My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rosalie Giordano is a young woman in her mid thirties, she has her whole life ahead of her and a husband who dotes on her, he is strong, charming, charismatic and beautiful and they have been married for ten blissful years and it has almost been like a fairytale, especially after escaping the manipulative clutches of her mother. Rosalie and her husband decide to start a family, but things don’t go to plan when one day she is struck by a mysterious illness which leaves her paralysed and unable to speak, so they have to hire an assistant to care for her. He is shocked and struggles to come to terms with the change in her and as the days turn to weeks and months, he starts to pull away from her, but she still wants him, if only she could tell him, or show him.

As the months pass and there looks like Rosalie will never recover, she noticed that her husband is a lot less attentive to her and acting as though she isn’t even there, but she suspects he is having an affair when she smells a fragrance on him she doesn’t recognise. One day she slowly begins to regain some of her movement, a finger twitch here, a vocalisation there and she is ecstatic, but because of her husband’s possible infidelity, she decides not to tell him and pretend that things haven’t changed at all.

As this complex web continues to be woven, her husband decides to take her and her carer away for a trip to warmer climates, so Rosalie decides that this is where she will enact her revenge, but things don’t quite go according to plan. Will Rosalie be able to enact her revenge and surprise her cheating husband, or will she be too weak to follow through? This is a suspenseful story of love, lies and revenge which will keep you reading and not want to put the book down until you find out what happened at the end.

This book was a non stop read that keeps you guessing until the end! With plenty of oh wow plot twist I read this book in a day. I could not put it down needing to know what would happen to Vin, Rosie and Cate. Your heart will ache for each character for very different reasons. I love that there was a mixture of each persons past in the story to give you a sense of who they are. You will also find a reason to despise each character, some more than others. This story shows the reality of what happens when tragedy strikes and how us as humans handle it. We all have secrets, some are just heavier than others. Will definitely read more from this author!

The Secret Cure: A gripping psychological thriller with a twist by JD Spero

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. The Secret Cure is a fantastic book. It had me hanging on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. A love triangle that may turn bad.

Rosalie is no longer able to move. Something happened and now she can’t move or speak. Then a miracle happens. She can move. She can also speak. Now it’s a secret from her husband. The quote I chose for Rosie is: “He’s having an affair.”

Vin is Rosie’s husband and isn’t happy that his wife is no longer able to do the things she loves. He goes to a therapist only for him to fall in love again. Can he keep the two of them separate from each other without Rosie finding out? The quote I chose for Vin is: “Rosie, I’m going to do it. This is a sign. I’m not waiting any longer. I’m taking you to Taormina. I don’t care what it costs. We’ll go soon.”

Highly recommended for Dark Thriller lovers.

I LOVE psychological thrillers and this book was no exception. I was glued to the pages from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down until it was finished. I love that the author not only alternated between past and present but also included every main character’s perspective. The story never felt rushed or over saturated with details yet the author managed to pay an incredible amount of detail to each character’s storyline- past and present. I loved that at any given time I could love and appreciate a character and then decide they were despicable and none of them were likable at all. I can not say enough about the shifts in perspective throughout this whole book.
The twists and turns of this story did not disappoint and despite EVERYTHING that happened, I was fixated on one line from the beginning half of the book… “I wonder does he see her as an ice cream or martini kind of woman? That one data point would answer all my questions.” I loved the book from beginning to end and will need a minute to digest how much so!

This is a book that was hard to put down, you peal each layer of the characters and the secrets, drama and betrayal….there was plentiful! This book is told in multi-POV and can I say again….the secrets!!!

Rosalie is dealing with a chronic medical condition that leaves her in the need of home health care aid and I found it heartbreaking as her husband, Vincent, was cold toward Rosalie’s illness. Vincent hires Cate to help take care of Rosalie as a home health aid and knowingly Cate has so much care and love for Rosalie and taking care of her on a daily basis. When Vincent pulls away more and more from Rosalie, thoughts of another woman surface and doubt settles in…. and Rosalie is determine to seek revenge.

This story definitely pulls of twists and turns that you definitely need to put on your seat-belt because you are in for one roller coaster of a ride!

This book was excellent! I was drawn in immediately by Rosalie and didn’t want to put it down! I love reading thrillers, and this one is on the same level as James Patterson’s Alex Cross series. It kept me on the edge of my seat, needing to know what came next. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that keep you wondering, with alternating points of view, this is one you should definitely read!

