Cute book and story! The illustrations were great, the adventure was one I think a child would enjoy, and the celebration of one’s unbirthday would make any child giddy with excitement. This starts to give children examples of respect and trade all while still having a nice adventure. I think it would make a good addition to any young person’s library.

This was such a sweet story, that all children would enjoy! The pictures were colorful and really went along with the story .I loved how creative the story was and how the gift turns to be something more. I find it was a good lesson, at first glance, not al things are what they seem. The characters really added nicely to the story and it was very enjoyable. A definite must read, and I do recommend this book for sure!

This book is cute. The artwork is well done and contributes to the story. I like that it is teaching children about how the world sometimes interconnects and sometimes by helping one person, you can help others. Caspian is given a present on his UnBirthday by his grandfather of a pad and a pencil that can write by itself, and seemingly predict the future. It first writes a single word, and once Caspian is able to obtain that one item, he tries again, and it gives him the name of a person he knows, so he finds this person and it turns out the item helps the person. I do feel like it was a bit short, but otherwise, I liked it.

This was a cute book about a little boy who wakes up to a present that leads him on an adventure.I did enjoy the story. However, I feel like I understood more about what was implied than a child would have. There is a definite story here but I would have liked it to either be more descriptive or simpler. Like I said, very cute book with a cute idea.

The-Know-It-All-Pencil (Invisible Magic Wand Series) is a children’s book that we (my four year old) loved reading. It’s a fun little story about a little boy named Caspian and what happens when the pencil and pad of paper comes to life. Follow Caspian on his fun adventure with The-Know-It-All-Pencil and green pad. My son loved this story and all the colorful illustrations. He was making up his own story with each picture. I highly recommend reading this book especially if you have small children. I’m definitely going to check out the other books 8n this children’s series.

Have you ever celebrated an UnBirthday?! Such a fun idea!!!! In this book Caspian’s grandfather always leaves him an unexpecting present for his unbirthday. This year it’s a pencil and pad of green paper. When Caspian picks up the pencil an adventure starts that’s sure to be weird and mysterious. What does this special pencil gift know? Where will it lead Caspian? I thought that my 7 year old would enjoy this short story. I love the unbirthday idea and so did she. We also cut up an apple just for fun and to see the star!

This book was so adorable and educational. Although it’s about mermaids it’s great for all genders. My little one is in kindergarten and loved it. It’s easy for kids to follow and they get so excited trying to do the tricks mentioned on the book. Plus the illustrations are so gorgeous!

Caspian has a big heart and adventurous spirit. I love his sweet relationship he has with his grandpa.

On Caspian’s unbirthday, he finds a special gift from his grandpa, a yellow pencil and green pad of paper. He knew immediately that this pencil was different. He learns that this is The-Know-It-All-Pencil and would soon send him on an interesting adventure.

I loved this book and the beautiful illustrations. I think any child would enjoy it!

It’s fast paced which is super good for children. I liked the storyline because it connects to the Caspian’s personal life. Also the book is very family oriented as it includes Caspian’s family. I also feel that this book points out everything happens for a reason. All the events that lead to the main event.

Caspian gets a pencil and a green pad from his Grandpa for his unbirthday. It writes the word apple. As his day progresses he goes on an adventure on his way to school to find out what the word apple means.

I loved this short but sweet picture book about Caspian and his adventure and think it would be perfect for children aged 4-8.

This is a children’s book that was about a boy named Caspian. Each year Caspian gets an UnBirthday gift from his grandfather. This year he received a pencil that wrote on its own. Once the pencil started writing, it was up to Caspian to find out what the pencil was trying to get him to do. Caspian goes on a little adventure meeting new people and going where the clues led him to a fun discovery. This was a cute book. I think children would enjoy having a pencil that could be magical and going on a little adventure. What I liked most was that the author found a way to have the character be social, kind, and prosocial behavior.

The time has come for another UnBirthday for Caspian, and the special gifts it brings from Grandpa in the box under his bed. This year, it was a Know-It All pencil and led him to start and apple adventure.

