This was a cute and funny story. I read this with my 7yo who laughed throughout the whole thing. Safe to say, he enjoyed it. Sometimes the best gift, is one that wasn’t planned. My son and I have read so many of Lois Wickstrom’s books. I believe this one is one of his favorites. Who doesn’t love unicorns, rainbows and poop? I would love to have a unicorn who poops rainbows on my doorstep.
I was not expecting how this book would turn out. I guess that’s the point of the story really. Things you plan for have a way of surprising you. There were surprises in store for both of the main characters. I read this with my 7yo son who enjoyed it. The illustrations are colorful and fun. We always enjoy Lois Wickstrom books.
This quirky tale Mealtime at the Zoo, PB & J Café, is James’s debut book. It is just what the doctor ordered or should I say zoo animals to bring happiness to the young at heart. This delightful book is aimed for kids 3 to 8 years old. Everybody loves PB & J sandwiches and James added in a couple of recipes that my grandsons were only too eager to help try out ending with sticky fingers. Mealtime at the Zoo: PB&J Café is a journey that teaches valuable life lessons to children as well as expanding their imaginations. The illustrations bring the story to life as we follow along on this adventure with hidden delights on each page. This delightful children’s story is full of fun and told in a rhyming way that makes the kids want to read along. I look forward to reading more of books from James. Enjoy!

This is a super cute rhyming book about different ways to enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich! It features different animals and how they’d prefer to have their sandwich served. The illustrations are fun to look at and very colorful. All ages will enjoy this book that has an underlying theme of accepting the differences in others.

This book was good. I did not think it was as funny as the others, I have read. This story is about a half unicorn that can poop rainbows. She eat every snack that she gathers to get for her friends party and then poops right at her door. Ready to read the other books.
This is a cute story. With rhyming words, food, a party and pooping. Oh my I laughed so hard. What a fun story and great pictures as well. Stega is half unicorn and half stegosaur. While gathering different foods for her gift to a friend. She too enjoyed them as she ate them. Now all she has left is an empty bowl. Not only that but when her tummy starts to rumble, she can in no way make it to the woods. Is pooping on a doorstep acceptable? Once again this author has written a cute fast paced story. Totally child engaging and funny for all to read. The rhyming was child interaction as well. My grandchildren loved this story. A must read!!!

Mr. Bonlon gives tours at the candy factory and one little girl is always on those tours. Candy starts coming up missing and Mr. Bonlon sets out to find out who and why.

Stega a half Unicorn is on her way to Benny’s new cave house warming party. Stega wants to bring a gift but all the choices she makes are edible and she finds herself nibbling along the way. There is something special that happens when Stega though when she arrives at Benny’s front door.
This was fun, an imaginative way that rainbows are created. I think little kids will be laughing out loud with this book. Great illustrations.

I really enjoyed this story. It was very fast paced and my 3 year old loved it! This book really showed him that in situations where there’s a problem, being nice and understanding pays off in the long wrong! We really enjoyed this book! I hope to see more like it in the future!
This book was so cute, and the illustrations were so colorful. It was perfect for my granddaughter; she is almost four. She loves to be read to and this has become a favorite of hers. Annabelle keeps stealing candy from Mr. Bonbon and he has to come up with a way to teach her a lesson, But Annabelle is pretty smart, you will have to read and find out.

Inspiration for his debut novel Mealtime at the Zoo, PB & J Café, came while walking through the Fresno Chaffee Zoo’s reptile house. As he considered the snakes behind the glass, he asked his daughter a simple silly question…
“What would a snake put in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?”
Slightly disgusted she responded, ‘a mouse’ and so began this books journey.
With this question in mind, adding a little rhythm and rhyme, one line evolved into to two, then three, then four, and many many more. Eventually, a series of stanzas were compiled and a fun and exciting children’s book for kids 3 to 8 years old was born.
James’ primary goal is to inspire children to continue to be silly, creative, and curious with fun rhymes and vibrant art.

Loris Opens Up His Heart (Courage Tales Series) by Dagmara Sitek . This is a great children’s book that includes information about something a little deeper than most children’s books. It’s a story that teaches kids its ok to have feelings and its ok to deal with them. It’s the story of Loris who has been sent to a new foster home and the kids there are super excited, Loris is not as excited and is very quiet and not opening up to them. Inaya & Cam are his foster siblings and when Cam begins to get bullied, Loris stands up for him. After Loris stands up to the bully he tells his foster siblings his story and why he is so withdrawn and not open. It teaches kids that when before you judge someone you should find out more about them so you know what they have been thru. Loris learns that after he opens up to his siblings he can be more open in other relationships too. I feel like this is a very important book for kids to read in this day and age!

