In 15th Century England and in the time of the War of the Roses where Isabel lives with her parents in rural Suffolk, they are a loving unit and she has no want to leave their side, however, she has come of age and is now told by her mother that she needs to start thinking about her future and the marriage that this will entail. Isabel is shocked and cannot believe that her parents are thinking of this and it makes her anxious and unable to concentrate on her daily lessons, she asks about her intended and is disheartened when no information is forthcoming, apart from that her father is travelling a long way to make the intended match and that it is a good one. As the days pass and her father returns from his travels, he makes the announcement that he has made an arrangement and that she has indeed been promised to a young knight, Sir William, however, when she overhears that it is a match with a family on the wrong side of the War of the Roses, she cannot believe what she is hearing and her anxiety ramps up a notch or two.
As her anxieties increase and the day of her wedding approaches, Isabel’s mother comforts her with words of wisdom, as do the Good Women whom she has grown up around, but she is still a little scared at the idea of her father giving her away to a Lancastrian supporter when all she has known is the Yorkists, but she puts it aside and tries to make the best of the situation. As she approaches the aisle and sees her betrothed for the first time, she is satisfied by how handsome and polite he is and doesn’t let her emotions run away with her as they exchange vows and celebrate with the friends and family surrounding the newly wed couple. The hardest part of it all is leaving her family the next day to travel to her new home, with a trip to visit another relative of her husband, however, tensions run high on the journey, but she keeps her opinions as much to herself as she can, even if this means increasing tensions between the newlyweds.
This continues on the long journeys they embark on as they make their way slowly to their new home, but what kind of reception will they receive and will love be able to remove the barriers the opposing alliances create? In a time of unrest, lies, secrecy and danger, 15th century England is not the easiest place to build a new life, but these young partners do their best to be a good husband and wife to the other in every way, emotionally, physically and mentally as they embark on a new life in this captivating historical romance.

Set in 15th century England, this a cute historical medieval romance. Isabel’s father arranges a marriage for her with to William. William is of the House of Lancaster, who is on the other side of the war, who is the house of the enemy. It was a great story of strangers falling into being husband and wife. The dialect was great. Loved following Isabel as she learned to become a woman, a wife and lady of the house. How she overcame her insecurities and learn her way. The author did a great job with time period descriptions, customs and medieval knowledge in the writing. It was a great story about overcoming the odds.

Set in the 15th century England, Isabel is learning the ways of being a wife as she learns that her parents have chosen her suitor. Sir William is her betrothed and they meet at the altar. Their wedding brings about much pomp and circumstance and it’s obvious that the author put a lot of time researching the customs and language of the times. The rest of the book focuses on the relationship that they have with each other and those around them.
I found this to be a very enjoyable read! I appreciate the historical accuracy woven within this story. I look forward to more stories by this author!

This is one of the first books that I have read from this author and I fell in love with it within the first few pages. The author has such a way with words that I was able to visualize everything the characters were seeing and feel everything they were in that moment. Love in the Roses is the fictitious tale of a knight’s daughter, living life as it very well may have been in 1484. This stand-alone historical romance contains an abundance of marital bedchamber antics. Isabel has never met her husband… Their parents have arranged the marriage. But, when Isabel discovers who her intended is, it becomes apparent that he’s on the wrong side of the Wars of the Roses. As a knight with honour, surely her father would not sacrifice their family to the House of Lancaster. Yet, to her horror, he insists upon the union with Sir William. 15th century England is perilous – betrayal and ruin are only ever a heartbeat away. And death hides behind every door. Adventure through Medieval England in this intriguing story of love battling against all odds. Love Through The Ages is TL Clark’s collection of historical romance books, exploring how love differs through the centuries. I’m excited to see and read other books from this author. I highly recommend this author to anyone who loves historical romances. I was never a fan of them but this book changed my mind.

Set in 15th century England, this book tells the story of Isabel who has had her marriage arranged for her by her father. When Isabel discovers her husband-to-be is on the wrong side of The Wars of the Roses, she is shocked and horrified. Why would a noble knight such as her father promise her hand in marriage to the enemy? With no other option for her, Isabel decides to make the best of her marriage to Sir William. Will their marriage survive all the drama that life throws at them?
I really enjoyed traveling back in time to 15th Century England and felt as though I was there with the characters. I enjoyed following the journey of young Isabel as she navigated her way through the customs of the time-period. I could feel her inner struggles as she tried to deal with the overwhelming emotions she experienced while trying to please everyone around her. How difficult it must have been for her to be forced into a marriage to a man she did not love because that man that was chosen for her by her father. I sensed the raw emotions she was feeling as though she had no choice but to do what was best for their society and for both families. I enjoyed the storyline, the plot, and the world building. This book was a magical read that contained drama, love, romance, and heroines and heroes. I highly recommend!

