I adored Morgan and her approach to life and things around her. This book was truly a fun read with the perfect amount of paranormal and romance mixed together. Her coworkers and friends around her help bring the story to life, while the details provided by the author also danced through my imagination

This is book one of two in the Nurse Morgan series. Anyone who likes paranormal intrigue with romance and great storytelling should pick up this book. Main character Morgan Cutler survives a near-death experience, and it gives her psychic abilities. This book is wonderfully written and kept my attention the whole way through. It’s a quick but satisfying read, and left me itching to get at the next book. I love a good main, female character and Morgan did not disappoint me at all! I highly recommend this book! 5 stars.

Romance, mystery, ghosts, humor and fun. This novel has that and more. Distant Heart Sounds by Kate MacInnis packs quite the paranormal punch.
Morgan is an emergency center nurse in the metro Detroit area. She has been practicing for 20 plus years, so she’s seen it all…or so she thought. After a near death experience, Morgan now sees things she never expected…ghosts. With this new ability and the potential for a new love interest, Morgan is having to embrace change. Both good and bad.
One of my favorite things about this book is the fun loving characters. They keep you interested with the back and forth banter. Although it’s a paranormal story, it does not veer into horror and is actually light hearted. It’s a fun read that will charm many. I look forward to continuing with Morgan’s story to see how she continues to grow with her new life and see where this fun romance leads.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I always like stories with a hint of the paranormal and this definitely counts! I also have a lot of respect for people in the medical profession, fictional or not, so the main character Morgan is no exception. Morgan is strong and intuitive with an unfailing curiosity about her world and the way it changes, or at least the way she perceives changes. The characters are all so well-written with distinct personalities, especially in the way they interact with each other. This was truly an excellent story and I’m excited to read what’s next!

I loved this authors take on the paranormal!!! So many twists and turns take the reader down the path of hilarity (seriously laugh out loud hilarity), an emotional journey all tied up with the perfect amount of romance!! Morgan thinks she may be losing her mind and she also thinks she may be killing her patients. But when hot steamy hunky doctor shows up sparkaI thoroughly enjoyed this page turner! Looking forward to the next in this series!!

This is not a typical book that I would pick up to read, but I am glad I did! Nurse Morgan undergoes a brain surgery and acquires a gift that allows her to see what the normal eye cannot – spirits, auras and the afterlife. She meets new friends that live with her (Jonathan and Elisabeth) who host parties, cook great meals, have exceptional gardening skills in addition to helping Morgan with her new gift – but she is one of the only people that can see them! Nurse Morgan has great friends (real life) in Savvy and Tiffany, who look past her odd behaviors to understand what is truly going on… and of course – what about the new hunky doctor? Yes! All in all, this a light hearted read – one that will make you laugh and enjoy the time you are with the story. The characters are very likeable and relatable. I will definitely read #2!
Such a good book. I love the descriptions in this book. There is such detail. Morgan is awesome. She is imperfect in so many ways and that is what brings her to life in the story. I am ready to start the next book now to see how her story continues.

This book made me feel all the feels. It had me laughing till I cried, and made me feel worry for Morgan Cutler. Watching her learn about her power of seeing ghosts at the age of 40 makes me feel like this book was meant for me. You don’t see very many heroines in their late 40’s dealing with a ghosts, and evil incarnate. I don’t live in the Detroit area, but this author made me feel like that was my temporary home. I loved the writing and the details and the romance and the action. It was well blended together and not one took center stage. I look forward to reading book 2!

Distant Heart Sounds is the first book in the Nurse Morgan Series. This is an excellent find if you are looking for a fun, paranormal romantic mystery. Nurse Morgan is a fun and understandable character. She is returning to work from a near-death experience and now sees things that no one else does. Her new psychic abilities have her questioning her sanity and causing her alarm, especially after she returns to work at the hospital. I liked her character and the other characters as well. The story is well-written and enjoyable. In addition, I enjoyed the mix of several genres. Though there were resolutions to the story, I’m excited to see where this story goes. I look forward to reading more from this author and seeing more of Nurse Morgan in the future.

Distant Heart Sounds is the first book in the Nurse Morgan Series. It was my first by this author and I really enjoyed it. I will be reading book 2 soon! The book follows Morgan, an Emergency Dept nurse, shortly after returning to work after a near death experience. She soon discovers she has new abilities- seeing auras around people, seeing the future and past events, and communicating with ghosts. The ghosts that live in her house are hilarious, and a good addition to the story. I like how all the characters personalities are a bit different, and complement each other. Morgan has great friends, and it was fun to see her abilities develop as the book progressed. I was hoping for more development into Dr Lightfoot’s character, so I hope book 2 builds on him more. I recommend this book- while paranormal in nature, it isn’t creepy. Its lighthearted and funny at times.

