I am loving this series. It has a good cast of characters and I love the storyline. Once I started reading I just could not put this book down. to me, this book is hard to write a review because I am afraid I will put a few spoilers in there.

I love Anne, she is passionate about what she believes in and wants and she seems to have a problem trusting. Hunter’s character was great too.

Check out the book I think you will enjoy it too. This can be read as a stand alone but the series is really good.

I’ve read quite a few books by this author, so I was excited to see another installment of the Choosing Family series. This is a compelling exploration of love, ambition, and the complexities of trust. With a keen eye for character development and a knack for crafting tension-filled scenarios, the author draws readers into the lives of Anna and Hunter, two professionals navigating both their careers and an unexpected romance.

There is fiery chemistry between them and the dialogue crackles with tension. The push-pull dynamic between the characters is expertly handled, and I found myself rooting for both of them even when I may not have wanted to! The way the author intertwines romance with personal growth is astounding. There are plenty of heartwarming connections, but it is deftly balances with the looming shadow of betrayal. I couldn’t read fast enough as the anticipation increased with every twist and turn.

Overall, this is a heartfelt and engaging read that combines sizzling chemistry with poignant themes of trust and redemption. This brilliant author has once again proven her talent for creating characters that linger in your heart long after the last page is turned. If you’re looking for a romance that navigates the intricacies of love and ambition, this book is a must-read.

Having read a few books by this author before, I immediately grabbed this one when I came across it. This is marvelous as the first book in the Choosing Family series. The author weaves a delightful tapestry of romance, identity, and the complexities of family. We get to know Liam and Kate who both have their own secrets and find themselves working together in a professional setting. The author expertly crafts a narrative that combines humor with heartfelt moments.

The chemistry between Kate and Liam ignites a spark that is both steamy and authentic. The tension and attraction are captured beautifully, crafting a romance that feels earned rather than forced. What stands out to me is the author’s ability to balance lighthearted moments with poignant reflections on love, loss, and the masks we wear. The playful tone is reminiscent of contemporary rom-coms, while the deeper emotional threads give the narrative a substantial foundation. The supporting characters add richness to the plot, each contributing to the main characters’ journeys in meaningful ways.

This is definitely a charming read that offers a delightful escape, filled with laughter, romance, and a touch of intrigue. For fans of contemporary romances and rom-coms, this will make a perfect addition to your reading list.

Betrayal by Jennifer Raines is the third book in the Choosing Family Series. This story involves Anna Turner and Hunter Thompson. Anna is trying to provide a daycare option for the single mothers she works with. At the last minute the building gets bought in a hostile takeover and Anna is at a loss. Anna meets Hunter at a work event and soon sparks fly against her better judgment but soon realizes that Hunter is the new owner of the building that ended her contract. It was interesting to read Anna and Hunter navigating not only the contract issues but also the secrets that popped up. These two wanted the same things but were very guarded. The romance is a slow burn but satisfying to read. The characters had great chemistry and witty banter. This was a fun read that took quite a few turns but ended in a good space.

Betrayal (Choosing Family Book 3)Betrayal by Jennifer Raines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Betrayal (Choosing Family), is a story about Anna Turner and Hunter Thompson, two people wary about love, but not able to resist each other. Anna is a marketing manager who is passionate about the well-being of her employees. She is trying to build a child-care service to keep her employees from having to find other work. Hunter is a property developer and architect who is intrigued by Anna at a party they were both out at. The start of their relationship is rocky due to bad business dealings, but Hunter is intrigued with Anna and wants to help her passion come to light. As the two work out this business deal, sparks start to fly. The problem is that each of them has a past and secrets that are kept. Anna is all about intimacy but doesn’t trust often because of her father who was a serial cheater. Hunter slowly learns to open up to a point but believes that keeping secrets is a better choice due to a father who has betrayed him his entire life and doesn’t want him to have knowledge of his new passions. Will these secrets put a rift in the relationship, will Hunter ever be able to open up, and will Anna ever really be able to trust a man?
I thought this was a really good contemporary romance. I truly enjoyed the characters, flaws, and all. Both characters were so great together, they had great banter, and the story moved along quickly. There were protective aspects and growth aspects from both characters. The story had surprising elements at times that added to the dynamics of the story and the characters. While this is the third book in the series, I have not read any others. I thought this author’s story was worth going back and reading the others.

Betrayal is the third book in the Choosing Family series. I haven’t read the rest of the series, although I have read other books by the same author, and I found the story easy enough to follow! I think it would be more enjoyable in the context of the whole series, though. It follows Anna and Hunter’s relationship developing from a rocky start with conflicting business interests into a romance.

