My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Intriguing and compelling
A very unexpected find and the first book I have read by this author. I absolutely loved it. The characters were well developed and the concept was fascinating. A sci-fi romance thriller, I was glued to each page. The writing while descriptive, allows for the reader to make the connections. There are a lot of emotions involved which tugged a bit at my heartstrings. An excellent series starter that left me wanting more.

The brilliance continues.
The second book of the series is dedicated to Tuscano and Delilah. It takes off immediately after the events of book 1. Highly recommend reading book 1 first as it will help to know the motivation behind the events in this book. The author’s writing is on point – fantastic world building and wonderful characters. The book has it all – vampires, werewolves, witches, action and romance. A series that has me hooked. Bring me book 3 now!

Vampire mafia
This is just pure brilliance. I have been in a bit of a book slump and this comes along and blows my mind. Love the world the author creates with vampires living alongside humans. I fell in love with Salvatore and Luce quickly grew on me. The story just builds from the start with threats to the vampire society, special powers, thrilling action and there is no time to take a breath. Ugh – and then it ended – I am already seeking out book 2.

Heartbreak, healing and humour
It was so good to be back in the small town of Parker and getting to know Breckin and Griff. Their story was heartfelt and beautiful. The author’s delivery is amazing with a brilliant mix of humour, romance, drama and real life issues. This can be read as a stand-alone but it is so worth reading book 1 to get to know the town and the people more. I am really looking forward to CC and Brant’s story in book 3.

States of Grace (Grace Locke Mystery Series) by Mandy Miller – Review by Rayne East

States of GraceStates of Grace by Mandy Miller

An intriguing legal thriller
I was curious when I read the blurb and was very quickly drawn in from the first page. Grace is a very relatable character, with a rawness that I found endearing. All the characters were well developed and the writing is well paced and did not lag once. With twists, a bit of humour and a lot of mystery I was kept intrigued right until end. Strong debut and series starter.

Action, mystery and more
This is the second book in the Nite Fire series and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed book 1 and was ready to delve back into the world of dragons and monsters. I recommend reading book 1 first as it will help to orient the story. The author is brilliant with the world building and bringing a story with so much action, emotion and mystery but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. The story has a natural flow that kept me turning the pages. So good to see Dahlia with her crew. Intrigued to see what adventure awaits in book 3.

Brilliant conclusion
I am conflicted because I am content with the ending but I don’t want the series to end. I absolutely love Tasha and Levi, they balance each other out. The barriers they face just keep coming but they push through them together. The author has really bought their A-game with this series – with drama, romance, action and paranormal – I was in my element. This is a series not to be missed – highly recommend.

Thrilling dragon series starter
A gripping start to an action packed supernatural dragon series. This book had it all: mystery, suspense, drama, romance, paranormal and of course, dragons. It is an intense storyline, with strong characterisation and excellent world building that draws you in from the start. Dahlia is a strong female lead, that has a natural appeal and keeps the story moving. The author does a brilliant job at ensuring every character is memorable in their own right and the use of imagery is spot on. Looking forward to book 2.

Emotional whiplash
This book had me raging one minute and then cheering the next. I was beyond frustrated as the events unfolded that I nearly threw my kindle across the room. It takes a good book to really affect my emotions on such a physical level – and this book did just that. I felt every bit of anxiety, pain and betrayal. The writing will draw you in but the characters and their story will keep you glued until the end.