I loved this story and I am so excited to read the sequel! When we meet Nurse Morgan she is experiencing weird paranormal situations that she cannot explain, while trying to get back into the swing of things at her job as a charge nurse at the emergency center in a metro Detroit hospital. She had just recently survived a blown aneurysm in her brain six weeks previously. Things start ramping up when she starts being able to communicate with ghosts. Initially she thinks she is going crazy, but as she continues to get to know her new friends and share her secret with her best friend and boss Dr. Savannah Holt, she starts to lean into the experience. Mixing into all of this chaos is a new doctor at the ER, Dr. Caleb Lightfoot who isn’t freaked out by the new ghostly friends that Morgan is making. The author did an amazing job of keeping a tight pace with the writing and slowly guiding us through the story. She even throws in cool scientific theories regarding auras and the fourth dimension. It was a fun mix of paranormal and romance. I look forward to seeing how Morgan, Caleb, and Savvy continue to deal with the added complication of ghosts in Morgan’s life.

I loved reading about Morgan Cutler! Morgan is a nurse in the ER, and after a near death experience and subsequent surgery she begins recognizing that she has newfound psychic abilities. After mentioning something to her surgeon, who blew her off, Morgan decided she would keep these new skills to herself. After meeting and enjoying the company of a new ER doctor, she finds he also has psychic abilities.
I’ve never experienced this blend of humor, paranormal, romance and mystery before, but I loved it! Very likeable characters, a unique and interesting storyline and several laugh out loud moments.

I really enjoyed this book – going in to it I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The storyline was well written and the characters were great to read about. I liked Morgan, she was a fun character to read about and was supported by some great secondary characters that really added that extra something to the story. The storyline and setting for the story was quite unique in that I’ve never read a paranormal set in a medical setting – it was nice to read something a little different! Overall a really enjoyable read and one that I would definitely recommend. I am looking forward to reading more from this series!

Morgan, a nurse, has recently recovered from brain surgery. Upon her return to work, she starts to notice that she can see and interact with the dead. While adjusting to this new development, a new hot doctor tries to get her attention. Opinion If you read my reviews, you know by now that I am a big fan of paranormal books. This one is pretty awesome. I relate to the main character because she is over 40 and a bit jaded. Having the ability to see the dead is definitely one of the paranormal qualities I would love to have (I think.) The book itself is well written with witty comments to make you laugh. Her friends/coworkers help to make the book fun, light and in some cases tense.

I thoroughly enjoyed Distant Heart Sounds, but if I’m being honest, it took a few chapters to get into it. The author has written a wonderful book with all kinds of emotions, happiness, fear, anger, humor etc. I actually laughed out loud at different points throughout. So if you give it a try, don’t give up on it. It’s so worth pushing through because once you get into it, trust me when I say you will be caught. Hook line and sinker.. lol So we meet Morgan, a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. Who is just returning to work 3 weeks after having life saving brain surgery. Little did she know how much that event was going to change her life. She begins to experience things that she can’t explain. Waking up to a party going on in her house, yet there’s no one there. Experiencing strange smells in different situations. Seeing patients’ essence leave their body as they pass on. And so much much more. Unfortunately she seems to be questioning her sanity, she’s adamant that she knows what she saw but knows if anyone finds out they may think she’s crazy. Savannah, Morgan’s boss and dear friend, notices Morgan is not herself and is beginning to worry. After confronting her about it Morgan brings her into a world like no other. One that they begin to experience together, that blows even the reader’s minds. Then there’s Caleb, person of interest, new doctor on staff. He’s mysterious, handsome, and very confident with himself. Caleb is also very drawn to Morgan. Will it go anywhere? Well pick it up, download it, whatever you have to do to jump into this world the author created. You won’t want to miss the adventure the characters end up on that’s for sure.

Enjoyable paranormal romance story with auras, ghosts, mystery and romance. Morgan Cutler is an ER nurse with many years experience……and going through a near death experience of her own she now has the psychic ability to see spirits of deceased people. There were moments that I chuckled with all the dialogue with Morgan and the “spirits”. I love that Morgan was also opening up herself to something new and throw in a handsome ER Doctor…what can truly happen if Morgan does see evil or are things better left unseen??

Morgan has had a brain aneurism rupture, and a few weeks after surgery she starts to see, hear and smell things that shouldn’t be possible. One night she wakes up to a party in her living room that she can see, hear and even smell, though the people aren’t really there, and they don’t seem to be able to see or hear her. Eventually, she learns that she can see auras as well as spirits from the other side. As an ER nurse, this can sometimes be frustrating for Morgan, as she is overwhelmed with recently passed people who want or need her help, or just want someone to talk to. Eventually, Morgan learns that she’s not the only one in her friends group who has these abilities, and her friends are eager and willing to help her learn how to work her powers and navigate the new world she’s found herself in. Now, if she could just get the male ghost in her house to behave appropriately, she’d be in a much better position.

