States of Grace (Grace Locke Mystery Series) by Mandy Miller – Review by Keri Leach
This debut novel by Mandy Miller had me from the beginning. I instantly fell in love with the main character, Grace Locke and truly felt connected to her on so many levels. Grace has a past that seems to be haunting her while working on the first big case since turning her own life around. Things aren’t always what they seem, especially when you know how the world turns, from your own experience. This book is a must read and most definitely deserves a full five star rating!

This was such a fun read! This Author truly does paranormal humor like its nobody’s business. Each story has you laughing, swooning, and wishing you had your own supernatural life to lead! This story introduces us to Katrina the Succubus and Gabe the Incubus. Katrina is doing all she can to be free from Hell and escape Satan by denying her Succubus ways and being abstinent. Gabe was freed from Hell by Satan, but has now become more peace and love than sex. A very unlikely pair with a humorous rivalry, but fierce attraction.

This thriller is one of the slower-paced books I’ve read, with the plot slowly unfurling the more you read. The further you delve into the story of Grace Locke and her case as she fights for her client’s innocence, the more twists and turns, and the more the author pulls you in. While at the beginning it was a little harder for me to get as invested, but the more I read, the harder I found to put it down. I’m excited to follow the stories of Grace Locke as this author continues with this series!

Three women meet for the first time as roommates in a home for unwed mothers. This book weaves together the women’s stories, including what forces propelled each woman to the home in the first place. A tapestry of women overcoming their circumstances is woven throughout the novel. Readers get to follow the women through the decades to come. I became acquainted with situations I had never considered before. Maybe not every sad tale has a happy ending, but sometimes, there is hope for happiness against all odds.

Five Stars don’t seem like near enough stars for this captivating yet very heartbreaking read. I’m a bit speechless as I set here trying to find the right words to give this story the praise it deserves. This story touches on how many women were treated in the sixties especially the unwed pregnant women. Women were treated in a sense like garbage. These three ladies all end up at a home where they are expected to give their babies away. Each one a different circumstance but these women all had secrets. Oh my gosh you guys this book will take you on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride. My heart hurt for them. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Its one thousand percent worth the read. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Page turner! Crime in its finest. None stop finger pointing, plot twisting scene. Couldn’t put this one down. I love how the author paints a picture so vivid, your imagination will take you with her. Recommend for a snowy or rainy afternoon read.

This was a entertaining light read. I am new to this authors work and I truly enjoyed it. This gives a fun twist to dating apps. With demons and satan and spice. This gives a comedic twist to the supernatural that has you rooting for love. It was great to receive a happy ending in the twist an turns of the demonic world. Who doesn’t love spice time and a good dating app. Taking place in New Orleans it gives a world built on the enticing and the devilish. I would easily recommend this to anyone looking for a new light story that brings your favorite genre of paranormal romance to life.

I had not read this amazing author, until this book, but I am so glad that I got started with this treat. This was the perfect book to end the year with. I loved their writing style, and how the story progressed, the characters were wonderful and everything flowed so well! Loved it!
For me it was each of the characters and the personalities they withheld that made me fall in love so quick. Each had a heart, and different emotions as well as their own zest to what ever level spiciness you would consider them to have. The engagement was very strong with this novel I found, I was hooked very early on and the curiosity and want to know more just continued to rise more and more! As said, flowed through ever so nicely. I really enjoyed the technique and word play of the writing!
Katrina brought on the spice oh so well. And Gabe, his hotness alone could make my kindle swear! I loved his determination and how things seemed to go along and progress between the two of them. It seemed at times they both got more than they bargained for! Loved their chemistry and attractions on every level they had for one another! Really great read and absolutely freaking loved this book and author!
Loved this book, as I have hoped I have made clear. I loved the writing of the author and how the story flowed. The author has now gained a consistent stalker haha. Happy to say this is a must read for sure1 I do very much recommend this book and author highly! Not one to be swiped left!

