A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a couple of books from this author and she always surprises me. This is book number eight of the reluctant wagon train bride series. They can be read as standalones since each book is based on a different woman. I love a good historical romance but this author exceeds my expectations every time. I couldn’t put this book down until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Dorothy Mason is still grieving her dead husband after five years and she vows to never marry again. She is becoming really depressed so she needs to figure out how to start a brand new life. Dorothy has a crazy idea but it might work. She is going to travel on the Oregon Train. When she makes it to Missouri she realizes that she needs to find a new husband to be complete. Will Dorothy find a new husband or will she never love again?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 8th book in the series but can be read as a standalone. This is a sweet marriage of convenience story full of drama, angst, and historical atmosphere. We follow Dorothy as she rediscovers herself after being unexpectedly widowed. This is not a romance I would normally read but I really enjoyed my time reading this historical romance.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 8th book in The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride. This is a sweet historical romance about 2 people who were thrown together by circumstances and managed to find the thing they were missing in their life.

Dorothy has had to learn to be a independent woman since the loss of her husband. She is content to never find love again. However she is lonley and with her home bringing her sad memories she decides to leave it with her dog and head to the wild west in the hopes of being closer so her sister. However her plans change slightly when she comes cross an injured man called Elias Stone.

Elias is a reverend who is settling off to the wild west to spread the word of God. Unfortunately his journey was cut short when bandits robbed him and left him assuming he was dead.

When Dorothy finds him she nurses him back to health and as they talk they realise they are heading to the same place. The more time that passes Dorothy starts to have feelings for Elias but she is confused by them as she feels it is being disloyal to her deceased husband.

When the problem arises that they won’t allow unmarried women to travel on the wagon trail comes to light will Elias step forward to help so they can both reach their destination?
What would happen if a marriage between 2 people for convenience turns into more? Will they both find the soul mate they are looking for or will ghosts from Dorothy’s past stop her from living and loving again.

This was a sweet historical romance with elements of danger and twists and turns to keep the reader hooked. My heart went out to Dorothy for not wanting to do anything against her husband’s memory and her struggle between that and living her life was hard to read, however her strength was amazing and I loved how she was allowing herself to live and find love again.

This story was very well written and the characters were very relatable. I was able to get the story in my mind and it was so endearing. The way they each took care of the other when they were Injured or sick. the fake marriage that they both grew to want for real. I really enjoyed this story. This was the first in the series that I had read but I may go back and read some of the others as well.

A Journey for Dorothy is book 8 in The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride Series by P. Creeden. When Dorothy Mason finds herself wanting to join a wagon train going west to Oregon, she finds that the operator will not allow an unmarried woman to join his wagon train. When she comes across Rev. Elias Stone, who is going west to help lost souls, they see they can help each other. I enjoyed this historical romance. I loved the setting and the attention to detail from the author, to bring that setting to life. I feel like Dorothy and Elias were great together. They are both well-written characters that you can relate to. Their story is very engaging and I enjoyed seeing these two get to know each other. This is a very rich and engaging story.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a sweet story. It shows that you can learn to love someone. That being totally selfless is possible. That when times are hard you have to rely on your people. I found myself immersed into this story and wanting more.

We follow the journey of Dorothy as she travels from Va on to the Oregon Trail, in hopes to meet up with her sister. Dorothy is a widow and shortly into her journey she is faced with decisions she didn’t think she’d have to make again. She didn’t want to make them again. This is where we see how times have changed for traveling as a woman. But back then it was rough going and not ideal, let alone advised for a woman to travel alone.

Elias is a man of God and is about to travel West to bring the word of God to as many people as he can. When a dire situation leaves him with no funds and no way to continue his travel. That is until Dorothy saves him, in more than one way.

Read this story to find out how they save one another.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride Series) by P. Creeden. I love this series so much and I’ve enjoyed getting to know each bride thru this series. In this book we meet Dorothy a widow who has lost her husband about 5 years ago. Dorothy is a volunteer nurse after working in the field for 25 years. He best friend is now her dog Scout and she is quite lonely but can’t see life going on after the death of her husband. Her sister talks her into joining the wagon train west to start a new life and get over the loss so she does. Along the way she meets Elias a pastor who has been shot on the journey. She nurses him back to health and they plan to marry to be able to continue on the wagon train because no married couples aren’t allowed. What starts out as a plan to pretend to be married starts to feel very real to them both. Dorothy isn’t sure she can get past feeling like she’s cheating on her husband and Elias knows he has real feelings for Dorothy. Can he persuade her to change her mind?

