Being an entrepreneur, I always try to find books to help improve myself and my business. I came across this one and I must say it was good! There is a lot of information to digest in this book so take it slow and read it again if you have to. This book was a really big help. Usually these sort of books don’t hold my attention very long but this one did and I am reaping the benefits. It is so positive and non judgemental in a way that made me want to keep reading so that I could do better.
Honestly that alone is a miracle but the exercises and helpful tips that get you through those days when procrastinating seems like all you can do makes this book an absolute must have for me.

As someone who struggles significantly with ADHD and procrastination, I found this book to be extremely helpful. The author does a great job of outlining the information into different sections that can be read in pieces or all at once. I really enjoyed the different exercises that she offers throughout the book. While some of them didn’t exactly feel like a good fit for me, they did give me a different outlook on how to approach different situations in the future. This is a very helpful self-help book that I would recommend to anyone who is struggling to find new ways to overcome procrastination and distractions from the work that they need to complete. I will be checking out her other works to see what other ideas, tips, and tricks the author can offer.

I feel reading this book was worthwhile, even though I am not a creative or business person, or “other professional.” I am, admittedly, a massive procrastinator and perfectionist. I expected this book to deliver useful advice on how to overcome procrastination and become more productive, and it delivered. The author gives many examples on how to achieve a non-perfectionist mindset. She encourages time management and gives advice and examples for how to budget one’s time. I found the exercises useful, and they added to the value of the book. Some advice, I felt was for people with greater privilege than me. I am relatively low-income and very isolated, with the majority of child raising and domestic tasks in my household. The book emphasizes having a community of support, which is difficult for some people. The author also suggests paying someone to complete lower priority tasks, which is not possible for most working-class wage earners I know. In true procrastinator mindset, I underestimated the time it would take to read this book in a meaningful way. It took approximately 12 hours to read and work through about half the exercises. I love the overwhelmingly positive tone in this book! I appreciate the author taking time to remind readers that we have what we need to succeed, and our lives have “value and meaning.”

Productivity is Power 2 is a self-help book aimed at helping people understand and overcome their barriers to productivity. It is written to appeal to a wide audience, with examples including education, creative, relationship and workplace scenarios.
There are exercises and journal prompts to engage with throughout the book – I would recommend reading with a notebook or notes app to hand. Not everything will apply to every reader, but there is plenty that will be useful!
Something unexpected for me was that it got me thinking about barriers that might affect my students in lessons and practice between lessons. There are some things I will consider more when giving feedback and planning activities, and I will take more time to address seemingly trivial barriers that could be leading to more procrastination.
I did find the book at times hard to get through. I’m not sure how much it was the writing style or the structure, and the difficulty I had in focusing on the book is probably a sign that I needed to read the book. For some readers, though, focusing on reading the book could be a good way to practise some of the techniques as you learn them!
This book gets four stars from me. I would recommend it to people who generally struggle with productivity but have some time on their hands to learn about why they procrastinate and get some strategies to help improve productivity!

When it comes to books on motivation and productivity, I enjoy giving the book a try in finding new ways to propel myself to a better future. Rettig was quite insightful on the approach to productivity in seeking the essence reason behind one’s procrastination lying within our circumstances or past life rearing experiences to help us solidify our own motivations to better productivity. Another great tool in this book was how Rettig validated how many will negate their past procrastination experiences but when journaling, use a power solving technique in seeking those negative notions. It has really helped change my thought process in viewing my own situation and moving toward being able to tackle my tasks and completing them. Great selections for individuals, recent graduates, and book clubs!

As someone who can give advice on how to be productive, yet has a hard time being productive herself, I found this book extremely helpful, relatable, and educational. The way Rettig talks to you throughout is so calming and serene that you really feel she understands what you are going through. It was so validating to hear someone else say things that I, myself, have said and then she turned around and gave you very real ways to overcome and work through whatever is holding you back. I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with getting stuff done (even if it’s temporarily) because it’s a great one to have on hand. She never once made me feel bad for putting projects off or anything like that. This book really is phenomenal and it’s one that you can skip around to certain chapters (especially after you’ve read it through once) to find ideas and motivation. Reviewed by @meggs1717

Sometimes, in life, you come across a book and it feels like it just speaks to you – like it was written just for you. For me, this is one of those books. When reading it, I honestly felt as if I were reading the encouraging, knowledgeable words of a trusted friend or mentor. I have struggled with procrastination and self-starting since childhood. I appreciated that the author relates it to disempowerment, rather than laziness or failure; that in itself was seeing procrastination through a new lens in which there was nothing inherently wrong with me. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who feels they need a little help and encouragement to get started on the things they want to accomplish in life. I will definitely be checking out more books by this author and mentioning it to the people I know and love.

This was actually really great read. its about how you can power thou procrastination and also with perfectionism since they do go hand in hand. If you procrastinate about something it could be because you want it perfect. It talks about how to use different technique that could help. Even pinpointing things that might be a reason for the procrastination. The ideas that are created in this book show a way of how to use disempowerment towards perfectionism and how to use the process to kind of get out of your own way and stop procrastinating. Highly recommend if you might be dealing with things that need to be perfect and procrastinating things.

I feel this is a good read for those who are trying to help their procrastinating ways. I like that right in beginning the authors speaks on mental health and advises to see a specialist, especially because sometimes our procrastination comes from struggling with a mental health disorder. The author includes in the book different strategies/exercise to try to help combat your procrastination, as someone with ADHD I kind of felt good about myself for already doing some of them on days I’m not letting my quasiproductive procrastination win. And there are some I need to keep in mind to try. I really like that she encourages to stop that inner bully that I know a lot of people have. I really enjoyed part 2 on perfectionism. My complaint with the book is when she’d state something and then say that she’ll go more on it in a different chapter. I didn’t feel the book was one to skip around in, so I felt that it wasn’t needed to include it’ll be talked about again later on. But other than that I think it’s a good read for those looking for a little extra help.

While you might be debating if this book is really for you because of the title — let me tell you there is something for everyone. While Retting points out the exact exercises in her book may not be exactly right for you, I do think it’s time wasted. There were some that were not a fit for me, but even still, the exercise did get me looking at things from a different perspective. I would recommend this book. After all, knowledge is power.

I love how the author explains concepts in a very simple way for all to understand the concept of how to not be unproductive and how to beat procrastination and perfectionism. The reading material is very well thought out and uses sources to provide evidence to support her concepts. What I like most is how she provides simple steps for the reader to follow to improve upon their bad habits.
