A cute story about growing up and the difficulties that come with it. Right from the start, the book had my smiling. It started out so fun and quirky and I was immediately hooked! Once the story progresses, it actually hit on several really serious topics and even pulled a tear or two from me! I went from giggling along with the quirkiness of the main characters, to suffering, to frustration, and back again. Some parts were so captivating, and other parts were a bit slower to get through. I loved the ending and how everything was wrapped up. My only complaint is that I would have liked to experience more of the ending, maybe a few more interactions with the characters at the end and some idea on where they were headed. It felt like the ending was the start of the new beginning I had been hoping for the two characters! Perhaps there will be another book… I guess I can dream!

So it wasn’t the plot or the characters that grabbed me in this book – it was the hilarious writing. I love this author’s sense of humor. The way she spins the story is entertaining, but the inner dialogue of Emme is my favorite thing about this book. My favorite line is “I’ve seen dogs chase the mail carrier with more dignity.” I enjoyed this book immensely!! Keep writing with your great style – I love it!

In this book we have the main protagonist, Emme. Her journey is one that young adults can closely relate to, as she is navigating new relationships, learning how to cope with significant life changes, and understanding how to better herself.
This book is an easy read, where one can understand clearly what the author is trying to portray to her audience. The significance of this book is in how it shows young adults very real-life changes, especially with how Emme’s grandparents affected her development in the book. Emme had to experience what having a new relationship was like, along with understanding what this entailed. Her relationship with— “the it Guy”—Brendon caused her to reflect on her life and how she was going to deal with it. What is commendable about this story is the way the author showed how other characters beside Emme were having struggles on the home front. I thought it was well thought out book overall, that young adults can enjoy.

Everyone wants to be him or date him. That includes his ex who is consistently trying to get back into his life. This book took me back to what it felt like to be in high school. It reminded me a lot the quizila fanfic type of stories I would read in my preteen days. It’s a true young adult novel where alot of books these days with the same rating are more geared towards young adults in their early 20’s or super late teens. I wasn’t overly thrilled or attached with any particular character but I did enjoy being transported back to a simpler time where homework, boys and family issues were my only worries. If you want to time travel back to your youth and have a lighthearted read I’d go for it.

Krysten Lindsay Hager is completely amazing. When you pick up a book called Dating the IT Guy, you think of teenagers and fun and maybe a little fluff. Yes there’s teenagers and fun, but this book is so much more. I wish I could’ve read this book when I was a teenager. Everything felt so real, it’s a perfect snapshot of the struggles people (not just teenagers) go through every day.

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager was a very interesting read, while a lot of YA stories can take you back to your teenage years, Hager writes in a way that will make you feel every emotion that you felt back then. Her main characters are great, it the real question is will these two love interests have anything in common, you’ll have to read for yourself. This book was filled with so many emotions including angst, romance, joy, growth, and so much more that it really makes you feel those teenage years all over again. But just like any romance there is bad communication, advice from friends, and so much more so will this budding romance last? You’ll have to read Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager to find out.

Very good YA romance. Emme is a girl who recently had a breakup with a boy that cheated on her and has trust issues. When Emme takes a summer class she is paired up with Brendon Agretti, who is a senator’s son. Every girl wants to date Brendon, but as Emme and Brendon grow closer, Emme’s insecurity sets in. Brendon has this ex girlfriend who wont let go and Emme also has to deal with medical issues that her grandparents are going through. There is so much to this story that really takes you back to high school years. I truly believe we all have had these feelings of insecurities and crushes in high school at some point so it is very easy to relate to these characters. Well done Author Krysten Lindsay Hager!

Dating the It Guy was a wonderful book! Even though when reading it, I was overwhelmed with the sadness I felt throughout, I had to keep taking breaks to recoup my energy. What author Krysten Lindsay Hager did with this YA novel, it would come highly recommended by me to anyone who likes YA novels.
The character development and the emotions of the characters, especially Emme, was on another level than books I’ve read in the past. Emme wasn’t the only one though Brendon had just as much character development and emotions throughout.
I’m having trouble putting into words all that I felt while reading it. I can tell you Krysten Lindsay Hager has a gift because I was deeply and emotionally involved with these characters as if they were my family and friends.
Most people growing up always have that one friend who wants to keep you on the right path and that rebellious friend who will never conform to everyone else. That perfectly describes Emma’s best friends and support system.
The author takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions that are sad, satisfying, depressing, happy, and even some laughter. Don’t let the fact that it’s a YA novel, prevent you from giving it a chance. YA is a guilty pleasure for me, no matter how I am. So why can’t it be yours?

Emme is going into her sophomore year and taking a summer class. Brendon comes late to class and they are paired to work together. Emme’s grandma taught her about the mystical world and Emme sees signs everywhere that her and Brendon are meant to be together.
Emme’s last boyfriend gave her major insecurities as he cheated on her and never made her feel good enough. Can she trust Brendon to not hurt her?
Brendon is a senator’s son and is the popular guy in school. He feels very comfortable with Emme and finds himself spending as much time with her as possible.
This is not the first book I have read by Krysten Lindsay Hager, I love the complexity of her characters and she throws me back into my teenage years when insecurities are the only thing you know. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She has the ability to make me laugh, cry, and every emotion in between with her books.