While this is the 8th book in this series, I’ve only read one other. I thoroughly them both. The author has a way of making the reader feel as if they are part of the story. I was surprised I enjoyed this as much as I did, because historical romances aren’t usually my preferred type of read, but these just have a special way of pulling you in. While the stories are all about finding faith and learning to love, each one is different in its own way. I strongly recommend them if you like historical romances and if you’re a strong believe in faith and finding your way in the world.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is Dorothy and Reverend Elias’ story, number eight of the many stories in this series. I enjoyed reading how these two unlikely people come together. With 2 plans and two people set in motion. These two live very different lives. After Dorothy lost her husband, she just can’t seem to pull her life together. The house is a constant reminder of the love she lost, and a love she will not have again. The good Reverend has seen his share of death, but when it hits close to home he decides to follow God’s lead and move on. So having that in mind what do you think happens next? I recommend you read this series from the beginning. There is so much that goes on with the wagon train, it quickly became a must read. This author is new to me, so is reading historical romance. But… this story caught my interest and I am happy I read this book. The characters are loveable and the writing makes this a fast paced rollercoaster of emotions. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden is the 8th book to The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride series. Dorothy is a volunteer nurse after 25 years of working in the nursing field. Her husband has passed away several years prior and her only companion has been her faithful dog, Scout, whom she enjoys roaming the land with. An opportunity arises for her to move westward on the wagon train heading to Oregon, and she wants to go. But the thing she has been avoiding since the loss of her husband is her only ticket to make this new life possible.

Reverend Elias Stone’s faith calls him to travel from Tennessee to the west to bring aid to lost souls. Dangers along the way lead him to Dorothy and the two of them entwining in what they plan to be a short-lived relationship of sorts. But is that really want destiny has in store for them?

I really adored the strength both characters displayed and trusting in their faith to guide them on their adventure to a new life. Beautifully descriptive, characters were well developed and yet seemed to continue their growth on their journey. For a feel-good, sweet adventure, this story was very enjoyable to read and would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical, clean romance.

I loved the setting for the story, the authors fantastic descriptive language meant I could easily imagine what was going on. The characters of Dorothy and Elias we both so lovely to read about, they were likeable and relatable. A marriage of convenience started their journey together but what follows was so much more.

I have only read one other book by this author, but I really enjoyed it and was happy to settle into another. It is a simple, sweet and clean, standalone romance.
A Journey for Dorothy: The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride is a sweet, heartwarming historical romance story. This captivating tale is fast paced, with plenty of hope, drama, angst, suspense, tension and danger in the wild west. The journey is full of hardships and harrowing plights and so easily imagined due to Ms Creeden’s rich narrative.
Not looking for love after becoming a widow her heart is still broken but needing more Dorothy sets off for a new start, but she quickly realises that marriage even one of convenience is what she must do. Reverend Elias has a calling to go to the wild west. However, he finds himself in strife before he even steps foot on the Wagon Train. Will he make the journey or will all be lost before it even begins.
Ms Creeden’s writing style is interesting with wonderful characters. The plot was well done, and the characters were well thought out and well written. They are relatable, and real that I was invested in them and their journey.
With twenty brides there are lots of stories to come. I look forward to reading more books in this delightful series.

Having read a previous book in this series, I was looking forward to discovering more. This book is a sweet and lovely historical romance story. I really connected with the characters in this book and loved watching how they developed. Their relationship didn’t have a typical start but it was great to watch them grow as their journey went on.
I don’t always enjoy clean romances, as I can find them a bit boring. But the author of these books creates stories that are interesting enough to keep my attention. I have enjoyed the couple of books that I have read so far and I am excited to see what else is in store.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An enjoyable and engaging historical romance which kept me captivated throughout. Although it’s part of a series it can be read as a standalone story. Each one is about one of twenty brides who have to marry in order to travel to Oregon on the wagon train. Dorothy Mason is a widow looking for a new start moving from Virginia and travelling west to Oregon. It’s not until she arrives in Missouri that she discovers that to travel on the wagon train she must marry again. Having sold her old house and everything she owns, Dorothy has no choice even though she had decided never to marry again, due to her broken heart. Reverend Elias Stone believe’s in bringing lost souls to the Lord, and feels that it’s his calling in life to help those that are lost and moving out west in search of gold and riches. He arranges to join a wagon train heading to Oregon and California but before his journey begins he finds himself in a harrowing situation, that nearly ends his life and potentially stop him from travelling.

