The Scottish Play (Polyam Fam Series) by Phoebe Alexander. I loved this book. I love this author so I wasn’t surprised. Its the story of Molly Rose who is living with her girlfriend, Poe, and has written a play for her grad project she is to put a production of this play on. When Poe finds the perfect guy to play the Scotsman she is excited. Only problem is he doesn’t know anything about acting. He looks the part, he is super excited and he likes Molly Rose. Molly Rose has had a bad experience with men but she thinks Lachlan is so handsome and his accent is to die for. Lachlan is the maintenance man in Molly & Poe’s building. When they teach him about the Polycule life he thinks it will work while the play in ongoing and be done when the play is. The only problem is he might be catching feelings for Molly Rose. Read this fun poly romance to find out!

This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. This story was a captivating read about a 200 year old pirate returning to his home of New Orleans to break a curse. The author does an amazing job of mixing past with present day and I loved the character of Jean Lafitte. He was a typical pirate captain but I loved how amazed he was about everything that has changed and things he didn’t know about such as TV’s and phones.
This is a paranormal mystery involving pirates, a cure, missing jewels and a 200 yearnold curse that needs to be broken to free Jean and his crew from the purgatory they have found themselves in.
However Jean needs one thing to help him recover and return the jewels and break the spell the Named One, Juliet.
Juliet has had a rough time after losing her job she finds herself tending a bar. When Jean walks in she assumes he is another party goer who’s had one too many and when she hears his story she is even more convinced he is mad. When Jean asks for her help she reluctantly agrees. If for no other reason than it will entertain her for a couple of weeks.
And so the adventure and race against time begins. Will they find where the voodoo woman hid the jewels? Will they be able to return them to the island and break the spell in time? And what will happen if the curse is lifted?
This was a fun action packed paranormal adventure with spirits of the past as well as characters of the present. I really enjoyed it.

I’m a fan of R.L. Dunn so when I saw an opportunity to pick this book up, I couldn’t pass on it. I thought it might be a general romance novel, which it is a romantic novel, but oh so much more! I also love medical themed books and this one did not disappoint. Many would be possibly turned off by the use of big medical terms but not this girl! I dove right in!

My initial first impression of the first few chapters is that it was a cheesy romance novel. The terms of endearment used between Tim and Willow were a bit over the top in my opinion. I almost spit out my drink a couple of times at the cheesiness of it all. However, the story took a quick turn from strictly romantic to being full of suspense. I couldn’t read it fast enough to know all the twists and turns. There were quite a few plot twists, which engaged me even further into the book. A couple I saw coming but not all of them.

I have not read the previous 5 books in this series. This can be read as a standalone. However, I’m very intrigued by this Chase Care organization, as well as being a fan of this author, so I’ll be going back and reading the other books in this series.

If you love a psychologically twisted plot full of medical procedures and jargon, this one will not disappoint!

Out of Bounds is a sporty romance and the second sexy book in the NA Game Time sports series. I appreciate a good romance story with some sports involved and this book delivered!
Tam writes the story in multiple POV’s making the story that much more interesting because you feel like get to live through the characters and their inner most thoughts and feelings. Tam really went above and beyond with the detail that was used, especially with the banter and thoughts.
There are all kinds of emotions, humor, drama, love and so much more that made this story a hot, intense tale. Bax is a person who knows what he wants, and he wants Piper, and Piper is just interested in a one-night stand. Bax goes with it, because he doesn’t want to scare Piper away, but if only Piper knew what was in store for her! Piper is done with romance and even though she feels something about Bax, she can’t let it become anything more than a one-night stand.
Who wins this battle? Does Bax make it to the endzone and score a touchdown or does Piper intercept the ball and take the play into her own hands? There’s only one way to find out and that is to pick up a copy and read for yourself!