This is my first read by this author and it was fabulous I couldn’t put it down she had me hooked from the first page. This is a gripping psychological thriller, which was full of drama, suspense, and betrayal. You get each of the main characters point of view which made them come alive and feel real.
The way this author described the setting in detail made you feel like you where there.

Rosalie Giordano is in her mid-30s, the prime of her life. After suffering for years at the hands of her manipulative mother she meets and marry her fairy tale hero Vincent Giordano (she calls him Vin) for ten blissful years.

As they try to start a family, they have some trouble so Rosalie decides to try IVF treatments a year into this, Rosalie is diagnosed with a mysterious virus that renders her temporarily paralyzed. As time goes on, she learns not only is her condition chronic, but the love of her life is having an affair.

As her health improves, and with the help of her homecare nurse, she regains full mobility. While hiding the truth from her husband, she uncovers the extent of his betrayal…and learns he is not at all who he seems. What happens when she finds out she isn’t the only won with Vin? What happens when she confronts Vin? What will Vin’s reaction be when he realizes Rosalie is mobile? Who else wants revenge against Vin will they succeed?

Their planned anniversary trip overseas gives her the perfect occasion for revenge.

Rosalie is unable to move due Guillain-Barre Syndrome. J.D. Spero created the perfect drama filled with passion and revenge. Rosalie has a home health nurse, Cate, who has formed an attachment to spending days with her. Likewise, her husband, Vincent, has become detached and begins going to therapy. However, Anastasia has fallen in love with her patient, and finally reveals her feelings to Vincent. Vincent’s upbringing has taught him to take full advantage of the situation, and he convinces Anastasia he feels the same way.

Then one day, Rosalie utters a word. Cate, happily wants to let Vincent know his wife has started to recover, however Rosalie persuades her to keep her progress secret. Cate doesn’t fully understand but agrees to. Meanwhile, she is having to deal with her pessimistic mother’s declining health and seeks a counselor. Cate served as a medic during the Iraq war and started therapy with Anastasia. How will this drama unfold?

An unpredictable plot filled with deception, I found the justification for Rosalie’s anger to be on point. I’m not sure if I could have betrayed the one person who I could depend on though. Being stuck in a mental and physical prison for several years obviously changes a person’s view on their circumstances.

The Secret Cure by J.D Spero is a tense psychological thriller that kept me intrigued right till the very end. Ms. Spero has woven a wonderfully twisted tale of love, betrayal, jealousy, lies, secrets, deceit, revenge, and unexpected developments. It is also told from several points of view- which gave me a really well-rounded perspective of what was happening and added extra depth and intrigue to the overall story.
I don’t want to reveal too much here and ruin the suspenseful twistiness that comes with this read. I suggest going in blind and letting the author, characters, and story, surprise you!
My favourite read from Ms. Spero to date…. And I can’t wait to see what she does next!
Happy reading!

Thank you, J.D Spero!

A page turner, a psychological thriller. You can’t put this book down; the main characters hook you from the beginning and suck you into their twisted tale. Everyone has secrets and these secrets are beyond what you could possibly imagine. Rosie a quadriplegic from Gulian barre syndrome, her nurse Cate have secrets that could kill. Vincent her charming and con husband has the looks that can get him anything he wants. Everyone’s secrets eventually come out though, but not how anyone would expect them too. A can’t put down book that will leave you questioning everything.

I did not see that coming!

Rosalie has a mysterious illness that has paralyzed her. Though she is conscious and understands everything around her, she has no way to interact with her husband or anyone else in her life. Vincent is Rosalie’s husband. He is handsome, charming, and everything a woman could ask for. Until Rosalie suspects there is another woman in his life. As Rosalie realizes her paralysis is starting to fade, she enlists Cate, her home health nurse to help her not only get back on her feet, but get to the bottom of what her husband has been up to.

Talk about complex characters! There is so much depth to not only Rosalie, but Vincent and Cate as well. Each character is beautifully built with enough detail to make me feel like I know them. The author gives their stories the perfect intertwining to bring them all together. Through twists and turns, the surprises never stop. My jaw dropped with every new piece of the story. This was the first book I have read by this author, but certainly will not be the last!

This book was a hard one to put down. I was so sucked into the story that I managed to finish it within a day of reading it. Very well written and has amazing suspense throughout the entire book.

