Rod and Ned are two hard-working fisherman struggling to put food on their tables and feed others in the world since big corporations are starting to use their expensive resources, such as large boats and explosives to massacre as much sea life as possible. The corporations’ efforts are leaving the small fishing businesses noticeably less and less options while they attempt to somehow keep their businesses afloat.

One day, Rod comes upon a fissure at the bottom of the ocean and notices a plethora of fish inside that may simply be the answer to their prayers. Rod shares this information with fellow fisherman, Ned and they set out to sea to test their luck at the fissure. Things take an unexpected turn which keeps this captivating storyline on point throughout the remainder of the book.

While the initial struggle from the small businessmen is one that we witness in the present day worldwide, the turn of events is not something that you, as the reader, could predict. The author was perfectly creative with the plot details that will keep you enthralled with the book from the beginning. This title definitely keeps you thinking, even after you finish it. I cannot wait to read the author’s next book.

I enjoyed the humble and faint existence of the allure between Sally and Rod. The author does not make the trickle of their love interest between the two become overwhelming or distracting away from the main story, but just enough of a sliver for you to appreciate it and root for the two to come to a realization of the match over each page.

I am so glad I read this book and think it is now one of my all time favorites. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

If you enjoy books that include mystery, adventure, courage building, magical plots, this book is for you.

Ruarnon is the first non-binary character that I’ve ever come across and I love to see them building their character throughout the story. I think this book was a wonderful representation of a non-binary person.

I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Linh, Tony & friends. It felt like they were very young and immature but grew a bit stronger on their adventure together.

The book had a lot of interesting twists and turns that initially confused me, but I found over time that I became more comfortable with the overall format of the story.

The story was fantastically written and kept my attention from page one. I cannot wait to continue reading this series.

This book was incredibly written and I could not put it down. The author absolutely hit this one out of the park!

The story’s main character, Josie Thompson is an intriguing character struggling to stay under the radar and away from her abusive and unhinged husband. Josie lives a low-key life in a beautiful cabin by the lake, while taking care of her two children, keeping a keen eye open for any evidence her ex may be lingering about and working as often as possible in a dead-end job as a waitress. She has eyes of a hawk and is constantly watching for unknown vehicles trailing behind her on her drive to and from home/work, strange destitute residents lingering outside the diner, or any evidence on Twitter that will pinpoint a possible location for her ex, so they can finalize their divorce.

Josie is stronger than most adults, especially with her history and upbringing, although I do not think she truly recognizes that strength until much later in the story. I enjoyed watching her relationship with her brother David go from almost non-existent and strained to something much improved by the book’s end.

I enjoyed the twists and turns in this thriller and liked that it was not predictable. The author did a fabulous job creating the characters for this book and building on the intensity by adding in the pandemic into the storyline. Overall, this was a quick read since I did not want to put this book down. The suspense continued to push me to keep reading chapter after chapter into the wee hours of the night.

I think all mystery lovers will enjoy this book and the series. I cannot wait to read whatever comes next.

Caspian has a big heart and adventurous spirit. I love his sweet relationship he has with his grandpa.

On Caspian’s unbirthday, he finds a special gift from his grandpa, a yellow pencil and green pad of paper. He knew immediately that this pencil was different. He learns that this is The-Know-It-All-Pencil and would soon send him on an interesting adventure.

I loved this book and the beautiful illustrations. I think any child would enjoy it!

I could not put this audiobook down. Slash & Burn is the fourth book in the Nite Fire series and I think it may be the best one so far.

The story starts up again with Dahlia Nite dealing with the aftermath and possibly PTSD from her time being held in Drimera. This half dragon shapeshifter has a lot to deal with, let alone struggling to keep her true identity or secrets of her world a secret from those she loves.

Dahlia often finds herself trying to protect the humans from things that go bump in the night, living in the shadows and somehow always investigating brutal murders. This book has her doing the same, but this time a crazy killing spree is taking place which triggers her ex-partner, Creed asks her to assist him with his investigation as the killings continue throughout Sentinel City.

Initially, Dahlia is not fond of assisting Creed w/ the hunt for the serial killer, but the clues start piling up and seem to be leading back to a previous case.

