Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance by Carina Alyce – Review by LaBeccah Davis

Wildcat (MetroGen After Hours, #1)Wildcat by Carina Alyce
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To be honest I am NOT a football fan… but I am a fan of women overcoming adversity and killing it through life… Leslie is an amazing character who deserves her happily ever after with her defensive lineman. I love how their romance started as a one night stand and blossomed into so much more because in this he decided to be more hard headed than her! This is a GREAT book with some very steamy parts. I loved it!!

Face the Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 5) by Michele Sims – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

Face the FireFace the Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Face the Fire is the 5th book in the Moore Family Saga. This romantic suspense has brought us a long way. Starting with Cade and Lecia in the first two and moving onto Miles and Bella in the rest, this saga has had many ups and downs. This book can be read as a standalone, but I read it with the rest of the set and I recommend reading them all. Miles Moore won’t stop until his dreams of a music empire are a reality, but Bella is worried about their family. Their two twins mean the world to her. She wants nothing more to help her husband with his growing dreams, but when business collides with family she fears a feud. Competitors can make their life harder and she doesn’t want any bloodshed. Will secrets split this couple and their family up? Will Bella’s work become a problem? Will Miles’s competitive nature endanger their lives? Will their strong family bond support them during these hard times? Their large family has always been there for them, but how about now? Great Saga. Slow going at first, but picks up and keeps you on your toes!

I enjoyed reading this book. The story progressed at a nice pace although the two main characters were quite frustrating with all of the miscommunicating going on. I wanted to throttle them both while i was reading. Gina is a strong willed woman who takes no flack. I think being an army Sargant that has seen action does that to people. But I’m glad Bryce tried to make things work and gets her to listen and work things out. Bryce’s character is sweet and understanding and had me drooling. It is a slow burn book and definitely has you crying out for more. This author is amazing when it comes to writing about army women. I cant wait to read more of her books!

Nite Fire: Smoke and Mirrors by C. L. Schneider – Review by Sarah King

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this third installment, with a new case, Dahlia returns working along side Alex. Sentinel City finally seems to be catching on to the fact that weird and unexplained occur more than in other places which leads to the Unexplained Crimes Unit. The main case in this book centers around the discovery of dismembered bodies, not all of which seem human. This, as usual, requires Dahlia to have to cover things up and lie to those she is working with while working the case using her knowledge of other worlds and creatures. Add in her close friend Casey is not currently himself, the Dragon Queen making an appearance, and her growing empathetic power, the ticking time clock on the infected worlds and the spreading infection. Will Dahlia be able to solve her case? Keep those she cares about safe?
I absolutely loved this book. The writing and character development continues to be spot on as it was in the first two books of the series. The underlying story that carries through the first two books is continued and built on in this book as well leaving you once again wanting to know what will come next. I had a hard time putting this book down. I would recommend reading this series in order, all three books are worth the read.

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga Book 3) by Michele Sims – Review by Jaimie Salmon-Colburn

The Fire God Tour (Moore Family Saga, #3)The Fire God Tour by Michele Sims
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Third book to this Moore Family Saga. Miles Moore (son of Cade and Lecia from book 1 & 2) is all grown up (26) and still obsessed with fire. Ari (aka Miles) is a famous international hip-hop performer who uses fire in his show. It’s in his genes after all. He loves all the things that come with fame like cars, travel, women, and of course all the money. But life on the road away from his large family and the death threats he could do without. When a woman (Bella) who is afraid of fire joins his marketing team he thinks she’s the last person he’d be attracted too and names her Ice Queen. The banter between the characters and their growth throughout the books is wonderful. Can Ari get past his own thoughts and follow his gut? Will fire burn his world to the ground? I really enjoyed this book. I am excited to finish the last two in the saga!

This novel was really enjoyable. Being able to go on Amy’s journey to finding out more about herself and finding her father was fun. The concept of the book was a little different than what I normally read but that made it more interesting. The world that the author created was vibrant and I found myself wishing I could spend time in it. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in reading a paranormal book that is a little different.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first read the synopsis of this book, I was excited to read about this amazing Army sergeant who has left due injuries and turned to crafts such as quilts, and jewelry. I did not realize this was the third book in a series until after I started reading it and I am looking forward to going back and reading the first two books in order to get a little more of the back story. The story written here was detailed enough I could keep up and enjoy the book, but I feel I will love the characters even more after reading the first two books.

It was a very easy read, the story starts right from the first page and instant you are drawn in. A very light care free story that didn’t require a lot from the reader. It was a fun story with depth I was not expecting.

This book was good but I think it caught me at a bad time.
I felt a bit of a disconnect when I started on this book.
Everything about this screamed keep reading and I’m glad I did.
Luckily I read this saga backwards so I did enjoy it but I think I ruined the hype by not reading in order.
Miles is officially my go to man candy.
This is a book of desire and lust and steam and this author is the way to go.
She has a way with this couple that just built and built.
What would you do if you saw your crush naked?!
This was one of the best of the series worth the binge.
I don’t know how to explain this.
A favorite that’s all.
Five stars not to shabby.

