Rick has a secret, he is gay. Although with his career in the Marines was not an environment he wanted to come out, he did have another marine who has become his lover for more than six years, until one night after his brothers wedding he is floored when his lover tells him he is engaged to be married to a woman.

In the morning reality hits and Rick realises that the blonde fantasy is no other than his brothers new junior partner in his law firm. What will happen now his secret is out.
I loved this story, you see the vulnerable side of Rick and I just wanted to hug him when Dave dishes the hurtful hit my heart just went out to him. This is the first book I have read in this series and the first book by this author and I am downloaded the other two books to read to find out about the other brothers. Tis story was full of heartache and new starts and the chemistry was brilliant between the two main characters. The story is well written and can’t wait to read more.

Her mom only had one rule – do not find my new boss attractive. Well that was an epic fail.
Miranda is just broken up from a relationship which at first stung her but she got back up and dusted herself off. She lives in the basement of her parents and is bored every night at dinner with her mom going on about her new boss, the devil incarnate.
Nick has had enough of woman, after his last girlfriend screwed him over bigtime. So with him selling his company and relocating to help his Uncle run his business but when he runs into Mona his Uncles right hand woman he just seems to wind her up with everything he does.
So being forced to go to the company christmas party is not Nick’s idea of fun but when he walks in a sees a vision in front of him he can’t help but ant to get to know this beautiful woman, the only probably is it’s mona’s daughter. This will not end well.
I loved this story, the fact that Nick pursed what he wanted and that Miranda was just the breath of fresh air he needed was great to read. The characters was well written and the chemistry between them was a great read. It was a real page turner and I loved the carefree attitude of Miranda and with her finding love in adversity.

Dead Lawyers Don’t Lie: A Gripping Thriller (Jake Wolfe Book 1) by Mark Nolan
4 Stars
I am reading this series totally out of order and was really excited to finally come back to book 1 and see where this all began. I know that I had become completely invested in this series in later books so had no fear about reading this one.
This one was a bit long. I love when I can sit down and read a book in one sitting, possibly two, this one took me a bit longer. There were so many moving parts and little additions to the storyline that popped up all the way through, I had to reread a few things and stop and try to figure things out along the way. There was A LOT of extra descriptions and information that I would skip over as I didnt need these for the story.
In saying all of that, this is one of my favorite genres, and this book had everything I would expect from a book in this genre and then some. The evil was really evil, the suspense was edge of my seat, the secondary characters were amazing and then add in Cody and it was a done deal, I was hooked.
This book I do feel was needed in my reading of this series. I so far have loved the later books, and seeing how this series and the writing of this series has progressed is really great.

Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn is a contemporary suspense boxed set that hold three amazing stories. These stories will have you biting nails and on the edge of your seat. Not to be missed.
Secure Desire is a great story that is fast paced and there is a lot happening, but it is enthralling and interesting and it certainly had me engrossed and invested. The suspense and mystery, lies and deceit are bad enough but the life of one woman had literally torn her apart. But the men who literally hold her life in their hands never want to see her go through anything like this again. There is intrigue and horror, alpha hot men and strong women, love and anger there are the monsters who think they are above everybody who will sicken you as you journey along with the wonderful characters that will melt your heart. I spent a lot of time with my heart in my throat and my jaw clenching whilst reading this book but there were times when my heart leapt with joy.
Cassie’s life was just coming together when a new assignment changed all that but what she doesn’t know is that the monsters from this assignment where the ones who changed her life six years ago. Now they have found her again her life will never be the same again. But one person who has just found her will do everything in his power to protect her.
Secure Again is another winner. It is a thrilling and enticing read that is nonstop action from the start to finish. There are so many players it is a wonder that R.L. was able to keep up with them all as it was a little daunting myself but she did a masterful job of weaving it all together to come out with a story that will have your heart pounding and your emotions on high alert. I really enjoy the Chase Group stories and love their characters. This one was a bit of a hard pill to swallow at the thought of what the evil men and women in this story were doing and I could not wait for their just deserts to be served with a side of whipped cream. It is choc-a-block full of action and danger, secrets and lies, heartache and love.
Dr. Elizabeth Reed is one strong and sassy, independent and beautiful woman but she is heartbroken. She has long suspected that things have not been right with the injuries she sees on some of her patients. When she asks questions, she doesn’t realise she is now putting herself in life threatening danger. However, when doing everything she can to save a life, she comes face to face with the one person who shattered her heart.
Martin Bailey is the CEO of Chase Security International, but all that is left behind when he has a family emergency. Whilst waiting for answers he finds himself face to face with the one person who tore his heart out and stomped on it. What he finds when he gets to the hospital will require the whole of Chase Security and then some to bring the monsters to justice.
Secure Heart – R.L. Dunn does not fail to deliver and this third book is just as enthralling as the previous two. It is nonstop thrills and action and this enticing fast paced story sees lots happening. R.L. keeps us entertained with lots of players and masters the art of giving us something that will have you on the edge of your seat and your heart pounding, the tension rising and your emotions on high. I can’t say enough about my love of the Chase Group stories and the characters. It is full of action and danger, secrets and lies, heartache and love, suspense and mystery, lies and deceit, alpha hot men and strong women. As you journey along with the wonderful characters your heart will be pumping, jaw clenching and times your heart will melt.
Holly Dupree Morrison is used to abuse but the thought of losing her daughter Sadie is unthinkable. When a stalker has his sights on Holly, she is forced to get help from Chase Security. How are the threats to Holly and Chase Security related?
Julian Dupart is the new head of the Chase Group and is trying to get his life back on track. So, when a sassy 4-year-old comes into his life she steals his heart, but he can’t face losing Sadie to the same fate that his wife died from. Whilst dealing with all this it seems that Julian and Chase Security are now in the sights of someone out to get them.

Starvation by Molly Fennig is a raw YA story where the main character, a male has an eating disorder and mental illness. It is a pretty heavy handed topic and tale that many will find confronting. The story is told in dual timelines, the before and the after, the past and the present which shows why Wes became how he is. I found the writing style very descriptive. It is a powerful and very emotional read and certainly sends a message.
Hunted by Sarah Biglow & Molly Zenk is a paranormal vampire story but not the normal trope. This duo gives us something that is unique and original, exciting and with a fresh twist on the fang gang genre. It is fast paced but as I have come to expect from Sarah and Molly there is definitely nothing lacking in the story. The tale is well plotted and the characters are endearing. There is an air of tension, mystery and thrills as your mind bends to the fantasy world that Sarah and Molly have designed. I certainly can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this story. It was full of love and romance. The writer did such a good job writing the characters that you couldn’t help but fall in love with them.
Miranda had settled into her life living with her parents and being single since she split with her ex and she was happy with that.
That is until a chance meeting at her mother’s work Christmas party changed her life.
Nicky has stepped in to cover for his uncle at the place of business that Mona (Miranda’s mother) works. He gets off to a rocky start with his new employees and most of them don’t like him. So imagine his surprise when a woman at the Christmas party takes his eye and heart and that woman is the daughter of his employee who hates him.
Together they have obstacles to overcome. The age gap, people reactions and more importantly Miranda’s mothers reaction. Together they face all these things head on.
Is their love strong enough to overcome all these obstacles or will Miranda’s mother get her way and split them up?

This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first one. This author keeps putting out books and i am impressed with every single one. I get pulled in from the very first page and I can’t put it down until I have devoured every last word. It was fast paced and I enjoyed all of the action that this book had. Men and women fight for justice and I am completely here for it! I am looking forward to reading more by this author!! And I would absolutely 100% recommend this to any of my friends that are looking for a great read to pass the time with! Happy Reading!

Urban Justice is the second book in the Chicago Vigilantes series. You could read it as a standalone because the author does a good job of giving bits of backstory, but you’ll get a better feel for the setup if you read book one. This story starts out with action and keeps you turning the pages! I liked Sloane. She’s brave and dedicated to her mission. While it did feel like the attraction to Luke was a bit abrupt, their connection is still hot and steamy. With the action, danger, mystery, and suspense, Urban Justice makes a great rainy-day reading adventure!