And another one. The third book in the series and definitely a must-read. It just keeps getting better as the author brings to life great and relatable characters with plot twists that keep the reader thoroughly and immensely engaged. Are you kidding me??? This book was a whirlwind of emotions. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I have so many questions I am so happy I already have the next book in the series because I absolutely need to know what happens to this group of people next. I NEED MORE ASAP. I was so engulfed with this book that at one point my boyfriend was like “hey can you stop reading and pay attention to me” I literally couldn’t put this book down it was THAT good. I am so deep into this world that I couldn’t get out even if I wanted to. I feel fear and worry and intense love it makes my own heart swell just reading about the love that these two share. I am excited but also terrified by these characters all while falling in love with each of them. I do recommend reading the first book in the series as there is a lot to unfold within this Mafia world and the backstory of each character is so intense and deep you just gotta read the books to fully get it all. I have a feeling each book will just get better and better cause I thought I loved the first one but this one I devoured faster than my Christmas cookies after I officially end a diet. There was no stopping myself once I got into it. I may or may not be in love with Enzo myself. The way Mckinley writes these characters there is just no way to not fall in love with them. The men are passionate and strong and overprotective and there is just something so compelling about a man who loves you so hard and will die fighting for you and rescue you in any situation that is just irresistible. And don’t even get me started on these firecrackers of woman in this world. The ladies are strong yet gentle and beautiful. They band together in times of need, fight hard and love harder. I am in awe of these ladies. This series is a must read in my opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Grace has been through so much and she has taken responsibility for her actions and she is climbing her way back to redemption. She is tough, smart, independent, a good lawyer and also flawed as many of us are, which makes her very relatable. As an ex prosecuter she is now in the other side defending a high profile teenager accused of murder. This book is full of suspense, great characters, twists and turns, and much more. The author did a great job pulling me into the story and keeping me entertained. I can’t wait to read what the author has in store for us next.

What a wonderful start to a series! I could not put it down and stayed up most of the night to finish it. Loved the setting in Florida as it made me want to go back and visit. The characters were well developed and very realistic. I’m going to have to read the next book. What a great story a must read.

Reading this book captivated me from the prologue and I couldn’t put it down except to ponder what went on! The author did an amazing job of telling the story from so many points of view. To witness in what felt like real time the tragedy of these women’s lives was drop great breaking. I’m always pinched inside when I hear of women worth such harrowing stories regarding their children. I feel very blessed top have two children of my own. The multiple stories from every perspective really made me happiest while reading this book. It is amazing what can go on in the minds of other people and how perception is everything. My heart was broken to read of the problems women faced in those times. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends!

O.MG. This book captivated me from the very beginning. I was sucked in so fast it made my head spin. The writing was so beautifully done, descriptive, and flowing that it all played out like a perfect movie in my head. I felt like I was there witnessing everything in real-time. There were so many characters to keep up with but I loved every minute of learning about each new character and seeing how they all fit in to create this absolutely chaotic mafia world.
I haven’t gotten too much into mafia romance before but this series is gonna make me want more of it I can already tell just from this first book.
This book was very much a fast-paced page turner with twists I did not see coming which was nice cause I love a good surprise and they just kept on coming. I felt so many emotions while reading this from fear to rage and worry to even love. This book was so good I adored the way the relationship unfolded so genuinely and perfectly. It is one of those relationships where it is just meant to be no matter how you look at it and I cannot wait to devour the rest of the books in this series. Amy Mckinley has a way of writing intense fight scenes that actually scared me then turning it around and write an equally captivating romance scene that makes me feels all the angst and as if im the one fighting to fall for the sexy mystery Mafia guy. Uhhh this was just so good. If you want fight and fury read this. If you want passion and power read this. If you want true love that you’d go to the ends of the earth fighting for read this. Its got it all.

What an intriguing read! This story follows Sandy, Becca, and Faith. Life in the 60’s was so very different from what it is now. These three ladies find themselves pregnant and are sent off to what is called a maternity house. Back then, this is what happened if you were unmarried. You would be shipped off there until you give birth, give your baby up for adoption, and then go back home and pretend nothing happened. And that is what happened with these three ladies – until years later they become victims of a blackmail plot threatening to uncover their secret.

I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the series. Dahlia is a great character. Balancing keeping humans safe and protecting the secrets of her home, while discovering the full potential of her power is a great read. I love her friendship with Evans. The action and emotions in the story will keep you engrossed. I look forward to reading the third installment
Grace Locke is hanging onto life by her fingernails. Recently recovering from nearly losing her job as a prosecutor, and living in a less than desirable place, she never thought she’d have to put up working for the types of people she’s resorting to defending now. Things may be looking up, however, when she gets wind of a possible career-maker case…the only downside is the accused kid is the daughter of the woman who ended her marriage. But once Grace takes the case, she soon discovers things aren’t as cut and dry as the police would have you believe and there are much darker forces at work against her client. This book really hit on topics that make up a great mystery-crime-thriller including complex characters, deep plot twists, and a loveable heroine who doesn’t allow the world to beat her down! Highly recommended!

This was a new to me author and series, and I didn’t even realize this going into it that it was the fifth book in the series. It didn’t at all inhibit me from enjoying the book at all and only really has me want to go back and enjoy the others in the series now. I thought this book was quite poignant given the world is going through COVID-19 right now, so it just hit close to home several times while reading. Our world is kind of falling apart around us and we have a main character who is also experiencing this and taking matters into her own hands and kicking butt. I loved the comedic relief at times that made me feel as if the world was less hopeless for her as well. I look forward to seeing what the other books have for me and what other books may be to come.

