I loved reading the story Havall 16 by A. J. Ullman. It is a book that includes action, danger, and made me think “What would I do in the same situation?” I loved the storyline and the characters. Two of the really interesting characters are Tommy Canada and Havall 16. The story is one that would be considered sci-fi and had me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. The author does a wonderful job of making the story and the characters come alive. This is one book I didn’t want to put down. I have always loved sci-fi books, so this is a story that was both interesting and intriguing. I found that the end of the book came too soon. What does the future hold for the characters? Read this book to find out! I highly recommend reading it.

Whoop got to love me a little bit of sci-fi and time travel, honestly, they are right up my alley, my jam on toast, cannot tell you the amount of book I have in this genre littering my shelves. As you can probably guess I was dead excited to get into reading this and as tickled pink when I did because it is all I hope for and more. Ullman has truly worked magic here, making something that has been done a considerable amount feel new and fresh. I literally couldn’t put this town, every time I reached the end of a chapter, I had this desperation to find out what happened next. I’ll admit it caused a lot of injuries as I walked into various bits of furniture, trying to read and pretend to be doing something slightly resembling housework.
Tommy and his partner Win are on to a winner (couldn’t resist) in the fact that they have worked out how to solve the pesky little issue of mortality. They’ve hit the motherload and are quids in for a nice cushty future, full of fame and boatloads of money. However, Tommy receives a visit from Havall 16, who happens to be from the future that Tommy and Win’s invention has created and it’s not super great. She wants him to stop what he’s doing, ending all their research and production before it can have a chance to take off and create a world where so many people live in poverty. This story deals with some interesting, thought-provoking topics, such as our mortality, the fact that something has to end, is what makes it so precious and wonderful and that immortality sounds great when you have a cushty life to live forever.
This is a really awesome write that I highly recommend to anyone, you won’t be disappointed.

I want to start this off by saying i don’t usually read Sci-Fi, But this took me on a journey, and i was hooked from the very start of this book. The blurb and cover art caught my attention, and suffice to say, the author sure knew how to keep it. This book is definitely one of my new favorites, Having deeply reminded me of some of my favorite series when i was younger. I absolutely loved this book, this authors attention to detail, the character development, all of it from start to beginning! I recommend this book wholeheartedly, and can’t want to get my hands on more from this author!

Havall 16 by A.J. Ullman is an adventurous dystopia book. This is my first book by this author but I don’t believe it will be my last. The story tells of a society where some have everything they could want or need while others have close to nothing. What happens when someone from this society travels back to try to change the mind of the man who ends up creating this existence. The story is well written and very descriptive. I could envision everything that was happening. I also enjoyed this different take on how a society could change so drastically. The messages are very timely and well thought out. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Havall 16 by A.J. Ullman was a really good read! I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. Going in, I wasn’t sure I would like it all that much. I enjoy sci-fi books tons certain degree, but they are nowhere near my favorite genre. This book completely grabbed me and held me. This storyline and plot was completely fascinating. The whole novel felt very well researched and not even far fetched as far as sci-fi ideas go. I felt like the events that conspired could definitely happen in the future. The character were great and well likeable as well. This novel also had some surprising twists that I very much enjoyed. The only complaint I have is that there’s no sequel! I want another installment!

I was pleasantly surprised with this novel. The teasers and blurb peaked my attention, even though this is not my normal go to for a genre. I really enjoyed such a unique storyline that Ullman has created. It reminded me of all the sci-fi movies that I have really enjoyed, and it read like a movie too. In the book we find a world with social classes that are on the outside pretty self explainable but are really more in depth and of course has ramifications that will affect everyone. We have the Havalls, and the Havenots. Havall 16 had decided to go back in time and work to stop things that made this social class possible. The adventure has just about everything you could want in a sci-fi read and will keep you on the edge of your seat as you read and cheer Havall 16 on. I would be interested to see if we get any other novels with the same story idea as this one, I am sure it will be great.

Racing against time with Tommy and the others will keep you turning the pages until late into the night. What would you be willing to do to prevent something terrible in the future? You truly do not know until faced with that decision. I cannot wait to read more from A.J. Ullman. This is an absolute must read!

This is a great Sci-Fi adventure that holds attention from start to finish. A. J. Ullman is not a new author to me. I always grab his books because I have not been disappointed yet. The characters are fully developed. They are multiple layers to each character. You can see where they stand and keep you entertained. Ullman’s characters keep your attention and I could not put it down until I finished the book. The plot line keeps you planted in your seat because of the action and mystery that is going on. Tommy the main character has a dilemma. He was ready to launch his business to the public. Everything was put on hold because he received a message from the future. Will Tommy listen to the message or will he continue on his path? I highly recommend this book to find out what Tommy is going to do.