Hager paints the teenage years in a very vivid and relatable light. Hormones’, insecurities, the daily stress of trying to fit in, peer pressure, etc. A story that reflected the struggle of growing up, and learning to be comfortable in your own skin. Teenage angst at its finest.
Emme and Brendon were characters who you could easily connect to and understand. Emme was a girl who had family issues, a lack of confidence, and a lot of insecurities. When she begins dating Brendon who is one of the most popular boys in school and the Senators son she begins to fall under quickly with the self doubt and stresses of being compared to girls before her. Brendon who is a down to earth and sweet just wants to live his life normally. He encourages Emme to be herself and be comfortable, but he also fails to understand some of where her feelings come from.
The relationship navigates jealousy, insecurity, lack of communication, misunderstandings, and poor judgement calls. This story shows young love and new love all rolled into one. It is a good read with some good lessons for young adults today.

This was a fantastic book. I found it completely entailed the teen relationship cycle. Angst over dating from previous relationships and how they affect your next ones to dealing with issues in your current relationships. Emme is struggling with the aftermath from her previous relationship with John, when she starts dating Brendon, the popular boy. Emme has many insecurities and you can see these come out throughout the stories. You may even feel them with a familiarity from your youth I did. The story is so well-done that you just continue watching Emme grow through the story as she matures through the insecurities and into the relationship. Brendon is a pretty amazing fellow. He’s down to Earth. He doesn’t see the girls falling over him. It is a really good story for Young Adults. I think it’s a wonderful story for all. Emme learned to appreciate what she had in front of her.

The deep emotional connection that this story touches on would be great for any YA read. And have the conversations that come up.
High school and home life can get the best of any teen. When you throw in all the drama and heartache that comes with both! Most teens dwell on the bad things and take all the things said to heart.
This story shows it is ok to make mistakes. But learning to trust your own heart in the process.
This story is great for the younger kids to show them it is going to be ok in the end.

I really love the way Krysten Lindsay Hager makes me fall in love with young adult novels all over again every time I pick up one of her books. This book really captured the teen angst and emotions that we feel when we are traversing the world of dating. I especially love how she makes it relatable whether you are young or old, the emotions are the same and we often have the same difficulties determining the way to handle them. In Dating the IT Guy we get to see this play out very real and raw and in your face and I loved every moment of it. I was once again taken away to a time when life seemed so hard at the time but I know for a fact I would go back to the way things were, so simple and so minute in the grand scheme of things. I enjoyed this one and look forward to seeing what will come next form Ms. Hager.

I am extremely familiar with this author as she is one of my favorite young adult romance writers. She has an amazing ability to capture the characters and their angst to perfection. This was no different. I am always able to read her books and feel like I am in these characters shoes at the same time and place. While I may not have enjoyed my teen years back then, I love going back and reliving it through these characters and their stories. As usual with her books, I was unable to put it down until the end. And once it was over I wanted I pick up the next book to keep the story going. If you love to read about teenage angst as much as I do, please give this story a read.

Dating the IT guy can have many ups and downs. This story will definitely provide those scenarios with you and how it can feel. When you are under a lot of drama and family issues, it can be a lot more stressful. You are brought in with a Sophomore girl in high school who usually doesn’t hang out with many people, but when she starts a class in the summer with the hottest guy in school, you know she’s in for a whirlwind of an adventure. The only thing you are looking for is how long will this adventure last, and is it good for you, or are you overthinking it all? It has a lot of turns that took me a minute to read, but then I got into a good spot and finished with a great ending.

Dating the It Guy was a truly great YA romance read. It was one of those easy reads that’s equal parts sweet, touching, realistic, entertaining and at times heart-wrenching!

I loved how well this author realistically portrayed these young characters, it brought me back to when I was that age and dealing with boy troubles and finding a group of best friends to fit in with. It was a great trip down memory lane and I enjoyed following Emme’s journey.

Overall, this was a fantastic read and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

It wasn’t the happy ending I was expecting but it was perfect. Emme and Brendon found out that being true to yourself was the best way to be there for each other.

Emme is a 15 year old girl that recently had gotten dumped in a harsh way by her older boyfriend. She is shy about starting to date again. When Brendon, the super hot senior, gets assigned as her partner in a summer class she didn’t even want to take, sparks start to fly. Emme and Brendon seem to have so much alike going on in their lives despite living in separate worlds. When all the trappings of high school start dragging on the couple, will Emme and Brendon make it?

The topics of loss, grief, family expectations are not just topics with which high schoolers deal. These topics affect us even as adults. The way Emme and Brendon figure out how to navigate the emotions is way beyond their years. The conversation between Emme and Brendon in the last chapter was heart-breaking but endearing all at the same time. The way the book ended was perfect! I hope that there is a part two in the works to know what happens next!!

