Amaleigha Makes a New Friend by Janice Pratt – Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Amaleigha Makes a New FriendAmaleigha Makes a New Friend by Janice Pratt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Janice Pratt writes really well written children’s books that cover really important topics and allows children to learn about heavy things in a light hearted manner. I know all of us adults remember when we wrote to a pen pal in elementary school and how excited we were to send/receive letters from around the world! This book focuses on pen pals from Ukraine right before their war with Russia started. Janice discussed how fearful the children were, how some of their parents were aiding the military, and what types of precautions some of the children had to take like evacuating their homes. I thought the children in the book doing a change drive to raise money to help the people in Ukraine was a wonderful idea and much like Janice is doing with the proceeds from the purchase of this book. I’ve read quite a few of this authors books and this was another meaningful, well written, well illustrated book from this author.

Regaining Integrity (Code of Honor Book 4) by Brooke May – Review by Heather Bass

Regaining Integrity (Code of Honor)Regaining Integrity by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to be one of my favorites. This book is the fourth book from the amazing series called the Code of Honor. It could be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I love a good military romance but this author exceeded my expectations. I was so excited to read this book so I started reading it right away. I could not put this book down. These characters kept me wanting more until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Angelica Reece was not popular during high school. She loved math classes but there was a distraction in her class, Chase. Angie could not stand the Senior that did absolutely nothing in class but sleep. She didn’t like him from the start. Angie now is a junior high math teacher and she is going on her second year of teaching. She loves her job. Angie is loving life until she finds out that her best student is Chase’s nephew. She can’t stand him still with his perfect hair but she just can’t get him out of her head. Will Angie and Chase find out that there is something there or will it is it be like high school all over again?

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers Series Hockey Romances Book 9) by G.K. Brady – Review by Heather Bass

Guarding the Crease (The Playmakers #9)Guarding the Crease by G.K. Brady
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and she continues to blow my mind on how she writes her characters. My favorite genre is sports romance and she always exceeds my expectations. This book could be read as a standalone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was excited for this book and I started reading it right away. It only took me a full day to read this awesome story. I can’t wait to see what she will write about next.

Wyatt Tompkins is a very well known goaltender. He is a huge player who has no problem with it at all. Wyatt thinks he can’t be touched but he finds himself not playing for a year. He then goes to cool off and hears a woman in trouble. Wyatt goes and helps right away and when he finds out who he saved he is in shock. He helps the PR woman that probably got him in this mess in the first place. Wyatt needs all the help he can get and Serena now owes him one. Will they be able to get what they have wanted all along or will they be too different from another?

Saved by the Everyday Hero (Limited Edition Romance Collections) by Naomi Valkyrie & Various Authors – Review by Heather Bass

Saved by the Everyday HeroSaved by the Everyday Hero by Amelia Hayden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an amazing collection of romance stories. I loved that these stories are based on the heat ratings which mean there’s stories for every one. There are mild romances and then we have the spicy ones as well. Also loved that this collection was based on modern day heroes like police officers to fire fighters.

One of my favorite stories is from the awesome Naomi Valkyrie called the Unexpected Hero. This story touched my heart. Elijah is a single dad and that has been dealt a horrible hand but he does everything for his child. He meets the amazing Jude and his life starts to change big time. Elijah helps Jude with his addiction and it was beautiful to read. Will they find their happy ending or will the past come back and destroy it all?

When Magic Calls: A Collection of Modern Fairy Tales by Caitlin Berve – Review by Heather Bass

When Magic Calls: A Collection of Modern Fairy TalesWhen Magic Calls: A Collection of Modern Fairy Tales by Caitlin Berve
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read from this author and she blew me away. I loved fairy tales as I was a kid and this brought me right back. I was so excited to read this that I started immediately after I got the book. I could not put this book down until the end and I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

A girl in New Mexico is very jealous of something that she can’t have so what she does is takes it for herself. A boy in the Rocky Mountains is watching a girl but what do they have in common, fairytales. The girl and boy downs realize it but they are both in their own fairy tale. Will they be able to get out of it or will they be stuck in it?

