Enchanted in Time by Nikki Lynn Barrett. This was such a good read. Its a paranormal, friendship, sad story that once you start you won’t want to put down. Claudette Grayson is a 90 something year old author who needs a caregiver, Roxanne Ferris is dealing with a horrible tragedy and needs to keep her mind busy so she takes the job. They quickly bond over books and other things in their lives. Their friendship blossoms and thinks are going smoothly until Roxanne starts seeing things, like a character from a book she and Claudette discussed she starts to think she is truly losing her mind. The house and Claudette have more going on than meets the eye and Roxanne will either lose what little mind she has left or figure out what is going on. This is truly a beautiful story of friendship, tragedy, loss and love. It will keep you flipping pages til the very end!

Enchanted in Time is a wonderfully written Paranormal story that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I’m a huge fan of this author. Her style of writing along with her creative characters make for one heck of a story. I got pulled in from the beginning and got lost in the pages. At times I literally felt like I was apart of the story. Her attention to detail is so on point. This is a story about Roxanne and Claudette. Claudette is a best selling author with one dying wish and that is to spend her last days in a house she absolutely loves being in. Roxanne is her caregiver and she loves listening to Claudette’s stories. These two bond over said stories but then strange things start happening she begins to question whether its real or not. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This book has it all! Romance, time travel, and family dynamics feature heavily in the fantastic read. Characters deal with loss, and love. Potential issues related to time travel, and metaphysical theories abound. An unexpected twist, winds up the story neatly.

This was a really good read! Not only was it short and quick, it was packed full of emotions and twists. I thought I had the twist figured out (and I had one of them figured out) but not all of them! It was very interesting reading this one because o haven’t read a novel quite like this one before. It was also romantic, and can be read at any age really. This book was sad but also inspiring in a way and had a gothic romance theme going. Kudos to this author and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future!

What a wonderful and unique story – I really enjoyed this book! I’ve read a few books by this author and she does have a wonderful writing style that makes all of her books enjoyable to read and this one was no different. The characters were really interesting to read about – I love Roxanne! I loved the bond that she had with Claudette, they really had a genuine connection I felt. The author really did an amazing job with the storyline for this story I think it had potential to become difficult to understand but she made it so easy to read, so many intertwined themes all blended together perfectly.
I would absolutely recommend this story, its beautifully written and wonderful to read! I look forward to more from this author again in the future

Truly could not put this book down. I fell in love with Phillip, Roxanne and Claudette from the get go and the author did not disappoint!

My heart broke for Roxanne when she was seeing the ghosts of her son and husband. The heartache she experienced and then to uncover the truth about Claudette’s brother and giving them the best gift.

I literally smiled when Roxanne and Phillip were given the truth in the last few chapters. I am so glad the author let them have such a wonderful happy ending. They both deserved that so much after so much tragedy in love happened to both of them.

I personally love stories like this one. It puts you in your feelings and then doesn’t stop. You get attached to the characters because there isn’t many and they bring you along for the ride.

This was the first book I read by this author and it was really really good! This story jumps right in and keeps you entranced and wanting to know what happens. Roxanne had some trauma she is still trying to process and Claudette may be just what she needs to help her heal. Really they need each other and they just click from the start. This story is definitely intense and I totally did not expect the ending! I literally gasped when secrets were revealed and just so surprised at the plot twist. Its definitely worth the read!

This was a delightful book it had me hooked from the first page. The characters are well and strongly written and I can relate to Roxanne’s tragedy. This is an emotional, magical, loss. I just loved the plot and the description of their surroundings I could imagine myself there.
Roxanne Ferris is suffering from a great tragedy and she takes a summer job as a caregiver to bestselling author Claudette Grayson. The ailing 93-year-old woman doesn’t have long to live but wants to spend the rest of her days in the house she’s fond of.

Claudette recognized Roxanne is an old soul and they bond over delightful stories and fictional characters that feel so real. These women use these stories to escape tragic memories. When Roxanne see’s mysterious things happen, she wonders with her grief that she has lost her mind and went crazy especially when she begins seeing one of the fictitious characters in the house.
Could taking this job help Roxanne heal? Will she be-able to move on? Who is this man? Will this summer bring these two-woman peace and closer could go one or destroying what’s left of two women’s tormented minds?
You have to read the story to find out the answers…

This author has yet to disappoint me with her stories! Enchanted is the right word for the journey you go on as you read page after page. Roxanne is healing from something tragic in her life when she becomes a caretaker for a famous author, Claudette Grayson. Claudette doesn’t like the idea of someone telling her what to do, so they find some common ground. When they bond over books and stories, it is just the distraction Roxanne needs. When mysterious things start happening around the house, including one of the book characters appearing to Roxanne, she finds herself questioning everything.