Dancing Butterfly is the second book in the Butterflies Fly Free Series by Debra Parmley. This was the first book I have read in this series and by this author, and I was pretty impressed! I liked that I could read this book as a standalone and not be completely lost about what was going on in the series. This book gave all of the feels of the Roaring 20’s and it was pretty entertaining! The language, flappers, and all of the glam you imagine with the Roaring 20’s was included in creating the storyline. In this part of the series, we learn about this life of Suki and her time with Frank, who happens to be one of Al Capone’s right-hand men. Suki finds herself in a whirlwind romance with Frank, and she isn’t too sure what is going to come from that relationship. As the story goes on, we are given quite the insight from Suki’s point of view and what it is like to be a flapper dancer in a club. She finds herself swept away by Frank who happened to save her life after she has an accident at the club and is able to escape a shooting. Frank basically claims Suki as his woman and makes sure that he is taking care of all of her needs while she recovers from her accident. Suki finds herself in unfamiliar territory because she is not accustomed to someone taking care of her the way that Frank is. This was an excellent and pretty quick read, that gives the reader a look into what life must have been like when a gangster and flapper fall for each other. There was a fair share of danger and love at every turn. I truly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to going back to read the first book of the story and I hope that there are more books to come in this series!

The City of the Dead in all its mystery. This is the first book I have read by the talented Mary Walsh and honestly the cover drew me in immediately followed but the synopsis. Having finally been to New Orleans for the first time for St. Patrick’s Day in March 2023, I have loved finding books that are based there. The perspective in this book is unique as it is dual perspective but not rigid. Sometimes paragraph to paragraph is from the others point of view and sometimes an entire chapter is primarily one or the other.
Jean Lafitte, and his crew visited Isla Mujeres, warned of the curses to anyone that removes anything from the island. After a treacherously long journey to New Orleans, they discover the cause of so many ailments, a gunner took six jewels from the island, two each of rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. Upon realizing they handled the man and looked to the Voodoo Queen herself, Marie Laveau for help on how to remove the curse. Unfortunately, she double crossed Captain Jean Lafitte and banished himself and his crew to their ship. Only she forgot her notes that revealed on the two-hundredth October new moon to rise over New Orleans the captain alone could leave the ship to find the jewels and remove the curse. Juliet Vance is a baker that is down on her luck and needed work she found a job at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar. On the night of the new moon, she comes face to face with Jean Lafitte but only passes him off as another drunk. Only the next day everything changes she comes to feel safe with him and wants to help him in his quest to remove the curse. Nothing could have prepared her for what she faced next. Jean could see the ghosts of the French Quarter, everywhere they went but when he touched her, she could suddenly see them too.
Will Jean find the jewels in time to free them all? How will Juliet handle the ghostly side of the city she adopted eight years earlier? What will happen if they fail? Some of the funniest parts are Jean Lafitte learning about modern things, and his first shower honestly gold. Not to mention his first time trying on a pair of jeans. Everything about this book immerses the reader. Honestly if you have been to New Orleans, you will easily picture the places in your mind, taste the drinks mentioned throughout the book. I personally have been to Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar, and it truly is just as it is described in the book. From the candles in jars on the tables to the stone furnace in the middle of the room. You can feel the history in the place. New Orleans is truly like no other place in the world, or at least the United States. The moment I left I wanted to return, and this book made me miss it more.

This was a very interesting read. As the author states in their review, it is beefy. The complexity of the story actually helps keep it pulled together. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to stay with it but the more I got into the story, the more the characters pulled me. The details and the characters wove this story together in a way that is intriguing and kind of fascinating. By the time I was finished, I found that I had actually kind of enjoyed the book. Well done for a debut novel.

I have loved this series from the start. Having worked in the healthcare field for over 20 years, this series never fails to suck me in with the drama, suspense, romance, and action that can be found within the story. This story did not disappoint me. Tim and Willow’s story will take you on an emotional ride. These two met on an assignment in Maine and they decide to take a chance on a relationship. We all know how life can go. Toss in working for Chase Care and you have a combination ready to combust. There are a couple little subplots but they all tie back in together. I found myself tearing up, smiling, getting mad and running the whole gamut. These two and the Chase Care/Chase Security gang come together in a time of crisis to support and figure out what’s going on. I absolutely loved the writing. The characters are so wonderfully developed. The best part is that the author pulled in the gang from all the books. We had visits from Hunter, Flynn, Troy, Pete and others. It’s a fantastic story that will have you on the edge-of-your-seat. It can be read as a standalone. I recommend that you read the others, it gives you some knowledge into the other characters.