Reaper (War Brothers MC Book 1) by Bianca Lee Ward -Review by Micalah Weatherholtz

Reaper (War Brothers MC, #1)Reaper by Bianca Lee Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t know why I don’t read more of this type of book because I always end up really enjoying them. Reaper was definitely one of the great ones, I couldn’t put it down. It devoured me heart and soul. I finished it in two days, but found myself wishing that I had taken my time, or that the book had been longer. Like a few other reviewers mentioned there weren’t a lot of chapters from Reapers point of view and I would have loved to hear more from him. I don’t think anything was taken from the story because we didn’t though. Ava’s chapters were fully threshed out, built the scenes, the characters were well described, and contained all the information needed to further the story as the book was mostly centered on her. Reaper did include some sensitive topics like Domestic Violence, PTSD, Violence, and a gun battle, plus a scene concerning an animals welfare (Ava saves him and he’s ok after the other incident) it was all handled very tastefully. Reaper and all the other men in the club were sensitive, protective, and their alpha male personalities was just what Ava needed to feel safe and comfortable enough to come back to herself. I loved Ward’s writing and her ability to spin a story. I definitely see myself reading more from her including this series with book 2 about Bomber.

My Inner Critic By Christine Bernard- review by Jennifer Allen

This book climbed right into my head and pulled out every thought I have ever had.
Emily is such a relatable person and I felt like I was living right next to her. From her awkward social interactions to her loving friends, Emily is on a journey of self-love. I have never related to a character more. If you have ever felt weird or out of place at any point in your life then this is the book you need to read.

Shore Lodge by Susan Specht Oram-Review by Jennifer Allen

After the death of her husband Albert, Jacklyn has had a tough time.  When her kids talk her into a couple of days at Shore Lodge to relax, she decides she could use the break.  But behind the Lodge’s doors are sinister secrets and Jacklyn is about to discover that losing her husband was the least of her worries.  I could not put this book down.  The characters were incredibly written and the story just pulled me in, especially the relationship between Jacklyn and her son Dusty.

The Last Cabin Girl by Tom Swyers – Review by Brittany Carlin

The Last Cabin Girl: A totally gripping thriller full of twistsThe Last Cabin Girl: A totally gripping thriller full of twists by Tom Swyers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Last Cabin Girl is a wonderful book written by Tom Swyers. It is full of suspense and a must read psychological thriller. The reader will be sitting on the edge of their seat, just like this reviewer was! It is very relatable as it coincides with the pandemic happening in real life. It is a story about a woman who has seen a “pink body” on more than one occasion. Did she do it? Who can she trust? What is going on?! There are so many twists and turns, which make it fun and hard to put down. Highly recommend!

Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson – Review by Char Wahtomy-Alba

Camille is looking to take a break from her highly stressful PI job and decides to stay with her brother and his family. He had been trying to get her to live with his family for years and she is finally ready to take him up on his offer. When a neighbor goes missing her brother and his partner take on the case. She can’t just sit by and not help can she? This was a great book that kept me on the edge of my seat. The equal parts suspense and romance balanced out this book very well and the writing style of the author was great. The characters came to life and they felt so real. I will definitely be finding more books by this author.

Hanging Softly in the Night by Maria Elena Alonso-Sierra – Review by Charlisa Wahtomy-Alba

Who doesn’t like a great mystery thriller? Detectives Nick Larson and Victor Sacco are severely over worked since about half of their precinct is out with the flu. When they are handed a case that looks like a suicide, it looks that way until they take a closer look. Who had it out for the victim? There are other cases that start to pop up similar in nature. Maybe the perpetrator(s) got sloppy and left them a clue?

Laura Howard, a cake baking whiz, is still having problems with her crazy twin sister. Even though the woman is behind bars she is still doing a great job of wrecking Laura’s life. On top of that, she and Nick are in the midst of trying to figure out whether or not they should start a romantic relationship. Who should make the first move? They have both had tragedies in their lives recently, but their feelings are just too much to ignore. Will they get the chance to explore?

This being my first book by this author I wasn’t too sure what I was getting myself into, but the blurb drew me in. It was the perfect blend of mystery and romance. If you like books that you can get lost in and picture what is being described I highly recommend this book.
