Queen of Hearts (Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes Vol. 21) By Natalina Reis – Review by Shelly Kittell

Oh, Mimi, aka Queen of Hearts, what web of trouble have you gotten yourself into this time. This book is an entertaining drama. It is full of revenge, suspicion, intrigue, and romance. Alas, nothing is as it seems either. Set in the times when women were seen as property, Mimi (Queen of Hearts) has her own secrets that will come out as the story unfolds. I was pleasantly surprised to see such a turnaround in a character. She is actually a very strong character that survives a lot. She is full of courage and tenacity. Now, Jac, he’s pretty sneaky. He had his own secrets. He was entertaining to read because he flew under the radar. I can’t say I didn’t enjoy seeing Linus get what he deserved. You’ll have to read it to see what I’m talking about. This is a fun story that is well-written and well-developed. I loved the characters and the fact that the story took a whole different turn midway. Fascinating writing!! I highly recommend this story to everyone.

“You’ll always be my Queen.” Even typing those words has tears swelling in my eyes, I think it is commonplace for one to hear such words of endearment and love to be whispered to them. The respect that this author has created between the two main characters, Jac and Mimi is something magical, as is their connection and wanton to help each other in the end goal, along with the trust that is established in such a short amount of time.

This author wove a lovely retelling and as an avid reader, I thoroughly appreciated the quick character development, the descriptiveness of the world in which they lived in, allowing us to feel as though we were standing in the ballroom, or in the Ace, surrounded by others in this adventure. I gulped down this story in no time and am itching for more. Such a brilliant idea, and so well rounded, this author hasn’t let me down yet, and I will 100% be reading more works by her in the future. Heroines are my jam, and these Heels, Rhymes, and Nursery Crimes are exciting!

Queen of Hearts (Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes Vol. 21) By Natalina Reis – Review by Bobbi Wagner

Queen of Hearts (Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes, #21)Queen of Hearts by Natalina Reis
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an author that I have loved reading from the start. I never hesitate to pick up one of her books. One of the things I enjoy about this author is her ability to make the story come to life with her writing skills. Her attention to details make her stories realistic. This is a well written story that is full of action. She is the Queen of Hearts and she is determined to make every man in town pay for what they have done. This is a shorter, fast paced story that I read in one sitting. It is an engaging story that has characters that pull you into the story. They have great growth as well as the plot throughout the story. This is a must read story that you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book and this author.

The King of Hearts

Called on the tarts,

And beat the Queen full sore;

The Queen of Hearts

Nearly fell apart

But vowed she’d be beaten no more.

The Queen of Hearts,

She played her cards,

While poisoning the wine away;

And fed it to every King of Hearts

Who enjoyed chasing

Their queens like prey.

Losing the game of Stolen Hearts is how she gets them to play: the cads, the wife-beaters, the white-slavers. Predators turned into easy prey. It’s no accident that she’s known as the Queen of Hearts by most males in town and she won’t rest until they all pay for their crimes.

Welcome to Nursery Crimes, where tales are twisted and happily ever afters are not always guaranteed….

Queen of Hearts is the story of a victim turned avenger of all women suffering under the rule of a cruel and unfair patriarchic society–and the unexpected love that finds her.

The success of her mission and her own safety now rides on her new partner, but while she trusts him in her quest for justice, trusting him with her heart is a whole other story.

Bound by a common goal and their love for each other, they will either put an end to the crimes against women in town or die trying.

Natalina Reis is an international bestseller who wrote her first romance at the age of thirteen. Since then she has published many romances that defy the boundaries of her genre. She enjoys writing all kinds of rebels and outcasts into her stories and she always roots for the underdog.

Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.

I have just one word for this book…AMAZING! While I have read a few amazing stories from this author, I couldn’t avoid this one even if I wanted to. The cover is just simply breathtaking and the synopsis was intriguing. Upon starting the story you quickly discover great character development, a wonderful though slightly dark fantasy story, and of course brilliant word building. So if your looking for a great new fantasy novel, make sure to pick this one up today.
