My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mia and Gumshoe are back in another mystery – in addition to the ongoing mystery they’re working on to find what happened in Gumshoe’s past. This is another fun, quick YA read in the Gumshoe mysteries, and so much better if you read book 1 first to understand some of the connections.

Mia, Gumshoe and her friends have been invited to a quinceanera for their friend Tiffany. It’s such an important part of culture and gives you a look inside the beautiful dresses, the food, dancing, fun at a celebration of growing up and leaving childhood behind. In the midst of all the fun, a murder occurs! Will Mia and Gumshoe be able to solve it so it doesn’t completely destroy such a big day for Tiffany? Will they be able to find more clues as to what happened to Gumshoe in his detective past?

Another quick read with a lot of interesting ideas to follow, I really enjoy these YA reads even though I’m well past my “Y” part of the “YA”. The banter between the two leads is a lot of fun and the things I learned about the customs of a quinceanera were really interesting. Well written and a lot of fun to read!

The adventure continues! After reading the first book and enjoying it, I wanted to see where this next mystery takes us. Mia’s friend is celebrating her Quinceanera but as planning festivities are occurring so is murder! Mia and Gumshoe are on a mission again to try to solve why bodies keep adding up before it ruins her friend’s special birthday celebration. Witchcraft, mystery and cats all rolled into one. Again great mystery story and coming of age tale!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second book in the Gumshoe series and I do recommend reading the books in order so you can fully enjoy the characters and their development. The is a YA cosy mystery but I have to admit with the intrigue, danger, mystery and twists and turns I was just as gripped.
I also loved the paranormal twists in this story of the detective solving the cases being a young witch and her familiar cat which is also a reincarnated private detective. It added such a nice twist to the story and makes it more understandable as to why a cat and a young girl find themselves solving Mysteries and getting into danger.
In this story it is a race against time as Mia and Gumshoe try to solve and stop someone trying to destroy Mia’s friend Tiffany’s quinceanera to celebrate her turning 15.
After Gumshoe witnesses a murder he needs Mia’s assistance to figure out who is behind it and why. As the bodies start to pile up the part of sleuths need to use all their skills and knowledge as they are sent on a dark trail of deception and corruption.
Can they stop the person committing these crimes before they destroy Tiffany’s Quinceanera? Will they learn anything more about Gumshoe’s past life and why they were murdered?
This is a fast paced engaging story that will entertain readers young and old.

This is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries series. I would recommend reading the first book prior to this one, it’s a great introduction to the characters and their ‘circumstances’.
Short but not lacking, this fun young adult mystery is engaging and an easy read. I love the well-written characters, their relationships and the banter is fun and light and Gumshoe is a particular favourite of mine.
The plot is unique and interesting and even though it’s geared towards younger readers, it’s still entertaining for older adults. The writing flows nicely and is easy to follow making it an easy read.
I can’t wait to meet Mia and Gumshoe again!

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 2) by Laura Hawks. I love this series. Its so fun and full of mystery and friends. Its the continuing story of Mia and her cat Gumshoe. It all begins when Mia and her friends are invited to their friend Tiffany’s Quinceanera. They are so excited and begin planning on what they are wanting to wear. While at the party someone is murdered and Mia and Gumshoe have to figure out who did it so Tiffany’s day won’t be spoiled. Since Gumshoe can be two places at one time being a ghost cat he listens to all the towns people when they don’t realize he’s there. Along with this and Mia’s witchy skills they work together to solve murders and they better get on it quick because there are more and more murders occurring. I do recommend reading the first book before this one to learn about all the characters. This is a fast paced young adult magical story!

I loved the first in this series. That said I did enjoy this one but not as much as the first. These are not stand alone in the sense that if you don’t read the first one you’ll miss a lot of details that help you understand more about Mia and Gumshoe. This story is still fun and entertaining, it didn’t hook me like the first one did.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Be sure to read this series in order so you don’t miss the important groundwork laid in the first book. There will likely be a bit of confusion reading this out of order.

Another fun young adult read. This time, Mia and her friends are getting ready for a Quinceanera for Tiffany. As they are doing this, there is a man who is murdered and dumped into the nearby water hole. Mia, along with Gumshoes, help the police to solve the “whodunit” of this mystery.

