Wow! This book was an amazing read! Every step of the way I felt like I was immersed in this story. The characters were extremely well developed. Sometimes the shifter paradigm can be overdone or just feel trampy. But Lowe does a wonderful job with this genre making everything feel very authentic and real. I loved every single page and am excited to delve further into this series. Loved it!

This short paranormal romance packed a big punch in just a few pages. I found the author’s way of developing the story to be interesting even if it took a turn or two I didn’t see completely necessary to the overall storyline. But overall I enjoyed the premise of the plot and the main characters. A new author to me and one I am interested to see more from.

Lisa: Coming Of Age (Guardian Shifters #1)Lisa: Coming Of Age by K.M. Lowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lisa: Coming of Age is the first book in The Guardian shifters series by K.M. Lowe. If this book is anything to go by the rest of the series is set to be fantastic. I have come to this party quite late, as this is my first read from Ms. Lowe- and there are also several more books in this series that have already released. But, now that I have a taste of her work, I will definitely be exploring the rest of the series, as well as her other books.
This is an engaging paranormal coming of age story- with a friends to lovers romance, shifters, drama, angst, discovery, danger, adventure, banter, love, friendship, family, emotion, surprising developments, suspense, and tension.
Lisa has her world and everything she thought she knew turned upside down when her past is revealed- turning up secrets she could have never imagined. She will need to wrap her mind around this huge, life altering revelation- and come to terms with this ‘Coming of Age”. This is an adventure that will change her life forever.
I have already added the other books in this series to my TBR list- and can’t wait to find out what lies in store for us- starting with “Jasper: United Together” (Book #2).
Engaging, fun, and emotive!!

Thank you, K.M. Lowe!

  • I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters Lisa and Markus and the way they mature and grow physically and emotionally during the course of the book. There was plenty of drama and passion, and the suspense kept me reading. I loved that it was set in Scotland, as I have a soft spot for the place, and it characterised the speech and the descriptions too. Overall, this was a great fantasy readView all my reviews

Black Cat Security by Katerina Ross – Review by Jonell Collins

Black Cat SecurityBlack Cat Security by Katerina Ross
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Black Cat Security by Katerina Ross starts out as a very interesting read. She builds a well described world, very interesting characters, (I mean magicians, can it get any better) and the flow of her writing is easy to read, and her world is easy to envision. It then takes a dark turn that took me by surprise. Ida, a witch, and a dominatrix takes Dragomir (who is surprised but not exactly unwilling) under her wing. Erotica is not a genre I read but different strokes for different folks. Dragomir has some serious anger issues and self esteem problems. Although this is erotica and will be very uncomfortable for some, I would be remiss if I did not point out that some of the things that the author points out about self-loathing, and how we think of ourselves, is of value. If this is a genre you like, I think you might get a lot out of this story.

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

I love a good love/hate story. Gabby and Hunt can not stand each other. But once they get that first sinful taste all bets are off. You can’t continue to hate someone you’re falling in love with. I didn’t understand why they hated each other. It was simply miscommunication. Instead of verbalizing what the issue was they continued to be nasty to each other. Not caring how their relationship was affecting those around them. I found it extremely childish. I liked that Christian wasn’t just a douche that dressed like a 13 year old going through a emo faze. The author made it a quick light read and it wasn’t bad. It was very to the point you didn’t get too much filling in between them meeting up. Overall a nice read that doesn’t leave you guessing or wondering what’s next.

King & Hunt: A Lust/Hate Story by Brienne Dubh is exactly that, a story full of lust and hate. It is a perfect balance between Christian Hunt and Gabriella King, who have known each other for years. They are notorious for being hateful towards each other, but one birthday party starts to change all that. They have a hard time getting back into their hateful ways. I absolutely loved this story. It was a super quick read that I couldn’t put down. There was humor and plenty of steamy scenes that kept me reading. I highly recommend reading this story!

Lisa: Coming is Age by K.M. Lowe is the first book in the Guardian Shifters series. This is an exciting start to a new series and it is one I had enjoyed so far.
This author is a new author to me so I didn’t know what to expect going into it. I almost didn’t read it as shifter stories are starting to feel a little over done but the reviews changed my mind. And I am so glad they did.
This whole book felt refreshing. The story was interesting and certainly gets your attention. It was well developed and I really enjoyed reading about the characters.
As a introduction to this author I was definitely impressed and I am looking forward to reading more in the future.

Out Of The ShadowsOut Of The Shadows by Theresa Sederholt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh My God! I don’t know where to start with this review. This book totally blew me away. Firstly, total kudos for Theresa Sederholt of tackling such a difficult taboo subject. Secondly, unless you have a swinging brick for a heart then you will need tissues for this book. A whole big box of them,
This story deals with the subject of physical and mental abuse but in this case it is the husband who is being abused. The story is told from the POV of Dane Johnson and also his 13 year old son Brady. It is heartbreaking and emotional and will leave you a wreck. Subject to horrendous abuse by his deranged wife Julie, Dane will do everything he can to keep his son Brady safe, but what happens when Brady tries to help his dad and Julie turns on him?
We read lots of stories where women are the subject of abuse and we tend to forget that this is not a women only issue. There are men out there who are on the receiving end too. Reading Dane’s story of why he didn’t walk away and why he felt he couldn’t ask for help is totally heartbreaking.
I devoured this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down, as I was so gripped by the story. I’d give this book more than 5 stars if I could.