I have read a few of these authors’ books to my niece and she absolutely loves them. We love how the story is told and pictures fit the story perfectly. This is book four to the series of grandmas’ closet. I love how she takes you on a journey and you learn from it as well. It keeps the kids engaged as well. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Carrie loves going through her grandmother’s closet. There are always some cool things inside. In this story Carrie gets a delivery and she goes and gets one of her grandmother’s boxes. She finds some sticks and she thinks it’s for a treasure hunt. Carrie goes on hunt for some treasure but will she find?

The Scottish Play is the first book in a new series, Polyam Fam, by Phoebe Alexander. This book is contemporary romance- a romcom with plenty of fun, spice, a poly relationship, adventure, angst, drama, emotion, surprises, friendship, family, connections, mystery, and more.
The characters were really well-developed individuals who continued to develop and grow over the course of the story. They were interesting and likeable, and their dynamics were fun and really added an extra element of interest to the whole story.
If you aren’t familiar with poly relationships, and not sure if that is something you would be interested in, don’t let that element put you off reading this really great story. If you go into it with an open mind you will be surprised by what you find, and there is so much more to the story than the ‘poly’ and erotic elements. There is definitely depth and substance here.
This is really well written story, and again, Ms. Alexander has produced an enticing, entertaining and poly-positive story that drew me in right from the beginning. Another great read from this talented author!

This book was such a good one. This is fifth book in this series and can be read as a standalone, But i would read this whole series to get the best reading experience.
This author’s writing style is awesome. I get fully pulled into the story and i enjoy the stories a lot. The main characters in this are James and Sarah. They go into their roommate situation not expecting much, but their circumstances ends up being much more complicated than they thought. I loved them as MC’s and i was rooting for a HEA for them because i liked them from the start.
I am looking forward to more by this author in the future!

This was a good 4 star historical romance. I really enjoyed these two, I was pulled right into their story. Paydon struggles with PTSD and when he meets Clarice she is exactly what he needs. I really liked Clarice she was a strong character and seemed to be perfect for Paydon. My emotions were all over the place. Will Clarice be able to help Paydon get past his dark memories? Will he get a HEA? Overall I really enjoyed this book. The author does a great job with her writing. I can’t wait to read more, 1-click and get started today.

Carrie’s grandmother knew that Carrie needed magic in her life to help her prepare for a party that was making her nervous to attend so she provided her with the magic Wandas which helped her become less nervous. The story is cute and I think many little children will enjoy the story of Carrie and the magic wandas.

My kids and I absolutely adore each book we pick up from this author, and this one definitely ranks in our top 3 favorites for sure! This continues from the first book where we read about the items Carrie’s grandmother left behind when she moved. I love the bond between her and her grandma so much, and you can really feel it throughout the story. The magic of imagination here is tremendous as she finds a box of Magic Wandas and goes on an adventure! The illustrations are beautiful, and I truly enjoy the different fonts that are used throughout. My kiddos always leave these books with a smile, but this one created a whole new game to play thanks to the creativity of this author. I highly recommend picking this up and sharing with the young ones in your life. I bet you’ll get a kick out of it as well!

This was such a cute and engaging children’s book that my two kiddos enjoyed even more than I did! I hadn’t read anything from this author before, but the cover tugged at the animal lover in my heart. I don’t typically read books in this genre, so I have to mention how pleasantly surprised I was when I was pulled into the book. My kids are 8 and 12, and I think they are the perfect age for this story. The illustrations are beautiful and truly added to the book! It also sparked some absolutely wonderful conversations within our family, and that alone makes it a winner in my opinion. I recommend picking this up for the young ones in your life!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up by her. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. This is the fifth book in this series which I highly suggest reading the previous books as well as they are that enjoyable. I enjoy this author’s writing style as well as her ability to make her characters come to life. They are characters that are full of heart and soul who pop off the pages and into your heart. This is a well written story about Sarah and James. They are roommates that are about to find more than just a living arrangement. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which added to their chemistry as well. They are relatable and add so much to this story. This is a fast paced, hard to put down romance story that you don’t want to miss. It is an easy to read story that I highly recommend.

What a sweet romance! This is the second one in the series I’ve read, and as always the dad is my favorite. This one definitely tugged at my hearstrings a little bit, and I loved how the FMC was an absolute spitfire who took no one’s BS. The MMC was a sweetheart, even if a little dense sometimes. Pretty much fade to black/closed door for spice levels, but sometimes that can be a bit refreshing. Still recommend, as well as the other books in the series.

