What a brilliant follow up to Book 1. This book picks up straight after the first and it felt like a seamless transition from the author. Even though I didn’t read this book immediately the story didn’t lose any momentum.
The story still felt original and exciting to read. It felt like the book was really developing all the way through. It was so easy to connect with. This really is a fantastic book and I cannot wait for whatever it next.

Divine Vintage by Sandra L. Young – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Divine VintageDivine Vintage by Sandra L. Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Tess Burton is a woman with a dream, a dream of owning her own vintage clothing store and spreading the passion and love she has for it with the world and her dream has finally come true and she has called her boutique Divine Vintage. On her opening day, her first customer is someone who is having an event to showcase an important event in which a set of clothing pieces are going to be modelled for the public and the person organising it invites Tess to model one of the gowns, of course she says yes and agrees wholeheartedly.

On the day of the show, Tess heads to the house and is given a beautiful gown from an Edwardian era trousseau, she is also partnered with a very handsome man wearing a tuxedo which fits him like a glove, Trey Dunmore, together they walk the catwalk, however, as they come to the end Tess is overcome by a vision and collapses into Trey’s arms. As he takes her somewhere to recover, he is astounded to find that when she wakes up, she makes a shocking exclamation and it relates to his family history and the event which taints it, a century old murder in which a bridegroom kills his bride, but her description of her vision through the eyes of the murdered bride unnerves his sceptical nature and he refuses to believe what she saw.

As the days pass and Trey has had time to process his feelings around Tess and the vision she had, he decides to go along with the exploration of his family’s past as he wants to clear the black mark, but while he remains sceptical, Tess uses more clothing and a diary to aid in the discoveries, including a growing list of suspects, he cannot deny that there is an attraction to Tess there, but he is also worried that the images of the past are influencing their present growing intimacy. This is a murder mystery where history is viewed through modern day eyes, as the events leading up to the murder are revealed, they see that romance was as thorny then as it is now, but will the past railroad the present, or will peace and happiness be found by all involved?

So Right (Love Grows Series Book 5) by Renee Regent – Review by Karyn Taylor

So Right (Love Grows, Book 5)So Right by Renee Regent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fifth book in a fantastic series that I have loved so far. I’m pretty sure that I have given the previous 4 books a five star rating and this one is the same. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone. The main characters from the previous books do make a brief appearance in this book but apart from it being nice to see them again, you are not missing any information needed to enjoy this book.
This book is a ‘fake fiance’ trope and also an office romance. Amara Gabriel is asked by her boss to play fake fiancé with colleague Petro Mikalos to visit a hotel that their company wants to buy to do an investigation. I’m a major sucker for a fake romance novel and this is a fantastic example of one.
Petro has fantasized about Amara since he started working at the company but she’s 10 years his senior and he thinks he has no chance of her liking him. The more time Amara spends with Petro, the more she likes him. She admires his work ethic and he’s pretty hot too.
I loved reading about Amara and Petro. I really liked both characters and found them very easy to read about and the storyline is very entertaining which keeps you engrossed in the story.
I really hope that the author continues with this series as I’ve loved all five books so far.

4 out of 5 Stars

If you can’t get the feels reading this story, then why are you reading romance? This author creates characters that feel real. They are not perfect. They are not billionaires. They are wonderful everyday people just trying to make it. Amara and Petro are no different. Each have their flaws. But, together, they are flawless.

Amara can’t see Petro as a partner in the beginning, despite her crush, due to the age difference. Petro also has a crush on Amara, but thinks she is out of her league. When they are thrown together for a work project where they pretend to be a couple, they discover so much about each other. Will they be willing to cross the lines to give a relationship a try? Will each’s past derail their future? Can Amara see past the age difference?

This is my first in the series but I am willing to spend a weekend catching up!! I love these characters and how human they seem. Amazing storytelling!!!

A truly delightful and engaging read, Divine Vintage is bound to keep you wanting more. The world-building between centuries was executed perfectly and brought to life the stories found in each time. The description of the clothing is stunning and the anticipation for the next item, knowing what happens when the pieces are handled, keeps you on your toes. On top of the mystery-packed past storyline, there is a budding romance in the present. This is a book that can be enjoyed by multiple audiences. Overall, a great read!

I’m blown away by Mr. Talisman’s ability to create a world and characters that are out of this world. (Pun intended) hehe. The name of the book says it all. You will be taken on a JOURNEY, THROUGH TIMESPACE with these wonderfully unique and exciting characters. You have to read all of it to completely understand the complexity of this magical world that James has created. And now you can with the 3 books in one collection!!!

Cate Silver has a secret. 20 years ago she killed a man, but no one knew the truth. No one except her best friend Patti Thomas. Now with the case reopened, Cate is feeling the pressure of her secret and afraid of losing everything, thinks she needs to tell the truth.