I like the project at the centre of the book, creating childcare provision that meets the needs of Anna’s coworkers. It highlights the difficulties in accessing childcare, particularly for working single parents, and explores how an organisation could support the needs of its employees.

There are some great supporting characters, including Anna’s friend Bea who is instrumental in Hunter and Anna connecting! And Hunter’s father, Nick, makes a good antagonist.

There’s a lot going on in this story, which will appeal to fans of contemporary romance. It gets four stars from me!

This is book three in the series and the first that I have read in the series. I will say that this book can be read as a stand alone or with the series. I didn’t feel lost or confused with characters by not reading the other two books first. I can tell that the characters do ebb and flow throughout the books because of the way they are written but if I’m not mistaken each book deals with a different set of characters. Speaking characters, these characters are really well developed and you can feel their emotions throughout this book. They even evolve throughout the span of the book, which I feel is amazing have in a book. This was a very quick read for me as I couldn’t put it down. There is the normal circumstances of contemporary romance which is each character has their own previous baggage and they are trying to see if it is worth working through that to be with one another. However, this book has a bit more to it. There is secrets and lies. The title is there for a reason and it had me turning pages to find out what happened next. There is that push and pull between he characters with their passion and angst. I highly recommend this book to any contemporary romance lover because they will love this book and get hooked into it right away. If you aren’t a contemporary romance lover, I feel like you would still enjoy this book because of the twists and turns it takes and the constant ability to keep you on the edge of each page.

Anna is determined to provide a child center for her company and when the lease is frozen she meets the man responsible for it.

Hunter’s father is determined to make his life hell forever if he doesn’t sign on as a partner and save his company and reputation. Hunter despises Nick with a never needing passion as he hurts everyone Hunter has ever loved/cared for.

Both know what loyalty and betrayal feels like. Can they get past it and conquer their enemy?

I loved this book! Seeing the loyalty Hunter had for his loved ones and how Anna doesn’t give up on him even when it feels like betrayal made my heart swoon *sigh*. I could not put it down!

Betrayal is the third book in the Choosing Family series by Jennifer Raines. This is the first book in the series that I have read and, although I liked it, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books in the series. The story follows marketing executive Anna, who is trying to develop her company’s day care initiative, and Hunter, the architect/business mogul who is seemingly in the way of Anna achieving it. When Anna and Hunter meet by chance at an event, Anna is initially hesitant to give in the Hunters advances, but as she gets to know him, and discovers the truth about his intentions she begins to fall for him. Of course, it doesn’t all go smoothly with the interference of Hunters estranged and despicable father interrupting their plans. I liked this book, I felt it took a few chapters to get into it, but I think that might be because I started the series on book three. I think I will go back and read the first two though as I enjoyed the writing style and the characters in this book.

I’m a sucker for books like this! Betrayal starts with tension, anger, lust, frustration, and of course a sense of betrayal. The author wrote a story that sucks the reader right in. The main characters may have started off as enemies but that quickly changed.
Hunter and Anna are both guarded people. They keep everyone at arm’s length. Letting someone close is how one gets hurt. Easier than taking the risk. But despite their business disagreement(Hunter ruined her plans), there’s a lust amongst the tension. A chance to make things right, Hunter goes to Anna & her boss, with a proposition. A proposition Anna is reluctant for them to accept. But as she peels back Hunter’s layers she softens towards him. A constant give and take of information between them, as their lust/feelings for one another increases.
But are they willing to take the risk?
Unfortunately there’s the unexpected twist that Anna is aware of Hunter’s father from her past.
Will he become more than Hunter’s problem?
All that and so much more as you navigate this story. I love the tension, but will you?

Oh, I love stories like this. They can resemble what life can throw at you. Anna promises her coworkers on-site daycare and finds the perfect spot. Life throws Hunter at her like a bad bone to block the door. Boy, do these two have some chemistry. The problem is that they have secrets too. I enjoyed this story sooo much. The back and forth between them, the sparks made the romance so much more fun. The little twists in the story kept you on your toes. The characters were well written and really fit into the story. I found that the story had a nice a flow. Overall, it’s a really entertaining romance.

Anna Turner was on the cusp of achieving the impossible, a day care center for co-workers to help show how valuable they are. Everything comes to a complete halt when a takeover happens to the building she was about to sign the lease for. She meets Hunter Thompson, the man responsible for taking over the building. Anna tries to appeal to him to let the lease she was promised push thru only to end with her fury toward the man.

Hunter knows not everything in life is fair and he feels bad about Anna’s situation, but business is business. He didn’t expect the attraction to be there, he wants to spend more time with Anna but they are not on the same page when it comes to what they want. Can they find their way into each others heart with out breaking their own on the way?

