Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts Series Book 3) by Debbie Cromack – Review by Heidi Sturgess

Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts, #3)Someone to Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I first meet Angelo he just won my heart , this was my introduction “ Watching someone you love get their heart broken time after time and not being able to take away their pain is crippling.”
I could identify with him as a friend and as a parent I’ve been in this position but there’s so much more to this beautiful person ….

Angelo fell in love with Lucia at a very young age and their lives have been intertwined since childhood, they’re always together at school and at university but Angelo is older than her so his first and foremost role in her life is protector so naturally she wants him to be her first but he turns her down but girl his heart is in the right place 🤔🥰

Angelo has the voice of an angel but instead of following his heart to have a career in music he goes into the business world of accounting and he plays music on the side 🥰

Life throws Lucia a curveball and she heads home and home is not a place but a person Angelo receives her with open arms and is ready to walk a difficult journey with her … there’s loss , love , tears and some very real moments 🫶🏼

I loved how the families mould together and the love and support shared amongst them , I did get frustrated at times with Angelo and Lucia but the road to HEA is never going to be easy it 🤔 I loved every moment of being part of their journey and I’ll warn you in advance , keep the Kleenex stock on hand and make sure you have some comfort food ❣️📚😉

This book was beautifully written as I love to delve into childhood lovers romances like this one. I love how these characters bring a balance to one another that makes your heart pitter-patter. A love as innocent as theirs makes you root for them no matter what the challenges. I’m all for stories like these and their endings. Great build-up and addition to the series!

This is a best friend to lovers book. It features Angelo and Lucia. I absolutely love when this type is done well. When done well I feel like it gives characters with great depth, amazing development and, generally speaking, main characters with absolutely amazing banter between them. This book definitely delivers on all three of those aspects. I felt that Lucia was very heartfelt and that her emotions truly jumped off the page, starting with the initial rejection that she faces. From there, the readers are taken on a fantastic roller coaster of emotions that had me rooting for her to find the happiness and the love that I felt that she really deserved. This was just so very good! I definitely recommended it!

Debbie Cromack did an amazing job with Angelo and Lucia. There was a lot of confusion between these two characters that showed how true love is sometimes in real life. I admire the fact that Angelo stood his ground for a while to really come forward and tell Lucia how he feels for her. Lucia out of emotion should of stop and thought about it through because in the end humans will always make mistake and regret it. But Angelo showed her how he really feels for her and he is willing to take care of her.

This was a great 5 star read. This is book three in the series and I continue to be pulled right in. If you like friends to lovers you will love this one. My emotions were all over the place with this one as well. Angelo and Lucia were great, I really enjoyed their story and it was a journey to finally get to the right place. You can read as a standalone but I suggest starting with book one in the series. I look forward to reading more from this author and series. Being in love with your best friend is hard. Not knowing they reciprcate those feelings until its too late is harder. Lucia and Angelo have a tug of war going on about whether or not they should be together. They grew up together so they have been inseparable, until there was one rejection too many. Lucia decided to walk away from Angelo and try to forget him. When she finds herself pregnant and unsure of what to do she runs to the one person who has always been there for her. I have enjoyed all the books I have read by this author so far. Even though this is part of a series you never once feel lost. The story flowed well and it will keep you turning the pages.

Someone to watch over me was just amazing and beautifully written from the very beginning to the very end. I
Absolutely loved reading Lucia and Angelo’s story. They grew up together as best friends. He was a toddler when she was born. His mother and Lucia’s mom were best friends. Both Angelo and Lucia have been Inlove with eachother for the last 20 years but neither of them knew how the other one felt. Angelo refused to tell Lucia because he didn’t want to be her first love, but he wanted to be her last love. Just when they think, they can have the happily ever after, of course something happens ripping them apart again.
This book was really such a great read. It had a lot of emotional parts, some heat, lovable characters and a great storyline. Definitely highly recommend this book!

If you love a slow burn romance that has a push/pull effect between characters this is a definite read. This story of Nicco and Destiny gave me all the feels that I love with a romance story that starts with friendship and just beautifully blossoms.

Nicco and Destiny meet by chance by a mock photo-shoot that left me already rooting for them from the beginning. Nicco being intrigued by Destiny from the beginning…knowing that his persona is being a full fledged “playboy”. Destiny keeps Nicco at an arms distance at first….but when an agreement between them of Nicco getting his shot at something more in acting and Destiny getting more in a story fit for a next bestselling novel. As they navigate each other….will Nicco’s past demons continue to haunt him? Will Destiny be able to see a future with Nicco without getting her heart hurt int he end?

