This is the second book in the series, I would recommend reading the series in order to get the full experience. The author is good at the world and character building to immerse you into this world. It is aimed at YA readers but can be read by ‘older’ readers who enjoy the genre.

Joey is a young woman in her first year of college at Portstown and it is tough going for her and her straight A record has fallen to a C if she is lucky, but she can’t catch a break to study when she is still reeling from the events of the year before. After the fallout from the Great Hunt and the attack on her friend group, she has been immersed in a world that is hidden from most and she has no real enjoyment of it, it just beings stress and exhaustion.

That isn’t the only thing, which is exhausting her, she has been having strangely vivid dreams and most recently nightmares, but she has nobody she can talk to about it, so she just keeps it all her to herself, however, one night when she wakes again screaming from another nightmare to the sights and smells of a fire on campus. She is drawn to see it, but she is also feeling strange when she does, but she still cannot stop watching, at least until she is by force.

As Joey continues to try and study, she is also working in the college library, this is where she also decides to do some research into the fire and her dreams, but she finds nothing on the internet and is definitely frustrated by it. Unfortunately, things just become more distracting as one of the mysterious Warner Guardians starts to investigate and soon people start to go missing, students from the college and more fires pop up.

Joey knows that the only thing she can do to try and figure out how everything is connected is to bite the bullet and go visit the friends and ask for their help, but will she be able to face the guilt associated with them and be albe to solve the mysterious fires and missing students, all while trying to pass her finals? This is a fantasy which is full of fiery content, stubborn teens and one nasty Dream Conductor, as a tangled web is unravelled to reveal the truths hidden beneath the facade of normality of Portstown and its inhabitants.

It wasn’t until I finished this book that I found out it was book two of a series. I think that maybe reading the first would have really pulled the story together for me. I found I was a little lost with a few things that were happening and told in the book, which I felt were probably addressed in the first book. But besides that, this book was good and so well written that I will be going back and reading the first book. This book was filled with so much action, adventure, supernatural, paranormal suspense. Mystery and so much more. This book was very well written and was so filled with imaginative story that I felt like I was right there with the characters myself. Joey finds a world of paranormal and she’s not sure how to come to the reality of the real world. This book really had me hooked thou from the beginning, and o couldn’t put it down.

This was a marvelously crafted paranormal story that I couldn’t put down! I hadn’t realized that it was the second book in a series, but I didn’t feel too lost. That being said, I am absolutely going back to read the first book, Lineage, right this moment because this author knows how to write a captivating read! I think I will probably enjoy the series much more having read the beginning as well. The way these scenes are painted brings so much to life and it is creatively vivid in every way! Joey is in college when incredibly strange things begin happening, like fires on campus and people going missing. What follows is nothing short of a wonderfully engaging and thoroughly entertaining book that you won’t be able to put down. I’ve picked up the first book so I can fully catch up before the next in the series arrives!

Dreamscape is Book Two in the JJ Morris Mystery Series. If you have not yet read the first book in the series, I recommend that you do because it will provide details on Joey’s backstory. This is a YA story with mystery, danger, action, suspense, paranormal, and intrigue. Joey is now in college and attempting to be a normal college student. However, that proves to be exceedingly difficult after being introduced to the paranormal world and a horde of black dogs. Joey finds sleep to be difficult due to the vivid dreams that she has, especially as the dreams become more intense and violent under the control of the Dream Conductor. Then there is the black cat that keeps appearing in her room and Joey cannot figure out how the cat keeps getting in or why it insists on keeping her sleep deprived. When weird little fires start popping up all over campus, people start to disappear, and weird things start to happen things become sinister. Joey is already struggling to be the perfect student and maintain perfect grades, but the strange and sinister happenings cause even more of a distraction. Around every corner, behind every door, and inside every person she meets could be something paranormal. A fantastic read with great world building, vivid scene descriptions, and fantastic characters that fully immerse you into the story from the start. Looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series!

Dreamscape (J.J. Morris Mysteries) by J.N. Sheats. This is the second book of this series and I highly recommend reading them in order. Its the story of Joey and the school she attends. Joey just wants to be a normal college student and after what she went thru learning about the paranormal I don’t blame her. When fires start breaking out on campus and Joey doesn’t think much about it but when she realizes Gwen is investigating she starts to wonder if this is some of the supernatural stuff. More fires are breaking out and Joey is having crazy dreams and she’s not sure what’s going on anymore. This book will grab you by the pants and have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I loved it! Can be read as a standalone but recommend reading the 1st book to better understand this one!

This is the first book I have read by J.N. Sheats and I fell in love. This book is a wonderful YA paranormal suspense with the supernatural, mystery, tension/angst, complex characters, ghosts, occult, slight horror, and wonderful world building. Even though it is YA, I think that older adults would definitely love this as well.

I did not read the first book in the series, but I do not feel like it made this book any less than because of that. With that said, I will be going back to read the first book. I can see a few areas in the book where knowledge from the first book would have been beneficial. I would recommend reading the first book and then this one, but it is not 100% necessary to understand and love this book.

