Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale – Review by Dani Dando

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was an interesting read; I really loved the historical element and I thought that it was handled with consideration and respect. As romances go, I’m not usually a massive fan but this had a softness to it that I adored. Vale has an addictive way of writing that gets right to the heart and soul of people which I love.
Kendyll writes romance stories but her own relationship with her other half is far from perfect. Believing they need a new start, somewhere fresh and far from all the problems they have so getting a chance to move somewhere new seems like a dream come true, even if the house they are supposed to move to does have a sketchy past. In spite of the place being known for its Plantation history, Kendyll can’t help but feel drawn to it and once she takes on the place as her own, she starts having vivid dreams that feel too real to be her imagination. Added to all of this is her connection to the man Wes who is helping her fix up the place, she can’t help her growing feelings for him, even if they are frowned upon by her family, and of course a little dodgy considering she is already in a relationship.
I really enjoyed the journey this story took me on and thought it was a compelling and well-thought-out romance that is well thought out and worth your time. Give it a read.

5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book The Liminal Space (Antipodes Book 2) by T.S. Simons. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. The author does an amazing job of making the storyline and the characters come alive. The book is well-written, and I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. The story will make you wonder what you would do in the same situation. This is a book that I got lost in and seemed to be over too soon. I enjoyed reading about the characters and the interactions between them. This is a story that is interesting, intriguing, exciting, and entertaining. Don’t miss out on reading it. It is a book I would highly recommend.

Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale – Review by Karyn Taylor

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where Flowers Bloom: A Romantic, Modern to Historical, Mystery by Nikki Vale is a great romance story that totally drew me in from the very beginning and didn’t let go. Nikki Vale was an author that I had not read before reading Where Flowers Bloom but I would certainly read more of her work now as I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Romance novelist Kendyll moves to North Carolina to try to rekindle the romance with her fiancé Vance. When she buys a very old house it seems as if the house has it’s own story to tell. Kendyll’s very vivid dreams also seem to be telling the story of a time long ago. I have to say that I became more invested in the story of Rose and Everett than I did of the ‘love triangle’ between Kendyll, Vance and construction manager (who is also related to the homes former owner) Wesley.
This is a very well written story. The author is telling 2 stories at the same time which I can imagine must be very difficult to do. The author also does a fantastic job of tackling the issue of black slavery. I was totally engrossed with this part of the story.
Another thing I must commend the author on is the characters. This book has some absolutely amazing characters who I totally fell in love with.
This is a fantastic read which I would definitely recommend to others.

At All (The Adams Brothers Book 3) by Mindy McKinley – Review by Bailey Stiles

At All (Adams Brothers, #3)At All by Mindy McKinley
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Maelie is the daughter of a musical prodigy, her father desperately wants her to follow in his footsteps. However, her dreams are to teach. Everything is going well until she meets Seb, a famous sax player who starts teaching with her while he gets his alcohol addiction under control. They’re immediately attracted to each other.

I like both of the characters. Mae was sweet and knew what she wanted. Seb was also charming. It was a quick easy read. I didn’t read the first two but I might need to.

Where Flowers Bloom: A Romantic, Modern to Historical, Mystery by Nikki Vale – Reviewed by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Kendyll is an author who writes books about finance and managing money, but under a pen name, she writes about whirlwind romances and love, but her life has not been as easy as some think, she has an overbearing mother with strict rules, a fiancé Vance who treats her differently in public to when they are home alone and all while being insecure about the colour of her skin and how she has been brought up to believe she is less than she is, not to mention the snippets of dreams she has had all her life, but everything she knows is about to be thrown into upheaval.

Kendyll has made the hard decision to move with Vance to a new palace in North Carolina and leave her family in New York behind, as well as her friends, so she has headed there early to go house hunting, but hasn’t had any luck due to Vance’s exacting standards of what he wants, that is until she is shown a run down mansion by her realtor and as soon as she sees one particular part of it, she knows that it is the perfect house, even though it ticks none of the boxes and it used to be a plantation, but she ignores all of that and immediately buys it, it also helps that the current owner think that she is the perfect buyer as well.