Patti left at the end of the summer that year and had barely looked back. Now with Cate struggling to keep it quiet, Patti has decided that she needs to go home and help Cate.

Back in Vermont, the truth of that night threaten the friendship between two girls, now women, as evidence surfaces. Can they make it out the other side of this case?

Depending on You was a quick, entertaining read. It was very well written and you can definitely see the connection between the two friends almost immediately. This book has friendship, twists, lies, secrets, and murder. It makes you think about the friendships you have and the distance you’d be willing to go to protect the ones you love.

I think the most terrifying part about this book is the ability that situations like this can, and do, happen. I definitely recommend this book and to think through what you would do in varying situations because you never know what could happen.

Besides, what do you do when someone is depending on you?

The Ghastly GumballThe Ghastly Gumball by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fun, lighthearted paranormal romance which had me hooked from start to finish. As usual the author brought both the characters and setting to life through her descriptive narrative, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved all the characters as each one is so unique, especially the cigar-smoking octopus named Clyde! Each one brings something different to the story, but the main characters, Lockwood and Rex where particular likeable. The chemistry between them really came across and I was hoping they would get a HEA. The storyline as ever was intriguing and gripped me from page one. The plot has everything from magic, mayhem, humour, chaos, fated mates, meddling, shifters, and of course, plenty of romance and drama, what’s not to like!

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book starts off with the knowledge that one of the main characters murdered someone but we don’t know who, how, or why. I was immediately hooked by the synopsis but the first two chapters I honestly hated and thought I would end up hating this book but man was I wrong. This book is really about the friendship of two women Cate and Patti and it flips back from the present-day to the year of the murder as we learn about the girls friendship, their personal lives and the night that lead to the murder. The two best friends once attached at the hip separated as most friendships do with time and distance but the one thing bringing them together again could also be the thing that tears them apart. This book is full of twists and secrets and honestly really had me hooked after the first 20%. There was a lot of love, heartache, sacrifice, secrets, and true genuine once-in-lifetime relationships. This was absolutely worth the read and I’m so glad I stuck with it because the ending was crazy.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So, this is the fifth book in the amazing Love Grows Series, and it was exactly what I needed. This series is great if you haven’t read it, but I will say this wasn’t my absolute favorite so far. That would belong to book three. However, it was just as good. I never hesitate to read this series of books. While they can be read in order, it’s not required, and you can choose to read as a stand-alone book also. Although, I don’t recommend that just because I think she is such a wonderful writer and her romance writing skills are spot on. I always say that I want the kind of romance she writes about. This book is filled with that romance, a few twists and turns along the way, and some major excitement. If you are into a lot of sizzling romance, this is a book for you.

This is book one in the War of Destiny series. I was really captivated by this book. It was such a fast paced, gripping story that I read it in 24 hours. I just didn’t want to put it down. The author does an amazing job with the characters and you are transported back to a time when arrange marriages was a thing and people often lived unhappy abusive lives.

Julia is a 15 year old girl. She thinks her life is great and she falls for her childhood friend. However this love isn’t going meant to be as her farther think Adam is below them and refuses to let Julia marry him.
Hoping to destroy this budding romance Julia is then placed into an arranged marriage with Gergory. What follows is a story that breaks your heart as Julia is forced to deal with grief, heartbreak over not being with the man she loves and abuse at the hands of her husband
She feels like there is no way out.
That is until one man offers her it all, a chance to be with the love of her life, freedom from her abusive husband, everything she has dreamed off. However as with most things there is a catch and this catch will change Julia’s life forever.

This story is a great mixture of historical story and paranormal vampire aspect. I can’t wait to see where the story leads.

Helm of Awe (Anchoress Series #3)Helm of Awe by D.L. Armillei

I really enjoyed this book! I was able to fall in love with some characters and my disdain for others grew, a perfect balance for a book in my opinion. Their growth and development from the previous two books is great.

After losing the Jaychund Games, Van finds herself and her friends on a mission in Balish territory. Not her ideal placement for the summer unless you consider Van’s would-be boyfriend is the Balish Crown Prince. She and her group must figure out the mystery of the third seal and return home. Not an easy task when trouble seems to lurk around every corner!

So much action and adventure to this book. I look forward to future installments.

She’s brave and overcomes all the struggles that life and the weeping woman sends her way. I really hope there is a sequel in the future. It doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but I would like to see Mercy’s future.

I’m completely blown away by these wonderfully written stories, both prequels for my favorite series The Logan McKenna Mystery Series. Both of these stories pulled me in from the beginning and I literally blocked put the outside world. I was so drawn to the characters and the story that went along with them. This author is one of my favorites and every book is my favorite. The first story we read about Logan’s great grandmother and about a violin that gets passed down several generations. My emotions were all over the place with this one. Loved it. The second is a short story that places us right before Logan’s world is shattered and its fast paced and just hard to put down as the first story. I highly recommend reading this book it’s definitely worth the time I can’t wait to see what this author brings us next.