This book was quite an adventure! I loved the depth and emotion of the characters. I really connected to Roxanne and her life. This author has a way of intertwining enchantment, supernatural and real life. There is no feeling like getting completely engrossed in a beautiful story. Lastly, I just want to add that WOW, that twist threw me for a loop!! It is not often that I can not predict the ending to a book, but this one I definitely did not see coming.

This wonderfully written novel had me hooked from page one and I felt completely immersed in the storyline. Roxanne Ferris is recovering from a personal tragedy when she decides to take a summer job as a caregiver to the bestselling author Claudette Grayson. The ailing author wants to spend the time she has left in the house she’s so fond of. The pair bond over Claudette’s enchanting stories of fictional characters, and it gives Roxanne the perfect escape from her haunting memories. However, when these characters start to feel so real that Roxanne not only sees one of the fictitious characters in the house, but actually speaks with him, she starts to question her sanity.
As Roxanne tries to discover who the mysterious stranger is, the summer could either bring her peace and closure or destroy the remains of both women’s tormented minds. The descriptive narrative really brought the atmospheric and at times claustrophobic feeling of the house to life. The characters were intriguing and I felt engaged with both Roxanne and Claudette, and I really felt for both of them due to the tragedies they had faced. The storyline flowed well and had plenty of plot twists to keep me guessing as to the outcome of the story. I found this to be a gripping read and one which I had trouble putting down.

Once she starts, she starts seeing things and someone. It gets better from there! Give it a read!

This was an endearing story filled with mystery and soul-searching. The writing draws you in and the characters well developed. There are twists and turns that kept me guessing as I turned the pages. As Roxanne navigates her emotional past, she meets Claudette who has a similar past and they form a connection. There is drama, romance and highly charged emotions. This author never disappoints, totally recommend.

This is a beautiful paranormal story. The author’s writing is beautiful and really drags the author into the story and the lives of the characters. I love how the characters from the past and present mix and how their lives are connected in ways you don’t expect.
Roxanne has been through an awful lot and is now dealing with grief over losing her husband and son but also guilt. To help her overcome this she takes a job to help a old lady in her final days.
However the old lady and the house aren’t what they seem. There is a story to tell about the residence of the houses past. A story of love, betrayal and unanswered questions. Claudette wants this story told before she passes.
So that is also part of Roxannes job. But with strange happenings in the house, strange figures appearing and Roxanne not knowing what’s real or just her mind playing tricks this is one story that will take some time to unravel and when it does it will shock and surprise everyone.

The first couple of pages had piqued my curiosity about the story. So much so, that I didn’t notice my grandson attempting to steal my cup of hot coffee. This paranormal romantic suspense story feels like it would be almost any book lover fan’s dream- to be able to spend time with your favorite author over the summer as their caregiving companion. I know it would be mine!

The creative tapestry this text is woven with a part of the paranormal narrative one wouldn’t expect to see in this genre, but it works exponentially. Love across time and space, memories that feel like dreams, and love that feels like home. Enchanted in Time will draw you into the energy of the characters and the paths taken to find love and forgiveness.

Enchanted In Time by Nikki Lynn Barrett is a wonderful paranormal story, woven with friendship, mystery, emotion, drama, and intriguing twists that had me devouring the story long past my bedtime just so I could find out how everything played out in the end.
I know I have said this before, but I really do enjoy Ms. Barrett’s work, her stories are always cleverly constructed, intriguing, and entirely engrossing. And this story certainly lived up to my expectations, and then some! I saw this pop up on my recommended book notifications, and I snapped up a copy without even knowing what it was about because I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed.
I loved meeting Roxanne and Claudette- and the following along while their intriguing story unfolded. Ms. Barrett added enough clever little twists to the story that I was completely hooked, avidly reading to find out what was happening. I don’t want to spoil it for you by giving anything away, except to say that it is definitely worth the read. So, grab a copy and let the author, characters, and story surprise you- in a really great way.
Can’t wait to see what Ms. Barrett has in store for us next.
Happy Reading!

This is not my typical type of story. I usually skip ghostly books. I have read this author before and I love how she is able to bring a story to life so I decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed! I was actually surprised with the twists this one took. I know I had to re-read lines a couple times because of my shock. I enjoy how the author made me believe in these characters.

I really liked the story and the characters. Just goes to show..read with an open mind. In the back there is a short story about finding your happiness. It is a good bonus read.

Enchanted in Time is a great story filled with romance, suspense and mystery. Roxanne has dealt with loss in her life. As a distraction, she goes to live with an elderly woman who is a writer named Claudette. I loved the conversations that the two had about writing characters as a fellow author. This was not a typical romance because the story wasn’t just about two people falling in love. Roxanne did meet and fall in love with Phillip but the book also dealt with her relationship with Claudette. This was an interesting change of pace for me. Also, Phillip is from a different time period which gives the story a science fiction aspect. Overall, Enchanted in Time is about people who have suffered great loss in their lives and how they overcome said loss. This story also showed that you can have hope when things seem bleak. I recommend this book for anyone who is into romantic science fiction. Reviewed by @cw31

As always, this author amazes me in all which they write and create. This book alone had its own magic and mesmerized me with the words in which it held. The characters brought on their own intrigue as well, I could not put it down, I was very much invested with my reading.

