Suspicions is the fifth and latest instalment and sadly the last book of the Notebook Mysteries. I have read each one of the books in this series and have enjoyed them immensely. I suggest reading the books in order even though they could be read as standalones. This is definitely my favourite and the best book of the series.
This historical sleuthing story is set in 1880’s Chicago where this multi-layered characters and the storyline is full of intrigue and mystery, suspense and drama, danger and evilness.
Emma once again along with Jeremy are is thrown into the world of crime with some of the vilest people on earth. This one is a little darker than their other adventures as this involves kidnapped children and organised crime.
The story as always is well written and has you engrossed and invested with every twist and turn.
I look forward to seeing where Kimberly takes us next.

I knew this book was going to be a great one when it starts out….

“WHAM! Something hit Emma on he back of the head, and she pivoted toward the assailant. The old woman stopped her by jumping on her back, pulling her hair, and stabbing at her neck frantically with knitting needles.”

I do know how to knit but I prefer to crochet. This opening paragraph had me from the start and I just had to know what was up with this lady! It really wasn’t too significant in the overall story but still….I loved it!

Emma is at it again with her team of sleuthing family members and friends. This time, there are several children who’ve been kidnapped and it’s up to Emma and company to try to return them to their rightful homes. As they are working this case, other smaller cases come up that they are trying to quell. Many of those smaller cases have ties to the much larger case at hand.

The overall themes this book features are topics such as human trafficking, bigamy, and women empowerment.

This book could be read as a standalone but the reader would miss out on some of the dynamics of the characters. I have really enjoyed this series and this has been my favorite so far. I am looking forward to the next book that should be released later on this year.

This is the latest book in the Notebook Mysteries series and I think is probably my favourite by far. With each book that is released the series just gets stronger and stronger. It was so easy to engaged with these characters again and it fel like I had never stopped reading about them. I liked this story and how it developed throughout the course of the book. There seemed to be a lot going on but the author handled it with ease.
This far into a series I usually find the storylines and the characters start to feel a bit tired, but not so far with this series. This is a fantastic book and I cannot wait to read what comes next.

This is a series that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. Emma is back in this fifth book of the series. Emma is one of my favorites in this series. She is unique, strong and just adds so much to the story. I enjoyed how the author used details to pull me into the story from the beginning. I found this book to be a fast paced, well written, engaging story that is hard to put down. The characters made me feel as if I was right there in the story with them. There is great growth of them as well as the plot throughout. A story that is full of mystery, danger and most certainly takes you on an adventure that you don’t want to miss. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up as her series is that great. I highly suggest reading the previous four books in this series to help your enjoyment of this series and the characters. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is the 5th book in the Notebook Mysteries series and this series keeps getting better and better. The books can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading them all in order so you get the full story of the characters and their growth. We are back with Emma and Jeremy as they are faced with more Mysteries to solve. This books has more than 1 mystery happening which keeps the reader guessing all the way through the book. You never know what is going to happen or what will be uncovered next.
The author does a great job of researching the time period and this has paid off by really bringing the story to life.
With a mysterious case of kidnapped children, a enemy from the past trying to destroy her future and a new target firmly placed on Emma’s back, can Emma and Jeremy solve the cases and protect everyone involved or will these cases prove to be too much for our sleuth.
Emma is a courageous woman who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty to find the answers she needs. Her determination to get to the bottom of each case really makes these stories a gripping read full of danger and drama.

This is the fifth book in this fantastic series by this author. Just as with the previous books, I loved this one as well. Another book I could not put down. I love how the author continues to weave the historical facts into the story in such a way that it is not too reminiscent of reading a textbook. She keeps you on your toes with all the plot twists and turns that she makes. For me, I am a huge fan of mysteries. This is a perfect mystery book as there are multiple ongoing at the same time. It is phenomenal. This is my favorite book from the series so far. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

Notebook Mysteries- Suspicions is the fifth book in the Notebook Mysteries series by Kimberly Mullins. This story brings intrigue and mystery that kept me guessing the whole way through. We follow Emma, and co, on their crime and investigation adventure. Bringing suspense, drama, danger, and tension- this quirky historical mystery had me engrossed right from the outset.
This latest ‘case’ will test Emma like never before, as well as putting undue pressure on her and Jeremy’s relationship. She has faced many challenges over the course of the series, but this time they seem to be that much more taxing on her mind, as well as her emotions. Emma is thrust into the fray with multiple investigations that all grapple for her attention at the same time. Multiple threads play out as we work through the intriguing layers. The past will collide with the future, a wily nemesis who’s bent on a twisted game of cat and mouse, then attracting a new target on her back, as well as the lives of kidnapped children who are hanging in the balance, means Emma is going to have to keep her wits about her if she has any hope of see it all through.
This could be read as a standalone, if you wanted, without feeling like you are missing anything major. But having said that, I highly recommend reading the previous books before starting on this one, as I feel that knowing what happened previously will give you a far greater appreciation of the characters, motivations, and series foundations- and will enhance your reading experience of this book.
Looking forward to seeing what Emma (and the team) get up to next….. Book #6 can’t come quickly enough.

