This is the 3rd book in the Found Families Series but this is the first one I have read. This was a great read. The story was compelling and I could not put it down. Harry and Trey are great together and the banter between them is fun. The twists and turns kept me guessing till the end.

This is the third book in the series but it can be read as a standalone, I read it as a standalone and do agree. It was a fast-paced read with lots of twists and turns, I loved the combination of mystery and a touch of romance. Highly recommended.

A Girl, Stuck (A Novel) by Kelly Elizabeth Huston- 5 out of 5 stars
This book had great character development with plenty of twists and turns that kept drawing me in. The cover art doesn’t draw much to the eye but the authors words breathe life into the pages. Although this book is the third in the series, it can be as a standalone without feeling as if you have missed something important. I can not wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this book.

This was pretty thrilling. Lots of twists and turns along the way. The pace of the book was great. Never a dull moment. The characters were well thought out and developed. I absolutely love Auntie Leo. The mob crime scenes can be a little intense . I didn’t realize this was part of a series when I first started reading it but it works as a stand alone as well.

A girl, stuck (Found Family series), this book is such a fun ride! This book takes you on a roller coaster of events, that will have you cheering Harry, the protagonist on. She is smart, funny, sarcastic and stubborn to a fault, all characteristics that I can relate too. The characters around her are varied and interesting in their own right. Harry is a daughter of a lawman, who when tailing an up and coming mobster, sees him as more than what he does, this is just the beginning of a wild ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages. This fun and lively book is a must read.

This novel is the first one I’ve read in this series. At first, I didn’t realize that this selection was in the middle of the series until I started reading it. I was a bit confused at first but was able to piece the missing parts that helped me better understand the flow of the storyline. Harriet or Harry, a P.I. as well as a professor, delves into a case to distract her from her personal life. She ends up bumping into the culprit in which she is tracking, Trey Popov, with a dark family past. Attraction builds coincidentally and Harriet uses it to her advantage to get closer to Trey. I really enjoy learning more about Harriet’s character and how determined she can be. Just as many great suspenseful romance thrillers, this story has twists and turns and keeps its readers’ on its toes. I look forward to reading the previous two and more to come.

This was an absolutely incredible book that took me by surprise! I didn’t know what I was getting into because by the cover you may think it would be a leisurely read. You would be wrong! The synopsis let me know that I was in for a thrilling, mafia-filled ride. Although I read it before realizing it was part of a series, I think it does pretty well as a standalone. I will definitely be picking up the other books just because this author has captured my attention! I loved that the characters are well thought out and feel very relatable. The flow of the story kept me engrossed from page one to the end all in one day. If you’re looking for a romantic suspense novel that will keep you entertained, look no further!

A Girl, Stuck is Book Three in the Found Families Series. It is a romantic suspense full of drama, angst, mystery, intrigue, suspense, action, adventure, law enforcement, crime, mafia, attraction, and forbidden romance. The story centers around the MC of Harriet Smith, or Harry, as she prefers. A gutsy, tough as nails, private investigator who does not get intimidated easily and who prefers to face fear and danger head-on. When Harry’s dad is murdered, she sets out to solve the crime which takes her deep into the criminal underworld. Along the way she meets Trey Popov, who is quickly rising amongst the Trubetzkoy crime family. Harry finds herself attracted to Trey but the romance between them is forbidden and she finds herself conflicted about which side of the law she is on. This was a brilliantly written story full of twists and turns that kept me hooked until the final pages. The characters were well developed, and I was instantly drawn to the character of Harry because of her feisty attitude.

This book took me on a ride that I did not expect and that I found myself not wanting to get off of! The book was so full of twists and turns and just overall mystery. There were people’s characters truly not being who you think they were. I felt that the character of Harry and Trey were two very strong, developed and likable characters, and that was a big part of making the story what it is. While the book is a series you can definitely read each of them as a standalone. I am very much looking forward to going back and reading the other books in this series! This book and this author did not disappoint, so pick up a copy and read it for yourself!

Loved this book! Harry was such a great character that had me loving her from the very beginning. So many layers, lots of character development, and a few twists and turns to the reader on his/her toes. Leo made the perfect neighbor/bestie and just so much wonderful content in this book. I went through so many different emotions while reading this book and just couldn’t put it down. So good! So I enjoyed parts of this story and others not so much. I liked a lot at times because of the Interaction between her and Trey but the other times was a lot of descriptive paragraphs and to me..filler. There is something to be said for setting a scene but overdoing it just leads to boredom.
The tension and suspense perpetuated between these two in intense and has that “hook” appeal. That is what keeps the pages turning. When will they see each other again? Or what will happen if they do? Seeing them together is what makes the story go…..well also Leo.
Overall it is an okay read. I could easily put it down and had to force myself a time or two to get back to it. Once I started skimming the descriptive pages it went much faster. I feel the story needs more. I did not feel for the characters when injured or worry about them when in tense situations. The title fits in here nicely.

