Unbreakable (The Diamonds Book 1) by Tee Smith – Review by Dawn Brown

Unbreakable (The Diamonds, #1)Unbreakable by Tee Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Ripper goes to the local clinic to avoid questions, nurse Erin is the one to stitch his gash back together. Both of them take notice of the other but Erin is at work and can’t flirt with a patient. Fate throws them back together again but both have issues in their current lives. Ripper has his best mate and his mate’s daughter that he is worried about as well as his not so legal work. Erin is trying to help her dad move on after the death of her mother but they keep running into each other and are inclined to give in to fate.
Opinion
This book is a great read. With short chapters, it is perfect for the person who is on the go and has to read in between tasks. The allure of the shady side of the law, for me, makes this book quite intersting. The rhythm of the words draw the reader in while Ripper’s mate’s daughter has the reader’s protective side jumping out.
This is the first book in a promising series.

Chloe lives with her two best friends in Texas. Having never dated much, she is intrigued when she finds a principal she is interviewing interesting. When he asks her out, she quickly accepts. Chloe learns to navigate a relationship and helps her friends out with day to day struggles.
Opinion
This book is a sweet romance. I would have no issues putting it in the hands of my teenaged daughter (if only I could get her to read romance.) There is a definite slow burn to the whole book that keeps the reader anticipating the next move. While the book was a bit slow for me, I definitely see the allure for readers who like a slower, sweeter romance.

Sign Steal Deliver (Gods of Thunder MC) by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Dawn Brown

Sign Steal Deliver (Gods of Thunder MC)Sign Steal Deliver by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kathryn, Kat, is a feline shifter working for NOGS, a delivery service, in New Orleans. When the Olympic gods descend upon NOLA and need a package delivered, NOGS is called. Kat meets Hermes and together they deliver the package to Medusa. After she knows who is really is, she concots a plan to steal his caduceus so she can take something special to her sister in the underworld.
Opinion
This book is the second in the series. I have not read the first but liked this one enough that I am going to seek it out. You can read this one, however, and not be confused.
The book was fast paced and pretty hilarious. The characters find themselves in interesting positions as well as situtations that invoke sexual humor. I love the idea of there being all kinds of different supernaturals in New Orleans and Carrie Pulkinen pulls the book off wonderfully.

Motherland (The Tom Grant Series Book 3) by Samantha Adair – Review by Dawn Brown

Motherland (Tom Grant #3)Motherland by Samantha Adair
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Isabella is back in this third book in the series. Her father has died. Having promised him that she would bury him next to her mother, Isabella must return to her homeland. The only problem is that she is still a wanted woman by those that kept her prisoner before. With the help of Tom, she tries to sneak into the country. Things start going amiss when they pass through the border checkpoint.
Opinion
This book is extremely fast paced. Reunitin Tom and Isabella makes for a great chemistry, both in intimate scenes and in not so intimate scenes. Their adoration for each other pushes them on to get out.
I believe this is my favorite in the series. (Though I must confess to absolutely loving the first book.) I did not want to put this book down and was thoroughly entertained. If you have not read the first two books, you can get by without it. I am telling you though, you do not want to miss them. Go get Blood Orphan and read it first. This is a must read series for lovers of dark romances.

Chased (A Cambridge Men of Honour Novel Book One): A Dark Mafia Bad Boy Romance (Cambridge Men of Honour—Dark Mafia Romances 1) by Felicity Brandon – Review by Dawn Brown

ChasedChased by Felicity Brandon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Allegra is a law student, during the Covid pandemic, and has been pretty isolated. While out for exercise, Chase almost runs over her. When he runs into her again, he can’t help but ask her out. The problem they don’t know about is that they are on opposing sides of an important issue.
Opinion
The steam is high in this age difference book. Morals do not necessarily abound, even though Allegra has then. The story is quick paced and hot hot hot. The story does venture into the dark world of wealth and power.

