Shattered (the Torzial Affair)
Via Mari
4 out of 5 stars

Shattered is the first book in Via Mari’s Torzial Affair Series, this is the second series I plan on reading from this author. The first I read was great but I actually feel more invested in this one.
Via Mari is great about addressing this before jumping into the novel, but some readers may find subject manner triggering.
We met Jenny in Via Mari’s Prestian Series and she was a character I really took a liking to. I’m thrilled to see we are going to see her story.
Overall I’m impressed all around with this book and excited to see how the series plays out.

Beachcomber Enemy: a Romantic Thriller (Beachcomber Investigations Book 10) by Stephanie Queen- Review By Felicia Bates

Beachcomber EnemyBeachcomber Enemy by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beachcomber Enemy is the tenth book in Stephanie Queen’s Beachcomber Investigations Series.
As I’ve come to expect, the book had a great balance of action and adventure as well as the romantic. Dane and Shana continue to be characters you connect with and their chemistry is enough to keep you gravitating toward this series in itself.
Beachcomber Enemy hit the ground running on page one, something I really enjoy about a good book. Once the book kicked off there weren’t any lulls, the excitement was palpable and the story tlowed extremely nicely. As always, I look forward to reading more from this author.

Jake the Growling Dog: A Children’s Book about the Power of Kindness, Celebrating Diversity, and Friendship
Written by Samantha Shannon
4 out of 5 stars

I read this book with my almost 3 year old daughter this morning and I am looking forward to reading it with my son a bit later when he wakes up as I feel like the book and the additional pages after about kindness and encouraging empathy will really lead to a great discussion with him.
That being said, my daughter and I enjoyed this book. It kept her attention throughout the whole story and she really enjoyed pointing out the animal friends that Jake encounters along the tale. When asked at the end of the story her favorite part, she excitedly exclaimed, “Jake!”
Since this is a children’s book and I was reading the words out loud I did have some parts of the book that didn’t seem to flow correctly, I think I became accustomed to pages that rhymed and if there was a segment that didn’t, the flow felt awkward. Regardless, this isn’t something that would impact the book for a child. It was a story with a great message and I’m sure we will be reading it several more times in our household.

Beckoned, Part 6: Adrift in New Zealand
Aviva Vaughn
5 out of 5 stars

I can not think of a better early birthday gift than the release of the final book in the Beckoned series. I can not even begin to describe to you how invested I am in these books. I’ve read several books over the past two years and this series, Aviva Vaughn’s writing has stuck with me significantly. Beckoned: Adrift in New Zealand brings us to the end of Soren’s journey. When I began the Beckoned series from very beginning, Soren was not a character I was deeply invested in, I am so thankful that the series continued to show us his story and the character growth that he experiences throughout the pages. I’ve probably said it close to a million times but there is a quality in Aviva Vaughn’s writing that is almost poetic, it touches just about every emotion I have.
I truly look forward to reading more from this author. She’s crafted another five star read.

Fierce Emotions (Marcy Series Book 8) by Linda Burson – Review By Felicia Bates

Fierce EmotionsFierce Emotions by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Fierce Emotions is the eighth book in Linda Burson’s Marcy series and as a result is at least the eighth book I’ve read by this author. Just this fact alone should clue you in to how amazing Linda Burson’s writing is. It’s not often a series has kept my attention this long. If you haven’t been following along with this series, do yourself a favor and start at the very beginning with book one because you have a lot of catching up to do!
Marcy is an incredible character and I have loved the growth as she navigates unique twists and turns of life. As always this book had me feeling several ways and left me wanting more. Another hit out of the park from Linda Burson.

Edge of the Storm by Lisette Kristensen is a fast paced, action packed novella that truly did grab me right away. I enjoyed the strong female roles in the story and felt that the story unfolded very well. Despite being a short read, it was really descriptive and satisfying and I loved how it all came together at the end. The ending left me to question if there is more to come yet I was satisfied either way. I would definitely be interested in reading more from Lisette Kristensen, it was definitely an exciting read.