If you like steamy romance with tortured heroes, you’ll love this enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance.
Carrie Pulkinen is a paranormal romance author who has always been fascinated with things that go bump in the night. Of course, when you grow up next door to a cemetery, the dead (and the undead) are hard to ignore. Pair that with her passion for writing and her love of a good happily-ever-after, and becoming a paranormal romance author seems like the only logical career choice.
Before she decided to turn her love of the written word into a career, Carrie spent the first part of her professional life as a high school journalism and yearbook teacher. She loves good chocolate and bad puns, and in her free time, she likes to read, drink wine, and travel with her family.
The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink is a Gut Wrenching Romantic Suspense that will literally take you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster ride. I will add there may be some parts that maybe a be trigger for some with domestic violence and abuse. This is a beautifully written story that you can this author poured there heart and soul into it. From the very beginning I was drawn in and found myself lost in the pages and on the edge of my seat. I had a feeling what kind of person Ethan was and knew right away which direction this story was going to go. I haven’t personally ever been in this situation but I’ve got friends and family that have and its heartbreaking to think of the things they went through. Gia is a woman who has been through so much in life, she lost her mom to cancer and finds herself working at a bar but has dreams of much bigger things. Ethan is a man who on the outside seems to be everything any woman could ever dream about he is Chief of police. She quickly finds out is he’s anything but the dotting husband. Then there’s Derek who I pretty much love his character and his patience with Gia. Find out what happens next. I recommend reading this book. I don’t want to give to give to much away about this story. Im definitely going to check out more books by this author.

Four Stars
I couldn’t stop laughing through this whole story. The characters were hilarious and well written especially Crimson. From the first page she had me laughing. Her filter is missing. She is a clumsy witch but it hasn’t stopped her from being who she is. The demon anonymous was funny. I couldn’t help but to enjoy this story. Mike is an interesting character as well. I have fun with this one and can’t wait to read more. It put a twist on the supernatural. In most stories you hear about the paranormal not interacting well together. Here it’s a beautiful grouping of diverse characters. Rosemary can suck my toe with her serious control issues. She just did too much for me. Overall a good read with it serious moments but still making you laugh.

I have been eagerly waiting for Urban Justice, book 2 in the Chicago Vigilante Series, to come out. I loved the first book and love this one even more. The author writes in such a way that you want to read the book so you learn what happens, what situations the characters find themselves in, and see how they solve things. I love the Sloane, the strong female lead and the rest of her team who all have each other’s backs. The professor and former Marine, Luke, is a great addition and helps Sloane search the underground world to stop a dangerous drug. Although the book can be read alone, I highly suggest you read book 1 of the series first.

Wow! Starvation by Molly Fennig, hit me right in my feelers. Although this story is about an eating disorder, I think she nails it on a lot of disorders and how that feels and how it works. For me her descriptions of grief were hauntingly accurate. She has put together a great little story that accurately describe the emotional turmoil that many people feel and live with every day. Read this book, it will open your eyes.
New twist on vampires for me. Hunted by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk has a lot going for it. I love the characters and the unique plotline of the story. Sounds like a great new series that I will be watching for and reading. I would like to see a little more world developing going on but there is lots of good dialogue. Reader beware there is some hot and steamy adult situations in this one.

What a story! I loved this! Couldn’t put it down! The story is enthralling! I mean a main character that’s easy to hate/love and has so much growth potential. Plus he speaks Italian? YES Please! Actually I love all these characters. Some we get to really know. Others we get a smidgen of knowledge. A few are past characters (Ice Tigers Book 1). All are intriguing, sassy and simply wonderful. Callie is a sweet character that is the complete opposite of Gianluca. That makes for some great banter and sexual tension. I don’t want to give any of this wonderful story away other than I highly recommend. Just read it!
I really can’t wait for more in this series. All the characters fill my heart with happiness. The storyline is not all rainbows and sunshine bit has some darker times too. It draws the reader in with the exciting characters and a strong, fun story.