This was an incredible read! It was so well written, and mysterious enough with the ‘present day’ happenings to keep you coming back for more. I found this book hard to keep down. I found myself continuing to read even when I should have stopped to do something else because I needed to see what happened next. This is a story that won’t soon leave me! This is the first book I’ve read from thus author and I was very impressed. Hopefully this won’t be my last either!

If you take nothing else from my review its that you NEED to read this book. This book was absolutely amazing and I was unable to put it down. This book takes place in two different time periods and each chapter alternates. However, the story is coherent throughout and told so seamlessly. In 1932, two brothers experienced a night that they will never forget. A night that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. This night also will shape their futures. This portion of the book then jumps ahead approximately 10 years later and we see how the boys are living now. Clancy is the brother that seems to get away with everything and has gotten lucky his whole life. However, if you ask him he is sure to disagree. He is easy with the girls, his dad prefers him (well more than his brother which is not saying a lot), and he just overall has it easy. At least that is how his brother Joel views it. Joel’s life was transformed that one night in 1932 and he was left of the permanent reminder of the choices that he made. This reminder turned him into a freak, he received a mysterious scar across his face. The brothers swore not to ever tell what happened that night. However Joel is accused of murdering his father and is sent to jail for the rest of his life. In 1991, Garrison has just lost both his parents in an accident and his grandmother is dying before his eyes. She has been talking a lot of nonsense, but she says something that gets Garrison thinking she is telling the truth. She lets it slip that the grandfather who he has known his whole life is not his actual grandfather. Garrison sets out to find this Clancy, the man whom his grandmother mentioned. However in his research, it seems that Clancy has fallen off the face of the earth. The only link to finding Clancy is through his brother Joel. A man who has transferred prisons multiple times due to his violence. Joel is an angry man and will only give up information and an interview if Garrison can find his love that got away. The story that evolves from these encounters is absolutely unbelievable and amazing! I don’t want to give any more information because I don’t want to give spoilers. I will tell you that I did not want to put this book down. I fell asleep reading it and picked it right up when I woke up in the morning. This is a story that you definitely should not miss.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars Lovely story, but not really enemies to lovers. I found myself bored at times and really struggled to finish it. It was just festival after festival, all they did was celebrate the saints and celebrate the seasons and that’s IT. I felt like there was not really any villain, until the end. I had never read a historical fiction book that was heavy on the history, but you could definitely tell that the author really did research, and I appreciated the nods to our current holidays like Halloween. I found a lot of their practices to be very interesting, like the process for giving birth. What I DID like was how real the author made everything. Like the MC’s first time having sexual relations. It wasn’t all lovely and rosy and perfect like they make it seem in the movies or romance novels. I also did really like the MC, she was very smart and had a way with words that was *chef’s kiss*. And you can really see the love between her and Sir William, they are a very cute couple and I found myself gushing over them. They really are couple goals, always having each other’s back and on the rare occasion they got into a lover’s quarrel, they handled it very maturely. Overall, I gave it 4 stars because although I found the book boring at times, others who actually do really like historical fiction would probably really like it, and it was a good book.

I have deep respect for books which are centered around World War II. They bring out the pain and trauma faced by the people during one of the most horrific times on this planet. This book is a coming of age story of a young girl Michelle, except this does not involve any dates, fashion dresses or admiring eyes. This is a story of a young girl whose family had to endure Nazi soldiers in their home for 4 years. The Letter Carrier is based on the true life of Michelle Naget whose family lived in France, when the Nazis invaded their country and took over their homeland for 4 years. They prayed everyday that the Allies will come rescue them, there is still hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Their unwavering faith in God and the family motto “We do what must be done” helped Michelle sail through those difficult times. The author has done extensive research about Michelle’s life , she spent three years with the lady herself to understand the facts and her life better and pen it down on paper. Huge respects to the author, Michelle and everyone who survived those terrible times during WW II.

I LOVE historical fiction and actively seek to read all the stories I can about WWII. Most deal directly with Germany and viewpoints from those imprisoned in concentration camps. Every once in a while, you find one about another occupied country, written about someone who lived through it. These books are transfixing, heartbreaking, and full of hope all at the same time. The thing is, many countries (Italy and France particularly) were victims of destroyed documents. Those stories that can be corroborated after much deep digging – often are hard to tell and we are very quickly losing the remaining people who can tell the tale. So, when something like this comes along it is brilliant and brave and wrecking, and touching.
The Letter Carrier is nothing short of all of this. It takes place in occupied France during the war and is a true testament to the depravity wrought by the Third Reich and living conditions of those involved. The author does a tremendous job of transporting you to Braquis – bringing sharp focus to the unthinkable things no one should have to live through, and capturing part of your heart in return. I wept for Michelle and her family more than once, but through faith and hope, they lived to tell the tale. Hopefully this serves as a reminder how fragile life is, and brings light to dark times lest we fail to learn from and tragically repeat these lessons.
L.C. Lewis is a poignant writer with a knack for carrying the emotions through the page. I felt what the characters were feeling. I got a sense of an oft skipped over perspective of the war and how truly young kids had to grow up faster than they should have. I am forever grateful to L.C. for capturing the spirit of Michelle, and being able to tell her tale. Brava!

