I love how this story wasn’t your usual fantasy read or what you’d expect in any sense. I love how Kara sought out to pave a place for self and found a sense of worth within herself. Her courage is further exemplified with her fierce desire to combat her dangerous enemies but protect those around her as well. What I enjoyed about Kara was she was very likeable and relatable as a heroine. This story was intriguing, page-turning and powerful to read!

This book is the fourth in the series, so it did seem like I started something from the middle. I should go back and read the first three books to understand Kara O’Keefe and her life better. The book itself is written beautifully and you can empathize with Kara, and you would want to know more about her. And the only way to know more is go backwards s in this series and read the first three books. The story of a young woman, who tries her best to be a part of the clan, honor the vow, facing an ancient enemy, Kara comes across as a dynamic, inspiring, endearing character. I liked this book and her heroine. Would come back more wiser reading the first three books.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-Mcphail is the fourth book in the Eternal Cycle series. I do recommend reading the series in order. I picked up here on the fourth book and enjoyed it a lot by it felt like I was missing bits and pieces. I am now going back to pick up the pieces of the story. Kara O’Keefe is a wonderful, smart, and strong female character. Her tale caught my attention and did not let go. There are attention and details paid to the world-building and story development which allowed Kara to lead the story. I really enjoyed the creativity of the book and also the extra mini-stories included at the end. It was a great bonus. I look forward to reading more from this author soon and catching up to pick up the pieces.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. While a little outside my reading preferences I enjoyed this story. I will say first off I would recommend going back and reading the rest of the other three books in the series prior to jumping into this one. I unfortunately did this backwards and started here and it made the book a tad disjointed and incomplete for me. I am sure that is because I was missing the back story and character development that was important to the story. With that said this book was quite the magical adventure and did leave me wanting more. We get a story of Kara O’Keefe and she has quite the story to tell. This book has a myriad of amazing characters and magical elements with a fabulous world built upon with each and every word. I felt as if I was transplanted to this magical place and I never wanted to leave. I will for sure be going back and checking out the previous three books and any more that should come. I loved this. I just wanted more and needed more grounding, so I am giving it a four star rating that I feel will increase when I do read the entirety of the series.

Ackley-McPhail is a gifted storyteller and this tale was a very enthralling read. I enjoyed reading this tale filled with fantasy and magic, light and dark. I was intrigued by the journey Kara found herself on and enjoyed following her as she found her way. This story felt bigger than the pages it was confined to and I hope to read more about Kara soon.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

Eternal Wanderings was an interesting read. The characters were growing while they continued their journey. Kara was looking for her place among her people. But even that seemed like a long shot. Everywhere she went trouble seemed to follow. You could feel the animosity coming from the Romani. The fact that they didn’t except her made no sense to me. I have to say that it was a little too short for me. Though her journey is far from over. The author did a good job developing the characters. I also felt like there was many points that the author made you really think about how you would handle the situation. A very interesting series about finding who you’re and following your own path. Though Kara hasn’t found hers yet.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is a very short and original fantasy story with a few odds and sods added to the end of the book. Danielle always paints a vivid tale that makes it easy to journey along with the characters. The story doesn’t flow as well as I would have liked but that said I still found the storyline interesting and full of mystery, action and magic.

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is a good fantasy story about a girl trying to find her place. This was an interesting story to read. It was easy to connect with from the start and was well developed all the way through. Kara was a good character as the focus of the story – she was easy to engage with and kept the story going.
At time’s I did find the book to be a little confusing however this soon passed and I was able to pick back up the story. Overall this is an enjoyable read and for anyone interested in this genre it is worth a go.

3 ½ Stars

“She wandered a while, among the wagons, some brightly painted and built from wood in the tradition of the Romani people, others battered metal caravans traveling under their own power or pulled behind trucks or cars, as you would find at any campground around the world. All of them bore the essence of the Rom, brightly painted, delightfully unique. Each family had set their own camp, with carpets on the ground and cushions for sitting. Some had fire pits, others had portable grills. At some of the hearths, awnings had been raised for shelter from the elements, at others, battery-powered faerie lights had been strung from poles but the space left open to the sky.”

“The sounds of the bustling camp punctuated by the laughter of both children and adults comforted her. The calm, easy way Sveta chatted with her, telling her little details about the clan and its people as they passed, comforted her. The approaching conversation? That made her uneasy. Whatever the conversation she was to have with Markos consisted of, Kara would keep her promise to Granddame Rose.
As they entered the cool dimness of the wagon Kara fought not to laugh as Beag Scath—still in his true form—scampered up her back to hide beneath her hair. Clearly, something of her amusement showed on her face, however, given Markos’s deepening glower.”

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe is the fourth book in The Eternal Cycle series by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. It is an intriguing and original fantasy- woven with such vivid detail that the story and characters came to life before my eyes. This is something Ms. Ackley-McPhail does incredibly well. But, having said that, I would like to have read a longer version of the story and gotten even more detail.
There are times the story lags a little, and other times where it seemed a little disjointed and confusing. But I have come into the series on book four, so I am intrigued to go back to read the other books and see if that helps me appreciate this book better.
It is a very quick read- with a several ‘bonus’ stories to be found at the conclusion of Eternal Wanderings.
I love that Ms. Ackley McPhail has such a wonderfully creative imagination, as her stories are nothing if not unique and original. So, I look forward to seeing what she does next.

Thank You, Danielle Ackley-McPhail!

I enjoyed this fantasy book about a young girl who is looking to find her own way in life. I was pulled into this book from the first page. The characters made the story feel real and really brought it to life. It is full of fantasy, immortals and so much more. I had no issues connecting to the characters as they took me on their journey. Kara made a great character. She made the story engaging and easy to read. I enjoyed watching her grow as she faces a truth of not belonging and looking for the acceptance she desires. What and where will destiny take her on her journey? This is a shorter story but it is paced full magic and action. I highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail. It is a dark fantasy book that pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. I grew to care about the character of Kara O’Keefe. She is a young woman who has joined the Romani caravan. She tries to be accepted by the clan. She also is honoring a vow that she made. I found Kara to be a strong, independent, and caring young woman. What will happen when an ancient enemy brings danger to those in the clan? Read this book to find out. The author has done a wonderful job of world-building and it is very helpful that there is a glossary of terms in the book to help better explain some terms. Both the story and the characters come alive on the pages. There are some suspenseful moments as well as emotional ones. Some bonus stories are included. I enjoyed reading them and found them to be both exciting and entertaining. Don’t miss out on a wonderful story that you won’t want to put down until the final page.
