The Messy Kids by Lois Wickstrom is a fun children’s storybook with interesting, bright, and colourful illustrations that help to bring the story to life.
I found it to be a cute ‘adventure’ with lots of fun, aliens, a spaceship, and lessons about cleaning up after yourself. This is a bit of a quirky story with a touch of fantasy that proved to very engaging- feeding both the imagination, as well providing a few lessons along the way.
Suitable for children aged 4 to 8.

This is one of my favorite series to read to my kids! They love the adventures with Jophiel and even love pretending they have a Jophiel of their own. I personally enjoy getting to “visit” different places while reading the books, this time to Japan. The author paints such vivid picture that it makes you feel like you’re in Japan with Tally and Jophiel. We love this series and can’t wait to see what comes next!

Chester does not want to clean his room when his mom asked, so like any typical kid, he goes outside. While playing in his sand box, the “messy kids” come out to play. Eventually they follow him inside where Chester gets some help in cleaning up his room.
First of all, I LOVE the illustrations in this book! They are very vivid and appealing to the eye! Second, this is a story that kids can relate too. So can moms! It’s a good life learning story about the value of help, but also of teaching others what you need help with.

Ranger Marco, a raccoon, decides to help out a family of deer. He takes them on a people safari! The fawn learns a lot, especially when they’re on their own for a bit in the town. They give Marco a lot of questions which he tries to answer scientifically. It’s such a cute story with lessons, theories, and more. My toddler enjoyed listening and looking at the great pictures.

The Messy Kids is a fun 30-page story with bright and colourful illustrations by Nicolas Milano. The pictures bring Lois’s words to life. Children as well as adults will enjoy. It is nice to read children’s books that bring such joy.
I like that Lois’s stories have messages within and that we get to share these with our children or grandchildren or those that we love. These books are geared for kids ages 4-8 years of age. It is nice to sit with them and watch as the gears turn, and their imaginations run wild.
Chester has better things to do and honestly what child likes to clean up after themselves especially when it is not him making the mess. All he has to do is teach cat-faced aliens. Easy, right?
An excellent book not just for special occasions.

I always enjoy this author’s book and The Messy Kids is a fun story with full of imagination and wonderful illustrations.
Chester needs to clean his room up by his mothers request….but Chester has more fun things to think about and do. When he has The Messy Kids to help….will Chester be able to clean his room with the help and make his mother happy?
This story can be enjoyed for all ages and I know I certainly look forward to each book that this author writes as we all can learn how to be helpful and amazing!

Beautiful art work. Chester wants to to have the skills and qualities the messy kids have, he thinks they always do things better than he ever could, but, in the end, he is the leader, showing the messy kids how to clean up properly. I love this book showcases the good behind cleaning up your mess, being a leader instead of following along and, the imagination of children.

This is the funniest book I’ve read. Chester learns how to clean up messes the right way. This is a humorous story. My grandson and I read it in a restaurant yesterday waiting for our meal. We were giggling at the messes Chester and the Messy Kids got into. The ending was our favorite parts. The illustrations are bright colorful. You can’t help but laugh with the story. I have read several books by Lois Wickstrom, and all of them tell a message or solve a problem but through a narrative or story instead of being preachy. I can see kids making up their own imaginary friends, or even turning this into a STEAM experience and have them make a messy helper to remind them to clean their spaces.
I appreciate how the illustrator always depicts kids with different skin colors, disabilities, etc. as well as the central messages of the story line. Some picture books tend to be too wordy for young kids, but this one does not- I could see young kids really enjoying it!

This is an author who writes fun and entertaining children’s books. I have enjoyed reading her books from the first book I picked up. They are great children’s stories that are engaging and have colorful pages that could tell the story without words. In this story Chester is asked to clean his room. But he finds cat-faced aliens who seem to get him in more trouble with his mother. Can he teach these aliens where his things belong or will he find himself in more trouble. I enjoyed Chester and his imaginary friends. They are great characters that any child will enjoy reading about and what happens to them. I highly recommend this book and the other books by this author.

Chester doesn’t want to clean his room. He says he wants to clean the sandbox first. Four cat-faced aliens arrive in a merry-go-round-shaped spaceship and make an even bigger mess than he did. When he finally goes inside, the aliens put all his toys under his bed. His mom is not pleased. And she can’t see the aliens. But, she tells Chester to teach the aliens where his things go. The aliens copy him again. Will his mom believe him?

What a beautiful and delightful read! This wonderfully illustrated story has an entertaining and imaginative storyline! The flipflop of traditional world to an animal world and their observations of humans was so fun. I just loved the characters, Ranger Marco and his adventure with Fawn and family exploring the human world was so cute. The characters and their interactions really made the story. This is an easy read that is fun for the whole family. It will put a smile on your face!

What a great way to teach kids to change their perspective! This book is about Ranger Marco and the animal scientists he is giving a tour to see what they think about humans and the things they do. It’s a fun journey with a deer family and their racoon guide. The illustrations are magical and fun, it gives kids a chance to think about the environment and some of the things we do, and it is laugh-out-loud funny on more than one occasion. I loved it as much as my kids!

My kiddos and I thoroughly enjoyed People Safari and its gorgeous illustrations! We immediately picked up other books by this author as soon as we finished this one. It will have you giggling and give you a whole new perspective of nature, animals, and our environment. I thought it was a very cute book and definitely made my kids pretend to be animals observing me for the rest of the day! I highly recommend picking this up and sharing it with the younger ones in your life.

