What an AMAZING read by Byrd Nash….. I absolutely adore fairytale retellings and I recently fell in love with historical romances, add some magic and this book is a triple thread that you definitely should read. It’s a short story that packs a punch with the exceptional world building and character development that Byrd Nash put into it. Only Fter reading this did I see that this is book 2 so it can be read as a standalone and I’m definitely grabbing book 1

Witness: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 9) Witness is the thrilling ninth book in the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. I know that I say this with every new release, but this series get better, and more compelling, the further we go as each new instalment manages to slightly eclipse the previous book- leading me on an gripping, intense, and unpredictable ride, giving me many chills and thrills along the way. As with the previous books in the series, I was completely engrossed in what I was reading. I have long been invested in Detective Edward Petrosky, and his investigations- so it was a given that I would be following along on this case to find out the latest development/s. Ms. O’Flynn writes such vividly detailed and descriptive stories that I feel like I am right there experiencing everything right alongside the character/s- becoming completely absorbed by the story. This book is another cleverly crafted, police-procedural, crime and investigation story with fully realised, slightly flawed character/s. It’s full of raw, gripping, shocking, and totally intriguing developments that had me flipping the pages madly to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to read “Savage” (Book 10). The Tears of Boabdil by Neil MacDonald was a good 4 star read. It took me a little bit to get into the story, I was trying to understand exactly what was going on. Once I got a little further I got pulled in.
Vince is working undercover to infiltrate a jihadi group. He also meets a woman that pulls him right in and he starts to seduce her. As the story moves forward Vince has to make a choice. Love or his job? What’s made up and what is real?
Overall this was a good thrilling read. The author does a good job of pulling you in with his writing. All of the characters added a great element to the story. If you’re looking for a good thrilling fantasy romance then 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.

While this could be a standalone, I recommend you start with Book 1 to get familiar with all of the characters. It will be worth your time to get caught up with the characters.

D. L. Dunn has written this suspenseful story. It will keep you reading until the book ends. You will go through all of those emotions while reading this story. The characters will become a part of your heart. Zach is hard core strong, but Saoirse is even stronger. This story left nothing out and the suspense is rollercoaster worthy. Well done D. L. Dunn! What a fun read!! She definitely keeps you guessing as to what will happen next as you read! Truly, didn’t want to put it down, and only did because I had to sleep!
I was surprised by the author’s reason for Captain Hook’s intense dislike for Peter Pan. It humanized him to the point that you couldn’t help but see Hook in a different light because of his misadventures in the book. I appreciated that she didn’t paint him as the villain that most people associate him with when they hear the name Captain Hook.
Because she also intermingled some other tale’s characters throughout this book, it’s hard to not feel that they are a foreshadowing of what is to come in this series! Can’t wait to read what comes next!

Professor Valentine: A Student Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella by Diana Vale is the first book in the Kirk University series. This is a pretty quick and easy read that will help pass a relaxing afternoon. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I certainly found it to be enjoyable. I liked the fact that it was an easy read and something that I didn’t have to think too much about. The story was well written and had some pretty steamy scenes. I was quite as taken with the characters like I hoped I would be. I didn’t quite connect with them throughout the book. However that being said it didn’t really take away from my enjoyment and I would be willing to read more from this author in the future. Overall this is an entertaining book worth reading.

This was such and interesting read for me! Admittedly, I have not read much on Muslims and their history. I felt like I got a glimpse into their history and mythology while reading a story about real people and their struggles.
The author wrote this story by intertwining three stories and timelines in such a fascinating way that I had to keep reading to find out what happened next! I was left wondering if that was all. I want to know more! This would be a FANTASTIC book club read!! It’s definitely the kind of book you want to discuss with other people.

So I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was excited to start the second one especially as it’s beauty and the beast and that is my favourite fairytale so high expectations. Maybe that’s where I went wrong though having high expectations. It was good but it just wasn’t amazing. The dad loses a game of cards and as the story goes he trades his daughter away for a rose to the beast. His daughter take charge of their own fates. Lily becomes the housekeeper at the manor and Poppy beigns reading magic books and becomes his secrety. Rose then begins to work magic in his garden. She is going to be the key to unravel the curse that is on him. Although as we all know it’s never simple. If you enjoy retellings and fairytales and magic and little bit of historical romance this is your book.