The book gave me such feelings, and the truth, which was hard to take at times, we are meet an end’s meet at some point, no matter how much we want to avoid it. But something that does not die with us, is the life we lived, the impressions we made, or the story of ourselves that we wrote. I found all that to be true a I read this wonderful book.

I was caught up between Roxanne and Claudette as I read, and I was so emotionally invested, I can not come up with other words to say how much I loved and appreciated this novel. Wonderful character development and heart felt emotions. Loved it!

The writing was amazing, and the author certainly brought a beautiful story to life in many ways. We all need to read this I believe. Do not pass it up! I highly recommend this must-read book!

I enjoyed reading this story. This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up this author. One of the things I enjoy is how she uses details to make me feel part of the story. This is a well written story about Roxanne and her job of caring for Claudette. Claudette has one dying wish and that is to spend her last days in a house she loves being in. These two bond over stories. Now Roxanne is questioning herself and even the fictional characters. What happens next in this story you will want to read to find out. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the start. I enjoyed these characters and how connectable they were. They are strong, supportive characters that made the story for me. This is a fast paced story that kept me coming back for more. A fast paced story that kept me engaged and I wanted to know more. I enjoyed the growth of the characters as well as the growth of the plot. This is a story that is hard to put down. You don’t want to miss this story for sure. This is a beautiful story. Roxanne is recovering from the loss of her husband and son. She is offered a caregiving position with Claudette Grayson, a famous author that she idolizes. Little does Roxanne realize that she has walked into a magical mystery that will change her life forever. Full of intrigue, romance, suspense, mystery and a bit of enchantment/time-travel, the story will grab you by the hand the minute you start it and pull you right in. You will find that you must know what happens after every page. I couldn’t put it down. Phillip is the mystery man of intrigue and I had to know who he was and what was going on. The story is so well-written. Claudette is so set on her story being finished that you can’t help but wonder why. The mystery of who Phillip is and why he is is a primary question. The intrigue of what happened between Margaret and Phillip? So many questions to be answered. I love the plot twists. The plot even flowed smooth for having a few diversions. The characters were well-intertwined. Every one had their individual part but also played a key role. I didn’t see Renee’s surprise coming. I found that the trapped in time/enchantment theme worked really well. The climax of the book played out well. I wasn’t too sure at first but as it was explained, it all came out so well. A great book that I feel many will love. Highly recommend.

We are given a touching novella about fighting to find the light and happiness even when you are dealt a hand that is dark and full of sorrow. This is my second read by this Author and I really enjoy their righting style, again they deliver in originality and touch on cultural history.

The Author will have you feeling every bit of anguish and hope as we are told Mercy’s story from her POV. We follow Mercy throughout her life and through her difficult journey of breaking free from her generational curse.

This Author amazes me with their attention to detail and descriptions, as well as their talent of writing about sensitive topics with care and relatability.

Short novel, with big impact!

I generally enjoy feminist gothic horror and this book is no different. It’s more or less a novella given its short length. I really just wanted more pages so that there would be more depth to the story, as some parts of the story felt a bit rushed. Still, the writing was beautiful, and I enjoyed the magical realism as well as the themes of intergenerational trauma and grief. A haunting but moving story.

Weep, Woman, Weep: A Gothic Fairytale about Ancestral Hauntings by Maria DeBlassie – Review by YellowTulips11

I was very intrigued by the premise of the story of a woman fighting and resisting the constant haunting of La Llorna. As a child, I too, grew up hearing the tales of the woman in white weeping for her lost children by the river. I couldn’t wait to see where this story would lead.

The story takes place in the town of Sueño, New Mexico. I was immediately drawn to the friendship and solidarity between the two characters, Mercy and Sherry. It made me think of my own childhood best friend and I related to the characters’ growth together. I wish the story delved a little deeper into the personal journeys of the girls as they faced the many challenges in their lives. I clearly understood the many emotions Mercy had throughout her life during her times of strife and grief and found myself rooting for her success as the story progressed. Sherry’s story wasn’t as detailed and I found myself wanting to know much more about her life and everything going on inside of her.

Due to the short length of the book, parts of the story felt rushed. I had a hard time following the story at certain points, as the storyline digressed multiple times in the same paragraph. Mercy bounced around a lot as she described things and events. It was then I realized the story is written as if you are having a conversation with Mercy and she is telling you the tale herself. Just as the stories of La Llorna are passed down verbally, generation after generation, Mercy was passing her story down in the same verbal context. I felt the connection to “Weep, Woman, Weep” just as I felt to my own ancestral stories from generations before me. It definitely left me wishing the story was longer with more details of the characters’ lives and a glimpse into the future and how it turned out.