The main character Joey is struggling to keep up with her normal day to day life, but she is also experiencing several supernatural events happening around her. She is desperately trying to find her new “normal” in college, but after everything that has happened, she is not sure if that is possible anymore. What is stalking her in her dreams? What is a dream and what is real? Will her life ever go back to normal?

If you enjoy books with supernatural, paranormal, with some mystery then you will most definitely enjoy this book! I cannot wait to read what comes next!

This is the second book in the series and while I didn’t read the first book I had no trouble catching up with what was going on. Joey used to be a star student until she was introduced to the things that go bump in the night. Now she sees potential ghosts and demons in the faces of everyone she meets. Not the best way to spend your first year in college. She also misses normal dreams, you know the kind you can forget. Now she remembers every detail, every emotion, and when the newest one is an explosion at the school she has to figure out what is going on. Can she figure out what caused the explosion before it actually happens? Will it actually happen or was it just a dream?

It’s getting really close to finals week and Joey has never made poorer grades in her life. She’s always been a great student but lately has started having dreams that are overtaking her every thought. There are mysterious fires happening all around her and her roommate has been missing for quite some time. She gets these inklings that draw her near to the scenes and she finds herself getting a little too involved sometimes. Is she going to be able to pull off passing grades for this semester?

This is a great book. I was hooked from the first chapter. There are portions of the book that seem like they might be small cliffhangers and you’re on the edge of your seat until you can turn the page and get more of the story. The descriptions are so good it’s like you are right there next to Joey. There is adventure, paranormal activity, and twisty mysteries throughout. This is the second book in the series. Having not read the first book, there were times I wish I had more background on certain things but enough was given to not lose the story. I will go back and read the first book though!

This is the second book in the series and I did not read the first book before this one. I don’t feel like that made this book any less without reading the first one. However, I can see spots in the book where reading the first one would be beneficial. I would recommend reading book one, first, and then this book but it is not necessary to understand what is happening in the book. I will be reading the first one because I really want some of the background that you are given and really strengthen the connection that you get to the characters. This book is considered a YA paranormal read but I feel like it is more than that. I really, really enjoyed it. It has mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat. It has romance and it has such tangible imagery. It is like the words just fly off the pages and create a picture before you eyes. I found myself being completely lost in the words that I was writing It is a true testament as to how well the book was written. If you are looking for a book that keeps your attention, is a quick read because you can’t put it down, and is amazing at building characters and scenery; this book is for you. P.S. I would highly suggest starting at the beginning of the series.

A completely new author to me and although I did not realise it was the second book in the series I found it an extremely engaging read. The characters obviously have a back story that I am unaware of but the world building and character development are both excellent.
When you see the unexpected supernatural world there is no going back and what aspects of the supernatural Joey has been exposed to makes it very difficult for her to not see the dangers that are out there. Things they would never if believed. She struggles to get back to some form of normality. All the time with dreams and unexpected happenings.
I am really looking forward to backtracking and reading book One. My daughters are also wanting to read these and I feel that they would enjoy them,
This is the second book in the J. J Morris. I would suggest reading these books in order so that you get the full experience and fully enjoy this author’s writing.
This is a really interesting paranormal mystery book for YA, however older readers would enjoy this as well. The author’s character building is amazing and the world building is so good you can’t help being drawn into it. This is a story filled with mystery, danger, twists and turns as well as the challenges faced by a young girl.

Joey is now at college. After everything that happen previously she is struggling to come to terms with it all and with the realisation that the world isn’t what she first thought it was. Her eyes are now open wide to all the dangerous out there.
As she tries to struggle through her studies while she is being plagued by dreams things start to happen that don’t make sense.
Fires start to happen at the school. Is this just to people playing pranks or could it be something else?
As the fires happen more often Joey’s dreams take a more violent and terrifying turn. Who is trying to get to her through her dreams and why? With the fires, the terrifying dark dreams and people going missing on campus will Joey be able to solve all these mysteries, protect herself and pass this semester in college or will it all be too much for her and will she fall into her dark dreams that the Dream Conductors are placing in her mind.
When you are already confused about the real world, how can to figure out what is real and what is a fantasy?

This story is gripping and I loved the adventure the author took me on. I really felt for Joey as she was going through her struggles and trying to figure out what is normal in her life now. After she has had her eyes opened is it even possible for her to return to just being a normal student. Me personally I think she has seen to much to ever be just a normal person again.

Dreamscape is the second book in the J.J. Morris series. I hadn’t read the first book and enjoyed this book well enough, there was plenty of information to help me catch up, but I would recommend reading the series in order to get the full backstory (unless you’re like me and see a pretty cover and can’t stop yourself!).

Joey is struggling to keep up with her day-to-day life as she also deals with the supernatural incidents she’s newly aware of. This will be relatable to anyone who has felt like their life has fallen apart a bit, the descriptions of the chaos of her living space were particularly familiar to me!

There are plenty of mysteries and questions to draw you into the story. How is Jinx the cat getting into Joey’s locked room? What’s with the weird dreams she’s having? What caused the fire on campus? It’s an intense story that will excite your imagination. Jinx, by the way, is definitely one of my favourite characters!