This is a beautiful story with truly beautiful characters. This is my first book from this author and I am already ready to read book 2 and continuing this Wounded Hearts series journey.

Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts, #3)Someone to Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the Wounded Heart Series. It can be read as a standalone however once you read one you will definately want more. This author has an amazing way of writing which allows the reader to feel every emotion, from happiness to sadness, from frustration and anger to complete bliss as well as love, flirtatious behaviour and heartaches that follow along the journey.

This is a friends to lovers romance which isn’t straight forward. For a start Angelo has always grown up protecting Lucia. He has never allowed himself to act on his feelings even though he loves her. You can feel his conflicting emotions as he trys to remain the protector and friend, the guilt of wanting her so badly battling with his responsibilities to protect her.
Lucia on the other hand wishes Angelo would stop seeing her as a little girl but see her as the woman she has become.
After a drunken night where she offers Angelo her virginity leaves her feeling rejected she decides to move on.
Fast forward and their paths cross again. Will now be the time when they are honest and confess their true feelings for each other?
Or will there be too much water under the bridge to ever make this work. Can love conquer all or will some obstacles be to much to overcome and any attempt to try may destroy their friendship.

This is a slow burn romance that deals with some difficult situations such as loss and miscarriage. It is a beautiful emotional love story

Someone to Watch Over Me: A Forced Proximity, Childhood Friends to Lovers, Unexpected Pregnancy Romance (Wounded Hearts Series Book 3) (Wounded Hearts Romance)

I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the first two books in the series, but it wasn’t necessary to know the players and their background.

Angelo and Lucia have a very deep friendship sine they have known each other since her birth. He is her protector through her life and he is the first one she thought to run to when her world came crashing down.

I loved both of them so much and while I got frustrated with them, I also understood. They were willing to remain friends and nothing more out fear of not having one another. Jumping from friendship to a relationship isn’t always successful and ends up causing more pain than a normal break up would.

I laid in bed and read most of the book in one sitting which isn’t something I have done in quite a while. Unable to put it down and fall asleep. Worth every minute of lost sleep.

I’m on the fence with this book. While it was good, it wasn’t great. I was waiting for an attention grabbing moment but it never came. While I liked Angelo almost entirely, his way of thinking is very strange when it comes to his feelings for Lucia. Lucia’s over-reaction to almost every scenario was overplayed as well. The end of chapter 17, I had to walk away for a few days and then attempt to engage in the story. Overall, Lucia’s BFF, Prisha, was the most honest and relatable character. I would have loved more scenes with her realism. I was hoping to enjoy this more and find a reason to rate higher but it was just an average story that kept me entertained.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the first book I’ve read from Debbie Cromack, and let me tell you, I am excited to go back and start at Book #1 in the Wounded Hearts series! This book was excellent, I was in awe at how much I learned about the characteristics of the characters in so little time. Debbie Cromack weaves a tight web between her main characters, Angelo and Lucia. I was rooting for them from the first chapter to be lifetime partners. The path that I was on was like riding a roller coaster ride, and I did not want to get off until I had my happily ever after! This is not your typical next-door neighbor book, but so much more. The passion I felt between these two characters was incredible, but boy they both go through so many trials and mishaps because neither of them are willing to admit their true feelings (unless alcohol is involved). This romance was a hot, steamy one with a twist that you would not see coming. Will Angelo and Lucia be able to overcome the mistakes of the past, or will it be too much too late? You will not want to put this book down once you get started, so be prepared everyone for a good read, with more than a few bouts of anger, tears, laughter, and of course, your frustrations at seeing what our characters are too stubborn to see.

This series is so gut wrenching but I love it so much. I love everything the author has done with The Wounded Heart Series and I think book 3 may be my favorite. Someone to Watch Over Me, makes one feel happy, sad, angry, and you may even shed a tear. These characters get put through the ringer and you get to see it every step of the way.
Angelo and Lucia are best friends. Yet they secretly love one another. Just that description right there you know there’s going to be drama and fireworks. But through that drama and fireworks you see teo very stubborn characters start to grow out of their stubborn and selfless ways.
I will reiterate that I love this series and though this is book 3, you don’t have to read the books in succession. It works just as well as a standalone novel. However I would recommend you read them all, even if it’s out of order. All 3 are worth it.

Someone To Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack is book three in her Wounded Hearts series. Lucia and Angelo have been best friends since Angelo was two years old and Lucia was born. Although with them being so close they pretend to only see one another as “siblings” rather than romantically… except they are both bad liars. Phewwww, I don’t know what it is about Debbie and her stories but I am living for them. They are SO good and so raw. I love how relatable they are even if I don’t fully relate to everything. She’s just that good. The connection between Angelo and Lucia was palpable, I could feeeeeeel it in every interaction. The lust, the longing, the love, can she write for my life lol! The story itself is a stand alone though the first two books have characters that you’ll see in here and I LOVED it. It truly tied together so well. The slow burn for these two was exactly what they needed. I cannot sing enough praises for Debbie!