Another fantastic book in this series. Emma and her friends solve three mysteries in this installment. The mystery & suspense are palpable. The tension can be cut with a knife (maybe even with Emma’s). I love the characters. Emma & Jeremy seem so good together. It’s nice to see familiar favorites. For the time period, it was interesting to see topics such as human trafficking and bigamy dealt with, as well as prison corruption. This is book 5 in the series and this is the first book of the series that I have read. That said let’s break it down. I feel that you could just start with this book and be fine. I however, would recommend reading the others in the series so you can understand the characters and their friends/families better. This book has adventures, thrills, and intrigue all weaved throughout the book. There is the storyline of the main characters but in that storyline is the main theme of the book. It is like getting two stories at one time. You are able to deep dive into the main characters and who/what they have gone through but yet still have the thrill of them chasing after a huge, nasty crime circle organization. The book will have you guessing as to who is doing what, what is going to happen next, and what else could these poor kids go through. I didn’t feel much of a lull throughout this book because it constantly kept my attention with what was happening. I had to keep turning the pages to find out what was going on next. I feel that I wasn’t prepared for how amazing this book was going to be. I also find myself going back to the first book in the series to read all of them. I feel like I will have a better understanding as to what drives the main characters. However, you get a good feel for that in the book, I just liked it so much that I need to know more. I highly recommend this book if you like organized crime, mysteries, thrillers, and just good suspense.

The Romanov Heiress by Jennifer Laam is a wonderfully gripping historical fiction story with plenty of dramatic developments that kept me engrossed the whole way through. This might have been my first read by Ms. Laam, but her passion for history and cleverly crafted story has ensured that I will be definitely be coming back for more of her work in the future.
The author has woven a bold, rich, and lavishly textured story which is full of vivid descriptions that have showcased her attention to detail, all of which results in bringing the era, and story, to life. I can see this making a wonderful television series, or even an epic movie.
This is a story based on the real Romanov family- bringing all of the ‘Anastasia’ feels- but with the authors original and fictional take on the facts. Its full of action, danger, intrigue, suspense, politics, agendas, dark secrets, complexities, and even a touch of romance.
Four sisters have fled Russia in fear for their lives. Olga, the eldest of the girls takes it upon herself to keep her siblings safe from all the turmoil. Not knowing if the rest of their family is alive or dead weighs heavily on them all. They end up in England where they must try to adjust to their new circumstances. Their identities need to remain hidden. But a supposed betrayal means Olga will need to undercover if there is to be any hope of unearthing the truth. What happens makes for a captivating read…. So, if you love historical fiction, the Romanov era, or a gripping storyline- then you will definitely want to get your hands on a copy of this book.

I love history and the tragedy of the Romanov’s the last Tsars of Russia is a heartbreaking tale. The author did an amazing job of re-imaging what it could have looked like had the daughters survived. She was able to perfectly describe how they would have felt living in disguise, in fear of being discovered, and the heartache of losing their parents and younger brother. The second youngest daughter Anastasia is well known, so it was wonderful to get to see the perspective from Olga, the eldest daughter. She has to work to keep her sisters safe and after reading about how a peer of the realm is accusing her mother, a German princess, of betraying Russia, she can’t sit back and let it happen. The author does an amazing job of describing how the former Grand Duchess might feel in this situation. The story centers on the sisters and their bond, but there are elements of romance sprinkled in. It looks like there is going to be a sequel and I can’t wait to see what happens with the other sisters.

This is such a wonderful story. As a child, I loved the animated movie of Anastasia and really have been pretty interested in the story of the Romanov family. So of course I saw this book and knew that I had to read this and it definitely did not disappoint. I love how this is an alternative events timeline as if the girls had escaped and how they escaped. I loved how they managed to escape and stay hidden. I also loved the tales of Olga and all that she did. This really is an amazing historical fiction story that I truly recommend. I read through it so quickly and did not want it to end.

Jennifer’s love of writing comes in the form of writing Russian historical fiction. The Romanov Heiress is her fourth published book and the first book I have read by her. The real history of the Romanov family is a sad tale. One full of heartache and heartbreak. One full of secrets and lies. The Romanov family was the last imperial dynasty to rule Russia.
Jennifer has weaved a most intriguing plot based on Russian history through a fascinating fictional story. Full of interesting twists and turns every step of the way. Dangers lurking around every corner, lost heirs, greed, political power struggles, ambitions, romance, secrets and lies.
There are many emotional elements in this tale with lots of palpable tension, angst frustrations, scared, betrayal and fear where the Romanov’s lives are in turmoil, lives have been destroyed and the future is uncertain.
Now in hiding after running for their lives Olga tries to reconcile the past and what she thought she knew. But she uncovers so much she no longer knows which way is up or down. Through all this she must keep what is left of their family safe at all costs.
It was and intriguing and interesting to read. If you like historical fiction you will like this.