This book gets five stars from me. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Woot! Colour me happy when I saw that this book had released. After LOVING the first book so much- I was really excited to be able to dive into this one.
Dreamscape is the second engrossing book in the J.J Morris Mysteries Series by J.N Sheats. It is a fantastic YA paranormal suspense with supernatural elements, mystery, intrigue, tension, twists & turns, dramatic developments, complex characters, layers, sinister forces, action, adventure, wonderful world-building, agendas, dreamscapes, danger, gripping scenes, and so much more.
After loving the first book so very much, I had really high expectations for this instalment- and Ms. Sheats didn’t disappoint. This is a brilliant addition to the series- and another wonderfully imaginative and skilfully written piece of work with a complex and exciting storyline.
This is a very rich and vividly detailed story that has a fast pace and a smooth flow. As with the first book, this follows Joey Morris’s adventures after discovering the paranormal world. She’s now in college, trying hard to find ‘normal’- but after the events in high school, she’s not so sure that’s possible anymore. Having a whole new world opened up to her has left its mark. And when strange things start happening, with people going missing, and a spate of fires breaking out- things take a bit of a sinister turn.
If you haven’t read ‘Lineage’ (Book #1) yet, I highly recommend that you do before diving into this one, as the first book is not only a fantastic read in its own right- but it also lays the groundwork and contains important information that will enhance your appreciation of this story, too.
The story continues in the next book ‘Banshee’- so I really can’t wait to dive into Book #3 ASAP.
Another riveting read!
Happy Reading…

Thank you, J.N. Sheats!

Once you know, you can never let go. This is the first book I have read by the incredible J.N. Sheats and I couldn’t get enough. While this is the second book in the JJ Morris Mysteries series, I hadn’t read the first book, yet. Initially I was worried I would get confused or not understand the full complexity of the story, but I felt that it gave enough back information that I never truly felt lost in the overall plot of the story.
Joey Morris is a freshman in college and after a life altering senior year of high school she is struggling to return to a “normal” life. In high school she was the star student, top of her class, and all but after surviving a traumatic introduction to what lives in the shadows Joey is at war with herself. While she wants to continue her reputation of having perfect grades and being a perfect student, her mind is at odds with her. Sitting in class her mind is constantly spinning, is there witches or ghosts in my class, is the new girl at work a demon? She has been swallowed up and survived some of the darkest parts of the supernatural world and now all she wants to learn is more about what lives in the shadows. Insulting the cause in some ways she has now been having intense emotional vivid dreams. While she’s had dreams that she remembers for a few hours in the past she now can remember every emotion of the dream for days after having it and can recall in perfect clarity the details and emotions. A shift begins again when she sees a building on campus engulfed in flames and feels the intensity of an explosion. When she wakes the next morning remembering the details and how she was knocked out by the blast she is stunned to discover the campus shows no signs of an explosion of any kind and that the building has minimal external damage. More so the reason for the fire the police chief gives her is at odds with the physical damage she sees. The windows didn’t crack, or explode, they melted. Mystery alive again until she sees Gwen and her stomach drops.
What could melt the glass of the windows? Why is Gwen looking into the fire? Was Joey really awake or was the explosion just another dream? The world the author creates is reality based having been to Pennsylvania in the winter I feel the cold in my bones as Joey does. Her characters are easy to sympathize with and to understand, seeing yourself in their position both in the good and bad moments as she wrestles with reality from dreams. Having devoured this book, I will certainly be going back to book one to discover all the details of senior year and surviving “The Great Hunt”.

This book was absolutely fantastic! When I found out that it was a follow up to the first book I snatched it up quickly and devoured it in a few days. This story continues to follow Joey, now a college student, just trying to get through the “normal boring” life of a college student. After being exposed to the supernatural world, I don’t blame her for wanting more. All of a sudden fire are breaking out on campus, but nobody seems to know what’s going on. Joey thinks nothing of it, but when she sees Gwen looking into them, Joey starts to question everything she believes is going on. This book got me hooked from page one, and J.N. Sheats does a wonderful job of storytelling and word building. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

People are going missing what is happening and what does one have to do with the other? I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. Dreamscape is the second exciting book in the JJ Morris series. I really enjoyed the first book and was so excited when I saw this book. This is a thrilling supernatural, paranormal suspense and mystery story for YAs, but older readers will enjoy too.
JN’s cleverly woven narrative draws you in as we journey along every step of the way. The storyline is intense, and the characters are well written. There is lots of danger, suspense, action, mystery, paranormal occurrences. The story had you feeling so many different emotions, ups and downs, highs, and lows with so many twists and turns that keeps you guessing till the very end.
Joey is back on campus and things are not what they seem. This could be something far more dangerous than she has faced before. What is stalking her in her dreams? What is real and what is not? Will she get the life she wants? You will have to read it to find out.
This explosive and imaginative tale is full of twisted intentions, mysterious fires, guardians, violent dreams, and missing people making easy to get lost in the mayhem and madness.
If you enjoy things with a little supernatural you will definitely enjoy this book.
I cannot wait to see where things go next.

I will have to go back and read the first book now. I definitely recommend this one.