So, let me just say that I can’t give this book the best of my love after reading it. As much as I wanted to love it, I honestly didn’t. It began extremely slow and was hard for me to get into the story. Once the story did start moving along it was hard for me to connect with the main character, Dre, until closer to the ending of the book. I felt that there were some unresolved issues at the end which left me confused and wondering if she was going to release a follow-up and complete the story. If not, then that’s a shame. I really despised the “love of her life” and the choices and decisions that he makes. Just my opinion, but there was no love in that relationship. Maybe desperation. Or hope. Whatever the case may be, I truly cannot believe that anyone would believe that this was the best love of their life. But again, I am hoping that this isn’t the ending of this story and that there will be completion and satisfaction in a sequel.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Book 1) by Diana Vale
Diana wove a lovely coming of age romance that made for a quick read! Her descriptions and real life feel of University life transported this reader across the ocean to England; back to the good old college days! Diana certainly has a way with words and paints such a clear picture that I could practically feel the cool breeze, hear the boisterous nightlife, and maybe yearn a little for Professor Valentine’s hot breath on my neck… As a midwestern lady from the States I found her British slang endearing and loved her characters all the more for it! Young adult readers will certainly feel a connection and understanding to the characters that I’m sure will have them hooked on Vale’s books to come! If the character connection doesn’t hook them, her classy steamy scenes will! Professor Valentine was a great light read and I look forward to seeing what Vale comes up with next!

This was a lovely read. It’s full of heartbreak and romance. It’s a story about forgiveness and that by being able to forgive we allow ourselves to find love. The characters are beautifully written. I love that Dre character is a strong independent woman even though she has suffered heartache and betrayal.
Dre and Erick were high school sweethearts and were together for years until one day Dre got a call. Erick had cheated on her and the woman was pregnant.
Thinking he was doing the right thing he left Dre and married the other woman. Dre was left heartbroken but she picked herself up and moved away.
10 years later she is a successful business woman who has never gone back home. Until her friend needs her. So Dre returns to her old home and old memories.
Can she rebuild her relationship with her dad and forgive him for what she sees as betrayal? Can Erick win her back over? Can they try again or will the pain of the past be too much for Dre to overcome?

Witness is the 9th Book in the Ash Park series by Meghan O’Flynn. The Ash Park series is centred around police detective Edward Petrosky and in this book he’s joined again by his partner Jackson. I didn’t discover this series of books and this author until the 7th book in this series and it’s still my mission to find time to go back and read the 6 books I’ve missed as I really want to get to know Petrosky’s character more. From my knowledge of Witness and the 2 previous books, I can tell he’s had a damn hard time of it in his life and in witness he sinks back into alcoholism again. This is a really brilliant detective story with so many twists and turns that you really don’t know what Meghan O’Flynn is going to throw at you next. What started as a simple breaking and entering job turned into something way, way much more and Petrosky and Jackson are soon pulled deep into the dark and dangerous criminal world in a case that becomes a bit too close to home for comfort. It totally amazes me how an author can write such an intricate and involved plot without losing the plot, so to speak. I’m totally in awe of authors who can do this and keep the reader engaged throughout and Meghan O’Flynn certainly does that with Witness.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella is the first book in the Kirk University series by Diana Vale.
This is my first time reading anything by this author, and I very much enjoyed this novella. It was a quick read that I read in an evening. The characters are sweet and well throughout, and they keep you wanting more. The story follows Cassandra (Cassie) who is a psychology student in her first year at the fictional Kirk University. She doesn’t intend to fall for her professor but just can’t keep away. The book is filled with romance and chemistry, and a fun take on what student life can be like. I enjoyed this first book in the series, and look forward to seeing where the author takes us next.

A few misunderstandings set the course for this short romantic comedy between comedian Ace Bennett and bank teller Ella Craig. The chemistry between Ace and Ella, as well as their banter-like communication, kept the story fun and enjoyable throughout. The novel grabbed my attention from the first chapter and didn’t let go until the very last page. The author created a well-written story with some rather quirky and swoon-worthy characters. Now that I’ve read this first book, I’ll definitely be looking into the second in the Alpha Bet Guys series!

Dre has no intention of ever returning to Emerald Creek. She’s made that clear by staying away for so long. There’s nothing there for her except her best friend Shayna and her kids, which is precisely what brings Dre back. Erick made a massive mistake and lost the love of his life. Seeing her back in Emerald is hard knowing he was what drove her away in the first place. Will Dre being back in Emerald Creek for the summer dredge up old memories or have they lost any chance they ever had?
I enjoyed the book it was a great read. I didn’t enjoy Erick so much. He spent a lot of time acknowledging and maybe even feeling bad for the pain he inflicted but those first few interactions he had with Dre lacked any kind of asking for forgiveness. She would have shot him down, that’s Dre’s personality but I feel like Erick continued to make mistakes that he should have learned from. I loved Dre’s character. She’s no nonsense. She tells it like it is. She is herself unapologetically no matter how many people try to make her bend. I definitely recommend!

