A Dark Sparrow Box Set (Books 1-6) by India Kells

Lost Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #1)

This is the first book in A Dark Sparrow Series. This is the first book I’ve read by the author, but it won’t be my last. Kells has really done a great job writing this.

Deva, a Dark Sparrow, goes to help Lazarus. He wants to watch his brothers and make sure he’s kept out of harm’s way. Little does Deva know that the brother is going to capture her heart. The quote I chose for Deva is: “I agree. And I couldn’t stop thinking about what Finch and my father had said. All those speeches about patience, about preparing for war. What if he was speaking about a war from within? What if Finch had prepared things way in advance, and placed his pawns in strategic places.”

Aleksei, Lazarus’s half brother, trains at the gym only to find his Angel there. He keeps her at arms length, but when he’s injured she’s the one to help him. Things get tough and he pushes her away. The quote I chose for Aleksei is: “You put yourself in danger! I told you to stay at the hotel under Lance and Kai’s protection, but you didn’t listen. You don’t listen! And now that I know you are safe, still breathing , still alive and whole…”

Cold Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #2)

This is the second book of A Dark Sparrow Novels. As the second book I’ve read by the author I can say I’ve enjoyed it. Kells knows how to capture a reader’s attention.

Zoe knows her languages and is requested by Beatrice for a favor. Keep an eye on one of Lazarus’s half brothers. Not sure what she’s getting herself into she goes. She finds herself going back to the past. The quote I chose for Zoe is: “You had love in your life, and even if you struggled and battled through some tough times, you had a choice to do something with it. Grabbing that power. I will never judge you for the decisions you made, that path on the dark side. I would have done the same thing. Hell, I’m doing it right now. At least love brought you back. You always have a choice, Archer. Never forget that.”

Archer Blackwood, moves from London to Chicago, a cold man needs someone who can translate languages for him. What he doesn’t know is his half brother is really looking out for him. Zoe has thawed the cold man a little. The quote I chose for Archer is: “Don’t put yourself in danger, do you hear me? Steer clear of Finch. You’re mine.”

Wild Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #3)

The third book in A Dark Sparrow Novels. Kells has really upped her game from the first two books. Lazarus is at it again with helping one of the many half brothers and Kells captures it perfectly.

Isabel is the next Dark Sparrow to be called upon the favor. What she doesn’t realize when she agrees to the meeting is she’ll be running right into the past’s arms. Jones isn’t who she expected to see and it gets better. The quote I chose for Isabel is: “No pressure. Because all I want is you.”

Kai, Delta Force, goes to another meeting in hopes to bring down his father, Finch. What he’s not expecting is for the girl who broke his heart and got away is the one that’s helping. Things don’t go as planned and it scares him. The quote I chose for Kai is: “Are you still set on returning to work tomorrow?”

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4) by India Kells

Kells knows how to get attention with everything she writes. So far I’ve read all The Dark Sparrow Novels and I can’t wait for more. These characters will never be forgotten.

Liam, a cop and the fourth brother to Lazarus, is upset that they didn’t bring down their father. Gabrielle had to leave as an emergency came up, but she brought a gift. Someone to cut Finch’s money. The quote I chose for Liam is: “I never played you, in any way, Catriona. I’ve never liked deception. When I kissed you, it was because I couldn’t help myself. If Deva hadn’t barged in, things would’ve gone further than a kiss. I only stopped because I think you’re making a mistake.”

Catriona, very close to becoming a nun, is brought to Chicago to help a family out. With the eldest brother being in a coma she does what she can. When she uncovers something she runs, but she saves someone else. The quote I chose for Catriona is: “We’re on this earth to make mistakes. Do you think that’s the first time I’ve ever thought about being with a man, sleeping with one? When you choose a path, you have to relinquish several more. No one goes into a religious life without considering that, otherwise, the weight of the commitment would break you in two. I haven’t slept with anyone because each time I was convinced it was the wrong decision, until you.”

Dark Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel # 5 by India Kells

This is another great read by Kells. Dark Bastard was an amazing read and I can’t wait for the next one. It’s part of A Dark Sparrow Series, but can be read as a standalone.

Ellie is trying to live one day at a time, but being a 911 dispatcher is hard. Especially when she thinks she can save someone’s life. The quote I chose for Ellie is: “And you know nothing about me, Sam. And yet, you stopped that final jump because of me. We’re strangers who have lost their way yet found each other. I see honor in you, a protector of your brothers. You may have reached the end of your rope that night, but I believe your strength is still greater than your pain. I don’t care that I don’t know everything about you. I think that for the moment, staying alive is the only solution we have.”