Without a doubt, my favorite part of Havall 16 is A.J. Ullman’s writing. His characters, storyline and unique style really draw you in. Reading his work felt so fluid I sometimes felt like I was tuning in to one of my favorite T.V. shows instead of picking up a book. The dystopian sci-fi and social commentary of Havall 16’s themes were also an added bonus.

This book far exceeded my expectations. I don’t usually read this genre as I’ve found in the past I haven’t been as invested in the plot as other genres I really enjoy, but this one may have just converted my interests. Right from reading the synopsis I was hooked with the idea of this dystopian future where the world had been divided and chaos caused. The plot was both intriguing and exciting and I knew I had to continue reading. The characters are well explored and I feel we really get a sense of who everyone in Tommy’s life is and how they matter in the story. I particularly enjoyed Havall 16’s character, she reminded me a lot of Katniss (Hunger Games) and Tris (Divergent Series) and I loved that as I really enjoyed both of those characters in their respective books. Havall 16 was cool, courageous and captivating throughout the entire story and I feel her and Tommy worked really well together which made their story an absolute joy to read.

There were several moments which I was not expecting, certain people who I weren’t expecting certain things from and was shocked to read. This made for a “can’t put it down” reading experience. Ullman’s writing style was very easy to read and flowed nicely. There is enough description in the writing that you can paint a detailed image in your head, but not too much that it becomes convoluted; which I really enjoyed. The whole book is riddled with “on the edge of your seat moments” and really kept my interest from start to finish.

There are a couple of twists towards the end of this book which I LOVED and definitely did not see coming. No spoilers, you’ll have to work those out on your own. But they were very well thought out and if anything I would have like to know slightly more about them.
I would like the details of Tara and the queries surrounding her to be explored more, there was mention of her not being trustworthy but this was in passing and was not explored again after this and it became unclear as to why Havall 16 might feel that way. I would also have liked to know more about the future world that Havall 16 describes but this is the only criticism I have of this book.

This was a credit to its genre and I cannot wait to read more like this and more by A.J Ullman. Very well done.

This story is a time travel novel and follows Havall 16. There are the Havalls, who pretty much have everything they want and need, and the Havenots, who do not really have anything. Tommy is getting ready to go public with his company until something strange starts to happen. A message from the future regarding his new business and how it will affect not only him, but everyone else as well. Will he stop the future? Will he listen to what is being told to him?

I must admit that I was a bit leary to delve into this book as it really isn’t my cup of tea but I took
the plunge and decided to try. I kept an open mind and I was pleasantly surprised. I found that the author had some unique and refreshing ideas and not as morbid as I was kind of expecting. I found that although sci-fi to be in ways realistic and scarily thought provoking.

I found that the character really came to life and I could feel as though I was right in the drama.
read the book as it wasn’t as scare provoking as I thought more thought provoking. I would definitely read more from this author.

Havall 16Havall 16 by A. J. Ullman

This is a story of a future which only the rich will enjoy and the lengths that people will go to stop it, it starts quoting an experiment by a russion scientist where a pair of rats are let loose in a labyrinth, followed by a cat, the results of which are the most robust rat sacrifices the weaker one so the cat will go for it first and then make it’s escape, however, the cat kills the robust one nad then proceeds to eat both, therefore, only the cat is the winner and in this future there are two factions, the Havall’s (the cats) and the Havenot’s (the rats), one side has everything and one side has almost nothing, but someone has gone back to change this and so the chase begins, but Tommy Canada and Havall 16 are the rats and someone else is the ca.

Tommy and his partner and best friend Win Gault own a company which they are about to take public and tell the world about their discoveries and what it could mean for them, but on April first, he does a wonderful thing for a coworker and treats himself to clocking out early and a stop off at a favourite watering hole. While he is there he and another friend have a discussion about a scientific breakthrough in health care involving nanobots, his friends response is that “We’re not made to live forever” and provokes an interesting train of thought in Tommy, but when he has to swerve to avoid a collision which nearly kills him and he faces the choice of whether to help, leave or kill a mortally injured racoon, he decides to leave it, but this is just the foreshadowing of a future choice.

The next morning, he is back at the helical shaped office and about to have a meeting with Win about the IPO when his chief of security informs him that there is a virus in the computing system and seeing as it isn’t connected to the internet, she has no idea where it has come from or what it will do, so Tommy asks her to find out and report her findings to him, there is no need to worry Win until there is more information. When he gets to Win’s office, they talk about the upcoming IPO and the party that will go along with it, then they talk about the budget and how one area in particular was using ten times more resources than allocated, but his worry was blown off as a typo, the kind of which never happens, so he heads home after a full day of meetings, where his girlfriend is waiting for him, they talk all the time, but don’t see each other in person as much, so after a bit of wine and some food, for them and his two cats, they reminisce and then have a night of passion.

