Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides SeriesIsabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides Series by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and she now has a new fan. I absolutely love a good historical romance but this story exceeded all my expectations. You can’t help but to fall for these characters right away. I was so addicted to this book it only took me a little over a day to read. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.

Isabella is so excited to go to America. She is going to find her dream life. When she gets there it is nothing like what she thought. Isabella loses her job and then her parents in a horrible fire. She is now alone and doesn’t know what to do until she here’s about mail order brides. Isabella will marry a rich and wealthy man. She is so excited to meet her husband but she has a bad feeling something is going to happen to her once again. Isabella is being watched closely by Donald, who is on a case of a missing woman. Will Isabella find her true love or will she find more danger instead?

The Happily Ever After Bookstore by Bernadette Marie – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this story! It was a three part book, so it was like having 3 mini books in 1! I love how they all started and ended in a bookstore, one of my favorite places to be! Everything starts at Leona’s book store where we meet Sadie and Charlie, two singles people trying to making it through the holidays, and then Fiona, a famous author, and Price a traveling musician who after years of being divorced, are reunited at the bookstore and small town. Leona sets up a book signing and ensures Price will be there, is that the nudge they need to make it work? Part 3 Leona meets Jon, a fix it man, who is working on the building her bookstore is in. The thread the winds through all of the stories is a love story about a woman named Ellen who met a man named Charlie and the next day they ran away on a train and got married and their happily ever after resonates through all of these stories. I just loved the writing and I loved how well written the characters were. This was such a sweet story, I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I will be checking out the rest of her books!

Emotional and beautiful
This book has all the feels. Absolutely love Evan and Callie’s story. This is the first book I have read from this author and it won’t be the last. I see that this is book 7 of the Bellevue Bullies series and I can’t wait to check the other books out. Well written, I was quickly swept up in the emotion of the story. The banter flies easily and there is a rawness to the story as it tackles some real life issues. Highly recommend.

Castor’s Kiss (Soul Bonded in the Stars Book 2) by Tai James – Review by Rayne East

Castor's Kiss (Soul Bonded in the Stars # 2)Castor’s Kiss by Tai James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Soulmates, warriors and universal battles
An interplanetary adventure of a different kind. This is book 2 and even though I haven’t read book 1 (which I will have to rectify soon) I did not feel lost. Brilliantly written, this book had me anxiously turning the pages to get the answers. Castor and Mia are amazing characters and their emotional pain permeates from the page. There’s battles, lots of drama, a splattering of romance and a hard to accept soulmate bond to deal with as Castor and Mia fight to keep alive. Highly recommend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Marriage, Mystery and Murder.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. The author is very easy to read and the world building of the mining town and the era was spot on. It felt as though I was there in amongst the characters. I connected instantly with Alyssa and her strength of character. The historical aspect is well researched and it was woven well within the storyline. The emotions of the girls comes through as they embarked on their journey to discover a new life as a miner’s wife. A brilliant cozy mystery for an afternoon escape.

Edge of your seat thriller
Emotional, confronting and brutal at times, this book is not for the light hearted. The author holds nothing back and has produced a brilliant story that holds the reader captive from start to finish. I didn’t even realise I was holding my breath for most of the book. The plot is well developed and deals with confronting issues with sensitivity. The emotional vulnerability of PTSD bleeds through the pages. A must read.

Drama, emotion and soul searching
This is the fourth book in the Firehouse 13 series. I have read several books by this author so I was excited to dive in and I was not disappointed. Some parts are highly emotional and the romance isn’t a bed of roses either. Sol takes some getting used to as he is so full of angst and pain. A highly charged read.

Love is Worth Fighting for (The Meraki Series Book 3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris

Love is Worth Fighting forLove is Worth Fighting for by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I started this story I had not read the previous 2 books and I was worried it would make it hard to follow along with the storyline of this book, but I thought the author did a great job of touching on information from previous books with just enough information I didn’t feel confused, but not so much information that I felt like it would be pointless to check them out. After reading this story, I fully intend to read the first 2 books to see Krystina’s older sisters’ stories. This was such a great book; I loved reading about Krystina and Loukas’s relationship and the history behind her hurt and his guilt. I loved how the author would give the different characters the POV and we got to go back to the past and see her grandmother’s relationship begin with her now missing grandfather. The author did a great job of describing the panic and uncertainty when the pandemic hit and how families and businesses had to navigate through it. Overall it was a great story that made me laugh and cry. I can’t wait to read the first 2 books and the 4th book by the author.