Sam is feeling lost and ready to give up on life. He decides to call his brother only to get a wrong number. When he does hear the person’s voice it changes everything for him. The quote I chose for Sam is: “I couldn’t forget the sadness in your voice when you hung up on me. It’s the only reason I persisted. I want nothing from you, just the reassurance that you’re all right.”

King Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel #6 by India Kells

This is not the first book I’ve read by the author. The Dark Sparrow Novels get better each one I read. King Bastard is by the far the best and we get to learn more about the head guy.

Lazarus is known for protecting his brothers from their father. So far each of them have found their happily ever after. Sasha came into his life when it was at his lowest and she just might be the best thing that has happened to him. The quote I chose for Lazarus is: “I didn’t know you’d worked with her so many times during your missions.”

Sasha comes back to the states after being away for a while. She gets a call from Lazarus’ mother and now has a place to stay. Can she get through to Lazarus that they can be more than friends? The quote I chose for Sasha is: “Sorry. I don’t come home a lot, and when I do, my brain takes time to adjust. I compare the life here and back there, seeing the inequalities, and it blows my mind.”

This was one amazing box set. Dark romantic suspense lovers these are your books!

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book SeriesDark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Stars

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series contains the entire collection of books in the Dark Sparrow Series by India Kells. I keep saying it, but I have loved everything India Kells has written, and these books are no exception. She is one of my favourite authors and I one-click anything she releases, no questions asked. This is a fantastic opportunity to get a complete series in one exciting boxset. They definitely provide a riveting read, from beginning to end- as expected Ms. Kells has woven some really gripping, well thought out, and completely engrossing stories. Each book focuses on one of the bastard ‘brothers’ and the woman who steals his heart. But the brothers also have recurring roles in the overall series too. Each book adds to the series, building on what came previously, painting a bigger picture in the process, adding layers and facets to the overall storyline.
My review for each individual book can be found on each title, separately, below is a general overview of this thrilling boxset.

The Box Set contains:

Lost Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book One)
This is Aleksei and Diva’s story. If you are a MMA/ Russian Mafia romantic suspense lover, then this is one book you won’t want to miss.

Cold Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book 2)
We follow Archer and Zoe through all the intriguing developments in this fantastic second chance romance. Even though I have adored all the books and characters in this series- this one dug itself a little deeper into my heart and is definitely one of my favourites.

Wild Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book 3)
I loved Isabelle and Kai’s story, and I am sure you will too. There is danger, suspense and second chances that will have you hooked right till the end.

True Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book 4)
This is the story of Liam Harker and Sister Catriona Walsh. The sinner and the nun. Yes, a nun!!! And their story was every bit as intriguing as you might imagine! I loved that this book also helps to build a bigger picture of the brothers and their on-going father issues.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book 5)
Sam and Ellie’s story- OMG did I feel for those two. They have been through so much and I was so happy they found each other- but that’s not to say there weren’t a few anxious moments through the story. I could feel their sadness and the weight of their ‘burdens’. Sam was ready to end it all- but a misdialled number connects him with Ellie- and so the adventure began.

King Bastard (Dark Sparrow Book 6)
This was such a bittersweet read for me. Having read all the previous instalments, I truly connected with this band of brothers and looked forward to following each one as they got their own book. So, knowing this was the last book in the series was sad- I was sooo not ready to say goodbye…. But at the same time, I desperately wanted to know how things would finally play out, but more importantly, getting a front row seat to the ‘Oz’ show- and what a fantastic show it was!! Ms. Kells definitely had me completely engrossed in the story- I devoured the book in a couple of hours, just so I could find out what happens.

These books are so well written with lots of complexities, depth, and texture- which resulted in exciting and incredibly compelling stories. There was a lot of funny quips and banter too, which help to lighten and balance all the action, emotion, and highly charged moments that occur throughout the series.
I love the way Ms. Kells develops her characters, they are all fantastic, and entirely interesting (even the baddies)- pulling me further and further into the story, and always leaving me with a desperate need to know what’s going to happen next.
Ms. Kells creates quite brilliant, intricate, and suspenseful storylines which included lots of action, danger, deadly games of cat and mouse, perilous situations, evil masterminds, lots of secrets, difficult choices, shocking revelations, electrifying chemistry, plenty of sizzle… and so much more!
I really recommend this Box Set, as I am sure you will love it just as much as I have.
I can’t wait for Ms. Kells next release, whatever that may be!
Happy Reading!