This book is full of emotion and pulled me in right away. There is character growth along with heartwarming moments and heart wrenching moments.
This is Angelo and Lucia’s story and you won’t want to miss out on it. These two have grown up together because their parents are best friends. Angelo has always been Lucia’s protector because he loves her but also because it’s expected of him. In his mind there have been different reasons throughout their childhood and now as young adults as to why he hasn’t told her how he truly feels. Lucia is afraid that Angelo only sees her as a younger sister and is afraid to ruin their friendship if she were to ever tell him how she really feels. I must have yelled at the book a few times hoping they would figure it out so they could be together! I don’t want to give anything away, so I’m just going to say this is a must read. I can’t wait to read what this author has in store next.

In this friends to lovers romance, Lucia and Angelo war with themselves wanting the other but afraid to lose them as their best friend. When Lucia experiences a life changing event, she goes running to Angelo.
Opinion
This is the third book in the series and I have not read the other two. This did not give me any problems as I read through it. If previous books and relationships were mentioned, they were explained well enough that I did not notice any gaps.
The story was cute. I thought that both main characters lacked enough confidence to go after what they wanted and that frustrated me a bit. After the initial kiss, I felt like their relationship should have moved forward. I definitely was frustrated with the life changing event and how it came about. Though, I think this was more realistic.
Overall, I did enjoy the book enough to read more in the series as I come across them. It was a quick read with many interesting scenes.

This is a great friends-to-lovers story!

Angelo and Lucia have grown up together since their mother’s are best friends, and Angelo is Lucia’s brother’s best friend. They continually fight their attraction to each other. They come in and out of each other’s lives over the next few years. But, when Lucia needs someone to run to when things get rough, she can only think of Angelo. Will he be there for her? Are those feelings they both have still be there?

I really enjoyed these characters and how much they grew up throughout the course of the book. Angelo wants to be the man that Lucia deserves…breaking both of their hearts in the process. However, their friendship continues to be strong enough to bring them back to each other time and time again. Even though thy move on, there is still something there. But, no matter what, they are always friends first. Their friendship is tested when she comes to him with news that could break him once and for all. To watch how they navigated this situation kept me on the edge of my seat.

I have enjoyed the other books in this series…and this one was no different. I could not put it down, from beginning to end. Once again, I was sucked into the world of the book and did not want to leave!

I found this book thoroughly encompassing, the characters Angelo and Lucia are lifelong family friends that both hide their true feelings so well they both move on.
Angelo, friend, protector, watches closely over Lucia, then breaks her heart, and his own.
The Character growth is well written as we find them re-acquainted after years. The characters themselves have grown and matured as they pick up a relationship that has grown as well.
They learn to lean on each other and can be with each other again.
This is an emotional book that has many aspects of life that some may find upsetting.
I found this book an easy and enjoyable read. If you are looking for a friends to lovers with a few twists along the way then this is the book for you.
Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts, #3)Someone to Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Angelo had loved Lucia since the first time he saw her, but being her brother’s best friend, he always put himself in the role of protector until one night Lucia asked him for the thing he could not give. Lucia was devastated with the rejection from Angelo but although heartbroken she will carry on with her life and leave him and their friendship behind.

Months go by without them speaking and Angelo is becoming more agitated that he has not spoken to Lucia for ages until the summer when their family’s holiday together and there she is more beautiful than ever and still stirs the attraction within him, but he has to keep it in check until he is more stable and reliable in his work and life to offer her the vey best she deserves. Lucia is nervous to see him but as the holiday goes on the slip back into the ease of friendship until one night when he kisses her all her worlds come together only to be rejected again and heartbroken all over again.

Years later, water under the bridge Lucia discovers something which turns her world upside down, but all she can think about is the only person who can help her make sense of the situation and take care of her is Angelo, but will he be onboard for the long haul.

This is not the first book I have read by this author, and this certainly won’t be the last, although this is the third book in the series this book can be read as a standalone. The story is about a bond which although we try to dismiss seems to guide us back to the light which shines. Angelo was a great character full of honour and morale’s although through the story his loses his way with Lucia in the end it works out brilliantly. Lucia’s character was strong and resilient and even though she was rejected a couple of times by Angelo she knew he was the one for her and pursued until the end.

