The Debt Collector (An Underground Bad Boys Romance Book 1) by India Kells – Review by Katie McEwen

The Debt Collector (An Underground Bad Boys Romance)The Debt Collector by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was completely captivating! I listened on my commute to and from work and found myself leaving for work early for extra listening time because the suspense of knowing where the story was going was KILLING me! I really liked the characters in this book. They seemed very real to me and I loved how the author did that. Also, steamy romance can be a hit or miss for me depending on the author’s language during those steamy scenes and India Kells definitely has the right words! Dan Price narrates this book and does a great job differentiating the different characters. I always knew who was sayin what and could feel their emotion through his voice. This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to get my hands on another!

Confidentiality (Scope of Practice Book 2) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Katie McEwen

ConfidentialityConfidentiality by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I would like to start by saying that I LOVE LOVE LOVE a book that leaves me guessing the ENTIRE time and actually surprises me. I read a lot of crime novels and there is nothing worse than knowing “whodunnit” on page 5 and being right the entire book. Jessica Aiken Hall did an amazing job with that in Confidentiality (Scope of Practice Book 2). You are left guessing and if you think you have it figured out, you are very likely wrong. Valerie’s life is finally coming together. She has great friends, a great fiance, her support group is going amazingly…all until a serial killer pops up. Her need to protect will put her in danger. Will she figure out what is going on and how it is all tied together? Jessica Aiken Hall does a great job sensitively touching on difficult subjects and also writing in some great banter with Val and her fiance Tim. All in all, I highly recommend this book.

Boundaries (Scope of Practice Book 1) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Katie McEwen

Boundaries (Scope of Practice, #1)Boundaries by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Boundaries (Scope of Practice Book 1) By Jessica Aiken-Hall is a book that will suck any reader who likes a good mystery right in. I thought that the story line was great. It could have built up a little bit quicker, but at the same time, I would be afraid something else would have gotten lost if it did. My favorite thing about this book is definitely how relatable the main character, Valarie is. (For me at least) She is anti-social, but she is still out there in the world doing what she needs to do and even investigating a murder! The relationship that the author shows between Valarie and the detective she works with is also great. All in all, this book is definitely worth reading. It it hard to say too much without giving away too much, and it is so interesting to learn about Valerie’s past as you go. Definitely part of the intrigue. I would highly recommend this as a 5 star read!

Humiliating Revenge: Contemporary Young Adult Romance by T. Christensen – Review by Katie McEwen

Humiliating RevengeHumiliating Revenge by T. Christensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Humiliating Revenge is a Young Adult Romance by T. Christiensen. This book had so many different elements to it, it was difficult to pinpoint which element was my favorite. The relationship between the main characters and how their relationship unfolds is definitely an interesting one. I won’t give that away because I would hate to ruin one of the best parts of the book. Also, the main character’s relationship with her father is relatable to anyone who has ever gone through any kind of domestic violence. I think it is important that we see these kinds of relationships in literature more often so that it brings them to light. I like how the author addressed the situations. The “steamy” parts of the book, I felt, were absolutely perfect for a Young Adult romance. When reading a young adult romance I look for a certain level of steam and romance, but not too much and this book delivered perfectly! I would highly recommend this book.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Katie McEwen

Mountains Climbed (Mountains, #2)Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Phoebe Alexander has done it again in Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2). I really enjoyed the first book, but this sequel is also amazing. This book still focuses on Sarah and James as the two main characters. James has gone off on deployment and can NOT get Sarah out of his head. Sarah has tried moving on, but can’t get James out of her head. A distraction seems to be just that to both James and Sarah. All of the things that made the first book wonderful are present again in book 2. You are left feeling all sorts of emotions and want to keep reading. This is a story you truly do not want to end.

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Katie McEwen

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander

Mountains Wanted is definitely quite the read! It is fun and steamy and you don’t want to put it down right from page one. I literally caught myself chuckling with the main character, Sarah after the first sentence of the book. Obviously I HAD to see where the author took it from there! I could tell you all about the story, but if you read the book, you will get the plot. To me, the most important part is how this book made me feel! It made me feel angry, it made me laugh, it definitely made me appreciate the steamy moments!

Sarah and James create a story that you are left wanting so much more of! Thankfully there is a sequel because I know that I definitely can NOT wait to read it! As always, Pheobe Alexander did an amazing job at truly making the reader want to keep reading, a true sign of a wonderful author. A 5 star read for sure!

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set: (Books 1-2-3) Vigilante Justice Thriller Series by Mark Nolan – Review by Katie McEwen

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set (Jake Wolfe #1-3)Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 Star Read!

I am a sucker for a good box set and this one definitely did not disappoint! From book one page one, you were captivated by Jake Wolf and his companion, Cody, an ex-military dog. (I thought Cody was a genius addition to the story, for sure)

Jake Wolfe spends all 3 books in the box sets as the antagonist doing a variety of things that lead the reader through a series of twists and turns that leave you wonder where Nolan is going to take them and Jake next. It is so hard to put each book down in order to do things like go to work because you just want to know what is going to happen next.

By the end of the third book, you have a really great sense of who Jake is and what he is about. Mark Nolan leaves you wanting more and more of Jake Wolfe and his investigations! I look forward to reading many more books by Mark Nolan in the future, what a talented author!

Rule (The Larussio Legacy Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Katie McEwen

Rule The Larussio Legacy (#1)Rule The Larussio Legacy by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rule, by Via Mari is a suck you in type of book. Via Mari has a way of writing that makes you want to keep reading the minute you start. The characters are so real and so easy to relate to. If you like a book with substance but also a book with some nice steamy pages, this is the book for you. Katarina, one of the main characters is on a mission to fulfill her fathers dream after he is injured in a mob hit. Chase will do whatever it takes to protect her in the process. The suspense, the mob story, and the love in this book make it a great read! Definitely a 5 star read.