I enjoyed this book but felt that it lacked some of the pizazz that attracted me to the first book. I would have liked to have seen more development of Mia’s newfound powers. I feel like it was glossed over in this one.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great YA read. I loved that it was written around the beautiful ceremony of the quinceanera. The tradition of the coming of age ceremony for Mexican American’s is such a special day, and thank goodness Mia was intent on making sure nothing spoiled her friend Zoey’s special day. Mia, a witch, and Gumshoe, a ghostly inhabited cat, work together to solve a murder mystery. Gumshoe has the advantage of being in places where he can hear the gossip of the town and nobody thinks twice. This story is full of action and twists and if you are into the paranormal – this is your read. I think this would be a good read-a-loud for parents of tweens, one you can do together.

I absolutely enjoyed this tale. Right as the book starts, it pulls you into the action and mystery regarding our hero Mia’s cat, Gumshoe, her familiar. I had not read book one prior to reading book two, but I felt like the author did enough of a recap, I was able to figure out what had happened in book two, without it feeling forced. I do definitely want to check out book one to see how it enhances this story. I thought the author tackled some really tough issues in this novel and again did it smoothly and in an engaging manner. I felt the story was fast paced, full of suspense and twists, and action. Mia was a great heroine who is working hard to help Gumshoe discover his past, finding herself and her path, all the while getting involved in mysteries and murder. I absolutely recommend this book for both teens and adults.

Gumshoe Goes To a Quinceanera is book 2 in the Gumshoe Mysteries and I loved this story. The magic is back with a murder mystery with Mia and the lovable Gumshoe the cat. This book was easy to read, fun and hard to put down…..I devoured this book! I would very highly recommend reading book 1 in the series as you get to know the characters from the beginning.

Mia and her “squad” were all invited to attend a Quinceanera for their friend Tiffany. Beautiful dresses, wonderful food, dancing and friendships should be the focus…but someone is murdered during this beautiful event. Who is bold enough to take a life during a Quinceanera? Mia and Gumshoe are piecing together clues on whom may be responsible for this act….but this is not the first murder on their minds as Gumshoe was a witness to another prior….are both of these murders tied to each other for some reasons? Will Gumshoe and Mia be able to solve the mystery before anyone else is hurt? Will Mia’s promise also to help Gumshoe piece together his own past life come with any clues..

Definitely read and find out. I am really hoping for another book in this series….

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries Series and is a wonderfully written YA that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. This was the perfect book to read as the weather is cooling down. The characters are developed, creative and relatable. The storyline flowed so well there’s even a few twists that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out. I breezed right through it in on afternoon. Gumshoe is back at it again but this time she’s trying to solve the mystery before the fifteen-year-olds birthday party is ruined. Can they solve the mystery before it’s to late? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries by Laura Hawks, and is the first book I have read by this author. I found it easy to read and it was a very entertaining story! It was a fun, cozy, mystery with a touch of paranormal activities that is a good read for the young adult genre. I found the dialogue between the main character and her buddy Gumshoe to be very entertaining! Mia (main character) keeps finding herself in the middle of an adventure and all she wanted to do was enjoy her friend’s quinceanera. One thing I was very impressed by was the ability by Laura Hawks to write a plot that keeps you engaged and guessing. I was impressed by the book and I look forward to going back and reading the first book in the series, as well as any other books by Laura Hawks! I hope you all will enjoy this book as much as I did! Happy reading!

Wonderful book. I did not read the first book, and while I was able to follow along, I do recommend reading in order to meet all the characters. The relationship between Mia and Gumshoe is so fun to watch grow and the banter between them is entertaining. This is the first book I have read that even mentions a Quinceanera and I found that refreshing and a great way to introduce different customs and cultures to others. Following along with this duo to discover who the murderer is will leave you laughing, and anticipating what comes next. A truly fun and fast read for all.

By: Laura Hawks

This is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries. I have read both and both are absolutely amazing. These are such a fun, cozy, YA mysteries that feature some paranormal activities. I definitely love that these books feature fantastic dialogue and a main character who is always finding herself in the middle of an adventure. One thing I will say is that Laura Hawks knows how to write a plot that keeps you guessing. I definitely loved the element of suspense that was found throughout. This was an absolutely fantastic book and I love how Laura Hawks has further developed both Mia and Gumshoe from the first book. I felt like there was more character depth in this book than in the first one. I definitely am looking forward to continuing this series!