As soon as the sale goes through Kendyll packs up her things and leaves the hotel in which she has been staying during the search, but runs into a rather handsome man on her way out, she feels strangely comfortable around him and cannot deny that she is attracted to him, however when she is propositioned by him, she declines and explains that she is engaged and almost sadly moves her designer luggage and belongings into her rental car and heads to the house where unbeknownst to her, her mother and sister are waiting for her, this is a surprise, but not a welcome one, she starts to regret telling her sister about the house. Her mother wastes no time in being her usual condescending self and complains about everything and anything she can find, she is more than shocked when the past owner introduces herself as the cook and this almost pleases her mother, Kendyll daren’t tell her that she is still living there, but not as a servant.

When Kendyll’s relatives have left, she talks to the realtor about getting a contractor called Wes in to start on the necessary renovations, so when he turns up a few days later to introduce himself, it turns out to be the man she saw in the hotel, but the circumstances are less than favourable and they both end up being embarrassed at the situation. After that second introduction, Kendyll finds herself drawn to the man and feels confused when Vance comes to see the house and eventually moves down there and the distance between them that was there before starts to disappear. As time passes and the work on the house continues, she is becoming closer to her realtor and now friend as well as the older lady and the only troubling thing is that the dreams are becoming longer and more detailed, as well as other strange things happening when she is alone, but her feeling of comfort with the Wes.is making life more uncomfortable as the time goes on, but will she be able to keep herself away from him, or will she end up having to make the tough decision between Vance who she knows better than anyone else and Wes who she feels a deep and strong connection to and will she ever find out why she is having these dreams and what they mean?

This is a romance with the added twist of the troubles those with differing skin tones and opinions have to endure, but with a historical aspect which is hard to deny and as the different aspects of the story are revealed, you get hooked on finding out the truth of the situation as well.

Vengeance (The Sundown Series Book 5) by Courtney Konstantin – Review by Naomi McDonald

VengeanceVengeance by Courtney Konstantin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Vengeance is the fifth book in the Sundown series. It can be read as a standalone. The author does a good job of weaving in important backstory so you don’t feel like you are missing anything.
This book has everything you’d expect in a post-apocalyptic tale, include a variation of zombies. Overall, I would say this particular story is really more about the interpersonal relationship development of the characters as they get prepared to go after an old enemy. That being said, it does have plenty of suspense and danger mixed in to keep things moving right along. There are also some emotional moments that will get you right in the feels.

I enjoyed this book by Carrie Pulkinen. I loved reading the story of how Gage and Erica found each other and their love for each other. I enjoyed Carrie Pulkinen’s take on the paranormal world. This book had love and a lot of twists and turns as Erica and Gage found that love. I enjoyed this third novel in the series and really liked how happiness was found in the end or all. I like Carrie Pulkinen’s take on the paranormal world and have enjoyed everything I have read from her.

Capturing Fate by Abbie Roads – Review by Angela Hayes

Capturing Fate (Fatal Truth, #2)Capturing Fate by Abbie Roads
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Capturing Fate is the highly anticipated second book in the Fatal Truth Series by Abbie Roads. This is a brilliant romantic suspense- with an edgy, psychological element that had me tied up in knots. It’s a gritty story that took me on quite the ride- with plenty of drama, surprising developments, danger, action, a hunt for a serial killer, mystery, and gripping suspense- which made for a wild ride.
I absolutely loved the first book- and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this second book- so to say I was thrilled when it finally arrived is an understatement. I put everything else I was reading aside- and dove in! I am happy to say that this is every bit as good as I had hoped it would be- and I devoured it in a matter of a couple of hours….. then turned around and read it again. And again, the author shows just how skilful a writer she is, in the way she is able to amp up the tension and suspense and keep it flowing the whole way through the story. She adds twists and surprising developments that had me guessing, right through to the end!
Highly recommended- especially if you like a gripping, twisty, psychological romantic suspense.