I must say, this book was captivating, and a good story for us all to read in my humble opinion but the added aspects certainty were a nice addition. As I am a person who lives and swears by my tarot cards, horoscopes, as well as my crystals I found the main character Emme more relatable than just her fragile heart, but also by the choices and things she chooses to rely on for life related decisions!

Emme was a girl who I think all of us can find some form of a relation to in some form or one way. For starters if you are not in the right click of high school, it can literally be a battle field every day from the moment you step through there. Believe me I was the science theater nerd I have been there in more ways than one. Emme gets dumped hurt and cheated on. Again, relation to past experiences are strong in the cards I am drawing here haha.

Throw in the most amazing hearted as well as popular guy in school, well Emme needs to think wit her heart more than just what her tarot cards can tell her perhaps? She is felt as an outcast and has some things going on. Her new boyfriend seems so out of her league to her, that she feels she is just not meant to be his. All signs are pointing its not to work out as she is not worth it to him. Perhaps though she is in all honesty? If she follows her heart rather than the signs she sees, where will her path lead her?

Personally I had a lot of fun reading this novel. It was far from traditional in reading a teen romance, which I truly loved. Emme was wonderful and so was Mr. Popular, Brendan. I loved how there was more to the story than just their relationship, but also a lot of outside factors as well! It made the book a fun and engaging read in more ways than one! And my personal crystals did not need to tell me that!

The book was a wonderful read, and I feel any adult or teen would benefit from reading this. Sometimes when you feel you are not enough, you truly are though! Sometimes true beauty and awesomeness is in the eye of the beholder and truly can be more than you see yourself as! I loved this book from start to finish and I m so glad I got to read it! I highly recommend you pick up a copy, read it, and of course enjoy!

Dating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager is a sweet young adult romance. It is a clean story that also deals with some deeper issues. There were times that I struggle to connect with the main characters, mainly Emme although I think the author does a good job of portraying the rollercoaster that is being a teenager. Dating the It Guy is a young adult romance by Krysten Lindsay Hager. As far as stories in this genre go, it was not a bad story. There was a lot contained in these pages. Emotion, tension, insecurities, competition and a lot more. The characters were varied and each carried their own complexities. There was also the ever present teenage drama to add to the mix. The author penned a fairly decent story that was appealing, engaging and never lacking in dramatic flair. A great story for lovers of this trope. 4 stars.

If only they would allow me to give me more options for the stars! I want to give this a solid 4.5 because I have loved everything by Krysten Lindsay Hager that I have managed to get my hands on. This is an adorable YA romance. Emme has had a tough time after breaking up with her previous boyfriend. Trust is a difficult thing to come by, especially when you’re attempting to trust someone that you feel is so far out of your league. Constantly comparing yourself to their exes and everyone else that finds themselves in their inner circle. Brendon appears to be far more down to earth than anyone on the outside looking in could have predicted. He wants more out of life than what his family has planned for him and he has his sights set on Emme. Their relationship goes through typical ups and downs that you would expect with a high school couple, but there are subtle differences that make this book stand out from the rest and make it so enjoyable to read. The amount of emotions I had while reading this is one of the main reasons I will always grab a KLH book when I have the opportunity! Get this for yourself or recommend it to someone who loves YA romance and would enjoy the amazing storytelling for themselves!

This is a beautifully written YA romance. The author goes a great job of making the reader really feel all the emotions of the characters in this story. You go on a journey with the leading lady Emme.
Emme is sent to summer school when her internship falls through. There is is partnered up with the schools IT guy. Why does she respond in the way she does towards him? It’s not like he’s going to feel the same way about her. Or does it?

Brendon is a hot guy and also the senators son. He invites Emme into his world and boy is it a shock to her system.
Should Emme follow her instincts with regards to Brendon and their connection or should she push him away and return to her crystals?

This story is full of emotions around every aspect of Emme’s life, from her feelings about Brendon, her fears and insecurities and the feelings around her ailing grandparents.

This is a full length novel. Great for teens dealing with loss. High School is hard enough, with homework, boyfriends and besties. Then the worst is the loss of a grandparent, well really any loss. This is one of the best books I have read, dealing with teens in mind.
Emme is close to her grandparents, and is dating the popular Brendon Agretti all while going to high school. When Emme’s grandmother falls ill, she finds herself trying to keep everything normal. Which proves hard as her grandfather is also in poor health, and seems lost. Also dating Brendon has its challenges. Read and find out how Emme deals with such trying times.

Krysten Lindsay Hager really pulled out all the stops with this coming of age story. I wish this was available when I was in school. I love Emme and her friends. Dealing with high school and home life is hard enough. This quick reading page turner holds so many questions that can be answered while reading this story. I recommend this to teens and adults dealing with losing a family member. Well Done Krysten Lindsay Hager! Well Done! ! !