This book starts with Eleanor Devero and Kace as they are recovering from the loss of their child and a look into Eleanor’s thought patterns and despair as she spirals further into the darkness in her mind as she thinks about their job and how it puts them in the line of fire and that is exactly why they have lost what they have lost, the scars are there from the physical healing her body has already been going through, but it is the psychological scars which are hitting her hardest at the moment and drawing away from Kace seems to be her only option to stop the pain she is going through, even though he is going through it too. As she remembers the scenario where she was injured, she keeps replaying it trying to figure out who would have done it to her and she cannot accept that the police have stopped investigating and left the case open as there were no clues or leads to follow anymore and that is when she started investigating everyone around her who might even be slightly related to the case, this is also why she is now on unpaid leave and is going to have to attend mandatory counselling sessions. Since the case has been put on the backburner and the case surrounding the Bullet Man has come in, all the focus has been on that and trying to find the proxy killer behind it, but there aren’t many leads to follow there either, or at least, none that are of any use, they are chasing their tails and the only thing turning up are bodies and solved crimes attached to them.
The Bullet Man in question has developed a theory that when a bullet and a tortured heart exist together, the only variable is opportunity and so he has set up an experiment to investigate just that, by choosing test subjects and interacting with them to build up a profile of whether his intervention would help them or not. Having the ability to do this experiment as part of his actual profession gives him access to possible candidates and the resources and ability to solve the unsolvable without bias.
As Eleanor enters the therapist’s office with Kace for her first session, on the outside, she is unkempt, unfocussed and unable to look them in the eye, she is just a mess and a ghost of her former self and that is just the tip of the iceberg, inside, she is hurt, guilty, angry and just a plain wreck of her former self, she also wants revenge. Kace is doing most of the talking though until he is asked to leave so that the two of them can start their individual session before moving onto joint sessions as a couple. After the session Kace asks how she got on and Eleanor explains her homework to him and this bring up more feelings to the surface that she would rather weren’t there, they then go to the precinct where she can start to work with Kace on the Bullet Man case and start to get her bearings back and Kace thinks that her insights could help them with solving the case, but with all that Eleanor knows about the Bullet Man, she only wants to hire him.
What Eleanor doesn’t realise is that the therapist who she has been sent to is the Bullet Man and that as she is trying to piece herself back together with his help, he is also studying her, but when things come to a head, will Eleanor be able to decide what to do and will she follow her instincts or run as far away as she can? This is a thriller with twists and turns which keep you guessing throughout and at the fast pace you will go through this book, it is well worth giving it your full attention.

Life’s a witch, what a perfect title to grab your attention. Well, Carrie Pulkinen has, yet again, out done herself. She has, again, created another soul grabbing masterpiece. Honestly, the amount of creativity and feels Carrie puts into her stories and characters leaves me completely speechless. It is more than just words on a page but a sense of realness and perfectly done story telling. This story had me on the edge of my seat, burying my face into my hands while I laughed and fanning myself. But seriously – it yanks you in with a ride or die friendship, recovering demons that go to AA meetings, a ‘kind of’ witch that is more than just what she can or can not cast, a spontaneous lust turned into love… what more could you ask for? You will not regret diving into this gem. My only warning is this story will grab you and hold you captive until the very last page.

I am new to Evelyn Sola but when I saw the gorgeous cover I knew I had to know what was between them. I am really glad I took the chance because this book is so adorable and perfect for the holiday season. This year is difficult for everyone and we have more time on our hands to do the simple things like read all the Holiday themed novels lol. This is a perfect addition to that list if you have one. The story is a contemporary romance with some age gap issues and opposites attract type sidelines. Miranda and Nick may have some odds stacked against them and will of course have some situations that will impede the newfound romance before it can really get off the ground. I loved these two though and was cheering for them to find that magical holiday feel and happily ever after. It was an ending I couldn’t have been more pleased with and now I look forward to seeing what else is available from Evelyn Sola!