She feels as if time is running out and something bad is just around the corner. The heaviness of responsibility of protecting the humans, her new team and even herself is taking its toll. All while trying to stay off of the Dragon Queen’s radar, which she knows will only work for a short period of time.

I often found myself feeling sorry or sympathetic with Creed since he’s still trying to come to terms with Dahlia’s true identity.

Dahlia’s wit and tenacity remind me of one of my favorite fictional characters, Anita Blake written by fellow author, Laurell K. Hamilton. The author did a fantastic job with this series, building up the characters, expanding and building up Dahlia’s world and keeping the action and overall story plot right on target to continue into the next and final book of this series.

You’ll find drama, action, humor, and entertaining characters in this series and book. I cannot wait to pick up book number 5 of this series and continue the Dahlia story.

This incredible book follows Baron as he tries to survive this new world without dying or becoming part of the undead. From the beginning, he finds himself in one heck of a predicament. While driving through a small little town, he notices a beautiful woman as he searches for a repair shop for his bike. He soon learns that this woman is part of a small traveling caravan of scientists. She wears a thick gold collar around her neck which means she is an Atheling and is immortal. One of the locals helps Baron understand what this really means. For starters, she cannot die, yet she keeps a silver collared man, known as a Gin close by to help protect her should she ever need the extra help. Soon Baron finds himself in the middle of a town brawl and unfortunately he inadvertently kills this woman’s Gin. As penance, the Atheling captures and imprisons Baron immediately after the fight, forcing him to don a silver collar and become her new Gin. She expects him to immediately abide by her wishes while helping her and her team live through another day. Can they save the world from the infestation of zombies and stay on track with the ARK’s beliefs and overall goals?

I really enjoyed how the author put her fresh and unique spin on the zombie apocalypse virus story. It keeps you intrigued from start to finish.

I found the book to be very well written which allowed this to be a quick paced read that I thoroughly enjoyed. This book was entertaining and filled with a lot of twists and turns. I loved the characters, the world the author created and a plot that could easily become a huge success.

I’m curious to see what the author has in store for the Ark and this storyline in the near future.

Mysteries make great adventures if the author is a great story teller and in this case, Kimberly Mullins has definitely struck gold!

This book is number three in the author’s Notebook Mysteries series. The story begins in 1885 with the main character, Emma who resides in Chicago. She embarks on a new adventure after finding that her fortune is about to drastically change after learning she is now the heir to a very substantial estate that belonged to a former client. While trying to determine how best to handle the sizable estate, she immediately takes charge and puts together a team that she feels will allow her to properly manage her obligations.

Emma soon finds that she must travel to New York City. Fortunately she was able to take Jeremy with her to assist during her NYC trip. While she may not be fond of the idea of marriage, she is very much enjoying her time with Jeremy. Emma also travels to Paris to meet up with her friend, Tony, but danger lingers.

I loved the imagery the author created when describing Emma’s travels. If you are fond or familiar with Chicago, New York City or Paris, you will find the author’s descriptions are quite stirring.

This book will have you hooked while trying to determine what will come next as a new case evolves within the pages, but this story is anything but predictable so do not expect to know what happens. It will keep you guessing. It is a great addition to this mystery series and I cannot wait to see what is in store for the next book.

I’m not sure what caused me to pick this book because not only is the cover art creepy, I knew the story included clowns, and not just happy clowns but scary clowns. I’m definitely a person who can clearly say scary, creepy clowns are not my forte but the reviews associated with this book are incredible and I cannot pass up an incredible story.

Abbey is the main character, a teenager, student who has enrolled in a new school, but before the first day arrives, her father, a journalist, asks the family to join him by visiting the visiting circus as he gathers intel for his next big story on the history of clowns. As a typical teenager, Abbey wanted to pass on joining any family function if it included visiting the circus of all places, but she ultimately chose to go along. While there, she watches the entertainment, then roams around behind the scenes. When she comes across a crowd of clowns chatting about someone, out walks Rellik, the creepiest, scariest clown she had ever seen. When he looked into her eyes, as he walked by, fear riddled her body and she could feel goosebumps on her arms. Little did she know, her future would hold a lot more clowns and danger.

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get through this book and believe me there were times, I thought the creepy factor was going to get to me, but the book is so good and so well written. I loved the way Abbey constantly thought of specific 80’s songs throughout the story which made the book have a bit of a soundtrack, which was unexpected. She often felt older than your typical teenager, seeing as how she handled her special “gift” and the drama that came with it.