I thought the tragedy in the story was written brilliantly and with compassion for someone who has never been through such tragedy the emotion through the writing was gut wrenching and my heart just hurt with the emotion. The writing was engaging, and the story flowed easily, with me not want to stop until I had finished the story. Thank you for a wonderful book and can’t wait to read more in the future.

Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts, #3)Someone to Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a good read with a unique storyline. Debbie did an amazing job at developing the characters and the locations for this story.

This book follows the story of Lucia and Angelo. Lucia and Angelo have been friends for their entire lives. With families that are so close, it is not a surprise that they would be best friends. Unfortunately for Lucia, she falls in love with the one guy she feels she can never have.

Angelo is determined to protect Lucia and keep her out of harm’s way. However, how can one do that when they are not around all the time like they were in the past? With life events cause them to drift apart a little bit. There is nothing Angelo would not do for his best friend.

What happens when Lucia shows up to ask the man she loves to help her since she is pregnant by the one person he told her to stay away from? Would things have been different if that one night Angelo’s answer to her question was different? What is going to happen with the baby daddy? What happens when you put two best friends in close quarters for a while?

Read this book to find out what happens with Lucia and Angelo. This story is a great read and was hard to put down. I suggest reading this book after the first two in the series.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Someone to watch over me, is the third book in the Wounded Hearts Series by Debbie Cormack. This is the first book I have read in this series and it can be read as a standalone. This story focuses on best friends Angelo and Lucia, brough up together since they were little, Angelo is very protective of Lucia. She thinks it is because he sees her as a little sister, however that is very far from the truth. Angelo and Lucia are both in love with each other however neither seems ready to admit it to the other. After Angelo leaves college there is a period of absence which does not dampen their feelings, and when an unexpected event brings them back to gather it is fingers crossed that they can work it out. I liked this book, I wanted to knock their heads together a few times and wanted Lucia to be more selfish but this is testament to how well written it was. I will definitely be going back to read the other books in the series.

Someone to Watch Over Me is a friends-to-lovers romance. Angelo and Lucia’s moms have been best friends forever, so naturally growing up together the two were inseparable. However, secretly both are in love with each other but develop a million excuses to never share their feelings. The book starts while Angelo is a senior in college and about the graduate, but Lucia still has 2 more years. He is so used to being her protector that both are feeling uneasy about being apart. In conjunction with this, Lucia is a virgin and has been waiting for Angelo but decided to shoot her shot a little and is rejected. This rejection leads to a damper on their friendship. Basically, this tends to be the trend throughout the who book. This back and forth of wanting each other, not telling each other, and then oh yeah throw in the troubling pregnancy troupe. Can they get over themselves enough eventually and drop the excuses of timing to finally have their happily ever after?
This book, while a cute romance when things were good, drove me a little nuts. I loved the characters as people, but the thought process behind why they were not together, then together, then not together drove me insane. Maybe it is because I am in my 40s now, that I read these types of plots and just want to shake the main characters and say “Will you just be honest and say you love them – things would be so much easier”. Because of this thinking, I really wanted to smack the 2 of them so many times along the way of the book. However, I did enjoy the author’s writing style and Angelo as a character. Lucia was fine but you can hear how young she is in her actions, words, thinking, etc. While Angelo made me plenty mad with his unrealistic thinking, how he responds to Lucia made him loveable. He is a loving, protective, caring man that knows how to properly love a woman. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good read, I think I just don’t want young people to make these mistakes in life because all it is is a waste of precious time when you could just be happy!!

Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts Series Book 3) by Debbie Cromack – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Someone to Watch Over Me (Wounded Hearts, #3)Someone to Watch Over Me by Debbie Cromack
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which kept me happily turning the pages. This heartwarming, slow burn romance definitely took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. Luciana has been in love with her best friend, Angelo Mancini her whole life, but she’s never told him, what she did do, is ask him to take her virginity one drunken night whilst they were in college. He refused and it left Lucia feeling embarrassed and rejected. Years later and with her life falling apart, she turns to the one person she trusts, but is unsure of Angelo’s reaction to her being pregnant by the guy he warned her to stay away from!
However, Angelo invites her to stay with him and the more time they spend together she wonders if he sees her as more than just his best friend, especially when he’s up on stage playing his guitar and singing a song he wrote for her. Lucia is very aware that she’s carrying another man’s baby, and although she hopes there could be something more between her and Angelo she doesn’t want either of them to end up with broken hearts, or ruin their friendship. I felt fully immersed in the storyline, as the descriptive narrative brought both the setting and the characters to life. I loved the relationship between Lucia and Angelo, and seeing how it changed and developed throughout the story. Their chemistry really came across and led to some rather steamy scenes. I’m keen to read the first two books in this series now.
