Getting the goods by Elizabeth Perry – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Getting the GoodsGetting the Goods by Elizabeth Perry
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I fell in love with this book just by reading the blurb. The premise was set to be funny with loads of laughing out loud moments. However I feared that the writing or the main characters will dissapoint. It wasn’t the case!!! Connor and Gabrielle are hilarious characters by law, add in the naughty idea that Gabrielle has in mind and it will let you in fits of laughter. Loved it!!

Hard as Steel: Book four by Virginia Wine – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Hard as Steel: Book four (Hard as Steel: Book four by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3 and a half stars for this one. When I read the blurb I was convinced the story is about Steel and Nikki. How Steel is such an alpha male obsessed with his job when Nikki comes along but tries to keep her away as she can be a distraction. I was expecting that pull, the banter, his inner struggle but we got none of that. However I found myself more interested in Grace’s story and her past and what’s going on with Flynn. Those parts had the premises of a good psychological thriller that I didn’t even care at that point how the relationship between Steel and Nikki develops. I didn’t see them as main characters.

I understand this book is part of a series however a bit of a introduction of what’s going on would have been amazing and made this book possible to be read like a standalone. Without that, I felt I am missing important bits and made Steel and Nikki’s story hard to follow.

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4) by Tarina Deaton – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4)Imperfect Heart by Tarina Deaton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I lost the count of how many times I laughed and chuckled while reading this book. The situations that Zoe found herself in are just hilarious and of course it’s even more funny when a hot man like Tim is around to comment on them. But oh, her comebacks are delicious and full of sass!!

Two people who were married before but have been hurt in the past. They crave that person that will be for them through the ups and down and they can cuddle with after a long day. However they are chucking it on their busy lives, pretending they are okay just like this rather than him saving another damsel in distress and her to go trough cheating again. But when it’s bound to happen it will happen and these two will have the help of all their friends to make it happen 🙂

Zoe as a heroine is amazing, so brave and positive and of course feisty!! Tim is her perfect match *smirk* Great secondary characters as well!

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn – Review by Elena Tabacaru

BECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa RicaBECKONED, Part 5: Adrift in Costa Rica by Aviva Vaughn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Part 5 of Soren’s journey. It’s my first book though and somehow I am happy that I didn’t read the others because I liked Soren right from the beginning and if Angela was right for him in my eyes I would have had a hard time to warm up to Elena. But that is just a subjective opinion. I don’t take easily to trading main characters and from my understanding Angela is part of Soren’s life for at least 3 of the other parts.

That being said, if this is your first book from the series, don’t worry of not understanding or missing important bits. We still get an inside about Soren’s life before Costa Rica. And frankly, Soren grows and develops so much in this book, it’s a beautiful process to watch. And Elena, I just like her. And not because we have the same name and speak the same language:)) she is strong, talented and so down to earth, keeping those walls around her tall but I completely understand it and good for her that she does. Although Soren on paper is quite the catch and many would throw themselves at him I like that he wonders why Elena chose him. That woman is keeping him on his toes!! Curious to see what part 6 will bring but I really hope he learned from his mistakes and he will make the right choice.

Painting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Painting Kuwait VioletPainting Kuwait Violet by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Colour me impressed. Like Kuwait was painted Violet and Violet was “painted” forever by Kuwait. A plot that gets your interest right from the beginning. Kuwait immediately after war, but prospering and being the attraction of citizens from other unfortunate countries. Violet, from Goa, India leaves her pride home and comes to Kuwait to pay her family’s debt by working as a maid. Though everything is thrilling with what happens in the house, the missing maids, the weird noises, the author highlights some very serious issues that even today persists. So many graduates nowadays work in different fields in order to maintain themselves without having the chance to put that degree at use. The way Violet and the other maids were treated is something that many immigrants have to pass through even in these days. So hats down for Pamela to touch such a sensitive subject.

A book about history, life lessons, different cultures but also full of adrenaline that will keep you in your toes till the very end!

Special Agent (Undercover FBI Book 6) Charli by Mimi Barbour – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Special Agent Charli (Undercover FBI Book 6)Special Agent Charli by Mimi Barbour
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The only thing that stopped me from giving this book 5 stars was the fact that I missed where the main characters fell in love. I wouldn’t know to tell what exactly happens between Charli and Blake. If it was insta -love or if it came gradually. Suddenly they just love each other. And it’s a shame because they are deep characters and I wanted that moment as out there as possible. Charli has such a big heart and so much love to share that only someone like Blake could open her eyes. Blake, who ironically has been a womanizer all his life.

A story about forgiving youself, Charli ‘s case, about second chances, Kayla & Angie, and about believing that not all red heads are the same, right Blake?!?! As for Poppa John? I simply love him, thank you for your wisdom 🙂

TWO HEARTS IN ACCORD (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 7) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Elena Tabacaru

TWO HEARTS IN ACCORD (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 7)TWO HEARTS IN ACCORD by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

3,5 warrior stars! Once again Tamara delivers a strong message about second chances to life, love and future. Anna and Neil understand each other like no other: both being deployed on tours in Iraq and had lost one of their limbs. Trough all the pain, frustration, depression that came after they still managed to fight and come above water. True warriors and I am so happy they found each other..and Finley 🙂

Resisting the Rancher (Hills of Texas, #2) by Kadie Scott – Review by Elena Tabacaru

Resisting the Rancher (Hills of Texas, #2)Resisting the Rancher by Kadie Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Second book in the series where we meet the 2nd Hill sibling, Will. I don’t know which one I like the most but one thing is certain: Kadie comes up with the most patient and swoon worthy heroes. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first book, this one can definitely be read as a standalone.

We get an instalove between Will and Rusty, although Rusty fights it with all her being. Being raised by a single father who didn’t know how to deal with girls, Rusty has been love deprived. Needless to say her trust in men is nonexistent. But Will’s patience and love broke those walls one by one.
Sweet, intense and steamy story that made me want to visit Texas and one of those rodeos (coming from a city girl in Europe) 🙂