A well written book about fostering kittens that children can read and understand. Abby and Charlie hear about the need for people to foster kittens. After talking about it with their parents, and discussing how their cats Oscar and Emmy might react, they foster 3 kittens to help the kittens get used to being around people and other cats. The kids in the story understand why fostering is needed and learns how rewarding it is while it also can be a lot of work. The illustrations are beautiful and make it easy for the kids to follow. I have read a few books by the author and appreciate how well written it is for young readers.
I read Oscar and Emmy Foster Kittens with my 7 year old before bed, initially my 9 year old declined joining us. Shortly after overhearing the first couple pages, my animal loving son was excited to join in. This was a great story to teach fostering and it’s importance all while appealing to young children in a fun way. The kids and I really enjoyed taking turns reading this book and we will be reading more about Oscar and Emmy in the future for sure.
Queen of the Fairies is a super cute children’s book with colorful illustrations that help bring the story to life I simply can’t say enough about how much my son and I love this author. My son loved this one and wants to be a good fairy and sometimes a bad fairy. His imagination went wild reading this book I love how this author encourages children to be themselves and never give up and to be free with their imagination. I highly recommend reading this cute story. My son and I are always happy to read a book my this author.

Stop that Lion by Lois Wickstrom is another home run from this author. I am never disappointed with the unique story telling or the fun ways that they find to tackle complex issues in a way that is entertaining and easily digestible for young children. That paired with the illustrations makes this book a 5 out of 5 stars for me and my kids!

Marshmallow Rabbit is a clever colourful and imaginative 30 paged adventure story. It is aimed at children from kindergarten through 3rd grade. Lois writes stories that are adventurous and teach valuable life lessons to children. Annabelle loves candy and this sneaky little thief tours the chocolate factory whenever she can and leaves with all the sugary goodness she can steal. But Mr Bonbon decides to put a stop to her thieving ways and find a punishment that is befitting the crime. This delightful children’s story is full of fun, with colourful and interesting illustrations by Janet King. The narrative makes for an engaging tale. There are also things to learn along the way such as the consequences of one’s actions. You don’t have to be a child to enjoy the adventure.

I love this book! I loved that there was an issue that clearly needed to be resolved. I loved that the little girl overcame her fears and decided to give it a try and actually did it! She helped the issues on both sides and we love to see that!

This is the tale of the game between Mr. Bonbon and Annabelle where Mr. Bonbon has to come up with a way to get Annabelle to stop stealing the candy from his candy factory. Annabelle is always outsmarting him and she does it again this time. I like how Wickstrom’s stories always have a lesson to be learned in her stories; however, with this story I feel that the lesson is subtle and could possibly be missed by kid and misconstrued into a not-so-nice lesson. I was hoping at the end Annabelle would be remorseful about stealing the candy and she and Mr. Bonbon would be able to figure things out, but that’s not the case. There is a lesson to be learned, but it’s not really done in a way that I feel is appropriate. I really like the illustrations in this story. I loved this story. The owner is trying to teach the young girl about stealing. The story is entertaining, fun and tries to teach a lesson. The characters are witty with their conversation in trying to catch each other. I read this with my grandson. He gave it a 5. I also give it a 5. This is probably our favorite yet. We are still talking about ways to help protect the candy from thieves and how the little old ladies could have helped. It’s a fun story and a great conversation starter to jump start the imagination.

Mr. Bonbon was up bright and early, determined to catch Annabelle, the candy thief. He was up all night plotting to trick her and teach her a lesson. He thought: I know! I’ll make the candy look easy to steal. He made a giant marshmallow rabbit.
Lois is a former science teacher. She has written a series of science-based folktales. In each modernized tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending because of learning scientific principles. Lois likes to garden, ride her bike with her husband, cook, and she votes in every election.
This book reminds me of the books I use to read when I was younger(the artwork style, even the story plot),very nostalgic. I loved it. We usually read this author for story time at night. Which we always enjoy tremendously. It’s always a fun learning experience for them. There is always something you can take away from reading the author’s stories. Like in this we got ‘’ keep trying til you find a the solution ‘’ but your takeaway might different from ours 🥰🥰 can’t wait to continue more of Lois Wickstrom stories

The illustrations in this book are beautiful and detailed. There’s just the right amount of text to keep kids hooked without overwhelming them. My son was very into the story and was asking questions and guessing what was going to happen next. It’s a book we would read again for sure!

The illustrations were bright and beautiful. My son was surprised by the ending. The story didn’t flow as smoothly as her other books, but it still held his interest. We’ll definitely read more from this author.

This is a cute little story about a little girl exploring the world of fairies and trying to write their story. The little girl wanted to make sure she did not make anyone mad because of her story, so she took her time to write a nice story. I found the little twist at the end to be really cute. I enjoyed the story and recommend this story for any little girl who loves to read about fairies.