Exiled South by Harriet Cannon – Review by Nicole Elizabeth

Exiled SouthExiled South by Harriet Cannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was able to read this book in 2 days! I really enjoyed the unique perspective and twists that it provides. The characters and plot are both well written. It even invoked emotion, making them feel relatable and genuine. It provides a unique perspective on racial conflicts between the North and South in a way that doesn’t feel forced or preachy. I found the atypical perspectives refreshing and eye opening in a lot of ways. She even found ways to weave specific historical details/people into the story, making it not just a generic setting. I’d give this book 5/5 stars. I really enjoyed it.

One line made me think a bit. “Why was the United States so shamed by the atrocities of post- war civilian suffering that they sanitized events out of history book?” Makes me wonder what they’ll say in the history books when we’re all long gone. How much is truth and who chooses what’s omitted? This book inspired me to start looking a little deeper into my own family history after following these characters on their journey. I also developed a bit more appreciation for the standard of living we all have in this century with everything at our fingertips. So many different takeaways, and this isn’t even all of them! This really was a great little story.

Amazing is an understatement each book I read gets better and better.
I did feel like in the middle it dragged just a bit but it’s worth it to keep reading.

In this book, Dahlia Nite and others return. Dahlia continues to work with Detective Alex Creed, this time on a new case. The new to this world drug, Chrysalis. The drug is causing humans to mutate as well as combust in the streets. Dahlia and Alex work well together; I feel because of their differences. Their interaction are so realistic and entertaining. Still Dahlia works to discover who/ what is bringing these troubles to her city. With the help of others with she be able to figure it out soon enough or will others in it for themselves stand in the way?

I thought this book was even better than the first. My favorite characters continue to develop on a personal level as well as in their relationships with each other. It makes it hard to put down. With each new thing you learn the characters speak to you just a little bit more and yet I think there is still plenty more to be learned about each of them. The story line flows well from book one to this one. I do think you would be better off reading this series in order. I would absolutely recommend this book as well as series to others.

After their first encounter doesn’t go well because of a misunderstanding Bryce works hard to redeem himself and he quickly does, but is it ever going to be enough to win Gina’s love? She doesn’t make it easy on him from the start. Gina has things holding her back from truly opening up and allowing Bryce to simply love her. With everything she had been through and all her reservations they press on and something beautiful emerges from the pain she is hiding. I love that this book doesn’t shy away from talking about the hard things like PTSD, there are so many people living with it especially our men and women who have served our country.

I love this series so much. Nite is such an awesome “person”. She tried her hardest to protect the innocent from the creatures of her world. She growing so much from book 1. She’s learning to Trust as her powers grow.
Each book surprises with the type of creatures that get introduced. Book 3 is filled with a few surprises, lots of action and emotions. The ending of this book surprised me a great deal I cannot wait until the next installment to see how it plays out. Creed is my favorite character. He’s tough on the outside but caring and emotional on the inside. Life events have made him hard but there’s still a soft spot in him.

Family, jealousy, EX’s, love, hate, and a baby on the way pave a rough path for these two as they try to start their new lives. I loved the plot to this story the suspense and romance was amazingly written.
I loved the character development that it’s a future story.
This should be a standalone because even though it had the same story line and characters as the rest of the series this seemed more like a past story then six weeks later.
This wasn’t as good as book four or three but this author has a way with words.
It’s great to know that the story goes on with the main character.
I really enjoyed this overall.

Even though this book was a part of a series, it was written in a manner that it was a stand alone! In my opinion, this helps in making it such a good read! It was a light hearted romance with a young single life vibe! I really enjoyed how Gina’s history reflect what some of our veterans have experienced, this is what makes it easy to relate to. Gina has trust issues, rightfully so, therefore it takes a lot for her to open up to Bryce. As far Bryce, he seems like he can’t get enough of Gina or learning about her past. Can Bryce get in Gina’s heart and learn of her dark issues that cause her not to trust? Can Bryce show Gina a world she never knew existed? I suggest reading this wonderfully written book to find out!

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Exiled South is a great book and I can’t wait for more. This story will leave you hanging on the edge of your seat.

Lizbeth is worried when her hisband doesnt answer his cell and he’s late. She thinks he’s been acting strange lately. When the bank calls things change and she’s not sure how much she can take. The quote I chose for Lizbeth is: “I just got off the phone with Dan’s parents. They want to come immediately to ‘help plan’ the funeral. Meaning, they want to take over. Control freaks!”

Highly recommended for Women’s Historical Fiction lovers.

Bryce is the all around perfect book boyfriend, and he stole my heart as much as he did Gina’s. Gina was a lovable character who had a brave façade, but so much inner turmoil due to what she saw physically and remembered mentally. The bombing took away a large part of her, and Bryce is that that person to help her see herself and get it back. Her and Bryce had misunderstandings, drama, and much self doubt to each overcome to obtain their HEA.
This was such a beautiful story, and it was more than just the typical romance of boy gets the girl. The amount of emotional depth and self acceptance in this book spoke volumes.