A Girl, Stuck was an easy read that I enjoyed however I felt like something was missing! The characters were nice and I guess you could say everyone knows someone like them, but do we want to know the characters or do we want to live in an alternate universe while reading?!? I did enjoy trying to guess what would happen next only to find out I was wrong! It kept me turning the page.

A Girl, Stuck (Found Families Series) by Kelly Elizabeth Huston. Harry Smith is a Private Investigator and Criminology Professor and she has thrown herself into her work to try to forget about her breakup. When she meets Trey Popov a member of the biggest crime family in town she plays it cool. She tries to act like just a normal schoolteacher so she can get into his world. Not only is she recovering from heartache but she’s also still grieving the murder of her detective dad. Getting close to Trey is a very dangerous task but Harry is 100% committed. Trey is very attracted to Harry and doesn’t have a clue she is working against him, until he does. Things blow up and Harry is in a very precarious position. Will she be able to take down the biggest crime family in town or will they take her down first. This is a turn the pages late in the night to finish book and I loved every minute of it.

Honestly I was judging this cover, it made me feel like I was going to be reading a historical novel, didn’t grab my attention at first. Once you learn where the cover is from you’re instantly all “ooooooo.” It’s great, I actually love the cover now. I really loved all the characters in the book, I wish there was a sequel just so I could get some more of Leo, he’s great. Definitely a ride or die friend. I felt an instant connection with Harry and Trey, I love them together, even with the small space no touching rules. Not going to lie my anxiety was going when Harry came home to Trubetzkoy but she came through with some bad ass moves that I wasn’t expecting. I don’t know how to talk about the ending without spoiling it. I wasn’t expecting it and then I was trying to figure out what I missed for her to have guess right and I didn’t see it at first. I will say, I’m glad there’s a happy ending, I think my only complaint is I fell in love with everyone I want more, I would love to see what happens when Harry moves away.

Harry and Trey were a match made in somewhere. I hope they figure it out. The chemistry between them was palpable from their opening banter. They are adorable together.
Harriet “Harry” Smith is stuck. She has been in the same routine for way too long. Harry’s birth parents gave her up for adoption by leaving her on the steps of a police precinct as an infant. Luckily the officer that found her fell in love and adopted her. It was just Harry and her dad (and all the officers) until 5 years ago when he was killed in the line of duty. Harry took a different path than planned.
Trey Popov is a petty criminal that has recently appeared on the scene in connection with the local Russian mob. Trey runs into Harry when she is asked to trail Trey. Harry is a Private Investigator that has been employed by the NYPD. There is an instant connection between Harry and Trey. Except….they can’t. They can’t be in a relationship together because of who they are.
You might figure out the secret if you keep up with all the clues, twists, and turns. You might not. When it comes out, you will know.
Excellent read! Family is really who you choose to have in your life.

A Girl, Stuck is part of the Found Families series. Though I have not read other books in the series, this one can be enjoyed as a standalone book. Harriet, better known as Harry, is a tough PI and criminology professor. I enjoyed getting to know her in this story. She is confident and daring by going undercover to get intel on the Trubetzkoy crime family. I expected a private investigator but enjoyed her unconventional style and approach to gain the upperhand in the situation. The story is pretty fast-paced and kept me reading and wanting more. I also enjoyed the romantic elements of the story as well as the dialogue. I’m now curious to pick up other books by this author. I want to pick up other books in this series to get more insight into other recurring characters in the series.

A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families series by new-to-me author, Kelly Elizabeth Huston. This has a bit of a romantic suspense vibe about it- mixed with woman’s fiction. The author has woven an angsty and emotional story full of drama, mystery, suspense, tension, hope, redemption, mafia, law enforcement, investigation, and darker elements. You may want to read the content warning before diving in. I have to be honest here and say that this cover really doesn’t do the book any justice (in my opinion). If I were browsing, looking for books, this cover would never have caught my attention, or even rated a second glance really. Because, if it were not for the book being recommended in our reading group, I would never have picked it up. A great cover really makes a difference, and I feel the author is missing out on capturing more attention. I also didn’t realise going into this book that it was the third book in the series, but thankfully it can be read as a standalone without feeling like I was missing anything important. But having said that, I will definitely be going back to read the first two books to find out what happened there and see if there are any interconnected details that flow through to this book, before continuing with the series. And after exploring the authors Goodreads page, I notice that there is no consistency with the covers in the series either- which again, I would have overlooked if I had been browsing and not specifically ‘hunting’. I don’t mind the cover for Book #1, it has some appeal- but the second one is definitely forgettable… sorry to say this because this author can write an engrossing story, and I feel like her books may not be getting the attention that they deserve due to forgettable/unappealing covers. Again, this is just my opinion, and the cover/s didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. The story is impactful and intriguing- and the character/s are well-developed individual/s with their own unique quirks and flaws. The character/s continued to develop and grow over the course of the story- adding an extra element of interest to the overall storyline. Looking forward to “See Sadie Jane Run” Book #4 – due to release later this year (2024). Happy Reading

The author is new to me and I was very glad that even though the book is part of a series, each book can be read as a standalone. It was pretty easy to figure out the characters and I didn’t feel like I missed anything. Once you start reading this book, you will want to keep reading it. The characters are well written and you may change your mind about some of them as you are digesting the story.
Harriet Smith, nicknamed “Harry” is a private investigator. She is attempting to find the person who killed her father. Harry is strong and independent but also has a softer side like many women. There are many twists and turns in the book which adds to the world the author created. I enjoyed Harry’s character and look forward to reading the earlier books in the series.

