Ahhhh. I expected just a love story. This was so much more. As a social worker I loved the focus on mental health, especially focused on a male character. Another favorite of mine was how the couple started out as friends. Things usually start in love stories hot and heavy, but these two characters develop beautiful.
This gave me a bit of Chicago Fire feels. Can’t wait to read more in the series!

I absolutely loved this book, and will be looking for more books from this author. I was captivated from the beginning, surprised and delighted! I also was able to have some tasty treats along the way! This was very well written and kept me wanting more, in a very good way throughout the book. I did not want the book to end!

Jake the Growling Dog Goes to Daycare Written by Samantha Shannon 5 out of 5 stars
This is a well-written book. The rhyming pattern kept if flowy and fun. Jake the growling dog is so relatable in this tale. He is experiencing a new situation. He is going to doggy daycare for 2 days. He has never been there. He is nervous. Will the other dogs like him even though he growls all the time? Will he make new friends? What if he is scared? What if the others are scared of him? We all go through these situations. The fun activities at the end of the story help remind children that what they are feeling is normal and okay. I do love the mindfulness activities. The breathing exercise has been very helpful with my grandson.

This was such a delightful book to read. Who hasn’t experienced these feelings? We all have, and children especially in today’s world are experiencing this. I really enjoyed the main character Jake and was able to connect with him. The story flowed easily and had me wanting to turn to the next page to find out what happens next. The rhyming and “fun” of the words also made you feel like cheering on Jake and supporting him as his friend did. This is a book that could and should be read to anyone who is feeling either stressed, or about to have a new experience. This book shows what a little Kindness and friendship can do. I give this book 5 stars.