His only option is to consider marrying a woman he doesn’t know, but he thinks maybe it’s God’s plan. Elias and Dorothy marry with the understanding they will get an annulment once they reach Oregon. However, having spent the long journey together maybe their plans will change, especially if they end up falling in love. This is a heartwarming, sweet romance with an intriguing storyline and wonderful characters. Both Dorothy and Elias are likeable and relatable, and I loved how their relationship developed throughout the story and their connection really came across. The setting was brought vividly to life through the descriptive narrative and the added historical details transported me back to the era, and I felt as though I was travelling alongside the couple on the wagon train. I look forward to reading other books in this series.

Very sweet historical and christian romance. I can’t imagine Dorothy’s pain in losing her husband so young, but her faith in God has her pressing onward and on her way to visit her sister. She uses her gifts as a nurse to help Elias, and he in turn ends up helping her and from there the romance between them starts to ignite. They both love the Lord and follow his teachings even in their relationship. It was so interesting to read about the Oregon trail and their journey, along with Elizabeth and all of the many obstacles they faced along the way. I was really drawn into the story and really happy with the outcome.

Dorothy Mason holds on to memories of her late husband Peter while trying to live her life day by day. With letters exchanged with her sister, Dorothy decides to venture out west to be with her sister and family. Elias Stone’s calling in life is to spread the word of God, that leads to a decision to head west to spread the word. When Elias’ journey goes very bad, Dorothy and her dog Scout, save Elias’ life. Building on getting his strength back to make the trip, Dorothy also wants to venture out West as well but is told she does not have permission unless she is married due to her safety. When Elias proposes marriage to Dorothy so she can make it to her family as well…what leads from a marriage of convenience to a very long journey that tests their wills, strength and illness…will Dorothy and Elias love each other through the hard journey ahead….

Definitely read and find out. This story was fantastic…the journey…the faith…the love between Elias and Dorothy was pure and authentic….. I am definitely circling back to the rest of the books in this series. Very highly recommended.

When Dorothy gets a letter from her sister, she decides that maybe she can make some changes in her life. Along her journey, she meets a man named Elias and together they forge a way to Oregon on the wagon train. Can their relationship sustain the rocky hills or will there be an annulment in the future?

What a beautiful love story. Two people heading out West with basically their faith in God. I found this a wonderful story with it’s faith intertwined in the story. Dorothy and Elias are both strong characters that go through a lot and come together in this beautiful story. I love strong writing that is big on faith and inspirational. Those are two items found in this story. Elias does a lot of preparation for this trip to make sure it his calling. Dorothy kind of flew by the seat of her pants, not by her choice. The story showed us that God works in miraculous ways. I recommend this one.

The True Purpose of Vines (The Winemakers Book 1) by Giovanna Siniscalchi – Review by Rebeca Elliott Figueiras

The True Purpose of Vines (The Winemakers #1)The True Purpose of Vines by Giovanna Siniscalchi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Winemakers series. It’s a historical romance which is one of my favourite genres and I was not disappointed.
I enjoyed the way the author wrote this; it was descriptive enough to transport you to Portugal of the past and easy to follow. Research into the era and backdrop of the story was evident but did not feel like I was reading a research paper, it added realism to the story presented.
The characters were great – believable and engaging I was rooting for them beginning to end. Julia and Griffin’s interactions were entertaining from their first meeting and the chemistry grew from there.
Julia was written as a strong, capable and independent woman. Her determination and love for her family and her craft is clear as day and I admired her drive and resilience.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Upon her arrival, she never expected to have her guardian residing in her home. If she considered him at all, she imagined him in the background, guarding her interest from afar as he had in the past. Nor did she expect to find her aunt by marriage apparently in charge of the household. Adding to her dismay, her aunt’s relatives were dwelling in Hill House as well.

Most disturbing of all, Vanessa found signs of a ghost dwelling in the house too, filling her with unease and dread.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Greta Fay is standing up for what she believes in and it seems to be causing problems in her small town. There are plenty of people that would like to see her be silenced. Christopher is set to marry one of the richest women in the county, Minnie Locke. He is unhappy but reluctantly going through with it to please his father. That all goes out the window when he runs in Greta Fay. Their attraction spells trouble due to her beliefs and his engagement. You can’t help who you love though and this is no exception. This was the first book I read of.this novella series and I enjoyed it. A trigger warning for those that are easily upset by things of this nature, SA is spoken about so do read at your own risk. Otherwise it is a well written and put together short story. I do wish it were a little longer, but even still I didn’t feel like anything was missing. If you are looking to just pass the time and relax with a good read this book will get you through. I have so far enjoyed this series and had read 3 out of the 5 books and enjoyed each of them. If you choose to read this book, or any of the others, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them. Happy reading!
