommend this holiday book.

Although this is the third book in this series, for me it is the first book I’m reading by this author. The wonderful thing is the book is written so you can pick up who the characters are and not feel slighted – I’m still planning on getting the first two books. The author shares with us the description of the setting so we feel like we are part of this mystery that takes place back in 1931 on a cruise ship. The story has deception, jealousy, danger, and a mystery. I’m sure fans of cozy mysteries will love this series.

Murder Makes Waves is the third book in the Jack and Frances mysteries by Carmen Radtke. This is my first read by this author and I really didn’t know what to expect going in, but I love me a good cozy mystery especially when they are packed with danger, crime and murder . Im a huge fan of any historical genre so this was right up my alley beings it was set in 1931. This author has a unique way of telling a story and making you feel as if you are right there with them. The characters are relatable and fun. I’m definitely going to check out the first two books in this series. Frances and Jack take a job on a voyage cruise ship doing magic. But when a passenger is found dead they find themselves taking on a new role of finding the murderer. Will they figure out who the murderer is? Find out what happens next in this must read fast paced cozy mystery. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is a great story with plenty of intrigue, suspense and twists. I hadn’t read any books by this author or the previous books in this series, which would have probably helped establish the characters better. Still, I grew to understand the characters Jack and Frances quickly. I also loved the setting of a voyage to England from Australia, as an Australian being able to understand many of the cultural references, and the historical details were a delight. It’s a kind of cozy read and highly entertaining. Having enjoyed this story, I would read the other books in this series now.

Carmen Radtke is a new author to me and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This book has a solid storyline. This is accomplished by the detail writing by Carmen Radtke. Her characters are fully developed and complicated. The feeling I had reading this book is a fun cozy mystery story. I finished it in one sitting as I felt drawn into the story. I love the fact that it was done on water which makes this story even more interesting. Our main characters Frances and Jack are an act on a voyage ship doing a magic act. They were called into action when a passenger was murdered. Will Frances and Jack find the murderer? What else can possibly happen while investigating this murder? I highly recommend this story.

Murder makes waves is book 3 of a series. I’m guessing you do not have to read the books in order because I haven’t read any others in the series and I didn’t feel lost. This was a good mystery book with great character and a good storyline. My favorite character of course is Uncle Sal. I feel like he made the book. I’m not a big mystery reader but I did enjoy reading the book. The author did a great job describing 1931. I would definitely recommend this read for the mystery lovers out there.

Murder Makes Waves is the third book in the Jack and Frances mysteries series by Carmen Radtke. I loved taking a trip back to the early 1930s with this cozy mystery. Frances Palmer with her fiancé Jack Sullivan take a voyage from Australia to England with Frances’ Uncle Sal. They land their spot on the “Empress of the Sea” by performing entertaining magic tricks and stunts. What seems like a good time suddenly starts to shift as Jack and Frances find themselves running with different crowds. A passenger is found dead so the two decide to solve the mystery of the murder to clear the name of one of Frances’ new friends. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I thoroughly loved each character that the author brought to life. I highly recommend this mystery and look forward to reading others in the series.

Murder Makes Waves takes you on a glamorous 1920’s cruise full of glitzy luxury and suspenseful thrills. If you’re not busy enjoying the palatial setting with the main cast of characters, then you’re solving mysteries and crimes. I found Frances, a humble young woman from Australia, really charming. Her down to earth attitude and straightforward common sense felt reminiscent of a Nancy Drew type of character. Similarly, her dashing fiancé, Jack, made an equally good Ned Nickerson-esque counterpart. Carmen Radtke did a good job taking classic murder mystery tropes and breathing life into them. I highly recommend this book. It’s well written and a fun read.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this novel, as Carmen Radtke is a new author to me. I loved the cover and it drew me in right away. When I sat down to read this book I felt as if I was whisked away to the far past when sailing was a luxury and way of life. The mystery behind this story was fabulously written and engaging. I almost felt as if I was a murder mystery dinner play having the time of my life figuring out who dun it with the wonderful cast of characters that make up this book. This is the third book in the Jack and Frances mysteries but I had zero problem jumping right in and loving France and Jack. I am excited to find out what they get up to in the first two books now that I have devoured this one. If mysteries are your thing this is a series you don’t want to miss out on!

Murder Makes Waves by Carmen Radtke a fantastic four-star read. All aboard the SS London, in the charming and witty mystery, I didn’t realise this was book three in the series until I had already picked it up, but I didn’t feel like I missed anything. Frances, Jack and Uncle Sal all felt real and full characters, I didn’t miss any back story, so I loved that, it also has some great other characters as well. This was good as you could imagine yourself aboard in the 1930’s soaking up the atmosphere, I did feel it missed something, but I couldn’t put my finger in it.