Lynne Russell has once again brought us more fabulous PJ Santini in this third book of the series, Love Heels! The TV News Business Can be Murder. This book is the perfect lazy weeknd read and will keep you entertained as you try to figure out the outcome for Santini this time. I love these books because they really bring a realness that makes you feel as if you are right there with the character. It is accurate and hilarious at times while keeping the adventure level turned all the way up. I won’t detail too much more on the contents of this PJ Santini case other than what else is given in the synopsis but I can assure you this is one you don’t want to miss. I loved every moment of trying to follow and guess the case details of PJ’s latest and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next!

This is the story of Crimson Oliver, a witch who just can’t catch a break with her magic and everytime she casts a spell, something goes wrong and Mike Cortez, a demon in rehabilitation who makes deals with the devil and owns a restaurant all at the same time.
The story starts with Crimson as she is about to go in front of the Council of Elders of her coven, which is in direct relation to her latest magical mishap. As the Council convenes and Rosemary takes her place as head priestess, she asks one of the other witches to read out the charges against Crimson which, if they are found to be true, will .end up with Crimson having her power bound and a life in exile away from other witches for the rest of her life and Crimson has no intention of letting that happen as she is not guilty of any of the charges and given the result of her questioning, it looks like that is exactly what will happen, that is until she invokes the goddess and the right to challenge the high priestess to a magic battle and the goddess deems that it shall go ahead, much to the amazement of the rest of the coven, especially Rosemary. It is decided that the two witches have one month to prepare for the challenge and the winner takes the role of High Priestess and the loser has their magic bound and must live in exile, but Crimson is sure that Rosemary only rules the coven without their respect and decides that there must be more to Rosemary than meets the eye and that she will both find out and win the challenge, all she has to do is practice, practice and practice some more.
Next we meet Mike as he is about to go to his meet with a group of like minded demons and remembers to take his angel cake with him, a way to sweeten the evening, he also knows that he is late with his freedom payment when his hand starts to burn and his spine tingle, a sign that the connection between himself and Satan is itching for it to be paid. As the meeting winds up, Mike heads back home, he passes a few guys who he could read and see whether there could be a deal to strike, but he figures that it isn’t worth sending Satan yet another testicle as payment of the deal, he already has enough of those! He also sensed no malice in them and as he normally only made deals with those who would already be damned anyway, he passes on the opportunity, however, as soon as he gets past the restaurant downstairs and into his apartment, Satan is waiting for him, although it isn’t because he is late on a payment it is because he has a job for him, he is in need of a new assistant as his jealous girlfriend has gotten rid of the last one and he will only accept a witch, if Mike can manage it, then he can be free, so now the only thing Mike has to do is find one.
As Crimson and Mike decide to go to the same bar for different reasons and unbeknown to the other, they run into each other and the old flame ignites between them, but soon they have to go their separate ways before one of them decides to do something they would regret. The pull between them is too strong and they decide that they want to see where things will lead, but there are mishaps along the way and when they talk about it, they accidentally make a deal and Mike manages to damn Crimson when she agrees to give her body and soul to the devil in exchange for winning the contest against Rosemary.
This is a romp from New Orleans to Hell and back again, but will everything turn out to plan, or will history repeat itself? The only way to find out is to join the ride and find out.

I was so excited and ready to get my hands on this second book, Urban Justice, in the Chicago Vigilantes series from India Kells I adored the first and was literally on the edge of my seat waiting for this one, much like I am now in anticipation for a third. Urban Justice focuses on Sloane and Luke as they once again try to save Chicago. The energy in this book is intense right out of the gate and doesn’t stop until you read the last words. I found myself transported to the underground of Chicago and the adventure and romance was enough to keep me enthralled from beginning to end. I would recommend that you read the first one before this one though, it will give you the best experience and this is a series you don’t want to miss one word of. I won’t give much more details than what is in the synopsis because I cannot let this one be spoiled. It will be worth every minute you spend with it.

