Ants are carrying bleeding heart fern seeds to their anthill. They stop to nibble something off the end of a seed. When Loretta bends down to investigate, a seed-like pod falls from the branch above her head. The ants take that to their nest, too.
What could it be? The branch over her head has no flowers. Seeds come from flowers. Where could this seed have come from?
As she watches, a branch starts walking. It must be an insect. But, insects don’t make seeds. Insects drop eggs. The ants take the eggs to their nest, just like the seeds. They even nibble on them, just like seeds.
What are the ants doing with the seeds and eggs in their anthill?

Julie Castle is a natural-born romantic with a modicum of artistic talent inherited from her mom and a love for telling tall tales she got from her dad. That set her up for being a starving artist, the biggest fibber in the world, or a romance author. She’s so glad she chose the latter. She’s always had a love affair with the written word. As a child growing up in a small town, she loved visiting the local library, a converted gilded age mansion, and getting lost between the pages of a book. The drafty old mansion could be a spooky place, but she still loved it. She enjoyed poking into behind the scenes areas she wasn’t supposed to venture into. She’s still the same way, which is why she loves writing romance with an edge, paranormal, suspenseful, super sexy, or just laugh your pants off funny. She resides in Wisconsin with her family.

Reunion by Jocelyn Lindsay
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This is a supernatural end of the world romance story. It has a group of people who have powers and were beat friends in high school. After over 20 years, the main character returns to her hometown where her friends she hasn’t seen or spoken to since leaving have lived their lives. They have a lot to overcome, including forgiveness for over the past. I liked the story and the characters. It’s pretty detailed, even detailing smells and tastes.

When a hunting expedition doesn’t go as expected and family comes for a holiday visit, having good aim is important.
Mayor Cora Mae Bingham is planning a Thanksgiving dinner for the entire town of Spicetown! What could possibly go wrong?

I’d always sensed something peculiar about the reclusive Evergreen Academy, tucked deep in the woods of my hometown. But I never could have imagined it was a college for magical botanists–and that I am one of them.
An invitation to the academy opens up a whole new world of wonder, yet my plant affinity powers remain elusive, and my scientific training is far behind that of my peers.
When I’m assigned a tutor, Callan Rhodes, a powerful descendant of the academy’s founders, I’m baffled by his willingness to help me.
Despite my challenges, I’m enchanted by the academy’s glass schoolhouse, its grounds which are overflowing with plants that defy the climate, and the quirky festivals held each equinox and solstice.
But disaster looms as the verdant shield that protects the academy from the prying eyes of nonmagical people begins to falter. Can Callan and the other founder’s descendants sustain the magic on their own, or will the clock finally start to tick on figuring out my powers?
