This book is such a refreshing way to celebrate teachers, especially when the world is making their jobs more difficult. I can say from personal experience that teachers have full plates, and that we are humans. All teachers are different and act differently. I love how the story includes various ways that teachers look, act, and care about students. This book would be a great back to school gift for any teacher. I could also see this being a wonderful gift for elementary education graduates.

A very sweet dedication to teachers everywhere! This book shows that teachers have their students in their hearts all the time. I know many teachers and this book describes them all perfectly. This book should be given to all children as they enter primary school. A kids should reference it often!
In this retelling of Goldilocks and The Three Bears, instead of Goldilocks destroying the Bears home, she comes back to help fix the things that she broke using the simple machines she learned about. Everything from pully’s, inclines, the wheel, screws and the other simple machines she is able to right her wrongs that she did previously. Teaching about the six simple machines in a creative way is fantastic and adorable. My kids immediately wanted to try them out after they read this story and thought of different ways and little projects they could do.

My kiddos and I absolutely loved this story! The illustrations are beautiful and my youngest wanted me to linger on each page a little longer just to take them in. Every teacher is different with their styles and the way they relate to their students, but they ALL care so much about their kids year after year. Teachers love to watch their students finally grasp a concept or share knowledge they have with others in the class. I highly recommend reading this with the kids (and teachers) in your life!

Adorable! I’ve always had a soft spot for teachers. It’s something everybody in the world has experienced. We can all tell when a teacher really cares about their students and wants them to succeed. This book is great, it supports teachers, and helps show kids that teachers are people who care about them.
This was a great children’s book. It has fantastic pictures. It’s a good way to teach a little history of an awesome country. We enjoyed reading this book.

Short and to the point. Love all the pictures. Brings back memories. Will be reading it to my 10 month soon. Teachers are special because they teach us to learn.
I really enjoyed this read. It was quick and it was something I can connect with. I am a teacher and this hit close. Sometimes I feel that the feelings of teachers is overlooked. Especially in most recent years. This was a really beautiful book.

In this classic retelling of the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Lois Wickstrom has created a new classic with a science twist. Baby Bear has an issue that he needs help with so his family goes on a walk to think about a solution. In the meantime, Goldilocks shows up and does her thing with their home. In the end, Goldilocks teaches the family about the six simple machines that make our lives much easier.
I would recommend all of this author’s books. She writes engaging stories that are also educational. These stories should be in every family library, daycare, school, etc. and would make a great gift for a new family!

Shalom Israel is a wonderfully written children’s book that children of any age will enjoy. It takes on an tour of Israel through the streets from north to south and east to west. We learn the cultures and diversity . The pictures are very bright and vibrant and definitely brings the story to life. I love how its educational and teaches us how different countries different cultures and ways of doing things but we’re all the same. My five year old loved it. I highly recommend reading this book to children of any age I look forward to reading more from this Author.

Goldilocks Knows How to Use the Six Simple Machines
She goes bicycling through the woods and comes to the Three Bears home. But fear not! Goldilocks, the curious explorer, is a homewrecker no more.
She has learned to use the six simple machines. She fixes that broken chair. And the wobbly table. She uses an inclined plane to add milk to that too-hot porridge. She leaves the three bears’ home better than she found it. Some tools are too big. Some tools are too small. Goldilocks finds the ones that are just right!
When the bears come home and find her sleeping in that bed, they use a lever to lift her out. Then baby bear asks her for help with her project.
Will Goldilocks figure out how to use the six simple machines to help baby bear?
Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.
Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays.
She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.
Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children, four grandchildren and a dog.

I have a few mixed feelings about this book. First of all, it’s geared towards 10-14 years of age. This age group is going to love Lizzie’s story and totally get where she is coming from without any issues. I tried to see it from that perspective, however my 40+ year old mind sees it as an adult. Overall, I enjoyed the story very much but felt like Lizzie’s parents could have done more to guide her along the way. It seems like they were more wrapped up in their own lives to really give Lizzie and her brother the attention they deserved. On another hand, they did have their hands full and maybe just didn’t know how to handle everything coming at them at once. I get the impression that Lizzie’s day was trying to guzzle water from a firehose and it just wasn’t working.
That being said, again, this book was enjoyable and young readers will find humor in Lizzie’s antics. Hopefully they will also be able to learn from her choices and not make the same or similar ones. Learning that all actions have consequences, whether good or bad, is so important in this age group.
I do recommend reading this book, no matter your age! It would make for great discussion and maybe even some cave adventures of your own!