Kelly Elizabeth Huston’s book “A Girl, Stuck” was such a fascinating read, I loved all of the unexpected twists and turns that it took. The characters are not who you think they are, which adds so much to the story, it builds intrigue and adds to the storyline. They are beautifully developed, and the storyline moves so quickly that it is easy to get drawn into the character’s lives. I love that Harry is a P.I. which is unusual in most books like this but plays wonderfully with the bad boy that Trey portrays. It’s awesome to follow along as these two navigate their friendship while the spark of romance simmers in the background. Some really scary instances in the story play out, so be warned that there is violence and other adult content within this story, but it is all toned appropriately for the reader. The author did a great job keeping to a realistic storyline, while not overdramatizing the experiences that arise for our main characters. This was a must-read if you are looking for a suspenseful book with a budding romance. @Brandy Rymer 03/2024

An entertaining and engaging romantic crime story which is full of suspense and which kept me hooked throughout. Main character Harriet “Harry” Smith is a tough if slightly reckless private investigator and a criminology professor in New York City. She’s on a surveillance job when she comes face to face with Trey Popov, who is a rising star in the Trubetzkoy crime family. Harry manages to escape and on their second meeting she is working undercover as a schoolteacher, but can’t help but feel an attraction to Trey. Despite wanting to climb the criminal ladder Trey can’t deny the connection he and Harry have, even though they are putting themselves in danger. Meanwhile, Harry is also looking for justice for her police detective father who was murdered. The descriptive narrative brings both the setting and the characters vividly to life, which made me feel fully immersed in the story. The storyline has plenty of plot twists which kept me guessing as to the outcome of the story, and although it’s part of a series it can be read as a standalone story. However, having met Harry in this novel I am keen to read the previous books in the series.

A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families Series and is a Romantic Suspense that will have you turning the pages till the end. This can be read as standalones but I’m definitely going to check out the other two books in this series. I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in , but what I found was a wonderfully written story with characters that I couldn’t get enough of. I pretty much devoured this book in one afternoon because I simply had to know how everything was going to play out. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next and im looking forward to reading more from this Author.

This is the first book I have read by Kelly, and I found I really liked it. I have read this as a standalone and not read the first two books. Although they follow on from each other they can be read as standalones as I did, and I did not feel as though I was missing out. A Girl, Stuck is a fun fast-paced crime story that is at times dark but intriguing. It is full of suspense, mystery, some violence and heartache but there is also laughter to be had at times too. It is a well written and engaging tale one that I could not be put down. Harry is no wilting flower; she is witty, and she can give as good as she gets but she also has a vulnerability about her hidden under her tough exterior. Whilst trying to solve her police detective dad’s murder she risks it all, reputation and career when she trespasses into the underworld of crime. Yet it is within this criminal world that she happens upon one that will change her world. A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families Series that should not be missed.

This book is a great story that is full of twists and turns the whole way through. I expected the story to be a mystery and to be intriguing, but I wasn’t expecting to find it so entertaining and amusing. I found it really made me connect to the characters even more. The book is the kind of one that has enough going on that I had to read it all in one sitting to see how it played out. This book is the first one that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed her writing style. It let you as the audience connect to the characters and everything that was going on. I thought this was an exciting read that I thoroughly enjoyed and I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

This was an excellent read. an exciting, suspenseful read that brings back “Harry” who meets Trey. She wants in and he wants out. I found the characters to have a terrific chemistry. Though there was danger around and in, the humor was also in the story. I laughed through a lot of it. It was a funny story with suspense and romance that I would definitely recommend. I will be going back to read the previous two.

This was a really intriguing and interesting read. It is a mixture of a crime, mafia, and romance all mixed together to create a unique story that I couldn’t put down. The author does an really great job with the characters as well. I loved Harriett. My heart went out to her as she struggles with things from her past as well as struggling with losing her father in the line of duty. She is on a mission to find out who murdered her father and knows she has to infiltrate the crime family to find the answers she is looking for. With her background and experiences she thinks this will be a walk in the park what she doesn’t expect is Trey.
Trey is part of the crime family and is set on working his way to the top. The chemistry between Harriett (Harry) and Trey is sizzling and could end up getting them both burnt. Harriett really wants him to change she believes it’s not too late for him to change but is she right? Could she be placing herself into a dangerous situation emotionally as well as physically?
This is a story filled with twists and turns, danger and intrigue. It is fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. I had to know whether Harriett solves the mystery of her father’s death and saves the man she is attracted to or if she will end up losing everything. This is a great read.
