This book is sooo well written. It’s so good and captivating that I couldn’t put it down. It gives me Kennedy Ryan vibes in terms of the writing and the plot so if you like her books you’ll like this one. I went ahead and read the 2nd book and ugh, I can’t wait for more.

This was my first read by this author. This is a great first book for the series. I think it is well written with descriptive detail that allowed me to picture the scenes in the book very easily. Looking forward to book 2!

I’m almost the same age as the main chant after Sunny and there’s no way I could be her friend lol. I felt as if she comes off a little immature and unrealistic.

This was my first time reading a book from this author and I found it very interesting. I would recommend this book for a middle school audience. It’s written exactly how I would expect Neyah to talk in real life. Although, Africa has countries that are industrialized, this book points out the dangers of the places that aren’t!

I absolutely LOVE this series. As a married mom of two, I can definitely related to the busyness of being a wife, mother, and juggling a full time job. The author is able to take realistic situations and have them play out in a way that’s not corny or cringy. The realism in this series is something I truly appreciate. I enjoy the fact that it’s the same small town with appearances from other characters as well!

This was my first book by this author and in this series. I was not disappointed. Although I read it as a stand-alone, I will go back and read the first two just to get more of the series. It’s very well-written and captivating. I’m beginning to enjoy historical fiction and this book just proves that I must dive more into this genre. It’s very entertaining and has tons of action. Although it’s set in the time period it’s set in, it’s still relatable with how real the characters are and their personalities.

This book hit very close to home as I lost my grandmother the same way. The display of realistic relationships and relationship complications made this a great read. It is a quick read, but it’s worth the read. The realistic display of faith is very refreshing. This isn’t a Christian book that’s corny and filled with fluff. It tackles tough situations and is very good about keeping it realistic.

This was my first read by this author and I liked it! The mystery begins right away in the book which I liked. I also liked the dynamic of friendships Naomi creates throughout the book. Its well written and it kept me entertained. It’s not too high packed that it causes anxiety. But it is entertaining enough that it keeps you wanting to know what’s going to happen next.

This was my first read in the series and by this author. This read is definitely geared towards older middle school aged/high school aged readers. It’s written well, and tackles normal issues for that age group. I didn’t feel lost even though I didn’t read the first two books. This book can definitely be a standalone but reading the first two would probably give more background on the characters.

This is apart of a series, but just like the previous books, it makes a great stand alone too. It’s not confusing to jump into the series with this book. It would make a great TV drama too.

This was such a fun read! As an adult, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It kept my attention and I felt like I was easily immersed in this world. The written was done excellently and I didn’t feel like it was too immature for someone older to read, as I have with other YA reads. This is something someone who’s 10 can enjoy as well as someone who is 30. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The writing is well done, however, this genre just isn’t something I’m interested in. I would be interested in other works of this author in different genres.

This series is such a great series. This is my 2nd book I’ve read in it and I wasn’t lost at all. These books make for great stand alone and I really enjoy that. This book has action and mystery which is very cool to see in a historical setting. For anyone wanting an introduction to historical mystery without it being boring or corny, this is a GREAT series to start with.

This was my first read by this author and it was very good! The material is a bit dark, but it encompasses the life of a rich, high school student so well. It’s written in first person and written just as a high schooler would write it. The realness of the situations mentioned is refreshing because they aren’t corny interactions. I really enjoyed this book.

This was my first read by this author and it’s such a cute book! Not only are the drawings good, the book is very informative in an easy to understand way. I learned quite a bit from this book about butterflies and caterpillars. I also liked the map and other information that was included. I will say that this book would probably be a great read for a child 5 and older.
