The author addresses young children who are eagerly awaiting their chance to be finished with babyhood. Vivid illustrations accompany each scenario proposed by the main character concerning her future preschool. Readers learn what they might be able to look forward to, at least when it comes to leaving babyhood behind. The main character learns that even though she looks forward to something new and exciting, it is normal to have some anxiety to sort through. The author and the illustrator have done a truly amazing job with their precocious preschool pirate!

A MAGICAL DRESS!

Strong-willed Princess Zarina wants a special dress for the Royal Advancement Ceremony on her birthday in two weeks. She makes a deal with a mysterious dressmaker for a ball gown that everyone will remember.

The dressmaker creates a beautiful black dress for her. However, it’s not the dress Zarina expected. Especially when fire fairies dance across the skirt.

After the deal with the dressmaker goes wrong, Zarina is trapped in the magical dress. She must return to the castle on her own. But invaders attack the kingdom and kill the King and Queen. Princess Zarina must avoid capture.

Will the magical dress help her defeat the invaders and save the kingdom?

This was a cute story and fun to read. I read it to my 6yo son. He thought it was funny and enjoyed it. I love the message put into the book. I think it’s always great when morals are snuck into children’s books.

This is an adorable little children’s book. I read it my children and they absolutely loved it. This is about a little girl who loves everything to do with the outdoors and nature. She comes up with an idea that she wants to share with the world. And with the help of friends and family to help with creating this idea she has. This little girl is smart, determined and won’t let anything stop her from doing what she wants to do. The pictures were very detailed and amazingly illustrated.

Arrrgh! Me Hate To Wait! by Mary Bleckwehl. This is such a fun book. I bought it for my 4 year old soon to be 5 nephew and even his 9 year old brother enjoyed it. Its the story of a Pirate Pig who is called Half Pint Porky. She can not wait to attend Pearl of Pork Pirate School. Her older siblings are all there and she just thinks its really unfair that she can’t go yet. When it does become time for her to go she is re thinking this whole thing. Its a bit scary. When she finally goes and makes friends she realizes its not so scary after all. We all loved this story. We laughed several times and the pictures were great. This book would make a great gift for the preschooler in your life and their older siblings might just like it too!

We are a family of four so I picked this book up for the kiddos. One is in elementary school, the other starts next year. Neither of them really care very much for being patient or waiting for things so I figured this could be a cute relatable story for them. I picked it out based on the title and the cover, but it was so much better than I was expecting.

The illustrations were very well drawn and very cute. My oldest giggled really hard at the pig booty a few pages in. My youngest loved that there was a place called poop deck. They loved it and asked questions about a few things in the story, as well as pointing out things in the illustrations on the page.

What I loved the most about it was that it showed the excitement for starting school, but in the end also showed that it’s also okay to be scared to start school. I love that it continued past that fear and showed that it was completely okay to feel that way. She went to school, found friends, and realized that it wasn’t as bad as she thought it was going to be. My youngest really liked that part. I highly recommend this book to parents of young children.

Caspian received brown socks for his unbirthday. He thinks there ordinary socks until grandpa poor’s hot chocolate on them. Then Caspian is flying and Grandpa joins. I read this to my baby and she was entranced. Quick short read that captures her attention and keeps her entertained.

This is a cute story about a girl piglet that can’t wait to start big girl school. She can’t wait to start school and she becomes impatient. When the time comes for her to start school she doesn’t want to go anymore because she is not a baby anymore. I read this with my niece and she loved it. These pictures in the story make the book to come to life. I think this would be a great story to read to the kids before a new school year.

I am a sucker for a good family/kid’s book. I enjoy reading these as all of my friends have children and these allow me to have fun time with them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it was one that was not only kid friendly but one that kept me interested as well. The illustrations were wonderful and bright. I really like Wickstrom’s books and how she always weaves lessons into them. This is the really cute story of Caspian, his UnBirthday, and his Grandpa’s gift, Hot Chocolate Socks. Caspian, at first, isn’t excited about his UnBirthday gift, but his mother reminds his that there’s always something good to be found in gifts we are given. Then Grandpa shows Caspian how special his socks are and Grandpa has a pair as well. They end up spending the day together having adventures. It’s a really good reminder that we all need to find the good in things and sometimes we need to take days off to have some fun.

This is another great story in the Amaleigha series. She is such a dreamer and inspirer and this time she’s helping inspire nature to her community. Once again, the writer did such a great job of not only telling a story but educating on the seasons and how they change. It’s a great way to get kids outside to explore and observe all that nature has to offer. The illustrations were perfectly paired with the story. The colors are so bright and vivid which is great for grabbing the attention of a child reader. Another book I highly recommend you give your kid as well a give as a gift to other kids.

Even I as an adult really enjoy Caspian’s Unbirthday’s and Grandpa’s gifts along with my grandkids. Although I was a bit hesitant to read this one with them. Why? Because I was wary that they would want to spill hot chocolate on their socks. I was right they did.
Grandpa and Caspian find themselves transport in a broom and mop and zoom off on adventures. It is a story that will make even an adult dream of being able to fly and the places you could go.
With bright and colourful illustrations that children will love join Caspian and Grandpa on this fun magical adventure.