The author did a great job making the villain someone you could feel disdain for and hope he would have a strike of bad luck.

I loved how Abbey started to learn about teamwork and the love that you can enjoy by joining a team, a sisterhood of her fellow soccer players. They go through a lot while dealing with clowns invading the school and the disappearance of a few friends but in the end, I think the entire situation brings them all closer together.

I enjoyed this story, even with the creepy clowns and look forward to reading more from the author. This was very well written, easy to read and follow along and kept me intrigued and on edge from the very beginning.

I was immediately hooked when I read the title and synopsis of this book. I’m a huge fan of comics, cosplay, sketching/drawing and writing so once I had the chance to read this book, I was all in.

The author quickly introduces you to the main character, Layla who works a 9-5 in real estate as a personal assistant, which she is not passionate about in any shape or form. Her true passion is in drawing, comic books and cosplay.

In the beginning, you follow Layla’s short trip to a comic convention where she attends wearing her handmade cosplay outfit, representing her favorite female comic book character, Diablo that was created by her favorite writer, Vic Williams. When she meets the comic writer (Vic) and artist (Daisy) face to face, Layla is starstruck. She literally cannot speak besides a few mumbles. Thankfully her bff, Alex comes to the rescue with introductions.

You cannot help but smile when Daisy immediately approves and appreciates Layla’s cosplay costume. Her enthusiasm and genuine kindness is a breath of fresh air.

Vic’ interaction with Layla was sweet and a bit flirtatious. Layla of course was smitten and this starts their journey into friendship and more.

The book successfully keeps you engaged and will easily make you laugh, smile, and possibly cry since the author clearly evokes emotion with her words.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters, the storyline and it’s intent.

Also if you are a fan of romance writing, you may enjoy the author’s writing with the few encounters referenced in the book.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Book Two was a very interesting installment of this series and I could not put it down. If you enjoy sci-fi fantasy storylines with a bit of adventure, you will enjoy this book.

If you’ve read book one, you know that it ended with Harry diving into stasis. While in stasis, he dreams of his other lives while he was living outside of stasis. In book two you follow Harry as he faces his next adventure and challenges, all while contemplating his next step.

The author excels at constructing a magnificent story and fills us in with Harry’s backstory. She left plenty of room for more adventures in this series. I hope she plans on writing more engaging additions to Harry’s life story. She really makes you think about what would go through your mind if you were in Harry’s shoes and lived through multiple lives/life forms.

I enjoyed this compelling gem of a book and think other sci-fi fans will too.

Book three of this series starts off with Van hiding in a wooded area, taking cover while she determines her next move in the Jaychund Games.  As the Anchoress and a senior, she is the final contestant remaining in the games except for the unwanted guest, Suixsha.

As the author described the importance of the games, the cameras in the trees and the event being streamed for everyone to see, I truly felt a bit of a Hunger Game vibe.  Van over-analyzed the situation as usual and allowed her emotions to get the best of her.  So upon coming face to face with her opponent, Suixsha, she allowed her anger to control her and Suixsha took advantage.

Of course, book three could not be complete without sending Van off onto another mission, all while she tries to deal with her internalized feelings for the Balish prince, Ferox and seeing her BFF Paley, endlessly and shamelessly flirting with her ex, Brux.  Bloodline legacies, Elemental rules, a heavy hand of fate and Grigori warrior expectations are a lot for Van to shoulder on top of the fact that she remains a typical emotional and hormonal teenager.

I know fluffy little Wiglaf does not receive enough attention in this series, but can we all agree that having a cute little Wiglaf of your own would be incredible?

Van experiences visions or internal discussions with the spirit, Jacynthia, who ultimately behaves like a guiding light when it comes to dealing with her feelings or questions regarding the circumstances of her life.  She provides Van with honest and true guidance without telling her specifically what she should do, allowing Van to make her own decisions.

The author provided us with a great delivery of imagery, plot, and character building in this book.  I truly hope she continues to write books within this series because I’m enjoying the characters and the action thus far.  Each book of this series has been page turners and captivates you from the start.  I think this is my favorite book so far although I think that after reading each one.  They continue to get better and better, if that is possible.

