Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #2)Delicious Death by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The second book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries set, fully composed of six books. Elinor Chalamet, crime fighting medium, returns for another round of ghost banter and mischief. I would recommend reading book 1 (Ghost Talker) before this one, as it builds on previous character development and helps to establish the momentum into Delicious Death. I really enjoyed that the story continues, but is not dragged out extensively. We find ourselves in a new location with a whole different array of ghosts and characters, and of course dilemmas to deal with! I did find this book to be a change of pace from book one, and a LITTLE slower, but still a fast and easy read that I highly enjoyed. Byrd Nash knows how to engage the reader and keep the pages turning, and I am looking forward to the next one.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this first book, our main character, Madame Elinor Chalamet, is determined to find her father’s killer. It was this goal that led her to be trained as a medium by the elite Morpheus Society. Now she helps others as a female Sherlock Holmes type, while also trying to find leads about her father.

Our main male character is Tristan Fontaine, Duke de Archambeau. He often takes pleasure in denouncing frauds who claim to have medium abilities, and he has Elinor in his sites. Will he prove that she is indeed a fraud or will Elinor show him her skills are in fact real?

I love a snarky, strong heroine and Elinor definitely is that. The adventures, romance, humor, and amazing descriptions all add greatly to this quick read. If you think a female Sherlock who also may or may not be a REAL medium is your kind of story, then you should definitely pick this up. I honestly can’t wait to read more as this story kept me turning the pages.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ghost Talker is a fast-paced novella but by no means lacks intrigue and action.
I love the genres which this story includes fantasy (paranormal), historical, crime and romance so this was right up my alley! The combination was woven together very well, and the elements felt perfectly balanced – they complimented each other throughout the story. I was initially concerned that it may have felt thrown together without much thought, but as my first introduction to this author’s abilities, it is safe to say she has quickly found her place on my favourites list. It was clear that the combination of genres, events and characters were used with a purpose in mind, and all came together to create an enjoyable and gripping adventure.
The way that the characters bounce off each other and each have their distinct personalities alongside the descriptive way they are portrayed make falling in love with the characters (and the world they inhabit) so easy. I especially love Elinor’s independence and I wish I had even half of her self-confidence!
I can’t wait for the rest of the series and hope to learn more about Elinor, but I especially wish to learn more about the events of the Duke of Archambeau’s past as the series progresses.

This book helps to introduce the main character Madame Chalamet for this six-part novella series. The time period reminds me of Bridgeton where there are lords and ladies, castles, and dinner parties. The way that Madame Chalamet communicates to the dead is clearly explained at the beginning of the series and more pieces throughout. With a recently deceased body, she is able to grasp key information for the police. Due to the sensitive nature of the case the duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine decides that she must remain at his residence until the case is solved. The twists and turns of the case are fun and made me unable to put the book down. There is still the underlying mystery of who killed her father to figure out but she is able to get another step closer by the end of the book.

This is the first book in the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries. The author writes wonderfully and gets you hooked on learning about Madame Elinor Chalamet who has been studying to become a medium. She has a personal reason to study this, to find out who killed her father. While on this quest, she is helping the police whenever she can.

Although this book is a novella, it keeps your attention with suspense, romance, and a strong woman character in Elinor. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the books in the series.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elinor Chalamet is a woman with an unusual talent, she is a Ghost Talker and can communicate with spirits so that they can pass through to the afterlife, but she also uses her talents to try and find her fathers killer, however, so far she has had little success. One day she receives a summons from the local morgue with a request for her aid with a body which has been found in the canal, however, when she arrives there, she is not expected by everyone and when she reveals what information she is able to, the Duke de Archambeaux, Tristan Fontaine is quite perturbed and insists on Elinor being escorted to his house where she will have to remain under house arrest.

Elinor is not impressed by this and so requests her belongings and her maid to be moved to his home, so that she can still undertake her work in a professional manner, the Duke is reluctant, but when she insists, he allows it, but only if he can vet her correspondence and clients first. This is not something Elinor is happy about, but she obliges and makes it as tedious for the Duke as possible, as it is very much entertaining for her to ruffle his feathers and put him in his place, however, this abrupt and outspoken attitude is not well received by the others living with the Duke.

As the investigation proceeds, Elinor is called upon to help, but as danger and intrigue surround her, will she be able to keep her head and not allow any antagonistic circumstances, or her budding attraction to the Duke de Archambeaux overwhelm her? This is a mystery where nothing is as it seems and the dark underbelly beneath the picturesque setting of Alenbonné is revealed.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ghost Talker was interesting. I struggled to get into it at first but the author wrote an interesting mystery with a supernatural element. I’m a sucker for the supernatural, books of fiction in this genre have always intrigued me. Ghost Talker was no different.
Madame Chalamet has been brought into an investigation that lands her in house arrest. All because of what the spirit revealed to her. Revealing who he was and what relations said person has, Duke Archambeau felt he needed to keep a close eye on her. Despite being present in the morgue of the spirit talking he still had his doubts about Madame Chalamet’s profession.
Forced to work together to solve the murder and keep the peace treaty signing in order, the Duke and Madame find as much as they frustrate one another they also entertain as well.
The mystery the author lays before you is different because ghosts are helping to lead the investigation. But that different element makes it stand out. Keeps the book in the reader’s mind even after they are done. Makes one look forward to more books in this series. As well as what could develop between the Madame and Duke.