Thank you, India Kells!

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The heat between Sam and Ellie is smoldering but there’s a much deeper connection between them, just longing to be explored. Fate had Sam dial Ellie’s number that night when they were each so close to ending it all. They found a lifeline in each other and the evil monster that is his father brought them even closer together. When I read what that monster did to Sam when he was a young boy my heart absolutely broke for him. No child should have to go through that. Ellie is just the gentle soul that he needed to begin to heal his wounds and allow him to feel his heart again and give him a reason to live. There is so much action and danger in this story and so much heartbreak, until the very amazing ending that took my breath away. This story is incredible and absolutely one not to be missed!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Having a deep dark past can push you to a point of no return. Sam has finally had it. The last straw has finally broken. Dark Bastard is the fifth book in the Dark Sparrow Series by India Kells. Just as amazing as the books that came before it, this story takes us on a journey of two broken souls and a past that comes back to threaten them once again. Sam is about to make the most important call of his life when he makes a mistake and winds up talking to a woman who just might need him more than he thinks. And just when he thinks that Ellie is going to be okay, that deep dark past I spoke about earlier, yeah that one…well that comes back to hit him right in the face. Sam and Ellie both seem to have similar situations. Both the need to feel like the hero and savior and they both have sordid pasts. These two characters work so well together. You can’t help but fall in love with them and the story itself. I completely love this book and love this series. Of course, I always suggest that you read the series from the beginning that way you aren’t lost. However, you can read this book by itself. This book will not disappoint and I most definitely cannot wait to read the last book in the series!

This was an intriguing story from the beginning to the explosive end. Both Sam and Ellie are ready to embrace death after different traumatic events begin to take their toll, but a misdialed number brings them together in a twist of fate. Sam seeks out Ellie to make sure she’s okay, and she gets dragged into his dark, twisted world when his dad kidnaps them both for a sick agenda to take Sam under his wing. The pair work together to find an escape, but it’s uncertain if they can survive the mental anguish and seeds of doubt Sam’s dad plants during their captivity. They fall in love, but can they survive long enough to find a happy ending together.

Dark Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel by India Kells. This author never lets me down. Each book I get to read is better than the last. Sam and Ellie may have seriously stolen my heart with their story. From page one I was drawn in and couldn’t put the book down. I loved the time I got to spend with these characters, they had a way of bringing the storyline to life and it was an honor to read. I love books with characters who go through what would break others but makes them stronger. This book fit that completely. This is definitely going in the top 5 of favorite reads for this year. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Five huge stars and highly recommended! So excited for more from this amazing author!

I’ve read several of India Kells’ books and I love their romantic suspense, especially in this Dark Sparrow series. In this novel, Sam and Ellie are drawn to each other by a connection where sparks fly immediately, but they both have dark pasts that they have to overcome to be with each other. I felt like I wanted more depth, as this was quite a short read and the resolution seemed too easy. I also wanted to know more about the characters, rather than the plot. I would also mention trigger warnings for childhood sexual abuse and suicidal thoughts. Overall, a quick romance read.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Char Wahtomy-Alba

Sam Sarkhan is in a dark place wanting to end it all. He mistakenly puts in the wrong number while trying to reach his brother on New Year’s Eve and hears someone on the other end who is going through the motions just like him. Even though he doesn’t know her background or her name he feels like he has found a kindred spirit and wants to find out more about her. Ellie McLaren is a 9-1-1 operator and loves to help people, but one too many losses has her ready to end everything. If it hadn’t been for that stranger calling in the nick of time she may have gone through with her plan. Maybe Sam can help her out of her darkness? Or they can save each other? Things go sideways when his father comes after him and threatens Ellie’s life if he doesn’t submit to his demands. Sam and his brothers have been trying to stop their father for years with no luck. Will Sam lose the woman he has fallen in love with or will he and his brothers finally be able to best the monster they call father?

The Dark Sparrow series by India Kells is amazing. Every time I see a book with her name on it I don’t hesitate to pick it up without reading the blurb. Any one of these books could be read as a stand alone, but I feel that they are best read together and in order.

This was a great 5 star read. Once I started I couldn’t put it down.

Sam was ready to make a choice. While making one last phone call to his brother, he ends up calling a wrong number and talks to a woman who sounds like she needs to be saved. Sam’s plans change and he is determined to find this woman. With his brother’s help he is able to find where she works and lives.

These two both have heartbreaking pasts. And unfortunately Sam’s dark past comes back to haunt them. Can Sam keep Ellie safe and have a HEA with her?