I enjoyed this short paranormal romance story. It is a well written story with characters that brought the story to life. There is an engaging story about Dragmir and a pretty witch packed in just a few stories. He has had a cursed placed on him so he has turned to fighting to control his rage. One night is leaving him with a choice to make – stay in his dark mood or come out into the light and let the pretty witch work her magic. They are strong characters that at times don’t realize how strong they really are. Their chemistry together is steamy and supportive to their characters. I highly recommend reading their story.

This author is one that I have become very familiar with over the past year and her work is always enjoyable. In this book we are introduced to two characters that you won’t be able to stop yourself from falling in love with.
The story is well paced. It is developed and progressed in the perfect way for what the author was trying to portray. It was easy to get into and I found myself lost in the story. This is a great book and definitely worth reading.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’ll be quite honest. I had very high hopes for Katerina Ross’ Black Cat Security. Witches and Magic and Steamyness? Give it to me now Please!! I was very very excited, especially as I started reading about Dragomir.. until I got a few pages into the book… and Dragomir was having some alone time with himself. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, we all do it, but It was his fantasy that was being described that got under my skin. Yes it didn’t go into full detail and he was even a little bit disgusted with himself for thinking such things.. but I would’ve been nice to have a heads up that that was coming. Once you got past that the story was still enjoyable and I liked it. I just personally had a hard time getting over that one particular scene, especially having gone through a situation like that more than once. It was a little bit of a trigger, which sort of put a damper and a dark cloud over the rest of the story for me. I could’ve handled it better I think had I had a little bit more of a warning. Other than that it was an interesting story packed into a small amount of pages

Oh my god I absolutely LOVED this book!! Amy McKinley is one of my favourite authors so I was really excited to read this from her and it was everything I would expect from one of her novels! It may have only been a short read but it was jam packed full of story! The action started out straight away for Cade and Nadia – the main characters and I fell in love with them both straight away! I also loved that there was a little cross over between this book and the Gray Ghost series – but even if you haven’t read those it will not matter this story is amazing as a standalone! (I wholly recommend the other series though also!) Some great twists and turns in the story meant I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through – and for a short story, as mentioned earlier, I think that the author did an amazing job of creating such an exciting read!

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3) Anthology – Review by Jenni Bishop

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3)IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

IRRESISTIBLE VALENTINE (Irresistible Romance Book 3) is an anthology of valentine romance stories by nine top authors Tamara Ferguson, Natalie Ann, Suzanne Jenkins, Cynthia Cooke, Alicia Street, Jacquie Biggar, Stacy Eaton, Susan Jean Ricci and Patrice Wilton. Each story is about unsuspecting couples that meet and fall in love some in the most unlikeliest circumstances.

Two Hearts’ Reconnaissance: Tamara Ferguson, is a wonderful story where teenagers Eve and Harry meet at Crystal Rock and grow up together but when they follow their hearts passions, they end up losing each other. Will the magic continue in the place they met? Tamara never lets me down with her stories and this one is just as good as all the others.

Cupid’s Quest: Natalie Ann, is the tale of two damaged souls from their pasts that come together through a common goal. Ruby has walls around her heart and doesn’t let anyone in easily. Josh is looking for a home he can make for his family, now he just has to convince her that they can be together. This is a captivating story and one of my favourites in this anthology.

A Little Change of Plans: Suzanne Jenkins, is a great story where Geri is new to the fire station and is driven for a career and will not let anyone stand in her way. All it took is one look and Jake was in love, now he needs to prove it to her.

All Night Long: Cynthia Cooke, is fun and had me laughing as I read about these wonderful characters. Phoebe wants to make her own way as a wedding planner and Beau just wants to keep the bar and hotel in the valley and make it his own. If only he could convince her to stay. A great story to get lost in.

Never Lovers: Alicia Street, is an emotional tale of two people torn apart by a tragedy. Now after many years apart they are forced to share accomodation when wanting to get away from their day to day life. Will true love find its way back to them? A good read.

The Player: Jacquie Biggar, is the story of Roy who made a bad decision in the female department and now it is affecting his game when this stalker won’t leave him alone. Patience who is a PR person and is hired to make Roy look good after a crazy ex tries to get him back but destroying his game in the process. What neither of them expect is the lengths she will go to and what they find with each other. I really enjoyed this story and would have loved more.

Unexpected Packages: Stacy Eaton, Lexi is mortified when a package is delivered to the wrong address and is then brought to her. What was once total annoyance turns into something more than they ever thought possible. All the feel goods came out with this one. I would actually like to see more of this couple.