This was a cute picture book about all the different kinds of teachers. From the way they teach to the way they look with the reminder that they all have a teacher’s heart. This would be a good story for a child going into kindergarten or a child who is changing schools in elementary school.
This was a really sweet read and a great story to read to read to young children who are about to start school and may be feeling a little apprehensive about their teacher. The story has a lovely flow to it and is accompanied by some really nice and bright illustrations. The story is also a great introduction about diversity and how we are all different – it is simply done so young children would understand. A Teacher’s Heart is definitely a wonderful read and would be a great addition to any young child’s library!
I absolutely love reading kids books. When I saw this one it immediately drew me in and looked like something that I would enjoy reading! I look out for books that would be fun to read with my friends kids and this one was so cute! The illustrations were so vibrant and cute! This was such a quick fun read and I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

This book is so delightful and heart-warming! As a former teacher, I can confirm that it takes a big heart to teach kids and help them grow. The illustrations are colorful and interesting and definitely attention-grabbing. It is fun to read aloud and obviously fun to hear read aloud because my little asked for it several times again. I would recommend this book to any little, big, or current or former teacher, especially with school starting again soon (and even afterwards). I think anyone who reads this will be able to identify the teachers that they remember within these pages. 5 stars!

A Teacher’s Heart by Melissa Lavi. I loved this sweet book and so did my 5 year old nephew who is going into kindergarten. Its basically telling kids that all teachers are good no matter that they may look different, wear different clothes, have different colored hair and even teach different but hey all have a very big heart. Teachers go into teaching because they love kids no other reason. This would make a great gift especially for kids about to enter kindergarten or even preschool. Such pretty pictures as well. Great story and pictures, awesome for a gift.
This is a cute children’s book on the diversity of teachers. Just like the diversity in students, teachers are also just as different. Even though teachers are different, they all have one thing in common: they have a heart for their students.

Hole in the Rock is a quick paced fun tale for children in middle school aged 8 – 12 years. It is a story with a message that will imprint on those who listen. We follow along with Lizza’s adventures, her antics and plans that go awry. One where she soon learns that actions have consequences. What they mean not just to her but for her family. Not everyone has to agree and everyone makes mistakes and learning from them helps us grow and that is one of the messages that will be taken away by those that read this. This unique tale is full of action, family and friends and is learning tool for young minds to take in and ponder when making decisions for themselves. This book is so heartwarming! It has a melodic rhythm. There is a pleasing rhyme scheme. The illustrations go hand-in-hand with the words of the author. It makes my teacher- heart say, “Awwwww.”

Hole in the Rock is a book for kids between the ages of 10 to 14. Although intended for a younger audience I feel that it is a story that anyone could enjoy. The story centers around the character of Lizza, a twelve-year-old girl living in Moab, Utah. Lizza is smart, funny, fun-loving, and a huge lover of animals which can sometimes get her in trouble. She often rescues animals that are abandoned or injured and brings them home. Lizza even brought home a tarantula, much to her mother’s horror once it got loose in the house! When her dad decides to become a Taxidermist Lizza is horrified and determined to save the animals, so she sabotages his billboard that advertises his business. Then things get even worse for Lizza when her dad moves their family into a cave that is a tourist attraction and has strangers constantly wandering through her home. Lizza is determined to live in a real home again so she involves environmentalists and animal rights groups thinking that they can help. What Lizza did not expect is for matters to become worse for her family and for her actions to have unintended consequences. This was such a fun read as Lizza manages to get herself into one humorous situation after another. I highly recommend this book!

Hole in the Rock by Rebecca Bischoff. This is a great book for kids ages 8-12. My 10 year old nephew loved it. Its the story of Lizza who’s father is a taxidermist and she hates it. Lizza is quite the little character. At 12, she doesn’t like the career her father chose. Her actions to thwart his shop will have you laughing. The characters are terrific and each a unique personality. Her little brother has a spot in my heart. He seems to have autism. I think the younger crowd will love the adventures Lizza and her friends have. Even us old people will enjoy it. A very good book.

Animal-loving Lizza thinks nothing could be worse than her dad’s taxidermy business…until Dad moves the family into a cave. I took the time to read and review this book and I have to say that it is a good book for young children to learn about self care. I really like how the author is able to bring the subject to life for the audience she chose. The character is fun loving and is easy for children to understand. If my children were younger I would have definitely got them this book. I highly recommend this book for kids as everyone needs to learn how to take care of themselves.