I have always been a big fan for anything paranormal, but this one was impossible not to love. It had that cuteness vibe, and was very engaging right from the start. I enjoyed the character strengths and progression as I read. The author wrote a very much perfect book and story that I really enjoyed!
Morgan is an was a great character. She had such strengths, but also at the same time was well, human. She had a good heart, and when something “gift” her ability to do what most cant it changes her. Is it for the better or for worst? I find gifts always come with a price. I loved watching her grow as a character and how her new gift made her as a person and character. The book had those moments that very much made me laugh more than a few times! How could I not love this book It had everything I loved within its contents! I loved the writing technique of the author! Very well done and engaging as I read.
For sure this a a book I highly recommend. Read about Morgan and her adventures. I for sure am looking forward to see what Morgan will face off to next It was a fun and comforting read with all those warm fuzzy feelings! I highly recommend this must read book! It is not one to be passed up by any account!

What if your life was turned upside down and you suddenly had the ability to see, hear and communicate with those on the other side? How would you handle the situation? Distant Heart Sounds takes a look at what Morgan Cutler encounters after an unexpected near-death-experience leaves her with psychic abilities. As a 40-ish, skeptical, heard-it-all-before, metro Detroit emergency center nurse, Morgan believes she has seen just about everything in her 20+ years on the job, but then one day, she feels someone she cannot see.
The new Morgan opens herself to a relationship with a hunky doctor at the emergency center, who has some psychic ability as well. Romance, humor, mystery, and being connected to others bring peace and joy into her life. But what happens when Morgan witnesses the evil inside one man’s heart? Some secrets are better left unseen.

If you are looking to read a fun exciting short read, look no further this book is for you. In everything that is going on around us in the world, we need to find something to get lost in for a while. The story is a simple plot line. What makes this story great is the characters. The characters are adorable. Morgan is a nurse who does not believe in paranormal anything until she had a near-death experience. That opened her eyes to a lot of things. While she was skeptical at the beginning, she finally learns that she needs to be open to different things. She realizes that she in fact has feelings for a special doctor. This book has a little bit of everything, romance, humor, and mystery. I highly recommend this story as it will be a short fast read.

Distant Heart Sounds (A Nurse Morgan Series #1) by Kate MacInnis
This is the first book by the author that I’ve read, but I will be on the lookout for others. MacInnes has done a phenomenal job with this.
Morgan, a nurse, is now able to see things she hasn’t been able to before. Thanks to a near-death experience she knows she has roommates. The quote I chose for Morgan is: “No, it’s actually good logic. Who’s to say? Maybe I need to do more research.”
Caleb, a new doctor in town, meets a fantastic nurse. He invites her out after having a chat with her. They have something in common. They can see auras. The quote I chose for Caleb is: “You won’t believe this, but it’s almost 5:30 p.m. Would you like to go to a local place and have an early dinner? We’ve eaten so much junk today, I genuinely need some solid food to balance all the bad. How does that sound?”

This book is about a woman called Morgan who gains an odd ability to see ghosts after she undergoes a brain surgery.
I really enjoyed this book! It was really realistic and the majority of Morgan’s responses were how an ordinary person would react with ghosts and other traumatic things occurring, which I really appreciated! I really liked the writing style and I loved Savannah, the best friend, as well as the other people who worked at the hospital she worked at.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to read something paranormal but doesn’t want to be scared! It’s not a horror or thriller so it’s more accessible, in my opinion, to a wide variety of readers. The last chapter was slightly rushed, in my opinion, and although I was satisfied with the ending, I did want more. Although, it is the first in a series so maybe that’s why it stops where it does.

Distant Heart Sounds was a pleasant surprise! I’ll be the first to admit that paranormal anything is not my normal genre. It took me a minute to get into the story, but I immediately liked the characters, especially Morgan and her co-workers/friends in the EC.
Morgan Cutler is a long time career nurse in the EC of the Good Sam hospital. She doesn’t have any family left, but has made her own family. After a very serious and life changing surgery, she has found that some aspects of her life are very different. Lucky for Morgan her friends and the new doctor on the floor are very accepting and intrigued.
I really enjoyed this novel. The writing was wonderful and the characters very fun! I am hoping there is more to come for Nurse Morgan Cutler!

I was excited to see what Distant Heart Sounds was all about as soon as I read the blurb. I felt like this could be a fun twist on a medical drama romance and it for sure was! The characters drew me in from the very first page. I love Morgan Cutler, our MC, and following her journey as she began to understand her new life post major surgery. The drama and supporting characters really was gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat as I followed along with them in the Good Sam Hospital emergency department. I loved the extra layer of paranormal and felt like this was the perfect way to get myself in a Halloween/spooky season mindset. I look forward to seeing what the other books in this series will bring, especially after finding out this will continue to bring us more of nurse Morgan!