I enjoyed this book and am bummed that I finished it.  Until book number 4?  Fingers crossed.

Another great book in this series.  The main star is “Van” Vanessa, which we follow up with her again a year after her first 30-day mission/project that resulted in the loss of several teammates, friends and ultimately her father.

Summer begins and she quickly understands that another mission/project should start at any moment.  She tries to come to terms with the fact that her handsome teammate, Brux, is now her protector/bodyguard, but can she continue to ignore her heart and stay neutral when it comes to him?

She learns that her stepmother has found a new man-child and her nemesis will now be joining their group on their next mission.  On top of everything, she learns important details surrounding the mysterious men in suits walking amongst the residents of Paradise Island.  How do they expect a teenager in denial of her true feelings to keep a level head when learning new information regarding the Elders, the Brotherhood, EWS agents, the infamous portal, Living World vs Earth World, internet vs intranet, low frequency vs high frequency, electricity vs electricity-like energy, good vs bad, and so on? So much responsibility for such a young lady.

I couldn’t help but feel sympathy for Van as she deals with such complex, life changing, adult material since book one.  While she seems to handle things well (for the most part), she often comes across as a typical teenager so there is hope she will continue to try to live a full teenage life, even with more responsibilities, knowledge, and skillsets.

Book two pushed the fantasy fiction, action, and mysterious angle beyond what I expected after reading book one.  I also enjoyed how easy this was to read.  Plus, this left me anxiously waiting to read Book Three of the series.

I’m excited to see the author did not create perfect characters within this series, meaning they each have their own faults, fears, etc.  They do not always make the best decisions and that makes them more real, relevant, and relatable.  I believe this aspect will make this book more appealing to anyone who chooses to read it (adults, young adults, etc.).

A surprising point that I found while reading this book was how much you can become engrossed in a story and despise certain characters.  It is a tribute to creative writing when you can illicit feelings from the reader and in this case, for me anyway, it was all about Ambassador Kasey.  In my eyes, he always seemed a bit shady with ulterior motives, but I will not go into details or share any spoilers so any new readers can make up their own minds regarding this character.

I was blown away by the continued expansion created and described in this book.  I was not certain the author could outdo herself but, in this case, she did.  I was pleasantly pleased with how she wrapped up this book and as I mentioned above, I could not wait to get my hands on book number three!

This is an epic series that I hope continues for a long time.

I enjoy coming of age stories since they typically include a complex network of characters, narrative and growth. In this book, the main character, “Van” Vanessa starts as a typical egotistical teenager who only focuses on herself, boys and her intended summer plans with friends. Her bff, Paley is similar from that perspective but to me, comes off as polar opposites when it counts. Perhaps that’s why they are friends? Opposites attract?

Van must literally grow up in a matter of moments once she learns that her mother was considered royalty, she may have been killed vs dying during childbirth, her father is missing, he screwed up at work, could be a traitor and possibly a murderer! After learning all of this and the fact that most of what she’s been told her entire life was a lie, she makes the more grown up decision to pursue the 30-day mission she is being assigned, along with a group of several other teens. One of them is the Anchoress, but their identity is hidden from the group until it is necessary.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a must read and flows well. You will not want to put it down. I think young adults and adults will enjoy this book.

I could not put this book down!

I am new to the author and her books but I think I’ll be reading more after engulfing this book. Initially, I was intrigued by the beautiful graphics on the cover and hoped the story would be just as intriguing. I was happy to learn that my instincts were right!

This book is a fantastic fictional fantasy story that will make for an incredible series with plenty of room to continue building/expanding the plot and the characters.

Throughout the book, I found myself mesmerized by the exquisite attention to details. I am always on the lookout for authors who have the gift of creating incredible imagery within their stories, and this author did not disappoint. I was hooked by the cover and upon reading from page one.

I thought the book was an easy read and flowed very well.

Can I say again that I did not want to put this book down?

I enjoyed the chemistry amongst the different characters and often felt as if I was rooting for some and hating on others. To evoke that type of reaction in a reader isn’t easy and honestly kept me enthralled from the get go. This book definitely grabbed my attention and never let go.