Thank you, Abbie Roads!

I love this series so so so so much!! I have read almost all of Judy Moore’s books, still a few more I need to grab but she has literally become one of my favorite authors in this genre. I know once I open a book I need time because I will not want to put it down.

This series in particular is an absolute favorite. I feel like these people have become my friends and I’m so emotionally invested in everything, the book store, the town, and especially the characters, including Coquina and whether she learns French or Spanish LOL Scratchoff is still a favorite and I’m having visions of a super fun yet unbelievable storyline for him that I think would quickly become a killer part of this series!

I love how the Devon and Beck story is going…it feels so amazingly real and is building perfectly!!

This is an awesome series. I personally do not recommend reading them as standalones if you want to become completely invested in these characters, you need them all for the full effect!

This author has a way of weaving her words into the most amazing stories that flow so perfectly and have just enough of the twists and turns to make them amazing.

Loved this addition and can not wait for more!!!!

ANGUISH (THE JOURNALS TRILOGY BOOK ONE) AUDIO BOOK by D.M. EARL – Review by Jenique Bornman

This is the review I left when I first read the book back in 2017
**********************************************************HOOKED FROM THE START.
This book held me captive from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
It’s been a while since I’ve been so emotionally invested in a book. Quinn is a brave woman and the traumatic event that she went thru still gives me nightmares.
The way D.M. Earl paints the picture of that event with her words made me feel like I was there like Stone watching in horror.
Stone is the perfect protector. But I must say I started out not really liking him because I felt he could have done more to help Quinn. But in the end I fell in love with his character aswell.

I also love the fact that this book is written from Quinn and Stone’s point of view. Nice to get both of there perspectives.

This is not for the faint hearted. But I would read it again and again and again.
**********************************************************

So when I saw that it was available on audiobook I just HAD to get it.
What a completely different experience it is to hear this AMAZING book come to life in audio. Nya Simpson did an superb job with the narration.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the Haunted Ever After series and it is another great book. I love the mix of romance and paranormal. The characters are really well written and easy to feel a connection with.

Erica is a psychic medium who has taken over her old teachers theatre after she dies. The business is in trouble so Erica is working hard to put it on track. She had plenty of experience with spirits however when this spirit in her theatre starts to become more of a poltergeist then she knows she needs help.

Gage is the man for the job. He also had experience dealing with spirits and also helping them to cross over so when Erica  asks for his help he accepts.

When emotions return Gage realises he’s never gotten over his one true love in Erica. Will she return his feelings? After all this time will they come together? Or will the spirits have other plans for them?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! What a great sequel! Bound by Secrets is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops Series by Amy McKinley. The first book was really good and this one was even better! On the beautiful island of Oahu, Kayla Kane is running from an ex-boyfriend. Not exactly what she wants to be doing. Jaxon Hale is Kayla’s brother’s best-friend. They happen to run into each other when she returns to Honolulu. Jaxon is retired Navy and is now working at the local police department. When Jaxon finds out about how abusive the ex-boyfriend was, she became someone Jaxon is going to protect. I loved these two together. They really did have great chemistry. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book. One’s that I didn’t even see coming. But, I am truly impressed with this author! It was definitely a page turner from the moment that I started to read the book. I can’t wait for the next book in the series! Sign me up please!

The Traveler: Chimera Rising (The Book of Eleanor 3) by Shannon Nemechek was a good 4 star read.

We start where book 2 left off, Katie and Colm are in 1692 Scotland working on a mission. There is so much that goes on,you will fly through the pages.

Will they fulfill their mission?

We get so much in this read magic, danger, mystery and so much more. We get several twists and turns that will throw you off. The secondary characters added a great element to the story as well. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. I highly suggest reading the first two books in the series before this one. 1-click and get started today.

Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After #2)Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Trent ascended the stairs, stepping lightly on the creaky wood panels to avoid putting a foot through the floor. He slid the key into the lock and twisted the knob. The hinges creaked as the door swung open, the knob pulling from his hand as if someone on the other side yanked it from his grasp…..
He peered inside. Hollow darkness greeted him. Haunting. A shiver ran down his spine, and it wasn’t from the chilling winter air whispering through the trees. The whole scene creeped him out.”

Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance is the second book in the Haunted Ever After series by Carrie Pulkinen. This is a superb paranormal romance- with ghosts, paranormal + supernatural elements, danger, mystery, tension, wonderful characters, chemistry, and a whole lot of sizzle.
Trent Austin, whom we met in book one- being the best friend of Logan, has just inherited a dilapidated estate from his recently deceased Uncle. The old Victorian mansion certainly has a creepy, menacing vibe- and Trent couldn’t wait to get rid of it.
Tina Saunders, whom we also met in book one- being the best friend of Allison, is the best realtor in the area- and is who Trent calls to help off load his Uncle’s estate. These two have some recent history- so the spark between them doesn’t take much to reignite. Add threats, sinister and creepy vibes, danger, drama- and a whole lot of steam… and this story just wouldn’t let me put it down.
This story could be read as a standalone, as each book in the series focuses on a different couple. But having said that, I really recommend reading the three books together, as there are recurring characters to meet- as well as fantastic storylines that you would miss out on otherwise.
As I have mentioned many, many times previously- I have developed a severe addiction to Ms. Pulkinen’s stories- but it’s an addiction that I am more than happy to indulge- so, no rehab needed!
Highly recommended for all paranormal romance lovers!

Thank you, Carrie Pulkinen!

It definitely makes you ask yourself if you could start over would you? My answer would be heck no I’ve worked to hard to get where I am. I’ve learned from past mistakes and pushed myself right on past. This is a story about Cam and the journey he goes on as he finds out what family means. It really makes you think about If you were given a chance to start over would you do it and make different choices? I highly recommend reading this book. Its not my favorite genre but this author has taken me on a journey where I feel like I have been to Scotland and its so great! I highly recommend reading these books in order. Its the continuing story of Katie and Colm in Scotland at the end of the great Revolution. They are still coming against the same enemies and being asked to try to save someone but is saving that person putting them at risk of changing their futures and if so is it worth it? There is danger, intrigue, magic, amid secrets being revealed. Colm is given a very big choice, will he pick the right one? This book picks right up where the cliff hanger of an ending left us in book 2 so buckle up and enjoy the ride. Its a wild and fast paced adventure!

The Traveler: Chimera Rising (Book Three of the Book of Eleanor series) by Shannon Nemechek was a really good book! This series has become a favorite for me. Not only with the history aspect, but also with the romance, and magic that’s involved throughout. My only complaint I have with this series as a whole is that I wish the books were released sooner, because I always forget what happened in the previous installment, and it confuses when I read the newest novel in the series. But the characters are great, and storylines are always amazing, and this one was no exception. I can’t wait to read the next installment!

When the Revolution focuses on both Katie and Colm sacrificing their love, this book has them transported back to 6th century where they have a mission to accomplish. But Colm has to make a few choices, and his choices determine the fate of the mission.
As the previous book, this book is also filled with danger, deception, romance and mystery. Katie and Colm have already been through a lot in the previous books, so you do feel connected to those characters and want them to succeed.
Overall, another roller-coaster and an enjoyable read.

This was an excellent read. I had a hard time putting this book down once I got started. This story has romance, rock, friendship, forgiveness, and so much more. I was taken on an emotional ride with this read. Ellie, Drew and Jason all have their own issues to work through, but can their relationships survive it all? Drew and Jason are brothers and are in a band but there is much more to their relationship and Ellie finds herself in the middle since she’s their oldest friend. I found this story line took a little bit of a different turn then I expected and it pulled at my heartstrings at different times throughout. This author did an excellent job bringing me into the story so I became invested in the characters. This is a must read, I highly recommend this book.