This was a cute book! It was interesting to see the animals describe what us humans do everyday, and I guess it would be an interesting and different way to teach young children about why we do some of the things we do. The illustrations in this book was also very cute and colorful. I very much enjoyed looking at those! I look forward to reading this book to my daughter when she gets a little older and understands more.

This is a cute take on the three little pigs. But in this story the pigs and the wolf become a team and work together. The wolf helps to huff and puff on the windmill to grind flour, and the pigs make home made bread. Everyone is satisfied. So cute!

What a refreshing Folktale. This time around the little pigs went to school. They learned how to make their home wolf proof. The wolf on the other hand was hungry. Can the pigs come up with a plan that will benefit both themselves and the wolf? Once again this author retold a story with a twist. Opening up the minds of our young children and encouraging them to think ahead. Great story for both parents and children. This is a must have for all libraries.

This is another fantastic retelling of the classic 3 Little Pigs. In this version, we have Stella, Hal, and Brad who are 3 very intelligent pigs who studied architecture and build wolf-proof houses. This obviously upset the wolf, but they were able to come to an agreement that was mutually beneficial to them all. I love how Wickstrom is able to weave science and life lessons together in her children’s books. She is one of my absolute favorite children’s authors. And as always, I love her illustrations!

Eleanor Dixon does it again by creating a magical addition to this series! I read this with my 11-year-old daughter, but I really did enjoy it. Even though the author tries to catch you up with what happens in the previous two books, you should really read them to get the full background and experience. The cultural background is amazing, and I found myself fascinated by each piece of information provided. While the previous two were more of a fun adventure with some real lessons being learned (grief, safety, etc.) this one felt scarier than the others. I still enjoyed it as the author really knows how to make the story flow incredibly well while they tie in the cultural references and life lessons. I highly recommend picking this series up and going on an amazing adventure with Tally and Jophiel.

Not many series get better as you continue, but this is definitely one of them! I would recommend picking up the first book in order to follow along well and get the best experience. Tally has gone through so much in her life already, but her angel Jophiel has helped her through it. Now she must lean on him again in order to get back to her father. This story flows just as amazingly as the first one did! Eleanor Dixon has become an author to watch for sure, and she’s already one of my daughter’s absolute favorites. Even if the synopsis doesn’t sound like something you would enjoy, I’m telling you…it will catch you off-guard! Highly recommend this book and this series. Onward to book number three!

I know this book was written for kids, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it with my 11-year-old daughter! The author so expertly and flawlessly covers a very difficult topic for everyone, let alone kids, and that is grief. I enjoy the way they covered different cultures and really paints a beautiful picture of India as a whole. Tally definitely goes through some of the most difficult times in this story, but having a friend to lean on makes such a big difference. What a magnificent start to the series, we can’t wait to see what’s next!

Ranger Marco takes a family of deer on an excursion to the world of humans. Baby Fawn discovers that she likes her life in the woods after seeing how humans live. This book was cute and made some great points. I believe children will love this book.

This is the first book that I have read in the series. Even though it was book 3 I could still understand and enjoy the story. This book is suitable for all ages and helps readers to learn about Japan in a fun way. Tally and her dad are in Japan for business where she meets the Aikawas and their son, Yoshi, and his friend Miyu. The children get to explore Japan with museums, sumo wrestling, graves, and magic drums. I want to read the previous two adventures to learn exactly how Tally got her angel, Jophiel.

This is book 3 in the Tally & The Angel series. I do highly recommend reading these books from book one so that you get the full story of Tally and how she comes to have an angel called Jophiel living in a necklace around her neck. This is a great read for children as the story weaves a magical adventure as Tally and her father explore the world.
In this installment we see them visiting Japan as that’s where Tally’s fathers work takes them. As Tally gets to explore the area and make new friends she also comes across a ancient curse.
What follows is a story of magical beings, Paranormal happenings, friendships. It also has some history and Japanese culture which makes the story really come alive for me. This story is full of secrets and discoveries and Jophiel and Tally with the help of her 2 new friends try to solve this ancient curse.
I have loved watching Tally’s growth in these books. I can feel her maturity grow from the first book to know and its beautiful how she comes to rely on Jophiel’s presence to keep her safe and being the curious child that she is.

Hudson is a great helper, until one day he was not. He had forgotten somebody, can you guess who? Reading this story will help other children find their self worth. This author and illustrator had worked well together. It shows in this story, and the pictures. Children could learn from this story. As could adults while reading to their children. Reading is always helpful and encourages children to love books and reading. I truly enjoyed reading this story to my grandbabies. They loved it too.

This is a GREAT take on the story of the big bad wolf and the three pigs. The pigs are great problem solvers and come up with a solution to the problem of the wolf trying to blow their houses down. It’s a good thing for the wolf – and so everyone wins in the end! Shows that if you think through the problem, there might be a better solution!

The pigs aren’t scared, and they work together to come up with a solution to keep the wolf from trying to eat them, so they could all be happy. People Safari was an adorable book, for all ages. It is geared toward little kids, but I think older would enjoy as well. The characters are cute (I love that they used a deer family with names Doe, Buck and Fawn) and the pictures are colorful and fun. This story is told in the perspective of animals, visiting and describing the human world. There is a lot of cute descriptions, that I would never have thought of. For example, how they think kids getting on a school bus is a monster eating the littlest of humans. It reminded me of movies like Over the Hedge and Open Season- where it is focused on a reverse perspective. Makes you re-think and giggle about the silly things us humans do. My 7 year old was laughing a couple times, saying it was the ANIMALS who were silly for not understanding. He loved it, thanks for a fun book!