When he goes for a shower the next morning, he finds some writing on the mirror, but when he asks her if she did it, the answer is no and so it is a mystery, a frustrating one, but one that has to be put on the backburner for now. At work, he has another meeting about the virus, another of the tech team has been drafted in to help, but there is nothing else further to report and the rest of the day involved the usual day to day running of the business and this is the same routine, except everyday the message on the mirror changed until on the eighth day someone came through it, a woman and the news she was bringing was one which would change his life forever. She tells him of the future in which his company becomes the most successful in the world, but that it has come at the cost of those who cannot afford it and she has come back to stop this from happening and convince Tommy to help her persuade Win that it is the right thing to do, but that does not go as planned because they find out that the Havalls have a plan to stop them.

Will they be able to stop the future from happening, or will their plans be terminated before they can even start? Will there be fatal consequences to their actions, or will everyone live happily ever after? The only way to find out is to read along their adventure and find out what the future has in store.

….“a future where some have it all, and most have not.”

Havall 16 by A.J. Ullman is a thought-provoking sci-fi, time travel adventure that held my attention from the moment I read the blurb. The story is really well developed with a very original and creative plot, fully realised and complex characters- with a lot of attention to detail which really made this story come to life. It was like watching a movie, the descriptions so vivid that I could ‘see’ everything play out before my eyes. In saying that, this would definitely make a brilliant movie or TV series.
Havall 16 lives in a future where a small percentage of the population have everything- the Havalls; but the majority of the population have very little at all, the Havenots. A technological breakthrough paved the way for immortality, amongst other things- but things are not as rosy as one would expect such a future to be. Havall 16 has travelled back in time to try to right the wrongs before they begin. But how do you convince someone to give up immense fame and fortune, even if it is in the best interests of humanity. What transpires makes for an engrossing read.

Thank you, A.J. Ullman!

Havall 16 by A.J. Ullman is a Sci Fi adventure story. It is a fast-paced dystopian tale that AJ has skilfully woven into a cleverly crafted and intriguing storyline. His writing is so realistic that it draws you in. It is a story that will have you thinking. It will have you asking questions on what we do in the here and now and how it will affect things in the future. It is interesting to read AJ’s work as he puts his whole self, his heart and his soul into his stories. He never settles for anything and he doesn’t settle on just one genre so you never know what to expect.

What would you do if the future comes knocking? Would you heed the message and give up everything you have dreamed of and more?

I am intrigued to see where AJ takes us next.

I really enjoyed this Sci fi, time travelling tale.
The author does an amazing job with with characters and also creating the world of the present and the future. It also covers the theme of rich (Haveall) and poor (Havenots) and how their lives are different.

Tommy Canada is a successful man who is part owner of a company called NORML. Along with his partner Win they are working on nanobots  that means that your body will be able to heal itself. They are on the edge of making it real until Tommy gets a visit from Havall 16.

Havall 16 is from the future she has come back to seek out Tommy for his help. She needs him to close down his business and stop making these technological advances. Even though his future is good with him being wealthy and famous his creations also mean loads of people end up loving in poverty.

Will Tommy heed Havall 16 warning? Will he chose his own wealth and life over everyone elses? And will his partner Win be understand of Tommy’s reasons to destroy everything they have worked for or will he be against Tommy?

Havall 16 comes back in time to warn Tommy Canada not to take his fledgling biotech company public., or else society will be cleaved into two factions: the Havalls — who are young, rich and can live forever — and the Havenots. Tommy has created a nanotechnology that heals people from the inside out. Faced with turning his back on wealth and fame, Tommy must consider his personal goals versus those of society.
Havall 16 asks him, “If you could go back in time and kill Hitler when he was a baby, would you? Kill an innocent to spare millions in the future?” You might, she says, have to kill before you ever become the richest man on earth, before you can solve humans’ greatest fear: dying. Convincing his partner, Win Gault, who owns fifty percent of the company, presents another problem. The future Havalls know Havall 16 has gone back in time to prevent the creation of this technology and they have a plan to deal with her and Win.
Will she or Tommy have to kill? The future is plastic she reminds Tommy. One thing is certain though, as Tommy’s buddy reminds him. We weren’t designed to live forever.
Havall 16 taps into our deepest fears of death and dying as well as global warming and our very current fears of income and medical inequality — a future where some have it all and most have not.