Murder in the lightning room is one of those books that is so different from any other book you’ve read. I’m always excited to learn about history, and lately I’ve been digging into a lot of non fiction books. I was excited to read this as you find out that the main character Cora is living at the time of Nikola Tesla, and working so hard to solve the mystery behind his apprentice’s disappearance. With every chapter I was just itching to find out what Cora would find out next. When I realized she was basically investigating the disappearance I was even more invested in the book. I could barely put it down! I’m looking forward to more of the authors work. The twists and turns and the story telling ability if the author was very vivid! I literally read books just to escape d somewhere and this book does not disappoint!

This was another great installment that just knocks this series out of the park! This was adventurous, and the fun just never stops. I loved the dragon! It added so much more danger and excitement. This series has quickly become a favorite of mine. It gets a little tedious at times but the adventures never stop. There is so much action and adventure. I have loved reading this series and I can’t wait to read the 4th book soon!

This was a fantastic sequel! I liked this one a lot more than the first. Not only did it have more action, but it was emotional (at least to me) as well! The first book I already loved because it was so well written, and while this one doesn’t disappoint in that regard either, this one just had a lot more depth. I highly recommend this series! These books should be read in order, however, this second book had a very in depth summary of the first book so reading the first isn’t strictly required since the author gives you all the background you need for this one.

Each book in this series gets better and better!! The family is all over the place, completely spread out. Kara and her family are staying in her mother’s hometown with family but they aren’t as welcoming as one would suspect. Kara also finds out that she will be married soon. Doesn’t she get a say in this? Sorven is going to Jorvik to see what, if anything, can be recovered from recent adventures. Oh the things that he runs into along the way. Cub is working like a dog in the camp that he’s been committed to. Will he ever find his way out and back to a life of freedom? Finn and Karl are still on the seas battling all sorts of strange creatures. It takes Karl awhile to warm up to Finn’s new way of life but once he does, things start improving somewhat. My favorite part of this book was Finn’s pet! Again, very well written and chocked full of adventure! I’m looking forward to book 4 and more of Kara’s story!

This book picks up about two weeks after the first one ends. As with the other book, there are multiple stories being told at once. Sometimes, it’s hard for me to keep it all straight but these books are SOOO GOOD!!! So, Willa is now married but not without some drama on her wedding night. Men come to exact their revenge on Karl but they are not successful. However, it will find the Kara and her family being on the run to save their lives while Karl takes Finn out on the ship with him. Cub goes with this dad to fight against Alfred the Great. Let’s just say that things don’t go as planned for any of these characters! Between the bears, trolls, mermen, wolves, elves….it’s all up in the air as to how things will develop. I suspect things may not be as they immediately seem though either. I have a feeling the author has something up his sleeve for book three!! While the first book was difficult for me to get into, I’m so thankful I didn’t give up! I’m really enjoying this series to far and look forward to learning more about Finn and his family!

I hate to admit but it took me quite awhile to get into this one. Around 100 pages or so as a matter of fact. I kept getting lost in the multitude of characters. However, had I noticed the family tree at the back of the book before I started reading, it would have helped me to keep things a little straighter.
I enjoyed learning about Thorfinn (Finn for short) and his family. They are in the midst of planning a wedding for Finn’s sister when a dark being comes to their family homestead and attacks one of Finn’s brothers. Finn starts to research and try to find this being and in the end, runs into a witch. We all know they generally aren’t good for anything. When he gets tangles up with her, he finds himself in a whole new world of mystical beings.
Once I got the hang of the story, I found this to be a very enjoyable book! There is a lot of Norse and Viking history covered, of which I’m not super familiar with but I am learning! I’ll be covering this series through book 3 here shortly!

This book has a very relatable, strong, young female main character. She is given the opportunity to assist Nikola Tesla in his secret lab, just after his last assistant has been found dead. She finds Tesla a strange man, but wants to work with him for a good recommendation. She takes it upon herself to help solve the murder of his previous assistant and find some missing paperwork. Good twist at the end. I really enjoyed this book.