Price of a Rose: A Beauty and Beast Tale (Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings Book 2) By Byrd Nash 4 Stars
This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I love fairytales and I think that the author did a good job with this one. There is magic, a curse, the beast and a happily ever after. This is where the similarities end. In this story, the father gambles for a rose and loses his three daughters. The sisters go to Thorn Hill Manor on their own terms and decide to help the beast in their own way. Lily becomes the housekeeper to clean and refresh the house, Rose decides to revive the gardens as this is her strength and Poppy being the youngest becomes his secretary. The author adds some twists to keep it interesting. The characters are kind and compassionate. My favourite had to be Poppy. She is a headstrong fourteen year old with a will of her own. The story is charming and enjoyable. You won’t be disappointed.

I will always pick up a rock star romance read – it’s one of my favourite genres to read about so when I saw this book and a new to me author I couldn’t wait to get started and I wasn’t disappointed at all! Strings Attached was a brilliant read – I absolutely adored Ashton!! He was completely swoon worthy and most certainly book boyfriend material (it’s been ages since one was worthy of my list!!) I loved Calla and Ash together, the way they navigated their friendship to maybe more. They both had a future that meant they were going in different direction but they had this connection that was so sweet and genuine – I was rooting for them the whole way through! I would highly recommend this wonderful 5 star read and I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future!

Guardians of the Garden by Theresa Pocock is a YA fantasy story. It is an interesting and original premise that started out a little slow but soon made up for it. The fast moving plot has multiple layers woven in to it with religious overtones, myth and folklore. Theresa has beautifully written and cleverly crafted a story where the world building and its characters have depth and are complex in their telling.
With magic and guardians, immortality and mystery it has something for everyone to enjoy. You won’t be disappointed and you won’t want to put it down.

I love a forbidden romance story so when I read the synopsis for this book I was really looking forward to reading it and overall I really enjoyed it, I guess it was a little predictable in parts and it was a short read but nevertheless I still liked it. Professor Valentine definitely had the sexy teacher vibe going on so I can see why Cassie fell for him!! I am really looking forward to seeing where the author takes this series!

This book gets intense fast to say the least. Cassie is a 18 year old that has a crush on her hot hunky teacher, and doesn’t know how to go about getting him. Where as Diego is her teacher and isn’t allowed to do anything about It. It plays up the forbidden romance well and makes you invested in the story. He thinks she should be living the college life with her friends, going out drinking every night. But she has other plans, she wants to be considered mature and try’s to show him that she is.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression after the loss of my mother, father and husband within three years of each other; all to cancer. 24/7 in-home care, coupled with the loss I felt, left its mark on my psyche.
Depression takes up a lot of my life. Reading and writing are the only things I have found that help (in connection with regular medication), even if only for a short time. To escape to a different world can make a big difference in my mood in real time.
To put things in perspective, when I was at my lowest point, I couldn’t open mail, talk on the phone, or even drive to the store. Walls of sadness surrounded me. As they closed in, tears would fall. There didn’t need to be a reason or trigger.
People ask me why I started writing. My answer is simple: I wanted to create a world into which other people with similar problems could escape. I wanted to share the one place that had helped me for many years.
I have always said that as long as one person finds a little bit of happiness out of my books, I am, in my opinion, an accomplished author. The same is true for every writer out there. Please don’t ever let anyone tell you different.
I read books as well as write them and have visited the worlds many different authors have created. Those worlds not only make me feel better, but give me the strength to face real life again. I want to thank everyone who writes—I want them to know they are making a difference.

Let’s first talk about this cover! I absolutely love it! It gives me Safe Haven and The Longest Ride vibes. The sunset is beautiful and it makes me want to know these silhouetted people standing in front of it. I also really love that there’s a cowboy on the chapter heads. Even though this story was short I loved it, straight to the point and leaves you wanting more. I would love to eventually see an extension on the story but this one was able to make you like the characters and be engaged in their lives from the first chapter. It was beautifully written and I can’t wait to read more by this author. Jessie is a spoiled brat that wants attention, meanwhile Tuck is a true cowboy and just wants to do his job and ride bulls. But something is coming that changes everything. Strap in for the ride!

Seconds is a short story filled with drama, passion, secrets and second chances. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I look forward to reading many more. This book is also in a series with books written by different authors call Internet Famous. Seconds is a whirlwind fast paced book full of action and emotional twists. The characters are well written and relatable. I truly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a short read to fall into. Review by@sunbarn