This had a few twists to the story . Hunter and Anna have more in common than they are aware. I enjoyed the banter between Hunter and Anna. Several surprises in the story that surprised me.

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance. Liam Quinn needs to land a project in order to get a law partnership. However, the project requires confidentiality, so not the best timing for his estranged but identical twin to appear on a billboard. Meanwhile romance author Kate Turner writes under the pseudonym ‘Ms. Sexy Romance’, as her playwright father thinks romances are just trashy novels, whilst her ex-boyfriend referred to her writing as a ‘dirty little secret’. Kate’s identical twin encourages her to appear on a billboard proving that she can be both notorious and anonymous. In her day job Kate becomes Liam’s research assistant, but they can’t deny their mutual attraction. This heartwarming romance kept me happily turning the pages. I found Kate and Liam to be likeable and relatable characters. Their chemistry sizzled off the page and led to some steamy scenes.

Anna is the Marketing manager who promised reliable yet affordable childcare for her coworkers and she might have been slightly under pressure. Hunters smells Betrayal and buys the building himself. One doesn’t do Hookups where the other won’t risk long term. Can these two make something happen? When secrets are revealed things change. Betrayal is the third book in the Choosing Family series by Jennifer Raines. It is an enemies to lovers contemporary romance with betrayal, family dynamics/drama, angst, secrets, chemistry, friendship, spice, and some emotion.
Anna Turner (whom we met in Book #1 as she is Kate’s twin sister) has worked really hard on a project to provide much-needed daycare services for her company (employer), only to have it fall apart at the last minute by a hostile takeover.
Hunter Thompson’s father is set to take over the building, but Hunter beats him to the punch. No love lost there. But circumstances arise where these two will need to work together to see the project though. What happens when their simmering chemistry begins to bubble over? And what happens when secrets are revealed? Will their blossoming relationship survive the fallout? No spoilers from me- so you really should read all the intriguing developments for yourself.
The series consists of:
-Masquerade (Book #1)
-Quinn, By Design (Book #2)
-Betrayal (Book #3)

Masquerade is the first book in the Choosing Family series by Jennifer Raines. It is a fun contemporary romance/women’s fiction story with two sets of twins making for twice the trouble, secrets, chemistry, quirky characters, family, drama, angst, environmental messages, and finding love unexpectedly.
Liam has a lot riding on the success of his next ‘project’, so it’s crucial that nothing goes wrong….. except that he has an identical twin brother who is making things difficult with his high-profile media presence. Add in past failures, and family drama, and Liam might just have bitten off more than he can chew.
Kate has problems of her own to deal with. She takes a job as his research assistant as a ‘cover’ for her other ‘occupation’- as romance author. But her meddling twin may have coaxed her into an even more complicated situation. What happens when secrets are revealed? This is well worth the read to find out.

This book shows the layers to people, like prejudging others before you get to know them.

This story is about 2 sets of twins and them swapping being one another for a reason (you’ll have to read to learn more). It’s very detailed and realistic to how these people perceive one another and then they learn more about why that person comes off that way and how they actually are.

Love the 2 main characters and their whole journey throughout. Researcher/writer and a lawyer working together and learning about one another along the way. Both main characters had been betrayed by past lovers and this story shows their struggle to learn to trust and let someone in. And loved that it included a sneak peek into the second book which the main character will be one of the characters from this book (I always love that in a series). Great read and loved how the story all played out.

Love seeing series that tell the stories of characters from the first book of the series that weren’t the main character then but are now. This book has one of the girls from the sets of twins (2 guy and 2 girls) from the first book telling her story of having something she wants to accomplish and finding out a way to make that happen. I love that it shares details of what’s current with the characters of the first book of the series as well. I absolutely loved the whole story and how it all played out from learning how each character had been betrayed by people they knew and how they learned to confront and move past it, and did they learn to trust and love another at the end? You’ll have to read this book to find out and get all the details of the whole story. I really liked Book 1 Masquerade but i absolutely loved Book 3 Betrayal (now I’ll just have to read Book 2 as well).

Betrayal is a tangled web of lies and an apt title for this story. The story of Anna and Hunter both no strangers to betrayal. The story has a strong emotional core that allows us to connect with the characters and become emotionally invested in their story.
Anna is fiercely loyal and cares. Promises have been ripped away and she will fight for what she thinks is right be damned who gets in her way.
Hunter’s father is a menace and king of hostile take overs. He doesn’t care as he rips his way through organisations leaving Hunter to try to clean ups his messes. For some reason this time is different.
Secrets from their past come back to haunt them and may just destroy everything they have built.