Witty rom com with paranormal twist
The second book in the series and it is just as good. The story picks up straight away and Morgan has made great progress with her house guests and things start to change with her abilities. I really enjoy Morgan’s narrative, with the laugh out loud moments interwoven with mystery, drama and romance. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Feisty, flirty and fun
I really love this series and book 3 did not disappoint. This book focuses on the billionaire Pierce brother Seth and journalist Victoria. It’s a rocky road but a fun ride to their HEA. The little snippets from the other brothers scattered throughout were a treat too. Eagerly await Noah’s story.

Spoilsport (Pierce Brothers, #2)Spoilsport by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Strong, steamy and sweet
This is the second book in the Pierce Brothers series and is just as good as book one. I loved Nadia in the first book and she did not disappoint in this one – though at times a bit OTT, she kept true to being strong, funny and fiercely independent. Luke is steadfast and serious due to his past. It takes lots of bumps and turns (and some compromises) to get these two anywhere close to their HEA. So looking forward to book 3!

Small world doesn’t begin to describe it when Nadia goes out with her friend to meet her friend’s boyfriend who happens to be her ex-friend with benefits. A misunderstanding leaves her with little trust with him and a little hatred as well. We all know love and hate is a fine line and watching them tiptoe it, becomes even more entertaining when she hires him to renovate her house. Belinda does it again and you can’t help but fall in love with Nadia, Luke and even his little girl Esme.

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove Book 1) by Shannon Nikole – Review by Amanda Haller-Doris

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove #1)Finding Starlight by Shannon Nikole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a wonderful debut novel by the author! From the first page it hooked me in and I couldn’t stop reading until the final page. I found it a well written story with well-developed characters, and I absolutely love the name Ellawyn or Ellie for the main character. You could really relate to the characters in the story, they weren’t perfect and I thought the author did a fantastic job of show realistic reactions to the different events in the story. There was a nice balance of mystery, suspense, and romance throughout the storyline. The small town vibe felt spot on and it seems like such a wonderful place to visit. I loved the interactions between Ellie and Benji and how sweet they were together and it was a pleasant surprise at how steamy the relationship between Ellie and Beckett got. I am so excited to read the second novel coming out later this year!

The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising, #1)The Mastermind by Nadia Han
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Romance with a thrilling twist
This was brilliantly written. Remi and Audri are amazingly characters – well developed and with underlying flaws that made them so real and relatable. The story is multilayered with suspense and drama that kept me vested right until the end. Starts as a best friend’s sister romance but moves in to so much more. A strong first book in the series (can be read as a stand-alone) and I can’t wait to read more about the Waterfyre Men.

Such a sweet character. Jake is afraid to go to daycare, because he’s nervous to make new friends for different reasons. But he gives it a try with the help of his squirrel friend. He eventually finds 2 new friends there, one just as shy as he is, and he soon learns he had nothing to worry about. This is a great story to read to your kids to teach them to try new things. I love the Jake series, he’s a sweet heart and I love the messages behind them. Each book has its own message and fun activities to do with your child in the back.

Enthralling thriller
This book takes you on a roller coaster of events and keeps you guessing right til the very end. Took me by surprise. The writing is good and I was quickly drawn into the story. The twists were delivered seamlessly and had me searching for the breadcrumbs. This is clean in the romance department but does touch on murder, guns, and drug use.

Sweet contemporary romance.
This little gem of a book has 3 stories that are interconnected and built around a very special book store. This is a clean romance with a bit of comedy, drama and HEA. Very cleverly written so that there is a natural flow from one story to the next and the timeline doesn’t miss a beat. A brilliant quick read.

The Titans of Manhattan series continues with Jonas’ and Mackenzie’s story. Jonas is a playboy living the high life with no plans of slowing down. So many times while reading I wanted to pick up the habit of nail biting lol just because I was anxious. The main character, Nora, is just an all around badass! Highly recommend this book!

Unique story with shapeshifters, drama and mystery based in a dystopian world. Coyote’s Road Trip is the prequel to Raven Woman’s Tavern, and takes the reader on a journey told by Coyote. The author has done a fantastic job of bringing the reader into Coyote’s mind and interweaving the world as interpreted by him. There are a lot of layers to the story that will appeal to many readers from climate change to grief and finding happiness in the smallest of things.