Ghost Talker (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries #1)Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elinor is a Ghost Talker in league with the Morpheus Group. She works with the local authorities and her friend, Dr. LaRue, who works in the morgue to solve murders. When a man related to the king winds up dead, a crown goes missing, and everything is hanging on both to be solved before it becomes a political nightmare… Elinor finds herself adding yet another accomplice to solve this mystery. The widowed Duke Archambeau is the king’s man, not one to look for help, and definitely NOT a believer in Ghost Talkers. However, as he finds himself in need of Elinor’s help, he can’t help but become a little intrigued by the whole ghost talking thing, as well as Elinor. Will they be able to solve the mystery before it causes political unrest? Can Elinor resist the lure of solving Duke Archambeau’s supposed ghost?

I really enjoyed this book. It was quick moving, well written, and I loved all the characters. I couldn’t help but love Elinor’s frankness with the duke, and how he just didn’t really know what to do with her. I like that they didn’t instantly fall in love, but all signs point to a slow building relationship. This is a fresh hearted and informative read. I am looking forward to reading the next installments of this series. I truly cannot wait to see how their relationship continues to grow!

Byrd Nash is a first time author for me, but I was certainly not disappointed. As the first book in its series, Ghost Talker, introduces the reader to many characters, including Madame Elinor Chalamet and Tristan Fontaine. Chalamet is a medium and sleuth who works with the police in aiding death investigations, while Fontaine is a Duke in service to the king. All of the characters are so well-developed, realistic (especially to the time period), and personable. I found myself cheering when Chalamet triumphed and held my breath whenever there was a suspenseful bit. Ghost Talker is full of suspense, drama, ghosts, paranormal, and even a bit of slow-burn romance. I am moving directly to the second book in this series, because I can’t wait to continue!

Ghost Talker by Byrd Nash is a fun and witty novella that starts off the Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries series. Elinor Chalamet is a medium that is searching for the person that killed her father. While she is hunting for his killer she aids the police when a dead body is found in a canal. This case puts her in the path of Tristan Fontaine, duke de Archambeau. There are nice sparks between Elinor and Tristan. I enjoyed their budding relationship. The writing is wonderful and the characters, are well-written. The ghost story is well-balanced. This is book one in the historical gas lamp fantasy series. This is my first time reading this genre. I’m enjoying this novel! It’s set in my favorite time period historically. There’s judacious use of metaphors and impressive world building. I laughed at the use of a woman’s weapon described as man-stopper! Mediums are ghost talkers in the wonderful mystery with a little bit of romance.

Madame Chalamet converses with the dead. She is a professional ghost talker, one who belongs to a society of repute in the ghost talking business, and consults regularly with the gendarme, officers of the law. She does not partake in the dog and pony show by which fraudulent Ghost Talkers swindle the wealthy.
It is by her police consulting that Elinor Chalamet finds herself under house arrest with the Duke de Archembeau while dead man is identified as a relative of the Crown and items of political importance are discovered missing

This novel was absolutely riveting- various storylines interwoven with commonalities turned the pages quickly. I look forward to many more Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries!

As someone who has always been interested in what lies await for us in the afterlife, upon hearing that this series focuses on a medium in the Morpheus Society, I knew it was a no-brainer that I had to read this book. I have always been interested in the 1900s, which is when this book takes place, so enjoyed seeing ‘signs of the times’ throughout the story of a heroine and a duke up against a ghost. I loved the slow-burning romance that takes place between the two main characters, and found other characters you encounter to be well-written as well. I hope to see more of these characters in future novels, this one is certainly not the last that I will read by the author. Delicious Death, here I come!

Ghost Talker is the first book in the series by Byrd Nash. We begin by meeting Madame Elinor Chalamet. I very quickly fell in love with her character. She is confident, snarky, and takes charge. She can speak to ghosts and is whisked away to help the Duke de Archambeau, Tristan Fontaine. He comes off as snooty and not really believing her, even though he wanted her help. I loved how the relationship between them developed. I also liked how we get tidbits into other mysteries that may be solved in upcoming books! Definitely recommend this series and looking forward to the next book.

Ghost Talker: Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Volume 1 is the first book in a 6 part series. I have read other books by this author, and this did not disappoint. This is a relatively short read but packs a lot into the pages. Madame Chalamet is a medium trained by the elite Morpheus Society. She is trying to solve the mystery of her father’s death. She also has to contend with Tristan Fontaine, duke de Archambeau, who is part of another investigation. I like her quick wit and sarcasm. I like the back-and-forth conversations with Tristan Fontaine. I love the setting and the story. This is a gaslamp fantasy with lots of interesting characters. Madame Chalamet, Elinor, is a great character. I look forward to reading this series and seeing what situations Elinor ends of getting herself into.