First Class Flirtation: Susan Jean Ricci, Melissa is looking forward to the extra room she booked on her flight but an altercation changes things and now she is stuck with a grumpy stranger. However these two unlikely people soon learn they cannot live without each other but they may not get their happy ever after when tragedy strikes.

Serendipity Falls: Patrice Wilton, There is something in the water at this unsuspecting town in the snow, Devon doesn’t believe it and he loves his life being a one and done kind of guy but when Tara comes to town he finds she has something he can’t seem to stay away from. Cupid does love love now if only he could find it too. This is a nice and easy enjoyable read.

Black Cat Security by Katerina Ross is a little quirky and unusual and definitely original. It is a quick read, but it is full on and Katerina keeps you guessing as to what is coming. It didn’t quite hit the mark with me as I felt it was lacking something, but it was still an interesting read.

Dragomir is a beaten down man and is filled with rage he cannot contain. Being cursed and kicked out of a brotherhood that was everything means he keeps to himself and illegal fighting is all he can do to find some semblance of normal. When he meets the strange witch, he wants nothing to do with her but she may hold the key to unravel him.

King & Hunt: A Lust/Hate Story by Brienne Dubh is my first book by this author. It was a great story to get to know Brienne Dubh. This was a short hot, steamy, lust/hate story. The characters have great chemistry together. Brienne Dubh does an amazing bringing this story alive. I have always heard that there is a fine line between love/hate, but I did see a line between lust/hate for sure. Christian and Gabrella had that relationship. There was always a love/hate relationship until one day. Christian and Gabrella let their guard down and bam that is when the steamy part of the story began. There are so many questions but the main one I think is important is Will Christian and Gabrella go back to their love/hate relationship? I recommend you read this story to find this out.

Lisa: Coming Of Age (Book 1 of The Guardian Shifters) by KM Lowe – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Lisa: Coming Of Age (Guardian Shifters #1)Lisa: Coming Of Age by K.M. Lowe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A paranormal romance featuring wolf shifters based in Scotland, Lisa: Coming Of Age had plenty of action and suspense which kept me hooked from start to finish. This is the first in a new series, ‘The Guardian Shifters’ by KM Lowe and it has wet my appetite for the rest of the series.
Seventeen year old Lisa was abandoned on the steps of a hospital and has no information about her past at all. Having found a loving and stable adoptive family Lisa is content, until her world is turned upside down when her biological families secrets are discovered, and she has to accept who she really is. Turning to best friend and soul mate Marcus, Lisa ends up being part of the biggest fight of her life.
The author has written some great characters, Lisa, her parents, Marcus and Jasper are all likeable, realistic and each have their own part to play in the story. I like how the relationship between different characters change and develop, especially as Lisa learns who she is and starts to accept it. The chemistry between Lisa and Markus showed and I like how he was her constant throughout the story. There are enough twists and turns in the plot to not be a predictable read and I cared about Lisa’s fate as I felt immersed in the story. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading this book. I thought it was an enjoyable first book of a new paranormal series and I’m looking forward to reading Jasper’s story in book two soon.

Mountains Loved (Mountains Series #3) By Phoebe Alexander – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Mountains Loved (Mountains #3)Mountains Loved by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The conclusion of James’ and Sarah’s story is not without its ups and downs. The third book of their story picks up a little in the future from where the second one left off. James and Sarah are now married. Like previous books, it switches back and forth between Sarah’s POV and James’ POV. This sometimes gets a little confusing because there is no indication at the beginning of the new chapter as to who’s POV it is.
Sarah and James set out to build their family, as they talked about in previous books. This sets into motion a series of events that are full of love, heartbreak, tears, and happiness. I do not want to give anything away, as it should be experienced by the reader, but there is plenty of emotion. Like in other books, their poly relationship is explored and it adds to the drama of the story.
I have enjoyed each book in the series, and this was no exception. It was well written and feels like real-life. I felt myself drawn into their story and pulling for both of them to have their happy ever after. Some of the supporting characters played a bigger role this time…setting them up for future books (which I will definitely be checking out!).

Lisa: Coming Of Age (Guardian Shifters #1)Lisa: Coming Of Age by K.M. Lowe

I give Lisa: Coming Of Age (The Guardian Shifters Book 1) by K.M. Lowe, 4 stars.

This is a young adult paranormal romance where the main character has no idea she is anything other than human. I have to admit that I have read this type of story before. That being said, this is a wonderful addition to that genre. The characters are real and believable. I enjoyed every last one of them and cannot wait to see more of them in future books. The story itself is good too. It is fun and exciting — it pulls you into the story and you cannot wait to see what happens next.

The backbone of this story really are the well-done characters and if you are a fan of paranormal romance and/or urban fantasy, I highly recommend this book.

Nice short read, although I think this could have been longer and made into a novel, I see this story could have really taken off but I am pleased with what I got. I was sad for Dragomir having to deal with his PTSD and curse and all the rage he had built up inside. Meeting Ida I think saves his life. She is a feisty one, I like her style. She helps Dragomir with all his anger and by having him be submissive, and to his surprise it works. Again, sadly it is a shorter story, but definitely worth the read, I would recommend giving this book a try.