Dr Scott Carruthers is overworked and needing some help in the local hospital in Waratah but when Dr Franceen Lewis arrives to help and carry some of the load all his rules are starting to go out of the window.

Dr Franceen Lewis is wanting to escape the divorce and tragedy that has happened in her life in the big city, moving to the small local hospital will help her refocus on her career which out the distraction of her Ex, but as she meets Scott, she cannot deny the instant spark that happens between them, but she has sworn off men for the time being.

Can Scott break through the walls that Franceen has built, and can he break his own rules regarding work colleagues’ romances, you will have to read to find out.

This is the third story in the series and finally tells the story of Scott one of the Carruthers twins, you have seen glimpses of him through the first two books but at last he is here, and this story does not disappoint. The chemistry between the main characters is brilliantly written. The character of Scott has always intrigued me and finally we see into his life and the pressures he is under with running the hospital.

Franceen’s character shows warmth and empathy to her patients and with her history she is more determined to go above and beyond. The true character is seen in this book and when they finally decide to make the most of the relationship it is brilliantly draft and a pleasure to read.

I can’t wait to read the next instalment in this wonderful series.

Doctor D’s Orderly Affair (Doctors of Eastport General) by C.A. King – Review by Angela Shirley

Doctor D's Orderly AffairDoctor D’s Orderly Affair by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Stars 3.5
Dr D is a guy who has had his fair share of bad luck in the world of dating especially a co-worker, so his rules are simple, no work colleagues and one night only, everyone knows within the hospital and his reputation is of urban myths territory, but he only wants to do his job. So, when he runs into an orderly that seems to pique his interest, will it become messy?

Emily is going about her job, new to the hospital and has heard the gossip about Dr D, although her colleagues are discussing this man every five minutes, she is under the impression that this man is urban myth too good to be true, that is until she meets him in the flesh and starts to have feelings for him. Although she knows he is a one night only deal can she keep her feelings in check, you will have to read to find out.

This is a novella with a great pace and fits a lot into such a short story, but I have to say there may be a little too much to be able to concentrate on the story and the characters. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the whole flow of the story, I just think having two main storylines within a novella just did not work for me. I think the author should have just stuck to the one and then the overall book in my opinion would have read easier.

That said I did thoroughly enjoy the writing and the style of the story, and the secondary characters added depth to the book. I was at the end dying to know what happened to this relationship and hoping there is more to the story than written. All in all, I can’t wait to read more from this wonderful author.

Lingering Spirits (Soul Connection, #4)Lingering Spirits by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in the Soul Connection series and this series just keeps getting better with every book. The author does an amazing job of making the paranormal and paranormal experiences believable and at times relatable. The characters are well written and engaging and I love how their personalities jump off the page. I would recommend reading the books in order as we do see characters in this story from previous books however it doesn’t deter from this story if this is the first book you read.

This story is about Russ and Hope. Hope has the ability to connect to people using telepathy. Using this skill she is able to help people solve their problems. However when she connects with Russ not only cant she connect with him telepathically by she can also see the world through his eyes.
Russ gets a fright and starts to think he is going mad when he hears this womans voice in his head. He gets frustrated over the fact that she has access to him however he knows nothing about her.

While they are trying to find the reason for their connection a relationship grows and once Russ and Hope figure out the reason Russ will stop at nothing to safe Hope like she had saved him before.

This story is heartwarming and full of twists and turns which will keep you guessing to the end. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters and their story.

4.5 Stars

Ok, I admit that the author had me at vampires, but I wasn’t prepared for what lay between the interesting, yet somewhat unassuming cover- in a great way. The story took me on a wild emotional ride- and as the first book that I have read from this author, it certainly left me with a taste for more of her work. So, I am happy that there is a series here that I can really sink my teeth into.
Lost Soul (War of Destiny Book #1) by Theresa Van Spankeren has all the ingredients needed to keep you enthralled; star-crossed lovers, vampires, an arranged marriage, wonderful atmospheric world building, impending war, a quest for freedom, politics, agendas, dramatic developments, intrigue, interesting characters, and more.
I don’t want to spoil anything by revealing too much, as the blurb does a great job of giving you a taste of what to expect without giving too much away. I think this is one of those stories that you should dive into a little ‘blind’ and let the author and the story surprise you.
If you love an original take on a vampire story, the paranormal, emotion, and intrigue- then this is definitely a book you will want to get your hands on asap.
Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Happy reading!

Thank you, Theresa Van Spankeren!