I always get excited when I see a book by this author because I enjoy her work so much and this book is no exception. The writing style felt so familiar when I started reading the book and it just made me connect with the story more easily. I always love the single mum trope and this author has done it with such ease. I found the characters engaging and interesting. I wanted to know more about them and see how things would develop.
This author easily cemented herself as one of my favourites a long time ago and I never fail to pick up and enjoy one of her books. I loved this book from the moment I started reading and read it all in once sitting. This is a fantastic book and a fantastic series, I would highly recommend it.

The Scottish Play is the 1st Book in the new PolyAm Fam series and I LOVED this book so much. I am a huge fan of this author and I was eagerly anticipating to read this story and I cannot say enough of how much I really enjoyed this book. Giving me the feels of a sense of love, family, drama, angst with sugar and spice….I devoured every page and have no regrets. The overall relationships between the characters and how it developed throughout the storyline makes me want to be part of world.

Who wouldn’t love a true Scotsman in a kilt help with a play that is for your graduate degree? Molly being in a predicament needed the perfect person to play the part and help her get her final project done and wow the professors. When Molly’s girlfriend, Poe, approaches Lachlan Adair to see if he would be game to help out….Lachlan does not know how to act…but taking a look at Molly at first sight…he was in. Sparks fly between Lachlan and Molly..knowing that Molly though already has her love of her life, Poe. When things heat up, feelings are mutual….with the support of the polycule that Molly is part of….Molly needs to find the courage to feel free and open on whom she loves…even if it more than one person…

Will Molly’s play become a success in the end after it is all said and done….with Poe and Lachlan both whom love Molly…

Definitely read and find out…you will not be disappointed. I loved this spin on love and for me just perfectly done. Love is Love….always

The Earl’s Match is a contemporary romance historical tale that has many layers to make it interesting. It is the fifth book in the Thompsons of Locust Street. I love the cover. Each book tells the story of one of the Thompsons siblings and this one is Paydon’s story.
I don’t read a lot of historical romance it’s not really my genre but if it is done well, as this one is I am happy. Holly paints a vivid picture of the time with her narrative that makes it easily imagined. The characters feel real and have flaws and vulnerabilities. I admit I did quite enjoy this story.
This heartwarming story is filled with passion and pain, struggle, and drama.
Clarice is not your normal society girl in fact she prefers life outside of society where she can breathe and be herself. She is perfect for Payden, she is just what he needs to ground him and pull him out of his funk.
Paydon is still reeling from his imprisonment and is finding it hard to full out of the darkness that seems to have settled into his soul. However there maybe one person who maybe just be what he needs.
If you like historical romance, then you will like not only this book but this series.

Carrie looks through the stuff grandma left behind when she moved. (Which you read about in the previous book.) In the closet she finds wooden flowers, which her grandmother tells her are Magic Wandas, not wands. This is where her fun adventure begins, using her imagination as the key.

I love this fun book about the power of imagination and all the things your imagination can create. Will everyone understand what you create? No, Carrie’s mom is a perfect example of this in the story, but that shouldn’t stop you from dreaming and creating! Definitely a fun read for younger children.

A 4.5 read<br />I was lucky enough to be able to move straight onto the second in the Serrulata Series after completing the first, and like the fist it is a really well written dystopian story.<br />The four consisting of Leora, Rolland, Aurora and Leoplod continue to grow their relationships, hone their magic and try to make sense of the world outside of the Border of the Realm as they head to New York which is now a fable. Whilst there continues to be issues within the Realm.<br />Relationships grow and meld, and the characters develop as consistently as in the first book. The world is described in such a way that you can almost see it. <br />Another really good dystopian read.<br />

The Scottish Play (Polyam Fam Series) by Phoebe Alexander

The Scottish Play is the first book in the Polyam Fam Series and is a wonderfully written Romantic Comedy. I loved everything about this book from the characters that are fully developed, relatable and complex. Her style of writing is what I love most about her. Her attention to detail along with her creative characters make the story come to life. I’ve read several books by this author and honestly this is my favorite yet. Lachlan and Molly, she doesn’t date men and for her grad school project is to stage her play she wrote. Lachlan doesn’t date period but sure has a sexy accent. He’s not the best actor but whew should that really matter? I think not. These two have some serious chemistry between them. What will happen onve the play is complete? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series.