Megan Mackie
4 stars

Death and the Crone is not the first book I’ve read in Megan Mackie’s Lucky Devil Series but if desired I believe this installment could be read on it’s own with little or no difficulty.
I most enjoyed Death and the Crone because of the break from a stereotypical storyline/main character. Instead of being young and easily desirable, Margaret is older with a much more colorful past. This book had me intrigued from
start to finish with a rocky road of action and adventure. While I did mention I believed this book could be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading the other books in the series before it as well for a bigger picture. I’ve truly learned to appreciate Megan Mackie’s style of writing and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Christy Nicholas
4 out of 5

First and foremost, I absolutely love the cover of this novel. While it’s much like those in the rest of the series the colors to me, are gorgeous.
Moving on, I’ve come to expect rich, vivid storytelling from Christy Nicholas. Typically my genre of choice is a thriller of some sort so the Druid’s Brooch series is a testament to how addictive great writing can be. While these books don’t need to be read in order (I actually bounce from book to boom) I have been invested in seeing if the next book really does beat the one before it. If you are interested in historical writing and a mix with fantasy I would recommend giving this book a go.

Next Door Knight is the first book I’ve read in Nicole Flockton’s Man’s Best Friend Series. I wouldn’t categorize myself as a dog lover but there was something about this story that was really appealing.
Next Door Knight is a sweet, light hearted read with characters that will steal your heart.
I felt like the story was well written and easy to follow with great character development and several moments that made me smile.
I would definitely be open to reading more in this series and more work from Nicole Flockton in general.

Vantage Point has everything I’ve come to love and expect from Amy McKinley’s writing, action, suspense, romance wrapped into a fast paced story you don’t want to put down.

I highly recommend this book, this author and this series, it has been the most memorable set of books I’ve read in a long time.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Turning the Tide (Eastern Swingers Book 5)
Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 Stars

Turning the Tide is another perfect addition to the Eastern Swingers series. Phoebe Alexander has once again delivered a page turning story with captivating characters and a rich storyline. It is hard for me to put into words just how Turning the Tide (and the rest of the Eastern Swingers series) makes me feel. Phoebe Alexander is incredibly talented in her writing with a clear goal to deliver body positive as well as sex positive stories that leave you feeling like you met several new friends in these characters and said friends just “get” you.
While sexy like all of Phoebe Alexander’s writing, Turning the Tide tackles adult issues that in many circles are taboo to talk about, alternative lifestyles, abuse, infidelity (to name a few) in a way that is comfortable and intriguing. I can’t stress enough that you should read ALL of the Eastern Swingers series, preferably in order. It is not necessary, in fact I’ve jumped around a bit but each book gets better than the last and seeing how each character’s lives are woven into each other’s is a fun addition to the storylines. As always, I look forward to reading more from Phoebe Alexander.

(Green Room Chronicles Book 3)
J.D Frettier
5 out of 5 stars

If you are looking for a short, fun, unique story then Flirty Dancing is the pick for you. On that note, if you haven’t already read the first two books in J.D Frettier’s Green Room Chronicles, do that first!
Each book is short and can be read as a stand alone but the stories mean more when you’ve already had a glimpse into the past of characters in the first two books. I promise once you read the first, you’ll want to read the rest immediately.
I don’t even know where to start on the book itself, Flirty Dancing has a bit of everything, it’s hilarious and naughty but there is real emotion mixed in making characters relatable. I can’t recommend this book enough and I really hope there will be more Green Room Chronicles to come.

Love on the Line is the sequel to the heart tugging, Love on a Limb. Without question I NEEDED to read this book, Love on a Limb left such a lasting impression, I smiled, I cried, truly one of the best books I’ve ever read. That being said, I was a bit fearful that Love on the Line would not live up to my expectations. Fortunately, Laurie Lewis’ writing shines bright once again in another unforgettable read about Mikaela and Matthew. The characters are heartwarming and the type that you find yourself completely rooting for. The storyline is rich and emotional, I can’t write a review that would give this story justice. Wonderful!

If the Shoe Fits was the perfect continuation of Libby’s antics, quirky and fun. I could have devoured this book in one sitting if not for being an adult and having things like work to get to.
I would definitely recommend If the Shoe Fits, it’s my favorite in the series thus far. I would recommend starting the series from the very beginning to get the full picture of Libby’s adventures!

