This author never disappoints me! I love the writing in this series so much. I enjoy getting to know the characters better and better throughout the books – including the ones we met in past books. I also really love the mafia trope in general so continuing this series was a no brainer for me!

Queue the muscle and tension! I haven’t read the previous books but I think even though i didn’t know the backstory, I could still make sense of everything! I’ll definitely be going back to read the others though!
I really loved that Sasha and Lazarus didn’t want the attraction – it made for some good banter and tension throughout. I am so happy that Lazarus ended up with Sasha. They seem to be a great fit for each other!

I loved this book simply because of the “not all peaches and roses” theme it had! I really appreciated the banter between the two main characters and how they had tension but came together in the end. I really enjoyed how it was purely out of convenience but ended in a happily ever after!

I actually really appreciated the slower burn and getting to know the characters for who they were aside from the little bit we learned in the first book. I also really enjoyed learning about their history and how it affected them in their current lives. I have always loved Amy McKinley and her books so this is definitely a series I want to continue reading!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a good fall read for me! I really enjoyed the angst between them and how it created this trust in the end for them. At first I wasn’t really sure if it was going to be any different from other romance novels I’ve read but I appreciate the turmoil that they had to get through. Definitely recommend for a quick read!

I haven’t read the rockstar trope yet but I really did love it! I loved the innocence of the story and how we got to know the thoughts in both of their heads. I think having the rockstar theme in along with the friends to lovers makes for a good heartfelt story in which you’re rooting for them the entire time!

I read this with my 4 year old and while he didn’t quite have the attention span to pay attention the whole time we read (we sat down a few different times to read a little) he still seemed to be interested! It was fun to learn as we read! I would definitely stick with the age they specified though since its more advanced. Still a good book though!

It was a page turner for sure! It’s been a little while since I read a book that quickly and it had the perfect amount of story and steam. I loved the inner dialogue of Kay because if I were in that situation I’d probably be having the same thoughts. Definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While I’m not typically a slow burn romance reader, I loved this one because the character details were so real and I was sucked into learning about them and before I knew it, I was into the romance part. I love love LOVED how their relationship in the beginning was burning but they also had a slight dislike for each other. Maybe its the enemy to lovers that I love but regardless, I think tis a great start to the series and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My favorite part about this book was the fact that it is so relatable. You have a guy who got his heart broken and a girl who works her butt off and you get a romance that you can totally see in your own life. It’s an easy read and I got through it relatively quickly. It would be a good weekend read for anyone who enjoys light hearted romance!

This was definitely a page turner for me! I was so invested in the story and kept wanting to know what was going to happen next, which isn’t surprising for me since Amy McKinley’s other books were like that for me as well. I enjoyed reading this story as I’m sure plenty of other suspense romance readers will as well!

Read this one on a weekend and it was definitely the quick read that I was looking for! I loved the instant attraction they had and the loyalty that the main characters showed each other from the start. It had its witty moments as well as a few serious ones but all in all it was a very sweet story!

I read this story with my oldest, who is 4 years old. Although it seems like it would be better for older kids, I still think the lesson resonated with my 4 year old as well! It was a great learning tool, especially with the activities at the end. It brought a simple yet serious conversation (as serious as one can get with a younger kiddo) that might not have happened as organically had I not picked up this book to read with him! Already looking forward to reading some of the other Jake The Growling Dog books!

So so sweet! I loved how it gave the backstory and helped build the world they were currently living in. It was so realistic and relatable – I wanted MORE at the end! I would love to follow their story and see where life takes them simply because of how real the story was, including the thoughts they had in their heads and the feelings they showed each other. It’s a feel good love story that I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud to throughout the entire book!

I really loved the story line and how we got to see a glimpse into their thoughts. I haven’t read a story with those triggers before but I am glad I read this one because it just shows that not every love story has that perfect narrative but can still end up as a happily ever after. Even though we don’t necessarily get that HEA at the end, I’m guessing it will come. I’ll definitely need to read the books that came before this one as well to get to know the characters a little better!

The Heart of Baker Bay by Danielle Jacks – Review by Katie Mansfield

At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of Jody. I thought she was kind of needy and I didn’t really understand her as a character. But as I read, I grew to like her odd quirks and I learned why she had certain feelings about herself – she grew on me as I got to see her through Adam’s eyes. I really appreciated having his point of view as well because it added to character development throughout. It was an easy read and had a sweet ending.

I haven’t read a short and sweet romance story yet so this was a first for me – definitely to the point and a great summer read. I read in about 30 minutes so its a good one to take along to the beach or if you just want something that isn’t super involved with time! I really liked how the characters weren’t ones that you’d typically put together but they knew they had something!

Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, a twist is thrown in and changes the story! I haven’t read a ton of suspense/romance novels but I think this one opened my eyes to the possibility of reading more because of the emotions I went through trying to figure out how it was all going to end! I loved the character development as well – I really felt like I knew the characters, even the side characters!

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams

I loved how we knew as the reader that the relationship would come but it was a slower burn to get there. The character development as well as getting to know the thoughts inside their heads were a great part of the story overall! I loved that the story was told from both characters as well so that we could make connections ourselves. I found myself saying “Why can’t you see what’s happening right in front of your face?!” more often than not! It was a sweet story and a great quick summer read!

I loved how both of the characters changed for the better throughout the story – and they helped to change each other! It was a sweet love story and a great quick read! I really like having a quick read every once in a while, especially when it involves characters who are so relatable like Setter and Casey. I could totally see this in real life too so it was just all around enjoyable! Great book!

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Series Book 2) by Amy McKinley – Review by Katie Mansfield

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops, #2)Bound by Secrets by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I typically like stand alone books better BUT Amy Mckinley makes each of her books connect in a way that its not super necessary to read the book before it (so far from what I can tell) and you can still understand the story. Like the first book in this series, I love how they didn’t really wait for their relationship to bloom..it already had years prior and they knew it was just right. I love how much Jaxon cared for Kayla and did whatever needed to make sure she was safe. This book was not short of any twists or turns, either! An easy read and definitely a favorite!

I was hooked from the first page! I didn’t realize how much I love suspense romance stories until I was brought into the world of Riley and Zander – I’m not typically one to love fast romances either but the author made their relationship so easy to love and cheer for. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series! Very well written with unexpected scenes which make you keep turning the page!

This specific type of book is a little outside my normal but I really loved how strong the main character, Allegra, was. Even though she sometimes seemed to “bow down”, she didn’t truly back down. She still had that fire inside her that you could tell wouldn’t go away any time soon.