Elusive: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 5) by Via Mari – Review by Dawn Brown

Elusive (Billionaire Bodyguards #5)Elusive by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While getting coffee, bodyguard Sheldon sees a man harassing a woman. He jumps in to rescue Alexis giving her the advice to file a report with the police. Later that day, when his employer needs a hairdresser, Alexis is the first one he thinks of. Soon he realizes the strange man is up to no good and is after Alexis. He quickly puts a plan in place to keep her and her roommate safe.
Opinion
The more I read in this series, the more in love with Ms. Mari’s writing style I become. The way she describes instantly falling in love makes it seem so natural (if only it were so.) I am now certain I am going to have to go back and pick up books 1 and 2 that I missed.
This series is perfect for the alpha male book lovers. Each book has a different man who’s love is all consuming.

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Dawn Brown

Sleeping Angel (Soul Connection, #2)Sleeping Angel by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Soul Connection series. The main character, Scott, from the first book is more of a minor character in this book (but he is still important.)
Angel is hit by a car at a party by a man that has been stalking her for years. While her body is in a coma, her soul has inhabited another woman’s body. She tries to find out what is going on and get back to her own body.
Logan lost his sister a few years ago and has survivor’s guilt. He has become an alcoholic and is the one who hit Angel with a car. He is just hoping that she survives, not just to keep himself out of jail for murder but also because he has added on more guilt.
Opinion
I absolutely loved the first book and expected to like this one jsut as much. There are some differences between the last and the present book. I was confused in several parts because there are so many characters, both in and out of their right bodies. The main concept of the book is a cool idea that I still find interesting. Overall, I liked the book but thought there was too much to follow.

Relentless: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 4) by Via Mari – Review by Dawn Brown

RelentlessRelentless by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is part of a series and offers insight into what was happening with different characters.
Layla is an adult dancer at a club. Dereck works for a security firm and needs information from her. Neither expect to feel a spark from the other.
Opinion
I’ve read one other book in the series and loved it. After reading this book, I love the series even more. Ms. Mari is superb at being able to work a scene in so many different viewpoints. I am simply amazed at her ability to keep the reader captivated while retelling parts of one story and introducing other characters stories that happened in the same time frame. I believe I have found my newest “one click” author, one I’ll buy new releases from without reading the description.

Peaceful Slumber (Soul Connection Book 1) by Nikki Lynn Barrett – Review by Dawn Brown

Peaceful Slumber (Soul Connection, #1)Peaceful Slumber by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Scott has died before. When he is brought back to life, he has a side effect. He can see ghosts. He usually ignores them until he sees a bride in a bloody wedding gown. He tries to help her find out what happened and his life is permanently altered.
Opinion
I was a huge fan of the show Ghost Whisperer and still love the paranormal. This book certainly called to me. I completely enjoyed this story as it told about Scott and Zelda. Some of the parts of Zelda’s story were quite a shock. This is definitely a great romantic suspense book.

Auctioned (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 3) by Via Mari – Review by Dawn Brown

Auctioned (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 3)Auctioned by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bryanna is in a bit of a predicament. She wants her safety but her captors are holding something dear over her head. Thankfully, her aunt is aware she has been taken and has the best searching for her. Damian is the best but he didn’t expect these feelings for Bryanna. He especially didn’t expect Bryanna to run back to her captors to keep what is over her head safe. His job is to get her and what she holds dear to safety and to put her captors where they belong.
Opinion
This is an excellent book. Damian is a total alpha male and Bryanna is new to submission. There is not a lot of sex in it but you get to see a dom introduce his sub to his likes. Damian does explain the difference between what she’s read on the internet and what he likes and that they are not always the same.
The story itself is also good. Knowing what she is trying to keep safe, the reader can empathize with her and see why she kept running back.
This book is part of a series and I have not read any other parts of it. I was able to wade through perfectly fine. I think, though, that I would have enjoyed it more had I read the series up to this point.