This book has everything. It is a young adult book, so teens are the main characters, aside from the title character. There is a quinceanera, so readers learn a bit about this special tradition for young Latina women. There are some serious issues that teens (and even adults, too) deal with. I really liked how the author handled this sensitive subject matter.

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceanera is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries series. This YA story is fun and is an original storyline. The crazy talking cat with attitude is back and just as with the first book made the story it is a refreshing change of character that had me laughing out loud.

Mia attends her friends Quinceanera but nothing ever goes as it should. One murder turns into more and Mia and her familiar Gumshoe are drawn into a dark world where corruption and betrayal are the name of the game.

Once again Gumshoe the cat takes to the fore with his wicked sense of humour and crazy ways to help Mia uncover the plot of the murders taking place and unravel the mystery surrounding them.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced twisty action filled mystery and absolutely love Gumshoe as a character and his trusty partner Mia.

No matter your age Laura is a fantastic storyteller and definitely one author that should be on everyone’s TBR list.

I can’t wait to see what comes next in the series!

This series is a must read you WILL NOT be disappointed. Make sure to start with the first book Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms.

This is a story that is entertaining from start to finish. Read it to find out what happens.

Gumshoe Goes To A Quinceneara is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries series. It is a YA cozy mystery that continues with the adventures of Mia and her sidekick Gumshoe. If you have not yet read the first book, I highly recommend that you do. It introduces the characters of Mia and Gumshoe, gives their backstory, and how they met. This time around the two are trying to find a murderer before he ruins her friend Tiffany’s quinceneara. Mia and Gumshoe come face to face with the sinister world of corruption as they track the clues.

This was another great book in this series with a fast-paced and intriguing storyline. I fell in love with the characters of Mia and Gumshoe in the first book. I love the relationship that Mia and Gumshoe have and got a chuckle out of the banter between them. This book had action, mystery, murder, mayhem, magic, suspense, drama, and twists and turns that hook you until the end. I highly recommend this book!

Like my review of book 1 of Gumshoe Mysteries, I found this book to be better engaging for the middle grades crowd, instead of the targeted YA audience. I appreciated the insights to all the intricate components of a quinceanara, and thought Mia’s fears about school shootings were realistic yet poignant.

My favorite parts of the book, akin to book #1, was the banter between Mia and Gumshoe, and the words/phrases they use (and misunderstand each other) due to the centuries of age difference between the two. I eagerly await for book #3!

A story that pulls you into the dark world of corruption. It has suspense and twists and turns you don’t want to miss. Gumshoe Goes to A Quinceanera is the second book in the Gumshoe Mysteries series by Laura Hawks. Having read and enjoyed several of Ms. Hawks’ books previously, there was no question that I would be passing this by when it released, as I knew it would be a fun read.
It is a YA cozy mystery, with paranormal elements, humour, banter, action, adventure, whimsy, secrets, corruption, friendship, and intrigue. The story was well woven, suspenseful, and entertaining- and even though it was a little predictable in parts and is targeted towards younger readers- I still really enjoyed it.
The characters are cleverly crafted into fully realised individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. The story is original, with a great pace and a smooth flow, making for an easy read.
As I have said before, Ms. Hawks always manages to intrigue me with her clever storylines, and this story was no different. I loved meeting Mia in the first book, and especially Gumshoe- who really steals the show, every time. So I was looking forward to catching up with them again and enjoyed following them along on this second adventure. Now I am forward to seeing what they get up to next.
Well worth the read!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, Laura Hawks!

Another winner with this adventure for Mia & Gumshoe. Mia is trying to fulfill her promise to help Gumshoe find out what happened to his family. Along the way, another adventure involving a party. I just cannot put these books down. The last one (Gumshoe & The Mysterious Mushroom) and this one are sooo good that you want to read them in one sitting. They are entertaining. Gumshoe can only be understood by Mia. She has learned she is a witch and he is her familar. I laugh at their interactions. I have been reading this too my grandson and he has been chuckling too. He rarely laughs but he finds Gumshoe is funny. The cozies are perfect for the teen/young adult crowd. I’m an old lady and I love them too. I can’t wait for the next one.