5 out of 5 stars

If you are looking for a book series that plays on every human emotion you have then Sacha Fortune’s Hart & Cole series is the one for you.
I was completely invested in these books from the very first one but this is a series that leaves you believing the next book couldn’t possibly be as good and then it exceeds all expectations.
Sacha Fortune says it herself in a brief “disclaimer” before reading these books, “it isn’t a glossy love story.” Everything about this book, these characters, this series, is real, raw and emotional. I couldn’t even begin to compose a review that gives this story justice. The depth and character growth of Darren and Luisa alone are enough to earn this author a spot on my “must read” list.
This book is not a standalone read, so if by chance you’re reading this without reading the first two books first, go back and devour them- they’re that good.

Misfortune of Song
(The Druid’s Brooch series, Book 5)
4 out of 5 stars

The Druid’s Brooch series does not fall under the category of genres I read very often but with books so well written, I’ve gladly made an exception.
Misfortune of Song is the fifth book in the series by Christy Nicholas but it can easily be read by itself; in fact I’ve been reading this series out of order.
Once again Christy Nicholas has captured me with her storytelling, in depth characters and fantastic imagery. The storyline had a bit of everything to keep me engaged and my emotions on edge.
I believe in my last review I stated that the book I had just read was my favorite in the series, I’d have to go back on my word and say Misfortune of Song has stolen that spot. Let this be an example of the kind of series this is, once you think you couldn’t love the books anymore, you read the next installment. Misfortune of Song has introduced me to a whole new world and much welcomed break from reality, if only for a short period. I will be recommending this author/series to anyone I know that’s looking for a fantastic read all around.

Age of Saints is the 7th book in the standalone Druid’s Brooch series by Christy Nicholas. The author continues to impress me with the depth
of her storytelling and the vivid imagery she paints.
This is a fantastic fantasy series I’ve found myself lost in, with characters that are deep and relatable. I have enjoyed every book I’ve read in the series thus far, but there was something about Age of Saints that I loved to the point where I would venture to say it’s my favorite! If you’re looking for a great book series that transports you to another place and time then I honestly can’t recommend the Druid’s Brooch Series or Age of Saints enough.

I wouldn’t necessarily call myself religious and there are times I’m not even sure I’m spiritual so it may come as a surprise that this book had me completely drawn to it the moment I stumbled across it. Michelle N. Onuorah delivered a fantastic story about faith, triumph and life at the just the right time in my own. I’ve recently been trying to adopt the mindset that everyone I meet has their own set of troubles and life tests and it isn’t my job or business to compare or judge what is hard for others. From the unapologetic forward of this book to the very end, Michelle N. Onuorah had my ear. I really enjoyed this short, inspirational read.

I was first introduced to J.D Boudreaux’s writing when I stumbled across the beautiful cover art of Wish I Had a Nickel. At the time I had read that novel I had somehow missed it was the second in a series. While some aspects left me curious what I was missing, I was really captivated by J.D Boudreaux’s storytelling and loved the story regardless. That being said, since this is a series meant be read in order I highly recommend starting at the beginning for the full picture.
I felt that Broken Sand Dollar was a fantastic ending to a unique storyline. I tend to feel that so many romances are typical and predictable, J.D Boudreaux crafted a series with heart warming characters, great twists, and raw emotion that felt new and refreshing to me. This is definitely an author I will keep a lookout for.

4 out of 5 stars

For a while I would shy away from anthologies, there was something about a collection of shorter stories that didn’t sit right with me. Completely ridiculous thought process now that I stop to think about how anthologies have a little bit for everyone and it’s so easy to pick up and put down as you see fit.

Heart of Hunk is a great collection of stories that really vary enough to appeal to everyone. I was drawn to this particular collection because of Tamara Ferguson’s writing, it’s been something I’ve really enjoyed in the past.

Tamara Ferguson has a gift for crafting stories with characters that make you feel “at home”. They’re heartwarming and relatable with a Hallmark channel type feel to them. A Kiss Under a Blue Christmas Moon is a second chance romance that met every expectation I’ve come to have with Tamara Ferguson’s writing!

Foxxy Christmas by Allyson R. Abbott was my first read by this author but I will definitely be looking into more of her writing. The chemistry between the characters was fantastic and the storyline was fast paced but never rushed. I thoroughly enjoyed this story!

Heart of a Hunk was the perfect anthology to help me hold on to the Christmas season just a little bit longer! Definitely would recommend.