Cute, fun story. The illustrations were adorable and a fun addition. A good way to spur the imagination.

This is the first of the Invisible Magic Wands books that I have read to my daughter and the daycare children, and I am glad that I did! They very much enjoyed the pictures and how they were able to follow along with the story by hearing the words and then seeing the pictures. They really want to have an UnBirthday today and want to know more about Caspian and his adventures!

We did find that the story ended a little abruptly, but it was still funny, cute, and held all the children’s attention, which is saying quite a bit! For reference, they’re ages range from 1 – 8, the 8-year-old being the reader of the day! Will be grabbing the rest of these books for next week!

What a nice book! The artwork is beautiful and the story is sweet and interesting. I feel like this book would help any kid with their imagination, because it would be so cool to have a pencil that kind of predicted your adventure for the day. The trading scenes were super cute, I think most kids would trade bananas for a worm! Easy and great read for kids, looking forward to sharing it with my nephews.

This is a really cool children’s book just right for those little girls and boys who are interested in discovery and science. My granddaughter is one of those. She loves experimenting and trying to figure stuff out. She would love this book and would want to replicate each of the experiments. So if your children or grandchildren are interested in experimenting and discovering new things I recommend this book for them.

For a children’s book, this is quite a way to introduce science into the lives of our kids. I found it to be extremely interactive for the kids and was great science experiments for them to try on their own. My kids loved it. The colors were so vibrant and jumped off the pages. I also loved the theme of using the mermaid to help engage the kids and teach them the lessons. I also found it to be quite interesting and learned some things I didn’t know along the way. I would highly suggest purchasing this book for your kids or for other kids as gifts. This would be a perfect gift for an elementary science teacher’s room. Please give it a read.

Lois is a former high school chemistry teacher and former head science teacher at Science in the City Summer Camp in Philadelphia. She has also been an adjunct science teacher at the University of South Florida. Since retiring, she continues to take science classes. Her class in Forensic Biology led to Little Red, The Detective, in which Red is studying fingerprint identification, so she can tell that “Grandma” isn’t who she says she is.

Lois has taken so many science classes that she believes science is the solution to almost every problem, including the dilemmas in fairy tales. She has invented what she calls Science Folktales. In each science-based tale, the protagonist achieves a better ending than the original because of learning scientific principles. She has turned some of these tales into plays for children.

She has also created a series of Mermaid Science stories, which make use of water science.

Lois is married to the love of her life. She has two children and four grandchildren, and a dog. She gardens, rides her bike, and tries to save the planet.

I loved this book about friends Trezzie, Maia and Fig who share their ideas with one another on how to make things like a rainbow with only a piece of paper, a mirror, and a glass of water. This book was full of super cool ideas and teaches science in a way that is both fun and creative. It was easy to read while also being informative and contains beautiful illustrations throughout the book that make reading entertaining. I cannot wait to read it again and again with my young nieces and try out some of the science experiments in the book. I highly recommend this book!

The Mermaid and the Rainbow was a fun story! What a great way to get kids interested in science. It jumped from one experiment to another without explaining or connecting the experiments, but was still educational overall. The kids were still excited and wanted to try the experiments, which was the point. Lois Wickstrom did a great job making education fun!

I have a twenty-month-old daughter and a 7 year-old niece and they both loved this book. The vivid and bright pictures attracted my daughter and she loved going through them. My niece is “going to be a scientist” when she grows up and of course she loved the content. Plus, she loves anything to do with mermaids, so that was a bonus! This book is so cute. Trezzie is a mermaid who wants to show her friends, Maya and Fig, how to make rainbows and do an experiment with paper, a glass, and the lake water. Beware, the children you read this with will want to do these things when they are done reading! I recommend this book if you have small children as it is fun to look at and will keep their attention.

I thought this book was a really cute and fun book to learn about science. I enjoyed reading this book and finding all of the tricks that the mermaid knew and taught to the children. This is definitely a book that children will love. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and display the scientific experiments well. This little book is a fun conversation starter with your little one to do some of these experiments on their own with their own mermaid!