The Traveler: Chimera Rising (The Book of Eleanor 3) by Shannon Nemechek

This is the second book I’ve read by Nemechek. Shannon knows how to bring her readers back. I absolutely love this book and can’t wait for more.

Morgana is dying and there isn’t anything anyone can do. Merlin doesn’t want her to die so something happens. Her kids don’t want to lose her and things go down. The quote I chose for Morgana is: “I’m glad you are here, my son. I want so badly for you and your father to make amends. You children will be all he has once I have passed. Please, my dear son…Please try to forgive your father. He has only thought of what is best for you and your sister. He loves you both so. Please try…”

Merlin is a knight and is serving under the king. After losing his wife things don’t go the way he planned. Going back and forth between time. The quote I chose for Merlin is: “My king, you have been enchanted. You must lock yourself away until I can return. It is imperative that you stay away from everyone. Will you do that, sire?”

Highly recommended for Fantasy lovers.

Lily, Rose, and Poppy each find themselves a job at Thorn Hall manor. Lily begins running the household, Rose works to reclaim the overgrown garden, and Poppy searches out books of magic while working as the “Beast’s” secretary. I loved hearing about the magic that has overtaken Thorn Hall and how the sisters have helped to save the hall, the beast, and others who were affected by the fairy curse. The sisters and other characters in this story make it so much fun to read!

Nobody Knows: A British Rock Band Romance (Razes Hell #1) by Kyra Lennon

This is the first book I’ve read by Lennon but it will not be my last. I think I’ve found a new book boyfriend in Drew. Lennon knows how to capture a reader’s attention.

Ellie is not used to being in the spotlight. When she finds herself falling for her friend she isn’t sure what to think. Jason and Drew have been her friends for several years. She isn’t sure what to think about everything happening. The quote I chose for Ellie is: “Mack, do me a favour and put Jason in a cab. And call Derek, he needs to know about this. Drew, come with me.”

Drew the drummer and songwriter for Razes Hell. He doesn’t know when his feelings have changed for his best friend. He doesn’t want to be second best anymore and it scares him. The quote I chose for Drew is: “Because he’s Jason. He’s so busy trying to do what he thinks is best for the band, he doesn’t think about anyone else. He’s a selfish p**ck.”

Highly recommended for contemporary romance lovers.

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2)Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kayla has returned home after fleeing the abusive relationship she found herself in. Imagine her surprise to find out that her parents are selling their home to buy a condo…from the man she had a crush on when she was younger.
When Jaxon runs into Kayla at a coffee shop, he wants to know more about her life and, more importantly, more about the bruises around her neck. He still has feelings for Kayla, but knows that they must clear the air regarding their pasts before they can have a future.
When a former co-worker, and former ex of her ex, is found dead…Kayla fears that she could be next. A grim warning from the spirit of her brother really makes her start to worry. Add in Jaxon’s missing brother and there is a lot going on in this story.
I found myself rooting for Jaxon and Kayla. You could feel their love for each other from the beginning. There were definitely some big secrets that they kept from each other…but watching how they dealt with them had me even more engrossed in the story. Overall, a good story that I was able to finish in one sitting.

Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After #2)Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After Book 2) by Carrie Pulkinen, 5 stars.

If you have read book one in the series, you are familiar with both of these characters. I was really excited when I saw that this book was about them. I was not disappointed either. We learn so much more about them, what led them to be who they are today. We also see who they really are now dealing with the house and the supernatural attached to it. They are just great, real people and makes this book what it is.

But let us not forget the story itself. Going by the name of the series, there are ghosts involved. The house Trent inherits is right out of a horror movie, but one I myself would love fix up and live in. I could imagine myself right there in it. The bad vibes they feel in house, the things happening to them, again, remind me of a horror movie, but in the best way. I would not say this is a horror book, but what is and has happened is both eerie and heartbreaking.