I loved this ghost story. It kept your attention throughout the whole book. I loved the sub plot about Mysir de Duke Archambeau’s dead wife, I cannot wait to read more of their story in book two. Madam Elinor Chalamet is a well-known ghost talker (medium), she frequently assists on criminal investigations to figure out who someone may be, how they died, and who killed them. The book is set in a country named Sarnesse, in a time period where a lady was allowed education but still upheld to a certain standard. The case that Madam Chalamet is brought in to assist with, is the death of the Giles Monet, and has the crowns attention. Because it is such a high-profile case, Madam Chalamet is brought to Mysir de Duke’s house to be on house arrest and restricted from speaking to anyone about the case. I love the connection between Madam Chalamet and Mysir de Archambeau, while it is not an immediate attraction, I love the way they interact with each other, both strong personalities battling out to win dominance. The ending was amazing, coming to a close of the criminal investigation, but leaving you still with some questions about all of the characters, more specially, if Madam Chalamet will investigate the Duke’s wife’s death.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elinor Chalamet is a medium, more commonly referred to as a Ghost Talker, that has been using her skills to try to uncover the truth behind who her father’s killer could be. When a body is discovered in the river Madame Chalamet is brought in and asked if she could talk to the dead body. To find out who this person is, she asks the dead body who they are, who they were last with and if he can describe the last hour of his life.

In doing so Madame Chalamet suddenly finds herself wrapped up in some royal matters that involve the Duke de Archambeau. The Duke de Archambeau thinks Madame Chalamet has heard too much and until royal matters are concluded Madame Chalamet is to be a “guest” at his lavish home.

I loved the authors very vivid descriptions of the clothing the characters wore, as well as the furniture and homes of that era. I felt as though I was there, and I could see myself standing in the room looking around at the beautiful furnishings that surrounded me. The characters were unique while also being relatable. Madame Chalamet is a unique character whom I quickly felt drawn to. I loved that she could talk to ghosts because that is fascinating, but she is also strong, smart, witty, and feisty. Duke de Archambeau was a hard one to figure out as he came across initially as being snobbish and uptight, but then there were times he seemed so endearing and sweet, albeit briefly. There appeared to be some sort of chemistry between Madame Chalamet and Duke de Archambeau, but it was so subtle it was hard to tell. I am anxious to read book two and see if and how things progress between the two of them.

Elinor is a smart, talented, sassy Ghost Talker and daughter of a jeweler. Right from the first sentence, she drew me in and made me like her. She occasionally uses her talents to assist the police, and today is the beginning of one of those times.

Elinor is called upon in the middle of dinner because the new case in need of the Ghost Talker involves royalty and murder. Duke Archambeau is the suspect in question, and also happens to be a person from Elinor’s past. You don’t learn much about him in this story, but the author sprinkles just enough throughout to keep you invested in the two of them together.

Excellent world building, very well written characters and an especially enviably strong and smart female lead, great and interesting mysteries – I’m thrilled to read the rest of the series! Another win for Nash!

Elinor Chalamet is a highly trained medium that assists the police in the city of Alenbonne.

When she is called to identify a body that was found in the canal, she finds herself in the middle of Royal affairs.

I really loved this book. Just the mix of sassy protagonists who have their own agenda that they are working towards and fantasy made this hard to put down. I laughed quite often while reading. Elinor’s witty replies and narration reminded me of Anita Blake.

I read online that this is a six part series and I can’t wait to see the romantic relationship with Tristan Fontaine progress throughout the series.

I love mysteries and I love ghosts so this is something I may read again because I loved it so much.

When the opening line of the book reads “Dead bodies interrupted my dessert course” the book can’t be anything but good!

Elinor Chalamet is a “ghost talker” and she’s been trying to solve her father’s death for many years. When a local incident arises where a ghost talker might be helpful, she’s summoned and finds herself at the Duke’s residence…held prisoner. The Duke keeps getting in her way and preventing her from doing her due diligence with these ghosts. The Duke is also relying on Elinor’s knowledge of precious gems to help him find a missing piece of the royal gems. Will the Duke move out of the way and allow Elinor to do what she does best?

This was a short little novella that I understand is part of a 6 book series. I look forward to reading more of Elinor’s adventures and seeing where the love interest goes.

I really like how the story is placed ‘way back when’ but written in modern English so that we can actually understand it.

This novella is book one in a series of six books, and the reader is introduced to, Madame Elinor Chalamet, who is a ‘Ghost Talker’. Elinor was trained as a medium by the elite Morpheus Society, and she now uses her skills to help the police when needed. However, her main goal is hunting for her father’s killer. The police ask for Elinor’s help when a dead body is found in the canal, and she would succeed in solving the mystery if Tristan Fontaine, duke de Archambeau, wasn’t interfering and getting in her way. Told from Elinor’s POV, the storyline flowed well and the intriguing plot had me hooked from start to finish. Elinor is a great main character who brings the story together, and the descriptive narrative brings the setting to life. This gaslamp story has a mix of fantasy, ghosts, mystery, drama, and a slow burn romance. I look forward to carrying on Elinor’s adventures in the next novella!