Pirates and pigs, what’s not to love? This book was entertaining and had classic pig jokes. Read it to my 5 year old niece and she absolutely loves it. Birthday present here you come! Half-Pint learns a valuable lesson in waiting and it was a fun little adventure!

This book was a lot of fun and lead to a lot of conversations about bee’s and what they do for us. Those conversations lead to more research and learning about bees. Since I am allergic to bee’s we wont get a chance to make a beehive for our backyard, that this book provided instructions for, but it was great to learn how to do! I love how this author’s books always lead to better conversations for us. I would recommend!

Caspian’s UnBirthday is the third book in the Invisible Magic Wand series by Lois Wickstrom. This book is another great addition to the Invisible Magic Wand series. I love the creativity that was used by Wickstrom with the hot chocolate socks. I enjoyed Caspian and his grandpa’s adventures for his unbirthday.

This book is about the birthday present Caspian’s grandpa gave him, it was not your average birthday present. This year all Caspian got was a pair of brown socks from his grandpa called “Hot Chocolate Socks”. What is so special about these socks? They make Caspian float up in the air, but the best part is that grandpa says he cannot go to school on his unbirthday. He has to have a fun adventure instead. I always absolutely love the books by Lois Wickstrom! My kids love when I bring another one to our family reading night, and this was no exception. The illustrations are wonderful, and we all loved reading the story together. My kiddos had a fun time describing and acting out what they would do with their own hot chocolate socks. Caspian’s grandpa really knows how to make Caspian’s UnBirthday more magical than the last. This is such a cute and fun read! I highly recommend picking it up and having a blast with the kids in your life.

This is such a fun and cute story that all kids will absolutely love! The author has the balance of this book just right – it is educational and insightful but also retains the fun that kids need to keep their interest. There were plenty of giggles as we all read this book, with pirate voices to boot. My kids loved this book – the story, the characters and the illustrations. It has become a regular in our household and I can’t see that changing anytime soon. This is a book that I would highly recommend and is fun for all of the family.

This is the third book in the wonderful children’s series of the Invisible Magic Wand. Once again, the writer has done an amazing job telling the story of the next birthday gift given to Caspian by his grandfather. This one involved a pair of socks that allowed him to fly. And fly they did. All over the town enjoying his birthday and his new birthday gift. I loved it. The illustrations are so vivid and vibrant in color and go along with the story so well. Another book I highly recommend for the kids in your life. Would make a great gift to give to other kids, teachers or even to school libraries.

Bees in Loretta’s Bonnet by Lois Wickstrom is a children’s book that is fun and informational for all ages! This book like many of Lois’s books, aims to teach children about bees (leafcutter bees, more specifically). As always, the illustrations are brilliant, vibrant and really help to bring the explanations to life. Lois has a way of writing books that portray observations of your surrounding and how to handle situations that may occur. It also shows children the importance to have compassion towards insects in general. This is great learning tool that shows the different situations from a child’s point of view.

Even little piggies have to learn big lessons! Waiting to go to big kid pirate school is HARD for the adorable Half-Pint Porky. When the day finally arrives, nerves get the best of little Half-Pint. Throughout her first day in her new school, she learns more about patience, especially how waiting pays off in the end!

This adventurous book is full of vibrant illustrations. It teaches valuable lessons to little readers about patience and conquering fear. My kids especially liked the pirate language used throughout the book. It made the story engaging and interactive. You definitely want this book for your young readers!

Who doesn’t want Hot Chocolate Socks? Caspian has the best adventures. This time Grandpa got him the best socks. Pour hot chocolate on them (don’t try this at home) and off they flew with a broom. Fun adventure all day. Another winner for this author. Bright and colorful pictures. An exciting story that brings out conversation with the kiddos. We love Caspian in this house. We are starting our own Unbirthday for our little boy in March this year. We can’t wait to read more.

This is a silly, adventurous book for younger children. It’s Caspian’s unbirthday and he is slightly disappointed with his grandfather’s present. Brown socks! Who wants brown socks? After his grandfather spills hot chocolate on them, Caspian starts floating in the air. The adventure begins as they are both wearing their “hot chocolate socks”. The book is filled with colourful pictures and lots of silliness. This story is sure to be a favourite among the kiddos.

Caspian’s Unbirthday is the third book in the Invisible Magic Wand series by Lois Wickstrom. This cute children’s adventure book really grabs your attention with the bright and interesting illustrations that accompany the story. Grandpa always manages to come up with the most unusual and fun unbirthday gifts for Caspian, and this time it’s a pair of ‘Hot Chocolate Socks’. As expected, lots of fun and adventure ensue. What do Caspian and Grandpa get up to? Grab a copy of this great, silly little caper and follow along to see what happens.
My grandson and I read this book together and he thought it was silly and fun. I thought it captured the imagination quite well with a little whimsey and magic thrown in to make things interesting. As with the other books in this series, it is an enjoyable story. Suitable for children aged 4 to 8.

This is a super cute book with superior graphics. The colors on the illustrations are very vibrant and capture the eye and will hold a listener or reader’s interest while reading or hearing this story. Children will love the idea of an unbirthday gift and will likely ask for unique gifts, just as Caspian receives!