If you are a fan of Paranormal Romance with a good dose of suspense, this book is for you. It can be read as a stand alone book, but I recommend the whole series.

Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance (Haunted Ever After #2)Second Chance Spirit: A Ghostly Paranormal Romance by Carrie Pulkinen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A fun and ghostly paranormal romance with a second chance at love twist. Having been introduced to Trent and Tina at the end of the first book in Pulkinen‘s ‘Haunted Ever After’ series I was looking forward to reading their story. Although the characters do crossover this can be read as a standalone story but I would recommend reading ‘Love at First Haunt’ as well. Big city successful lawyer Trent Austin inherits his uncles Victorian mansion in the suburbs, it’s just a shame it’s rundown and comes with ghosts. Desperate to sell the house he calls Tina Sanders, the best real estate agent in Michigan and also his ex girlfriend who dumped him. Tina ended her relationship with Trent due to her fear of commitment but as soon as she sees him again she realises that the chemistry is still there. The situation becomes more complicated as not only is Trent trying to rekindle things with Tina but he is soon fighting for his life as something in the house wants him dead. This is a good mix of romance, comedy and mystery with a ghostly twist and I was hooked from page one. I loved the main characters and the chemistry between Tina and Trent really came across in the narrative and their mutual attraction led to some rather hot and steamy scenes. An enjoyable and engaging read, I look forward to book three in the series.

The Traveler: Chimera Rising (The Traveler Series, Book of Eleanor Book 3) by Shannon Nemechek – Review by Jennifer Gordon

The Traveler: Chimera Rising (The Book of Eleanor 3)The Traveler: Chimera Rising by Shannon Nemechek
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in this series I was looking forward to reading this latest novel and I was not disappointed. Enjoyable and engaging from start to finish, I was hooked from page one and loved being back with time travellers Katie and Colm. ‘Chimera Rising’ continues Katie and Colm’s story and this time they journey from 1692 to the sixth century having been rescued by Merlin. Here they are involved in a battle between good and evil and they have to prevent magic from falling into the wrong hands. I would recommend that the novels are read in order as they do follow on and the background story of the ancient curse which has been plaguing the Stewart witches for centuries and which only the last Stewart witch, according to prophecy can break also runs through the series. In this third book of ‘The Traveler Series’ the entire prophecy is at last revealed and the Avalon relics must be recovered before The Lady of the Lake can find them. This is a shorter book than the previous two but it is just as action packed and is a real page turner. The descriptive narrative really brings both the characters and the setting to life which made me feel immersed in the story.

So this is book 2 in the haunted ever after series and let me tell you it didn’t disappoint I really liked Tina and Trent’s characters. I really enjoyed the sexual tension between these two and I loved that we had a believable history between them. It made me chuckle a few times and overall I am loving Carrie’s books. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven #2) by AJ Renee-Review by Amanda Kimble

Cursed Sight (Broderick Coven Book 2) by AJ Renee

This is the second book I’ve read by Renee and I can’t wait for more. Cursed Sight is an amazing read and it will leave you wanting more. If you haven’t checked Renee out then you should.

Serena is a high priestess and has been missing Ethan. She doesn’t need a man nor does she want one. When cleansing Ethan she finds herself being cleansed as well. She learns something, but keeps it to herself. The quote I chose for Serena is: “Depends on your definition. Just because I’ve never encountered it, doesn’t necessarily make it a rare occurrence. For all my lecturing you to cleanse, I’ve obviously been neglecting my own to warrant this level of cleaning.”

Ethan thought he’d lose his sister when she became in danger. He wants to contact Serena, but doesn’t know if it’s welcomed. He sends a text when he gets back to town, but doesn’t realize that he never pressed send. The quote I chose for Ethan is: “Because I’m good looking and you’re in desperate need for an oracle.”

Highly recommended for Paranormal lovers.