This book follows the stories of the four main characters alternating between all of their point-of-views. You start out by meeting Rosalie and learning about her condition and how she currently feels about her situation. Then you meet Cate the caregiver that was a nurse overseas for the military. Next comes Ana the intelligent therapist. Finally, Vincent is Rosalie’s husband and Cate’s boss.

This book has a lot of twists and unexpected events that occur keeping you on your toes and not wanting to put the book down. In this book, you get to experience a story unlike a lot of others out there right now. The book has a very unexpected ending and makes you want to reread the book to see if you can find something you missed that led to the ending. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and wants a great book to binge read.

This gripping physiological thrill had me hooked from page one, I just simply couldn’t put it down. Full of drama, suspense, betrayal, vengeance and more this thriller really had it all. The characters were perfect for the setting of this story, the author’s word building was wonderful, and the story was just twisted enough to keep you guessing the entire time. Rosalie, a former dancer who loved to be on her feet, is suddenly paralyzed and bed ridden. You would think that would make her husband more sympathetic for the woman he loves. Instead, he has betrayed Rosie and she is going to get her revenge. With enormous effort, she can finally move again, but has yet to let her husband know of her current state. Will Rosie get her revenge, or will Vincent get what he’s had planned?
This story was amazing! It really made you think about certain situations. The way the other wrote was wonderful, it was interesting to read the story through each of the main characters perspective. I recommend this book if you’re looking for something that makes you think, and guess what you know about someone.

Wow this Thriller is an amazing. I was so totally gripped from the beginning. There are so many secrets and lies in this book that when they are all revealed I was really shocked and surprised. The author does an amazing job with her characters making them come alive. The character I really felt for and ended up loving is Rosalie Giordano. She is such a strong and determined character. I could feel every ounce of her anger and betrayal and in turn her need for vengence.

Rosalie used to be a dancer. After her hard upbringing she was rescued by her husband. However when she was struck down with an illness then left her in a paralysed state things in their perfect marriage goes wrong. Unable to move or speak all Rosalie could do was watch.
Her husband thinks she has no chance of recovering so he turned to his therapist.
Rosalie starts to feel there is more to their relationship that a professional patient/client relationship so when she starts to get movement back she keeps this to herself and starts to plot her revenge against husband who betrayed her when she was at her weakest.

However she isn’t the only person out for revenge against her husband and as the story unfolds there are more secrets and betrayals that we find out about. This is one thrilling ride which won’t let you go.

Having arrived at their upmarket Sicilian resort, Rosalie learns that she is not the only one with a score to settle with her husband, and she won’t be the only one with blood on her hands. This is a real page turner, and I literally could not put this book down. The characters are all so well defined that I felt as though I knew them. Both the characters and the settings came alive through the descriptive narrative. I liked how each of the main characters point of view was told, making me feel engaged with each of them. The storyline flowed well, and the sense of unease built chapter by chapter, and the plot twists kept me guessing as to the ending. I definitely recommend this novel.

The Secret Cure is a psychological thriller with twists. It is not a young adult thriller which is this author’s usual fare. This story is aimed at an older audience and is full of action and suspense, intrigue and a touch of mystery. Add in revenge and vola tensions fly.

It is told in multiple POV’s, which I love, giving you an insight into what the characters are thinking, who they are and gives the story so much more depth. There are also layers of secrets, truths waiting to be told and mysteries to unravel. The tension and raw emotions throughout are palpable and urge the reader to keep turning page after page.

Lying in wait lies and secrets bring her to boiling point. It turns out she is not the only one out for revenge.

I could not put this one down, it was full of intrigue and the want to know more as I read, the story and characters offered a lot. It was a griping read from start to finish, and a most excellent thriller!

What made this book for me was the characters that it contained, and how the story developed around them all in different ways. Really felt for Rosalie. She endured so much, and kept enduring, I really was not sure how her story would end up turning out. Personally I loved how she was written, and her pain made her character who she was, especially later in the book. The intertwining of the characters with the plot at that one certain point really was that wow factor! The writing was amazing, and certainly kept you on the edge of your seat. Strong intrigue and anticipation as well. Fantastic read! Loved it completely!

I could not help love how much of a thrill ride this book was. I was unable to let go. I was held with a tight grip. Definitely a high recommendation for this must read book and author! Not one to be passed up!