Secure Boxed Set: Chase Security Series Books 1-3 by R.L. Dunn
Secure Desire (Chase Security Series #1)
Dunn has a way with bringing characters to life. This was a fantastic read and can’t wait for book 2. This is the first book in the Chase Security Series and my first read by the author.
Cassiopeia Ellis, Cassie, has lost her entire family and now people are coming after her. Something happened to her six years ago and she remembers bits and pieces. The quote I choose for Cassie is: “I promise you’re not. Life is too short, and there are tons of things to be afraid of. One thing I am very sure about is I’m not afraid of you.”
Ian Chase runs a high-end business. He met Cassie six years ago, but when he runs into her again he knows he has to have her. He wants to know everything about her, but things are tough in the beginning. The quote I choose for Ian is: “Some other tidbits? I know you prefer tea over coffee. Your favorite snack is gelato. I know you have a passion for high heels. Your favorite scent is honeysuckle. I know you love art—even pig art. You crinkle your nose when you’re thinking. Christian calls you ‘bunny’ because you used to have big ponytails that looked like bunny ears. You are a capable, brave woman, the strongest woman I ever met. I know I want to spend my life getting to learn everything about you and making you happy. When you are well enough, I want to take you to my bed and love you like you deserve to be loved.”
Secure Again (Chase Security Series #2)
The second book I’ve read and definitely not the last. This is the second book in the Chase Security Series, but it can be read as a stand alone. Dunn has a way of bringing you into the book.
Martin is the leading male in this book, but Ian makes an appearance. Going back to his hometown changes everything for him. Not expecting to rekindle the romance from his past. The quote I chose for Martin is: “Thank you, everyone. Those words are too few for all you are doing. I have some news for all of you. Today I made a life decision: I’ve adopted the infant injured in the trailer park fire. Lola Wyatt will be Lola Bailey by morning. In advance, I thank all her new aunts and uncles for being a part of her life. Second happy news: I plan to ask Elizabeth Reed to marry me the second she wakes up.”
Elizabeth, Beth, is a doctor who finds that guards are abusing the prisoners. When a cop is shot and she tends to him; she finds that it’s the younger brother of Martin. Not sure how things are going to go she faces the Bailey family. The quote I chose for Beth is: “That is a bleed. Eric, Patrick, recheck the CT. What vessel does it look like to you? There are multiple layers of collateral circulation from previous injuries. He follows his own book.”
Secure Heart (Chase Security Series #3)
Another great read by Dunn! This is part of the Chase Security Series, but can be read as a stand alone. Dunn has a skill of making you fall in love.
Julian is missing his wife and takes to the bottle. His family doesn’t know and his friends help him out. When he’s moved closer to family he finds himself falling. The quote I chose for Julian is: “I’m the hard a**, Julian Dupart. You two were hired to replace one person: Mia Donnelly. According to your resumes, each of you hold all the specific requirements to meet the conditions of this job on your own. You received huge salary bumps and countless perks. I walked down to your office with the intentions of getting to know you and discussing the issues concerning the branch. Instead, two blivets greeted me with attitude and boredom, wasting time playing games. Both of you are on notice. Go home now, and tomorrow, return with a new attitude and work ethic if you want to continue being employed by this organization. OUT!”
Holly is a single mom who isn’t happy. She finds that her kid is sick and wants to help. Things get tough and she isn’t sure who to turn to. The quote I chose for Holly is: “Well, Momma , I guess it’s my time to take over your business.”

Rick is the third book in the Ingram Brothers series. While reading the previous books might give more detail on how one event originated in this story, I was able to read this book without having read the others. I LOVED THIS BOOK! All the feels, all the steaminess. I don’t usually read books that are based in the state I live in and I’m glad that I didn’t realize this one was or I would have missed out on a superb story. The characters are written in a way that makes you connect to them right away. And, you will definitely want to read the prologue in this to get the set up. It makes all the difference to the depth of emotion you feel later on in the story. Oh, and I can’t forget the kitchen scene with the air freshener – laugh out loud hilarious!