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, especially books focused on the WWII era. Although I mostly read books that are focused on the Jewish side of WWII, I have recently enjoyed reading books that focus on other groups that were forced to live through this war without being Nazis. This was the first book that I have read from this particular author, although the topic is one of my favorites, but I found the writing to be vivid, interesting, and well researched. The characters touched me and I felt like I was in the story. This was a quick read for me, but definitely a worthwhile one. I recommend books like this to everyone, regardless of where they live. I would read another book from this author in the future.

I love historical fiction and mysteries, so this book was definitely something in my normal genre. I liked that there were real people in the story that I could connect with what I know about historical figures, but put an original twist on it. I liked that it kept me on the edge of my seat and made it hard to put down. I found myself invested in what would happen next to the characters, especially Cora. This was the first book I read from this author, but I look forward to reading more.

This historical mystery is different than my normal eveyday reads (romance) but I really enjoyed it. It was nice diving into a mystery because I had figure out what was happening along with the main characters. There’s alot of elements to thus story, theres mystery and secrets and some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and well… you can’t forget MURDER. This was one I’d recommend if you like historic mysteries! I liked this authors writing style alot so I will be looking for more books by them in the future! Happy Reading!

4.6/5 stars This was my first book by this author and it was so good! From the first chapter I could tell this book was very well written. The descriptive details that are in this book helped me picture the scenes very easily. The time jump between the 1940s and early 1990s were transitioned very smoothly. I enjoyed reading this book a lot!

Set in year 1899 in Colorado Springs, this book follows the young protagonist Cora work with famous Nikola Tesla in his secret lab . She assists Tesla in his detective work to unravel the mystery behind the murder of his assistant. She faces opposition from her own mother but she hangs on with her friends. It is a well narrated plot and the mystery lingers till the end. It is one of those stories which has a very strong female lead, in the times, when women were struggling to establish their footage. I enjoyed this book quite a bit and look forward to more from this author.

Once again our author knocks it out of the park. I have read this author before and she is quickly becoming one of my favorites, her writing is just simply amazing and she always manages to keep me on the edge of my seat. This book really had a little bit of everything mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and of course murder. While I am not much for the historical genre, our author really grabbed my attention with this one. I thought I had it all figured out but by the end of the novel and the authors wonderful plot twists, I was all wrong. So if you need a good mystery to make you think, then pick this one up today.

To say that Shanessa Glumh killed it with this one would be an understatement by far!
The way the story line is written keeps your attention the entire time. One minute you are in the present (1991), and the next you are in the past! Throughout the book you have three different “mysteries” you are trying to get to the bottom of. But they interweave with one another, so you never get lost.
In my opinion the most intriguing thing was how Joel stayed so silent. He had so much he could have said. Yet, he didn’t.
I definitely look forward to reading more from Shanessa Gluhm.

Well this story felt like it has it all. Historical fiction – check. Mystery and intrigued – check. Interesting characters – check. A great storyline- check. I did not take long at all for me to become invested in this book. I wanted to figure out the mystery and see what was going on. The author really draws you into the book and takes you on the same journey as the characters. I thought the book was really well written. It was so easy to imagine the time and place the author were describing. At times I felt like I could really picture myself there, right among the characters. This book was a great one to read and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Definitely a book worth picking up to read!

The year is 1899 and Cora Croft is seventeen years old, she lives is Colorado Springs and is in the last year of Palmer High School and is hoping to continue her studies in a prestigious university, however being interested in biological sciences and a woman is not going to help, so when she hears about a position as an assistant to Nikola Tesla, she is dubious, but decides to apply for the position anyway. The day she goes to see him, she is accompanied by Marshall, a long time friend and Harrison, a student in her class who is always trying to charm her, she has heard differing opinions on Tesla, but she wishes to make up her own mine, however, the position isn’t what she expected when the tasks are menial, however, when some papers go missing from the lab, Tesla reveals that this isn’t the first time this has happened and that the young man who was found dead the day before was his previous assistant.
This revelation shocks all three of them, but when Tesla announces that without those papers, he might as well just pack up and leave Colorado Springs, so Cora decides that she is going to investigate who has stolen the paperwork as well as look further into the death of the young man which also seems suspicious, so she asks Marshall and Harrison for their help and they agree, although reluctantly. Cora starts that evening by asking Harrison and Tesla questions, however, they don’t know overly much, so she decides to use her societal position to ask around the town and see if she can uncover any pertinent information, while Harrison and Marshall use their own connections to try and find information their way.
Cora soon realises that they might be in over her head when things start to happen and the more she investigates, the more danger creeps closer to her, Marshall and Harrison, but will they be able to solve the mystery before the person behind these nefarious acts comes after them? This is a historical mystery which is full of secrets, revelations and murder where you will be sucked into the investigation all the way until the suspect is uncovered.