When the main character, Bernard (Marchand) alters the timeline, I thought of the many stories or movies I have seen in the past regarding timelines, changing history, etc. I immediately thought of the ripple effect and thought, “uh oh.” While I completely understand how someone who has lost people they love would want to go back and change things, the result of such things always seems to have that darn ripple effect and will not always be a positive result. So once the characters attempt to rectify the timeline issue I knew we were in for a bit of drama, suspense, and action.

Also, while I’m not a fan of romance storylines since they tend to overshadow or take away from the main story, I did not mind the romance piece in this book. It was well written and implemented into the story. It works well!

I think any fantasy fan will thoroughly enjoy this book, but the mix of norse mythology and a bit of world history will also satisfy readers of other genres as well.

Overall, this book was incredible and by far one of my favorite reads to date. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars!

This book has a bit of everything – drama, mystery, suspense, romance, social justice, ghosts, visions, and breathtaking imagery.

The story begins by the introduction of the characters, Phoebe and Edward.  This young couple is constantly surrounded by dramatic events, most brought on by themselves. While the opening includes only a brief introduction of these two, you only receive tidbits of information throughout the book regarding the pair, which adequately builds up the suspense as you try to piece together their lives.

The author also introduces you to the main characters, Tess and Trey.  Their instant connection is electric and reflects a heavy hand of fate. I found myself rooting for them to push past the “getting to know you faze” and decide if they felt any sparks.

Both couples are captivated with each other but drama stirs the pot yet helps expand the suspense and drama throughout the story.

You can immediately conclude that the author has an unbelievable love for vintage fashion.  When the lead character, Tess begins the story with the opening of her new vintage boutique, Divine Vintage, you are immediately transferred into masterful descriptions of what can only be described as classic exquisite pieces that told a story of the time in which they were created.  She describes the many facets of the timeless pieces decorated with beads, sequins, and delicate lace. She also paints a magnificent picture of show-stopping sweaters, frame fitting dresses, flowing fabrics, dazzling statement pieces, sparkling jewelry, chiffon layers, and gorgeous gowns from all eras.

I think the reader will enjoy this book and perhaps peak their interest in vintage fashion. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.

I was intrigued to read this book after reading the synopsis and appreciating the fabulous cover art.

Ono Aia begins as a timid young woman living in Japan with aspirations to be someone desired and of importance. As a geisha-in-training, she was often ridiculed based on her body shape which clearly led to a dampening of her confidence. Her bosom and hips were larger than most, which some did not find appealing. Aia’s expectations regarding how her life would turn out was not as positive as she’d like but she hungered for a chance to prove she could do whatever was necessary.

Just as Aia thought her time to shine would never come, a change in circumstances allows her to present herself as Ume, while very important dignitaries visit the area. A dark and mysterious guardsman immediately catches her eye and life as she knows it changes in the blink of an eye.

The remainder of the story includes danger, action, mystery and adventure all while Aia learns more about herself, her strength and her openness for love.

I enjoyed reading this book and liked how the author ended the story making the reader want even more. They could clearly and easily continue with this storyline and build out the characters a bit more. Especially with Nen and his background, as he could be an immensely valuable and adored character. To follow Aia and her journey into learning more about her strengths, her desires, as well as her overall growth and maturity could be a substantial opportunity for the readers and author.

I believe readers will thoroughly enjoy this book and the phenomenal imagery.

I believe I may have found my new favorite author!

This incredible tale surrounds the struggle experienced by a naive but brilliant young lady, Adrijana once she visits the Adrjssian court. Within the first few chapters, we soon learn that a killer is amongst them. Multiple characters exude confidence and charisma, but the question they must answer is, who is trustworthy?

I found this book to be incredibly well written and exceedingly easy to read. I loved how the author allowed the story to build while watching the young Adrijana attempt to deal with constant trials and conflicting emotions with a very sheltered upbringing. On top of this, we become enveloped in the construction of her new life as an inexperienced Mesmerist. The different factions are very mysterious after learning of a small portion of what makes them tick, so I look forward to reading more by the author if/when she creates more titles that will dive deeper into each, especially the unsympathetic Vruk clan.

The hunt for the genuine assassin proves to be quite complex. While Adrijana is learning as she goes, I think the lessons learned within this story will help build her character for more story lines in the future.

I have absolutely nothing to say that I disliked about this book, as I found it very entertaining and I embraced the plot immediately.

Overall, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