Obviously given the subject matter this book may not be for everyone, but the topic was handled very well and truthfully. I’m a sucker for a story with multiple narrators, so that was a plus for me right away. I love reading the different perspectives and how their stories intertwine and build on each other. I would have given it 5 stars, but I thought some parts of the story felt a bit forced. Overall a very gripping and intriguing read!

Nite fire by C. L. Schneider. 5 stars. Amazing story. Writer did and amazing job creating characters. Quickly found myself in love with the main character Dahlia. Highly recommend.
This author has done it again! Another five-star read from one of my new favourite authors! Just like the first and second in the series this third, Born in Darkness, has blown my mind and it was an unput-a-downable read. The author knows how to make her writing addictive and keep you wanting more. The history she gives her characters helps to keep you wanting to come back and to continue to read other books in not only this series but also this author’s other books as well. Although this book is part of the series I feel it could be read as a standalone because of the background of the characters given but I would still highly recommend reading the others in the series! She could write anything, and I would 100% read it! I absolutely cannot wait until the next book is in my hands to read because I will be dropping everything, just like I did with this third in the series, and reading it immediately.

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest book in this series of paranormal romantic comedies. It can be read as a standalone story, however, I recommend reading the previous books as they are a fun read. This story is a lighthearted, funny romance featuring ‘supes’, with an enemies to lovers theme. Succubus Katrina is trying to ignore her demonic urges so that Satan will eventually forget about her, and then she will be free, this means no sex! Katrina spends her time helping the ‘supes’ of New Orleans with their dating by introducing, ‘Swipe Right to Bite’, “the best and only hook-up app for the supernatural”. Then Gabe, an insufferable incubus turns up in Big Easy and ruins Katrina’s plans. Although Katrina tries to get rid of Gabe, she can not deny their instant attraction, and Gabe, feeling the same, is not going to leave easily. I loved the characters, as usual they are unique, likeable and relatable, making me feel engaged in their stories. The chemistry between Katrina and Gabe really came across in the story and led to some steamy scenes, eventually! As usual the descriptive narrative really brought the supernatural setting to life and I felt fully immersed in Big Easy. The great world building, intriguing characters and the funny, romantic storyline all made this a page turner which I definitely recommend.

Having read and enjoyed the previous books in this series I was looking forward to this novel and I was not disappointed. It was nice to be back in the small town of Parker and with the group of friends who live there. This was Colleen “CC” Chandler‘s story, having always lived in her small home town, working as a hair stylist, her unstable upbringing had left her lacking in confidence. When Brant Billings accepts a job in Parker, Oklahoma as a nurse practitioner at the towns clinic his plan is to only stay for three years, to earn enough to pay back his student loans. Being raised as a foster kid he’s used to moving on, however, that was before he met CC, the only problem was she seemed to be avoiding him. Meanwhile, CC feels that she is ‘only’ a hairdresser and thinking that Brant is much smarter than her and will only be around for a short time, she try’s to ignore the instant attraction she has for him and avoids him. Brant and CC are brought together when CC’s friends buy her a date with Brant at the towns eligible bachelor auction. I was cheering the couple on, hoping they would be able to overcome their pasts and get the HEA they both deserved. I loved CC and Brant and how their relationship developed over time. The chemistry between them really came across in the writing. As usual, the setting came alive by the descriptive narrative and I felt immersed in small town living, in Parker. I enjoyed ‘catching up’ with characters from the previous novels, however, it can be read as a standalone story. An enjoyable and engaging read.

I loved this book! It was a great mystery. I felt like the plot was realistic, we live in crazy times. I felt connected to Grace as I knew her on a personal level. I was hooked from the first page and that continued throughout the book, while I was rooting for Grace the whole time. I felt like this book was fast-paced, with tons of twists and an ending that I didn’t guess correctly!

Swipe Right to Bite (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 6) By Carrie Pulkinen
5-stars
Wow! This author amazes me time and time again, she’s one of my all-time favourites. She’s one of those one click authors for me, I will read anything by her without question!
This is the sixth book in the New Orleans Nocturnes series, a series that can easily be read as standalones but I would highly recommend the whole thing anyway because this is honestly one of the best paranormal series I’ve ever read.
The characters in this storyline are so captivating and were so easy to connect with, I found myself laughing along with them and giggling at their witty remarks. I was honestly entertained the whole way through, so much so that I read it in one sitting, I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading as I was so immersed in the story forgetting all about the real world.
I highly highly recommend this book to anyone looking for their next one of a kind comedic paranormal read!