Overall this was a great read. I will warn that there are triggers in the story. The author does a great job with her writing, you feel like you’re right there with the characters. My emotions were all over the place. This book can be read as a stand alone but I suggest starting with the first one. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

Sam Sarkhan is a man shrouded in darkness, his past and his present are dragging him down and all he wants is to end the constant tiredness and the void of despair he is being sucked into, but it is New Years Eve and he wants to leave his brother one last message before he takes the plunge, but instead he misdials and calls a unknown woman instead. Ellie is a woman who is at her breaking point, all her life she has tried to save others, but now she is about to lose herself, she is numb to life and all she can think about is ending it all as well, until a mysterious male caller pulls her back from the edge.

As Sam is talking to the woman on the other end of the phone, he can tell that she is a kindred spirit and is suffering as well, so when he asks for help finding her, he gets the information he needs and goes to look for her hoping that he is not too late, however, when a stroke of luck enables him to get closer to her while still being anonymous, he jumps at the chance. Meanwhile, Ellie is still in her state of not caring and the only thing she has to pull her through day to day life is taken away from her, until she feels that again, there is nothing left, but she receives another well timed phone call which again, leads her away from the edge, it is not until the next day when she hears a bang and swearing coming from the apartment next door that she goes round to check on them and this is where it is revealed that her mystery neighbour is the man from the phone.

As this information soaks in, she realises that she has inadvertently placed herself in danger going round at a very inopportune moment, however, Sam is all guilt that he has led trouble straight to Ellie’s doorstep and that he is determined to keep her safe at all costs, so when they escape their apartments and head to one of safety, Ellie is determined to find out why and after a tense conversation on a rooftop, an attraction appears which will not be denied, leading to a fiery burst of passion. However, when they return downstairs and safety is being discussed again, what she hears and the reaction Sam has all but pushes her out of the door, however, when she goes out, all she sees is a bright flash and hears ringing in her ears before everything goes black.

As Sam chases after Ellie once he realises what has happened, he is determined to rescue her and keep her safe, however, the kidnapper has other ideas and instead brokers a deal, Sam will stay with him and learn what he wants to teach him and bonding with him, while Ellie will stay as his entertainment. Will Sam and Ellie be able to escape the gilded cage they are trapped in, or will this deal with the devil end up bringing them down among their demons for the last time? This is a romantic suspense with a twist where past, present and future blur together as a race against time to save their sanity ensues, it is an emotional rollercoaster where you feel all the ups and downs along with them as the conclusion plays out.

Both of them are going through a really rough time in life but can they help each other see the light? This book is about the depths of the human soul and how some handle it. There are some sensitive sections of sexual abuse and suicide. I believe the author handles them well and uses them to develop the characters. I liked the characters and it was interesting to finally get to more of Sam in this book. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and reading more from this author in the future.

Dark Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel
By India Kells

This book had me hooked right from the start as does every book I have read by this author. I became so invested I read it in one sitting. This book can be read as a standalone but it is my suggestion that you read these books in order for a better backstory and understanding of Sam’s and his brothers history. This book does contain triggers for some people. Both Sam and Ellie are at the end of their rope, they can’t take anymore mentally or emotionally, they are ready to give up on life. A wrong number changes everything for these two. Sam recognizes the same darkness that’s pulling him under in Ellie’s voice and he feels a very strong need to save her. Ellie has been kidnapped by Sam’s psychopath father and Sam will do whatever it takes to save Ellie and Ellie feels the same way about saving Sam from his father especially after learning of the horrific things his father did to him. This story is full of action, drama, romance, family, healing and more. This is a must read, I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series.

5out of 5 stars

Dark bastard is the fifth book in the Dark Sparrow series written by India Kells. I have read almost every book in this series and this author and she has me intrigued with this storyline/plot of this book/series. The characters are well written and I loved the way they played off each other with their quirkiness. This is a dark suspenseful with some action and romance thrown together.

Sam Sarkhan is a soldier, he knows the job is not finished; his father is still a threat to his bastard brothers and loved ones, but Sam’s strength has vanished. That is until he dialed a wrong number and connected with a soft female voice, as sad and lonely as he was.
Just when Sam gets ready to approach Ellie to drag her back from the edge his worst nightmare resurfaced and in order to save Ellie, he has to face his father. Will Sam save Ellie or will she save herself? Can they defeat his father this time? Will Sam and Ellie open their hearts to love or will they walk away from each other?

You will have to read this story to find out….