Main characters Frances Palmer, her fiancé Jack Sullivan, and Frances Uncle Sal, aka “Salvatore the Magnificent” are on the “Empress of the Sea”, on a voyage from Australia to England. It’s a dream come true for Frances and she’s looking forward to the glamour of the voyage and the mimosas and masquerades, however she wasn’t expecting a murder. Having been hired to entertain the passengers with their daring stunts and magic tricks they soon realise that the cheerful atmosphere does not continue below deck, which is full of larceny and jealousy. Following a costume ball a passenger is found dead and one of Frances’s new friends is accused of their murder. Convinced her friend is innocent Frances and Jack decide to investigate the case for themselves. The pair find themselves up against a cunning murderer and along with their new friends they must discover the truth among all the deception. This was an enjoyable and engaging story set during the charm of the ‘Golden Age’ and the glamour of a voyage from Australia to England. The storyline is fast paced and the plot is full of twists which had me both hooked and kept me guessing until the end. The characters are all wonderfully defined and all add something different to the overall story. Thanks to the authors detailed descriptive narrative I felt fully immersed in the novel and look forward to reading the previous books in the series to catch up with Jack and Frances.

When I first read the synopsis for this book I was a little intrigued, it sounded good so thought I would give it a go. When I first started reading it I wondered if I would enjoy it especially since I’ve not read the first two in the series but I absolutely did. It was a really good read. The author’s writing was detailed and descriptive which enabled me to imagine what I was reading and for me this made the story even more enjoyable. I loved the main characters Frances and Jack as well as some great secondary characters too. I will definitely be reading the first two in the series now and I am looking forward to more from this series also. This book was a great introduction to Ms Radtke as a new author!

Murder Makes Waves (Jack and Frances mysteries Book 3) by Carmen Radtke. I absolutely loved this book. Its my favorite genre which helps but the characters were so fun! Its the story of Frances Palmer, her fiance Jack Sullivan and her Uncle Sal. The three are hired to work on “The Empress of the Sea” a ship that is travelling from Australia to England. They have been hired to entertain the passengers on the ship with magic and stunts but when one of the passengers is murdered the trio decide to investigate to clear the name of a new friend. Set in 1931 I loved the description of the clothes, food and entertainment it made me feel as if I was actually there. I haven’t read the prior 2 books but I was not lost at all. I will go back and read them because I enjoyed this one so much! Do yourself a favor and pick up one or all of these books! You won’t be disappointed!

I greedily dove straight into this story and enjoyed every page. Radtke delivers a colorful story with great characters and an interesting storyline. I love period fiction and relish in a good cozy mystery. This book delivered on all counts and is one I will gladly go back and read again.

Murder Makes Waves is the third book in the Jack and Frances Mystery series by Carmen Radtke. This is my first read by Ms. Radtke, so I really didn’t know what to expect going into the book. I was definitely intrigued and as I love a good cozy mystery, I happily snapped up a copy to explore. The story is a cleverly woven historical murder mystery set in 1931, on a cruise ship on the high seas. The story is full of danger, jealousy, deception, murder, theft, crime & investigation- and with a cunning adversary to deal with. I enjoyed meeting Jack and Frances, along with Uncle Sal, Aunt Mildred, the other secondary characters, and of course Tinkerbell the Corgi. Even though this is the third book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone, without feeling like you are missing any details. The characters did intrigue me enough to want to go back and read the other two books to see what Jack and Frances have been up to previously. I am sure to learn a great deal more about them, as well as backstory information that I am looking forward to discovering. A fun read.

Murder Makes Waves: A Cozy Jack and Frances mystery by Carmen Radtke is the third book in the Jack and Frances mystery series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. This book reminded me of a good old fashioned mystery story and was made even more exciting by the fact that it is set in the 1930’s. The author does a great job of creating a vivid picture of that time. Although I haven’t read any of the other books in the series I found it really easy to connect with the characters. They were easy to relate to and added depth to the story. The overall story was intriguing and definitely kept me guessing right to the end. This is a great book and one I would definitely recommend.

I enjoyed this mystery story. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to reading more from her. This is a well developed story with the author’s great attention to details made the story realistic. The characters are strong and entertaining. They bring the story to life and made the story easy to read. This is a fast paced story that I found to be engaging to the end. Frances and Jack take a job on a voyage ship doing magic. When a passenger is found dead, they take on a new role of finding the murderer. Will they find their murderer? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens. This is a great cozy story that comes to life and pulled me in from the first chapter. I think that you would enjoy this just as much as I did.