If you’ve read my any of my reviews, you know that historical fiction is my absolute most favorite genre to read. This book did not disappoint at all!

Jennifer Laam is a new-to-me author and I thoroughly enjoyed how she weaved together this story of the Grand Duchesses of the Romanov family. Their harrowing escape by a generous benefactor is the beginning of this story and will lead you until these ladies can finally breath somewhat again. This is a time period that I’m not as familiar with but I feel that the story was captured fairly accurately in terms of the history. I can’t imagine having to live as Olga and her sisters had to in order to survive. Their story is beautifully tragic and I look forward to reading the next book in their adventures together.

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I look forward to seeing what is next for her. A story about four sisters along with dark secrets and a relationship that is even darker. I enjoyed the suspense and the twists and turns that had me sitting on the edge of my seat. This is a story you don’t want to miss. A well developed story that is engaging and entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book.

This was a gripping historical fiction story. The author had done a amazing job with researching the era and all the attention to detail really brought the story to life and made me feel like I was experiencing that time period along with the characters.
This is a story full of danger, Suspense a chance of romance and secrets that will be revealed over time. How are you meant to react when you find yourself falling for someone who is the enemy? Why are they the enemy in the first place? And what connection is there to the Romanova sisters family.

The Romanova sisters have escaped with their lives and moved to England. Olga is the eldest sister and its her job to protect her younger sisters but being in isolation is putting pressure on their relationships. Now the sisters must navigate a new place and start a new life all the while protecting their identities.
When Olga find out that her mother is thought to have given secrets to the enemy she goes undercover as a maid to try and discover the truth about her mum and what her actions mean for the sisters.
This is a gripping read that keeps you on the edge of your seat as the secrets get reveled. I loved the historical detail as it really brings the story to life.

This book is very well written!! It isn’t short by any means. I love the history of it without language so confusing I am lost and can’t follow. From young love to murder and deception to family secrets, all put together seamlessly and in a way that isn’t hard to follow. I will definitely be telling others about this book!

The Letter Carrier by Laurie L.C. Lewis is an amazing historical fiction book. Historical fiction is not in my top five favorite genres, BUT let me tell you, I LOVED this book! Lewis did an amazing job collecting background information for over three years, she talked with Michelle Naget and studied french documents to fully immerse the reader in Michelle’s story. Michelle was not even twelve when Germany invaded her village and tore her world apart making her once peaceful life full of fear and hardships. Michelle and her family faced many challenges but never lost faith. Her steadfast faith inspires me and makes me want to try better with my own faith. I cannot praise this book enough! It is a must-read!

This book is a real page turner. Also, the era of where all the events take place are right on point since it takes place in 1665. The characters are very well done, each character is relatable in their own way based on their past experiences. This book shows you the difference between two extremes of being “a lady” and “a servant” in an established household. I do recommend reading this book, it’s not what I expected it to be in a good way.

This book was such a great read! I’m not one to gravitate towards historical fiction, but this is worth it. Not only is it well written, it’s entertaining. I found myself being able to imagine the time period of 1665 in Scotland. The storyline is excellent and draws you in from the first chapter.

This is a wonderful YA storyline with plenty of plot twists that keep the reader guessing the outcome of the story. The descriptive narrative setting brings vividly to life the historical details of Edinburgh in 1665. I was drawn in the story with Kenna’s adventurous spirit and who killed her sister. Her spunky spirit and will to survive has you cheering her on. This is a great YA historical fiction book that would be great for even adults. I enjoyed the story.

This was a riveting and captivating read! I really enjoyed the mystery, adventure and action packed into this amazing novel! Kenna’s character had a full development throughout the story and really showed her life change from the way she grew up to what she had to endure to get justice. I found this book to be very interesting and a real page turner! This murder mystery really took you back and showed how people lived and how much of a gap there was, and what money could buy in those days. Money was power and those that had it had influence and were able to literally get away with murder! I could not put this book down and look forward to more books written by Rebecca Bischoff. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery!

This was a really good book! This is a YA mystery story, with a hint of romance included. This was an immersive story with characters and a plot that held me throughout while I was reading. This is a new author to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect and I was thoroughly surprised. I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. It was a well written story that didn’t seem drawn out to me. I highly recommend reading it, especially if you enjoy these genres and type of story.