Y’all. I’ve been waiting on Sams book and I. Was. Not. Disappointed. I have always enjoyed his interactions in the other books and Im so happy to read his! Ellie was interesting to read and she tugged at my heart. The prologue was what REALLY sucked me in. India Kells is able to deliver amazing storylines and characters that make you (the reader) so invested! Read the damn series y’all! Onto the next! 💖

Kells knocks this one out of the park. Dark Bastard is a book about who saves who. When two people come together because they each need something the other one has to offer but doesnt know they need. Sam has a very dark past when it comes to his father and Ellie has her own demons. They get stuck when Sams father ends up taking them and forcing them into roles they dont really want. The bond and growth Sam and Ellie go through is great. I enjoy Kells writing style and she keeps you turning the pages.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Karyn Taylor

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Dark Bastard is the 5th book in the amazing Dark Sparrow series by India Kells. I have become a huge fan of India Kells over the last few years and the Dark Sparrow series is one of my favourite books series’.
Since I read the 4th book in the series and got a little tidbit of what was coming in Dark Bastard I could not wait to read Sam’s story. I just knew it was going to be deep and dark and amazing. I’m so glad to say that I was right (India Kells does not disappoint). Sam’s story makes for some very hard reading as both he and Ellie, the female lead, are both in a very bad place mentally but India Kells does the most amazing job and you are totally sucked into their story and taken on an amazing rollercoaster journey as they continue with the job of bringing down Sam’s evil father (father to all the ‘bastards’ in the series) and trying to keep themselves alive at the same time.
I absolutely loved Dark Bastard, not only for the amazing characters that Sam and Ellie are but the incredible storywriting ability that India Kells has.
We not only have one of the Bastard brothers left and I’m sure Oz’s story will be just as amazing as the 5 before. I can’t wait to see what India Kells has in store for Oz.

Dark Bastard by India Kells
Five Stars

Dark Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel is the fifth book in the Bastard series by India Kells. These books keep getting better and better. Each brother’s story is a tale that needs to be told. Sam is in a dark place and when he accidentally calls the wrong number, Ellie gives him something to live for. As always it is great to see glimpses of the other brothers. I’m waiting with bated breath for November and the final book in this series……maybe……well a girl can hope maybe Ms. Kells will find a lost unknown brother out there. If you haven’t read any books in this series, I highly recommend you read them in order. You really don’t have to because each book features a new couple, but you would miss a bunch of the back story if you skipped any books. Besides they are all Five Star books.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Angela Packard

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The fifth installment of the Dark Sparrow series did not disappoint. I am in love with these bastard brothers. This is Sam and Ellie’s story. Sam was a soldier, trained for danger. Ellie is a 911 operator. They had both made individual decisions to end their lives when Sam makes a call to Ellie by mistake. Hearing the sadness in her voice, he has to find out who she is and how to help her. Finding a way to be close to her also puts her in the most danger she has ever been in.
Sam and Ellie both end up in the clutches of Sam’s disgusting father. Finding that they both come from childhoods that are far from even nice, can that bond them together to fight their way out of the situation they find themselves in?
India Kells has a wonderful way with words that draws you in and keeps you intrigued to the last page. The epilogue for one book, is the prologue for the next, leaving you hungering for you next bastard brother fix. The women are strong, independent, and are not damsels in distress. Not only can they help save themselves; they kick ass doing it. Am absolutely in love with this author. Thank you, India Kells!

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Opal Nelson

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I welcomed the perspective that India chose to tell this story. The ‘perfect life’ façade is usually a typical portrayal of characters. I appreciated that India decided to colour out the lines.

She highlighted the emotional burden that stems from trying to saying everyone (Ellie) and dealing with unresolved childhood trauma (Sam). It was important that the characters were allowed to work through this and overcame their feelings of depression. They healed in their way and on their own time. They rediscovered reasons for living.

I became fond of the characters, and I am contented that they got their happy ending. This novel will have you crying, upset and on the edge of your seat; do not just take my word for it, grab yourself a copy today.

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow Novel Book 5) by India Kells – Review by Sophie Rae

Dark Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #5)Dark Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read so many 5 star books lately & of course this one is too. We follow 911 dispatcher Ellie and Sam as they both coincidentally meet on the hardest night of the year for both of them. But, in the end is Ellie’s life worth the risk for Sam’s love? With a huge target on Sam’s back we’re left hanging and when it becomes a life or death situation, they need each other to get out of it. This book had numerous twists, turns, steamy scenes and at the end of the day just makes you want to fall in love. But at the same time. The cliffhanger at the end?!?🤯 I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
